Hello,
I've recently installed Oxygen on my Desire. And it was working flawlessly untill a few days back, when my Data/3G stopped working all together.
I inserted my SIM card into an X10i and 3G was working on that phone. But on my Desire, even though all setting are turned on, nothing seems to be working ?
Any help ? As i have very limited knowledge or rooting and custom ROMs, there might be something that i might be doing wrong ?
Thanks
Did you do a full wipe, data/factory rest, cache and dalvik cache when flashing the rom?
Also have you tried resetting or manual reading the apn settings? And do you use any app to control data connection?

1. Yes I did all of those things specifically, while flashing a new ROM.
2. I have tried resetting the APN settings. The thing is that my phone wont even detect that my Carrier has 3G or even Edge for that matter. Whereas, in the same area when I inserted my SIM into an X10i (or any other phone, just for comparison) it worked flawlessly.
3. No I dont use any app. I did install a widget to switch on/off data from my home screen but since it didnt work i uninstalled it. If I were to guess since when Im having this problem, I'd say somewhere around this widget incident. Its possible it has some connection. But I already uninstalled it.
Thanks for your time.
If it was a third party widget it might have messed it up. Make a nandroid and do and full wipe without reflashing to see if you get a connection. Beforehand you can back up your apps with titanium backup so that you can restore them on the fresh install if that fixed the data problem.

It was a third party widget, actually. Since Im new to the process, could you expand on "Make a nandroid and do and full wipe without reflashing", or perhaps, direct me to a place where I can see how its done.
Ill download the titanium back up from the market and back-up the apps. Wouldn't it reload the settings and the apps when I restore the backup, and possible the bug too ? Assuming the widget messed up some sort of setting or somethin ?
First make the nandorid, to do this boot in to recovery and go to backup, from that point on it should be self explanatory. You can also use rom manager and the backup feature. Once the nandroid is done you wipe (still in recovery) data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache under advanced, then hit back and reboot.
I don't think titanium will restore the "bug" because you already removed the app that probably caused it, just make sure you only backup/restore the green apps and data and check the list you restore to be sure that the switch widget isn't included.

Thanks man, it worked. I guess I have to be cautious on a Custom ROM before installing any apps, keeping in mind the compatiblity.
I have the same problem. I get no 3g icons in oxygen rc7 or in cyanogen mod7 build 32.
I have istalled both roms with full wipe of cache and dalvik. Nothing helps.
It is only green when wifi is on. If i turn it off, the netstatus is becoming grey.
It is a HTC Desire
And 3G is working perfect with Leedroid 2.3d
Wifi Issue, try out : "In wifi settings, advanced, set regulatory domain to 14 channels. I suspect what happens is that it cures the problem for those of us with channel = auto on the accesspoint."
3G Issue : Configurate manually your access points depending on your provider, it worked for a friend.
Good Luck!
Found the links, but when I flash, do I need to wipe everything like I do before flashing a new ROM? or do I just wipe the cache and dalvik?

I have settled on this ROM because it ran the smoothest through my daily apps.
People mention theme customization, but where do I find this?
Also, how do I change the "dock" (if that's the right word for apps at bottom of homescreen)? And I also saw a video where they had a continuous homescreen, meaning it would cycle to #1 after it reached #7.
The "dock" is my main concern as I don't like the three small button layout.

Right from the OP on Myns TwoPointTwo there's links to flash a themes version of launcher pro which would allow you to change dock to whatever you please. Just flash them like you did the rom originally.
I think it comes with launcher pro; press menu from the home screen, > preferences > homescreen settings > check virtual loop.
That may be adw, not sure.

Just flash and reboot. You shouldn't need to wipe anything at all. Clearing the dalvik couldn't hurt, but I don't believe its necessary.

Rule of thumb:
1. If flashing a totally different rom, wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card.
2. If flashing a nightly, wipe cache and dalvik.
3. If flashing a kernel, wipe cache, dalvik and battery stats.
4. If flashing a theme or another mod, wipe cache and dalvik.

I just rooted my phone yesterday and flashed warm z 2.2 rom and i want to flash a few of the add-ons. Do i just go into recovery and install from zip? Do i need to clear anything before i do this? this topic has been discussed before but im still unclear on exactly what i do. thanks.
You don't always need to wipe, but yeah, most stuff you flash in recovery. I usually wipe Cache and Dalvik before flashing anything, no matter what it is just to be safe. You shouldn't have to wipe anything other than that.
If you let me know the specific mods, I can double check for you.
Edit: Welcome! Excellent 1st ROM selection.
Yea im just trying to get the "recent apps in notification bar" and the "Hulu" add ons. thanks again for the help.
Yeah, you flash those, although I can't find the recent apps mod, I'm sure it is a flashable zip.
Also, someone the other day had trouble with the hulu zip. If you do, let me know and I can direct you to how to manually install Hulu.
ok im waiting on my battery to charge so i can flash the "recent apps in dropdown menu" add-on to my rom. Just to be 100% clear, i can just go into recovery and hit install from zip and choose the file? Is it best to clear the cache & dalvik cache before hand or does it matter? and if i do clear them will it erase any of my apps/files? Sorry, im really new to this stuff and im trying to learn as i go.

Its best to wipe the cache and dalvik before flashing anything in recovery. And it won't delete you apps, ect. Think of it like cleaning your internet cache on your browser. And yes, after the wipe, click install zip, and then choose zip. If you flash multiple things, wipe then flash again.
Ex: wipe cach/dalvik, flash thing one, go back, wipe cache/dalvik. flash thing 2, ect. Then reboot when done.
ok thanks a lot for the help.

Are you using CWM to flash? I'm new to this as well and I don't think I'll be able to wipe cache without doing a full wipe with it.

You can use CWM Recovery to Flash. Or there are several other Recoveries out there. Amon_Ra v2.3 , or SmelkusMod.

Hello there.. I flashed RBJ (v. 8/12) for the first time & i had absolutely no problem.
Then i clean installed the v. 15/12. Everything was smooth & worked flawlessly, except this: (check the attachment plz)
Those blue lock icons at the notification status. That same problem continues existing even when i flashed the latest version.
Apart that everything works as it should. Is it normal? If not, can any1 help me how to fix it?

I've flashed zenyth softkeys & xlouder mod, but the problem existed before flashing them.
The shortcuts exist from power toggle app.

btw the right steps are these right?: wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flash ROM, flash Gapps, flash kernel.
In case i miss a step (factory reset or something) plz let me know.

if doing a clean install, no need to wipe cache or dalvik as wiping data(factory reset) will take care of it. wipe data, flash rom, flash gapps, then flash the kernel.

cool. let me know then. this is the first time ive seen such a thing in the status bar, usually id blame a flashable theme/mod but you said it was without it also. that app might be the culprit.
Well.. i unistalled the power toggles app, reboot.. nothing changed. So, i clean installed (less reboot way than unistalling each mod separately) the latest RBJ rom, gapps & trinity kernel & everything is as it should be.. No weird blue lock icons at notification bar. /success
Thanks again simms22!!

Just upgraded my GNex to RasbeanJelly 12/21 and trinity alpha11.
Did a full wipe and everything seems to work except the home button.
No way to come back to home screen , I have to tap the "go back" button.

Hey. I need some help.
My phone doesn't pass the Google screen.
The device worked after installing JellyBam 6.6 and everything was great.
I turned it off after restoring few apps from TB, and then it didn't turned on to the ROM.
Before installing I wiped cache, devlik and data.
I can get to fastboot mod and from there to the recovery (TWRP 2.4.3.0).
Also I can use the toolkit.
What should I do??
It happend to my friend and he told me he wiped everything and installed stock,
but I don't want to format the internal storage as he did.
Should I just install the ROM again, backup and install another ROM?
Should I wipe system?
you restored system apps from TiBu, which is a bad idea.
reflash the rom/gapps then restore your data, but do not restore system apps.
I didn't restore many system apps.
I think only the clock, some app that I made as system one (Notification Toggle), the launcher,
Time zone and few minor things like thats.
Now I wiped cache, devlik and data again.
Should I just install the ROM now or should I wipe system before? (TWRP says it's inly wipe the ROM)
You have the rom in sd rite?
So just go to recovery abd wipe cache and data and system.
After that make a fresh install of the ROM. Let it boot up.
-Rik[Rittik]
doesnt matter. you restored system apps which can cause problems
wipe, reflash rom, restore only non-system apps/data

Just do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and flash the ROM then the Gapps and reboot. You may not even need the factory reset though. Try without it first.
Already did factory reset..
What is system reset and when I need to use it?
If it's wiping the rom, shouldn't it done before changing one?
OH, I just realized I deleted the ZIP file from my device.

I've never done a system wipe. But I assume it wipes EVERYTHING. Meaning if you do that, you better flash something right after so you have something to boot to. Otherwise it will never boot and you will have to hook it up to a computer and flash a stock image and start over. I dont know if wiping the system will wipe your SD card as well. If all you did was changes some system apps and data around then a simple re-flash of the ROM should fix it. If its not then I'm going to say that there is something else wrong.
I don't have to ROM.zip on my device.
Can I somehow do this using Fastboot Mode and my PC?
I tried with OTG and DOK but it's not working :X
boot into recovery and use adb to push the rom to your device.
adb push c:\yourlocationofrom\rom.zip /sdcard/
Okay, I did it, but I can't find the file..
It says that the file passed..
I did "adb push D:/JellyBam.zip \sdcard\"
Where did the file moved to?
OK, got it!
I tried again with upsided / \ and it works.
THANKS A LOT!
working
So I shouldn't restore any system app?
Not even data?
And what about SMS, data usage and stuff like that?
Apps that I made as system app (Like notification toggle)
Launcher??

It depends on what ROM you were on when you made the backup. Are you coming from a different ROM? Because thats when you should NOT restore system stuff. Thats like trying to add stuff to the system that is not meant for the ROM. It doesnt take that long to set up all your settings manually. I would just stay away from restoring system stuff with Titanium Backup. There are apps that backup and restore your sms messages in the Play Store that work well. What launcher are you wanting to restore? If you made any app a system app previously, I would just restore it as a user app and THEN make it a system app again. Dont restore it directly as a system app. And before you do anything, make a backup of your ROM so you dont have to go through all this again.
I restored few things, but Data only.
Now there isn't a problem.
THANKS again for helping
