Official Galaxy Nexus Accessories - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Mobile Fun have some images of the official accessories - including a HDMI Dock!!! Apparently they will have videos of these accessories on the page in the next 10 mins
Samsung Galaxy Nexus HDMI Dock EDD-H1F2BEGSTD
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Vehicle Dock - ECS-K1F2BEGSTD
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Holder And Battery Charger EBH-1F2SBECSTD
Samsung Desk Stand for Galaxy Nexus EDD-D1F2BEGSTD

Why is it the screen mounts are always so expensive? I want one but it costs almost as much as I paid for my navman sat nav.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Google need to release an update before these accessories hit the market.
As it stands you can only use MHL in landscape mode, yet the HDMI dock is in portrait.
And the Desk Dock is in landscape when you can only use portrait home screens at present.
Quite a big oversight.

Have you used the docks? No? Thought so.
You don't know what happens when the phone is docked. For all you know, the desktop dock could enable landscape home screen only when docked, much the same way that landscape home screen is enabled when plugged into an HDMI TV.
Until people have these docks in their hands, no-one can say.

Is it just me or do none of these accessories make any sense?
MobileFun says the HDMI dock can sync and charge. Sync with what? Using HDMI, the USB port is in MHL mode, and won't be able to do USB transfers. Sync using wireless? Well, we don't need a dock for that...
Also, the dock is portrait. In ICS, connecting to an external display forces the device into landscape. So how are you going to control the phone? I guess you'll need a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
For the landscape dock, MobileFun says "Unlike other docks, the geniune Samsung Desktop Dock for the Galaxy Nexus has been designed to be used in both portrait and landscape orientations."
What the heck? How is that thing going to be used in portrait mode? There's no way it would even be able to stand on its own when you rotate it 90 degrees. What the hell are they talking about?
Last but not least, neither the landscape desktop dock nor the vehicle dock allow access to the power button. Also they dock in opposite directions, the landscape dock has the pogo pins at the bottom, the vehicle dock has the pogo pins at the top.
I don't get it. Is this all supposed to be some kind of early April Fools joke?

There definitely does not seem to be any buttons on the desktop dock (with the pogo pins). The car dock appears to have a volume rocker, I can't tell if there's a power button.

It's depressing how badly designed these docks are. Look at Motorola's docks. These docks look embarrassing in comparison.

the sammy car dock looks excellent, but at £50 they can **** OFF!

Those prices make no sense at all, nether do the docks. Like others have said having the HDMI dock in portrait mode is just stupid as pretty much any content I'd want to display would be landscape so it would be stupidly awkward to control. how they can ask the exact same price for one dock that has a hdmi port built in compared to the one that doesn't is just ridiculous, I could understand the hdmi dock being maybe about £35 as it's basically a MHL adapter with additional plastic and a metal weight, £50 is just crazy.

I expect that the high price is due to the fact this is an "exclusive". They are the first retailer to sell these so you would expect them to charge more. I hope prices will come down a bit when others have them.
What I am really really curious about is the lack of USB connectivity to the phone in both the car mound and the desktop dock. What I mean is that a usb connector is not plugged into the bottom of the phone. This either means that it is using those three prongs for data transfer or there is some kind of horrible bluetooth setup.
I for one am very excited about these. Hopefully this is not the final price.

I'm pretty sure its a horrible bluetooth setup.

Why do you say that, is it just a hunch? On my old Nexus One the three prongs were for charging only I remember that. But we have come a long way since then. With my first gen Galaxy I simply put the phone into the car dock and I get audio out of the dock's audio port.
If this is some kind of bluetooth thing then its a big step back and would mean I will not get this phone!

Official Samsung Galaxy Tab Keyboard Dock (pics)

I know we all want a good working accesory for our Galaxy Tab. Well, the Samsung keyboard dock works really well with the tablet.... especially because it has Android Keys, its own charging port, and a speaker line out.
I recommend it if you are looking for a tab keyboard.
Some pics are attached for the community....
Also a very quick video about the Android Keys....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFuhRIdkWdU
Hope this helps some of you that are looking into this keyboard.
Where can I buy it.
Looks very nice.
Do you have an link to the shop so I can order one?
I will appreciate that.
planning to get this!
how does it connect? Through the port, or is it bluetooth?
@Rodus - I bought it at Best Buy yesterday.
All you do is dock it landscape mode. Dock it and its ready to go.
One thing is.... if you use a custom keyboard on your tab like swype... when you dock the tab, itll revert you back to stock keyboard. That is the only downside I have found.
Great Video, thanks.
A few questions:
-The way the tab recharges is only if the port on the right is used, meaning connected to the A/C with the charger that came with the Tab?
-If so, if we would like to plug in a USB adapter, it's either the adapter or the charger, correct?
-If we don't plug in the charger on the right, does the keyboard work? Is the Charger charging the keyboard as well? or does it get powered in other ways?
-What ports are in the back?
-Do you think this keyboard is somewhat portable? Or is it pretty much for home use?
-Does it come with a pouch or anything else?
Thanks!

- Yes.... plug your AC to the keyboard while the tab is docked and it charges the tab.
- Dock your tab and plug your USB 30 pin adapter and you are good to go. Its either the AC for charge or the USB for transfer.
- The 30 pin is only for charging the tab. I'm thinking the keyboard is powered by the tab.... The keyboard doesn't have any batteries or anything like that... which makes it portable and really easy to work with. No plugs needed, just dock anywhere and the keyboard works.
I'm currently doing a few test to see what drains more battery, docked with the keyboard or undocked.
- The back of the keyboard only has a speaker line out, that's it. An HDMI would have been perfect but they put the HDMI connector on the media dock.
- No pouch... Its very light, portable, and has a very solid build with a rubber bottom so it doesn't slide around while you type. The tablet weights 567grams and the keyboard weights 609grams... I put them on the scale just now.
Hope that helps.

Nice!
my thoughts:
-if you buy the Hdmi adapter dongle it shoud work in the 30 pin adapter of the keyboard, you can connect to the tv.
-The media dock does NOT have an HDMI connector - you still need the Hdmi Adapter. What the media dock does is... it basically holds the Tab.
-great that the keyboard is so portable. Add a bluetooth mouse and there you have your power station.
Let us know about the battery test!

Picked mine up from Best Buy this morning.
Oh, no wonder I am having problems with the keyboard. I froze the stock keyboard, so the dock keyboard has been giving me some problems.
I will defrost it and see if it's back to normal.
Yep. Worked.
So far I'm absolutely loving the keyboard dock.
Anybody else having issues with the dock randomly disconnecting and reconnecting, it also seems to do it when waking up the device from sleep mode.
I am also feeling slightly uncomfortable with the dock due to the slight amount of movement from front to back when moving the device with the dock attached, really wish the 10.1 locked in.
On another note I don't usually notice it disconnect and reconnect when the device is plugged in to AC but it seems like when off the charger the dock is very finicky. If anyone can unplug the charger from your dock and see if you put your tab to sleep than wake up the tab, see if it dings like you have just plugged in the keyboard. I am wondering if it shuts the dock off to save power than turns it back on when you wake it up. Still doesn't solve the random but very short disconnects.
I am seriously contemplating calling Samsung to see their opinion on weather or not the bit of movement with the device on the dock will cause any premature failure of the docking/charging plug. Seems like a lot of stress on the jack when moving the device on the dock. Starting to think about the Extended Warranty due to fear of the possibility of breaking the Dock Connector inside the tab.
I will be getting the Samsung keyboard, or the one by Logi tech
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/tablet-accessories/for-android/devices/tablet-keyboard-android
I'm still undecided as to which one l plan on getting

You can find it here on the best buy website. It says that it is black, but the picture shows white. I'm curious too what color they have because it may help me determine if I want white or metallic gray.
Only one I've seen so far is white, including at Best Buy... Don't know that a black one exists
So I'm digging the keyboard dock. It does tend to be a bit possessed at times. It won't register when I cradle the Galaxy on rare occasion (it makes the docking sound but the key presses don't register). Sometimes I'll be typing and it will jump to the address bar for the web browser and the on screen / display keyboard will come up. Then a bunch of "o" keypresses or something along those lines will start inputing. When it works, it's awesome. I'm using it to to type this right now. When it's possesed it is a headache.

609 grams just for the keyboard is quite a lot. I'd rather get a lighter bluetooth keyboard and prop up the tablet with an adjustable case or the cheap Arkon stand...
i picked this bad boy up today and almost freaked because it didnt want to work for like a hour. It refused to respond, I tried it connected and not connected to the AC adaptor. Literally went to return it but was too late the store closed, went home and put it on to charge and it magically decided "oh damn he is serious, I guess I should work" and decided to do what its meant to.......
going to do some more testing before I decide to keep it....wont stand for a item that chooses when it wants to work

Multimedia Dock

Hi
Just spotted this on Expansys - is it genuine?
http://www.expansys.com/samsung-google-galaxy-nexus-multimedia-dock-225460/
I thought the multimedia dock was going to be landscape?
Or are there 2 options?
Matthew
Yeah saw this too, my bet is by looking at the triangle construction on the back it can be both landscape and portrait but may be wrong......
Assuming the docks in this video are for the Galaxy Nexus: http://youtu.be/14x9kKgvHkg?t=1m7s
There appear to be two docks. A landscape dock that uses the pogopins, and a portrait dock that uses USB/MHL. I'd guess that the landscape dock is just a charging dock, while the portrait dock is a multimedia dock.
and a portrait dock that uses USB/MHL.
Click to collapse
Just a thought: Since MHL just mirrors everything on the screen, a portrait dock would make a terrible MHL Dock for the most part.
Might be a dumb q... but will the landscape multimedia dock charge at the same time?!
i have seen this dock with the galaxy II,in a video.
so maybe the shop is wrong?
There is definitely a portrait multimedia dock as I have seen it advertised on other sites but not available until 30th November. I looked at a similar dock on the expansys site for the Galaxy SII and it does say it can be used in landscapde mode but I would assume you did that by just turning the dock on its side and the viewing angle on a desk would be pretty bad like that since it would sit 90 degrees to the desk.
It also doesnt say any information such as output ports but the other ones I have seen have an HDMI OUT for connection to a monitor or tv.
The image is also wrong for the Galaxy Nexus as it shows 2 buttons on the right side (presumably for the volume) when there should just be the single button on the right for the on/off and 2 buttons on the left for the volume (which the picture snt showing so we dont know). It probably wont even look like that lol.
Expansys obviously dont have any stock of this dock and the price looks pretty high so I would wait until the beginning of December and see what amazon or ebay start offering.
Mark.
It does say "Note: temporary picture" ... We'll see.
it does say " Note: temporary picture."

Good point. Maybe that dock can be used in both portrait and landscape mode, like the Galaxy S II docks.
Anyone find it weird that the Galaxy Nexus has both a MHL port and the pogo pins? It's like they can't decide on how to dock the thing and threw in the kitchen sink. With the MHL/MicroUSB port you can get USB data, charging, HDMI output, and maybe analog audio too, so what's the use for the pogo pins? It just makes docking options more complicated...

MHL can't be used at the same time as USB as far as I know. When the MHL cable or adapter is attached the phone detects it and it switches over to MHL.

Yeah, it's either MHL or USB. But what's the point of the pogo pins? All they do is charge. The MHL port, regardless of whether it's in MHL mode or USB mode, still charges. You don't gain anything by using the pogo pins. It leaves the MHL/USB port open, but then if you want to use it, it's still only either MHL or USB.

This is exaaaaaaactly what I have been looking for. I wonder if there will be a way to get a gnex with a case to fit in it...thats the pain with most docks, not case friendly . Any ideas?

Official Samsung Docks

They are now listed available to order and will ship in three days, 1/23.
http://www.mycellworld.com/Samsung-OEM-Multimedia-Desktop-Dock-P182792877-P93055.htm
http://www.mycellworld.com/Samsung-OEM-Vehicle-Navigation-Mount-P182792874-P93056.htm
They both only list compatibility with the i515 so I wonder if they will work all the same with the i9250.
The car dock (second link) is the same one that's been on Samsung's website for a while:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECS-K1F8BEGSTA
It DOES NOT have the pins for use on the side of the Nexus.
I'm looking for one that does have the pins so I don't have to unplug everything when I want to take the phone in and out of the dock.
The description for the car dock says you can plug your car charger directly to the mount. I'm so confused. I just want the pins...
Honestly I'd be happy just to use the desktop dock in my car. Double sided Velcro and stick it right to my dash. It's what I do with the car dock anyways (using the disk thing it comes with) and there's no annoying suction cup to worry about when the temperature drops. Plus it's lower profile and much easier to drop the phone in and out of. Especially when the suction doesn't want to play along.
I posted this mainly because I hadn't seen the multimedia dock available yet anywhere else, I just included the car dock link in case someone wanted both.
Seriously? $64.95 for a piece of plastic with USB headphone jacks wired to the prongs. Did Samsung subcontract this out to Monster Cables? Nice to be able to insert/remove phone wihout plugging/unplugging, but pricing is obscene.
Yes I made a thread asking about this about a week ago about a 3 pin charging cradle. Its finally coming out! .....and then I seen the price of the damn thing -.-

and why would you say its the old crappy version? just the price? the picture and discrption are of the good one. part number is even different although that could be their internal cataloging number. still no evidence of this being the old verizon model.
as for the price on the desktop dock, i'm assuming it has to do with the internals. has an hdmi output while only physicly connecting to the phone via 3-prong connector. supposedly the car dock sends audio to the mount via bluetooth and the mount is able to give you the aux output line from there. wondering if it is sending data to the home version the same way.
Well I know its no iPhone 4s in terms of volume, but how hard would it be to be for an aftermarket company to make a car cradle that works with pogo connectors? All you have to do is have raised spring loaded prongs so that it would work with a tpu case.

I ordered one of these to station on my bedside cabinet, so my note would act as a nice alarm clock. The unit is reasonably solid, but feels a little unstable out of the box (it wants to tip over backwards if placed on a less than solid surface, e.g. carpet)). However, once you plug your power cable into it this seems to help with the stability due to the location of the socket.
The unit itself has a very subtle light on the top, like a thin white crescent, to show when the unit is powered, and the contour of the aperture fits the Note's body perfectly. In fact, it holds it incredibly tightly, so I have no risk of accidentally knocking the note out of the cradle during a particularly robust "bedroom gymnastics" session with Mrs RTR, if you get my drift.
All in all, I'm more than happy with mine.
I tried a few different docks, but ultimately decided to go dock-free, simply because these docks are pretty much only usable with the Note naked, whereas I prefer leaving my Note in its case 24-7.

I don't blame you.
But I almost never use any phone with cases. I sure buy couple but like after week or two stop using them. They make them phones thick.
But I recently dropped my note , and it has scratch/ding . So back to case till the dock arrives.

There are some docks now appearing which have removable rubber inserts which claim to accommodate the Note with a Gel/TPU case, e.g.

Anybody tried one?
Thanks.
BTW I offered the seller 5.99 ea. for two,he gave me $6.49 for TWO.
So try offering him lower price. not a huge saving but hey dosent hurt to try!
Can we connect MHL cable to this dock? that would be really great!

Ordered this one on Dealextreme which seems to be the same as OP:

Great dock, stable, nice looking, I'm loving it
Looks like .. let us know your review once you get it and i will give it a thought .. (am also in India)
Just read the description on the eBay page and looks like it ships only with the cradle and no cable included ...
MHL dont work!
Well apparently, this dock is only good for charging / desk clock only.
you can not use MHL cable behind the dock and HDMI out.
It doses charges via MHL cable but dose not do HDMI out.
I know tht part sucks the most, but that is what it is.

I have the same one from deal extreme. The dock was a little snug at first, but has loosened to a great fit. I've been using my phone as an alarm clock for a long time now and I can finally see the dang thing without picking it up now. Only thing I wish it had was a home button on the base so I could wake the phone without pushing it back. Overall I'm very happy for $12 shipped.
i like it, but can't buy, because i'm living in vn, so......

I have to check on that.
I dont think it will work either.
But I will see what it does!
I got this from
http://list.qoo10.com.sg/item/PLANET-DOCK-CRADLE-FOR-GALAXY-NOTE/405156094
Charging and file transfer only. But a little wobbly as the base is too small.
Sorry for the quality of the picture.
I bought a slightly better one... should arrive in ~2 weeks.
I'll post my impressions here

Inexpensive USB dock

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive dock for Nexus 5 with built-in USB charging? I need one for my office where phone stands most of the time in dock unless I need to use it. I currently have a cheapo dock for Samsung Galaxy Nexus (bought for like $5) but it does not fit N5 and USB connector on N5 is turned around.
What I would like is something similar - form-fitting, affordable, unobtrusive, stable to use phone while in dock and with built-in charging.
Any recommendations would be welcomed.
It's too soon for bespoke docks and the universal ones don't work for the reason you mentioned. I'm checking every day for the Kidigi dock that will come to market but it's not on sale yet.
An alternative is to buy a desk stand and plug in a charging cable as normal.
I hope Kidigi know it too... Look at the Dock, the USB Connector is not in the right direction.
