[Q] Wifi File Transfer can't connect Galaxy Nexus and Computer - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi All,
Having a little issue with the app called "Wifi File Transfer". As we all know that GNex can't do UMS. Alternative I see on XDA forum is use wifi transfer program, and some recommended using Wifi File Transfer.
Issue is, it seems that my GNex can't connect properly. I typed "192.168.1.x:1234" into the browser, and it failed to connect. Then I checked the IP address (eg. 192.168.1.27), and try to ping the GNex's IP from a PC, it can't locate...
Do any of you have this issue? Does the GNex's LAN IP need to be ping-able (not sure if this is a word but u get the idea) for Wifi File Transfer to work?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx in advance!

Maybe a stupid question but, your phone and computer are on the same network right? The app works fine for me.

personally i prefere samba (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.funkyfresh.samba) it allows you to add your phone as a network drive on windows so you can xfer files over wifi like its a drive on your computer..

Found the culprit... its my FIOS router. After restarting the router, Wifi File Transfer works just fine.

[Q] Wireless Tether works with phones but not laptops?

I installed CM6.1 yesterday and attempted to give the hotspot feature a try. I am able to connect to the hotspot via a mobile phone's wifi but when I try connecting to the network via my laptop it won't connect. I can see the network on both devices but only the phone connects and actually lets me browse the web. The laptop I am using is running Windows 7. Has anyone else run into this?
Yes and I have no idea why.

How to setup a computer to work with that app?
I'm very basic about WiFi things.
Help me.
Install the app on your phone, when you open it, it will set itself up and give you an HTTP:// address to put in your browser. Then you have access to your SD card through your web browser

+1 on that app. Using it, too. Easy as can be.
Please Explain More.
It does not setup itself.
Connect to your wifi network. Run app. In your browser type the adress given by the app. done.
How to setup a WiFI Network on my computer?
I'm using XP.
Google.
2. You do not connect directly to your PC, the app uses a WiFI AP (your router).
So PC & phone connected to the router, and it's done.
Also make sure your phone is connected to your wifi

APP to transfer sd card data over wifi

Anyone have an app to transfer to and from the phone via wifi which works faster than USB 2.0? I tried wifi explorer pro and airdroid but they were pretty slow :/
Try remote desktop (for Chrome) and for Android device!
that works fine for me, but I don't know is it faster than USB 2.0.
Try Airdroid.
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
Check out FileExpert. It's great for transferring over Wifi.
I have used ESFile Explorer to connect android to shares on my Ubuntu machine. It is not faster than USB, but is easy to setup and will do the trick. You can find it in the Play Market.

I can't figure out how to transfer over wifi without using web which doesn't help much since it bounces the file out of my local wifi and then back in (which is slow since my isp capped my upload at .7Mb/s)
Airdroid only works if your phone and computer is on the same network.

[Q] How to allow mobile data when connected to no-internet wifi network?

Hello.
At work we have wifi network that has no interent, I use that network to transfer files from phone to computer, however whenever I connect to that network my phone looses interent connection too, because wifi become the only active network.
Is there a way allow 3g/4g network while connected to wifi?
Thank you.
P.S.

Sorry, but I can't believe that.
On Windows, for example, you can specify order, priority, of the adapters at which system will use to connect to the interent. It has to be something similar in Linux/Android...

Is there a way to either share my Wi-Fi or use phone as a network card?

I can log into Wi-Fi with my phone but not my computer so can I share phones ability to get on Wi-Fi with computer? Or just use phone to connect use its IP and stuff. Compute is messed up I need download huge file to fix issues need Get on internet
