I am posting this for my good friend ecooce. His words below.
"So some of you may know I now have an Epic Touch, and I just want to say I will be creating for both soon if all goes well.
I just wanted to show off the new Mugen 1950mah battery (which also fits the original Epic, actually a pertect fit). This thing is everything it says it is and better if you ask me. The numbers dont lie, I use my phone all day. I work 3rd shift which is the absolute worst on ones personal life, I may sleep 3 hours at a time just to try and do things on a normal time, its hard to explain. Anyways, I used the phone all day and taxed it several times with games, a movie, and some youtube. Screen was at about 40% brightness, auto rotate, no auto brightness. The ROM is old and built on Caulkins 1.5. I plan on doing all updates to 2.3.6 and may release soon.

And a side note to the OG Epic owners, I really miss interacting with everyone, we had some fun times, and I dont think any other phone forum will be the same for me ever. We had some real high moments, and people, even SINN I miss, I have to say. Other phones may get leaks, and have inside info, but no one did it like we did. I just wanted to say I miss you guys "
To be honest, how much could an extra 8% of battery do? I can he wrong here but I don't see how that is worth $45 (please feel free to prove me wrong)
If I was helpful, give thanks

I agree, I easily get 4+ hours of screen on time with the stock battery. Hell I used it yesterday including an hour of NHL live and still went to bed with 35% left after 14 hours.
I've had the Mugen battery for over a week now. It adds about an hour to a full charge. It actually weighs a couple grams less than the stock Samsung battery. Yes, it's pricier than some of the batteries on eBay but I've had good luck with Mugen batteries in the past. Shipping speed was okay considering it had to cross a large pond and I had to sign for it at the post office which is pretty secure. Overall I'm a happy customer.
That screenshot isn't all that impressive, honestly... about matches what the others are saying here. Doesn't look remotely worth the money; the E4GT just does too good a job already.
extended batteries get the job done

just ordered one. to the 2nd post: it's not 8% more, but 108.33333% more (yeah you left off the decimal lol) because you have both your original plus the new one.
DON'T FORGET the mugen discount code, FACEBOOKSPECIAL before clicking on Proceed to Checkout it will save you $3.15 (7% off shopping cart) and those who read this tonight, they are shipping for free today (12/8/11) but you may see the free shipping offer extended or repeat

Actually, it IS 8.3333% more. 108.3333% more would mean 208.33333%.
On the other hand, if you said "This battery is 108.33333% of the original battery", that would be correct. "More" is saying you are adding that percentage to the original percentage (100%).
I was looking on amazon and found some extended batteries I might give a try.
One by Samsung that's 2000 mAh
http://www.amazon.com/CHICHITEC-2x2..._1_6?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1323576920&sr=1-6
There's another one by Seidio....3200 mAh...This one does require a new back cover because the battery is fat. The back cover comes with the battery. Similar to the bigger extended batteries for the Evo 4G and Evo 3D
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-BACY32..._17?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1323576920&sr=1-17
Please stop biting off flosscarter.... This battery right... Is a GO..

I'd never do one of those Seidio giant batteries, personally.
Fundamentally, the ET4G has a slim, lightweight, upscale design - that sort of thing would ruin it entirely. "If you had to", that's one thing... but that would be a hell of a lot of use for a phone that already has good battery life.
I love the idea of a drop-in replacement battery like that Chichitec one though, or even the Mugen one.
The Chichitec one seems like a good deal. The Mugen one... not such a good deal. Part of me wants to say "you get what you pay for", but I've been around the block a few times. There's great deals to be had on these accessories, the OEM's have such obnoxious markups on them that when the Chinese manufacturers sell them direct, the real prices come out.
I suspect the real deal here is that Mugen's prices are simply close to OEM prices. Anyone use those Chichitec batteries? Reviews on Amazon were all positive.
I have anker 1800 that was made for the og epic. works just as good as stock. it's not 2000, but its also not $40 (its 20 for 2)

man I don't know what I am doing wrong but my E4GT has horrible battery life.
way worse than my touch pro 2. not even close.
maybe its just "new phone" usage IE using it a lot. I got an extended battery (3950mah) and WOW what a difference. I can get through a whole day now (usually)
I keep hearing wow amazing battery life and wondering what I am doing wrong gonna try that new low power usage rom soon.
besides battery life the phone is the cat's meow. freaking love it.
This is Ksmullins, posting this for a team member. Just an update on what the battery can do with an Epic Touch.

I received my 3500mah on Friday with case. I haven't done any formal testing, but its been off the charger since last night on a fresh, untreated ROM and after a full day of work (including 35 minutes of Pandora on my commuter) its at 73%.
Now, some blown out pics:

Pros:
There is no debating this; the camera lens is now OFF of flat surfaces!
With the changed dimensions of the phone, I find it easier to hold.
If you like a more pronounced presence in your pants, this phone will help provide it
You know when you have left your phone behind. This is great if you are a /b/tard that can't remember anything.
Holy crap the battery life!
Battery does not get hot. I haven't felt a temp change at all at 1190Mhz.
The balance of the phone has been maintained.
Slip-free material on the rear cover feels better and is more tactile.
The rear cover snaps in tighter than the OEM.
Cons:
Its heavier. Not as much as you would think, but it definitely adds weight. Not necessarily always a bad thing.
Its fatter. The overall size reminds me more of a PDA than a phone now.
The material used on the rear cover is impervious to all sticky material. I ordered two covers, the other one has been ground down trying to fit an M2 disc on the back and nothing is working. I've tried 3M tape, 3M windshield tape, Super Glue, and JBWeld. Its futile.
There is always the off chance that a battery goes off in my hand like a grenade, killing me, my puppy, two cats, two chinchillas, and possibly my wife in one hellacious blaze of glory. Hopefully Bon Jovi will be playing at the time.
Conclusion:
[4.5/5] I ordered an extended battery that was twice the size of my regular battery with a rear cover replacement and got exactly what I expected. Its not for everyone; But if you want your phone to feel more substantial and have a battery that has a half-life apparently on par with the radioactive isotopes at Chernobyl, this might be the battery for you.
More to come as I play with it! Post your thoughts and experiences.
More (resized this time) pics, showing the pronounced camera protection.
I agree, I've had mine now for approx 2 weeks and could never go back. I've been running Hero's Baked Snacks Roms and can easily get 2 days with moderate use if needed (I charge every night however). I'm usually around 55% - 60% (approx) after a full day.
It's definitely fatter but the phone is large anyway. The only drawback for me is that i cant fit any case on it which kinda sucks..

Agreed. I wanted to show the recessed lens because the back cover kind of acts like a case. But I would like to skin it a little more.
I need to find a way to stick the Soundgate disc on the back. This is driving me insane.

I got mine in the mail today. When my girlfriend called to ask me what I was doing this morning, I responded, "waiting on my new battery, of course. " I was able to charge it before I left for work this evening. I had to restart 3x before I reached a full charge. I will be happy when its properly calibrated. Four hours later I am at 89%. I love it.

I wish they'd make this with a Rugged Case that fits it...the Rugged is bulky enough, I think they'd get a good amount of sales for that.
Where is the cheapest place to buy this? Has anyone compared it to the cheap eBay knockoffs?

why spend 69.95 for the 3500 that already comes with extended battery cover, then spend another 29.95 for another cover?
It is a great battery. Been using mine now for a few weeks and have gotten so used to it I don't even notice the bulge anymore. I does make it easier to hold.
Most days now I end up with about 70% battery left. Having the battery power there to do what you want to is nice.
mine will arrive Thursday, looking forward to it

Probably in the thread about the 1750mah Slim Extended Life Battery?
First night with my new battery, and Seidio did not disappoint. Just like with my G1 and extended battery, I was able to go 12 hours of very heavy use. Internet/Games/Phone/Text/ and I watched Avatar in HD using my V-Moda Remix headphones, and streamed about 3 hours of Pandora. After all that I was still at 35% before I gave up and went to bed.
There is no doubt that with moderate to heavy usage this phone will last two days and with light usage a week.
Ok I'm gonna put my flame suit on for this one but I purchased the ebay battery rated at 3000 mah and I think the rear cover looks much better than the seidio one. I get approximately 2 days of use on it while running the baked snacks rom and I only payed $ 10 shipped. The battery never gets hot and the battery life is amazing. I will post up pictures if you guys want but to me the seidio is very expensive and looks really ugly. It's just a bulge out of no where while the ebay one has a smoother transition.

No flaming here
I've been burned in the past by no-name gray market batteries and I sleep a little easier at night knowing I can hunt down the maker of this battery should it do the whole Holy Hand Grenade thing on me.
Seidio is much more likely to hold their quality control to a higher standard since they back the product with their name, whereas a no-name can sell you a 3000mAh battery that is really only a 1650 and they don't have to watch their name dragged through the mud.
Its really a personal preference, and its a very good thing that we both have the choice to put our money where we want.

Haha... Funny yet true Mr. Sack.
Looking forward to getting a reputable uber battery, even if it means turning my back on the EVO to get hit by the ugly stick a few times.
Sorry if this already has been posted, I did not see it posted anywhere on here.
I just went to return my car dock at Sprint and they said they had just received shipments of Sprints' own extended battery + covers for sale. It was $54 after taxes. Comes with 2 covers, one white which is painted so it's smooth, the other a black that has the rubbery finish on the back.
Not bad for the price, I mean sure it can't beat the Ebay ones (which I ordered the 2 3000)
I am going to guess this is basically a Seidio rebrand?

No I did not. I asked but they said they do not know of any coming out yet. I can't find this battery announced anywhere so it must be a brand new item from Sprint, guess I got lucky.

jesus it makes the evo look like a damn hunchback. i wish these companies would make these slimline only.
With phones outpacing battery technology by a very large margin, this is the only way so far. I mean there is the option of carrying a second battery, but that seems a little unnecessary. I'll trade aesthetics for convenience and utility.
Can these be purchased online?
mr2man07 .. how are the 3000mah batteries working for you, have you tested them? I've read eBay batteries are lower than actually rated as they arent regulated, even the Seidio's are falsely rated.

I do not even think they are announced from Sprint yet. I managed to get lucky and the guy told me they had them in stock if I was interested. Told me it was $49.99 and I jumped on it.
I have yet to receive them. They are still about a week out, maybe less. This one has only dropped about 15% over 5 hours of moderate-heavy usage. This is on the Fresh rom with battery-config script.
They are online

Do you know if they add the same height as the seidio 3500? I have the innocase extended on mine with the innocase extended holster ordered. I wonder if it would work with this battery. Also let us know how the battery does. I wonder how many actual mah it is.
I have no idea how it compares to a Seidio. I have not had the opportunity to do a comparison.

30 minutes of Angry Birds, 30 minutes of Reckless Racing, 30 minutes of browsing and 3 youtube videos, the rest being standby with WiFi at 7 1/2 hours total time uncharged, it barely dropped 20%. Whereas my oem battery would be around 40-50%. This being on only the batteries first full chrage.
I love it, it is no longer mandatory to put the phone on the charger just to navigate to clients for work, or to be able to use tethering.
I am a Network Technician, and I use my phone a LOT during work days, and this battery will help me greatly.
Obviously, this is not for everybody. I see my phone as a utility, a tool for my job and a personal gadget/toy on off-hours, not some fashion device, so its "beauty" is not as important as its functionality.
Jesus H Christ, that backplate and battery looks bigger and crappier than my Chinese-made 3500mAh, which I got two of at just over 1/3 the price.

Rule of thumb on these is most batteries are shipped with a 50-60% charge from the manufacturer . It also has yet to be seen if this battery is truely a 2600mah . As its well known from Batteryboss even the Seidio doesnt hold a true 3500mah charge . From batteryboss the Seidio is only holding 80% of its advertised capacity . If the battery from Sprint holds true to that ratio it still will hold a charge of 2080mah (This is just theory and estimated) . You should see an improvement over battery performance from stock . Give the battery a few charge / discharge cycles .
Just grabbed one last night and not really sure if Im gonna keep it. The main issue I have is my phone is completely naked now. Ive got no holster or protective case and Im paranoid about dropping it. Gonna try and see if theres some type of case at best buy tonight that will fit this battery even if I have to modify it.
As far as life goes, Just took it off the charger so gonna try and use it heavier than normal today and see what I get
Just thought I would contribute my two cents. Like many others, I was disappointed (but expected as much) with the short battery life. I work 12 hour shifts on the weekends and it was a chore to keep charging the phone.
So I called to Verizon, complained and they tried to get me to go in the store and exchange the entire phone (because I wad in the 14 day period). I explained that I know that the battery is the issue, not the phone and explained to him a few things to prove I was tech savvy (plus, I didn't want to spend another two hours configuring another phone).
He said that the only replacement part he could send was the extended battery (which is what I wanted anyway). He sent it overnight free of charge (as it should be in the Thunderbolt's case).
I can honestly attest, after a week of use, that even with constant downloading/streaming, the battery does last my entire 12 hour shift without charging.
The only downside is the fact I can't find a case for my phone with an extended battery. (I'm sad that my Seido Innocase will probably be eBayed). HTC should at least had made a make shift case, anything that could serve as a barrier between my work hands or any table surface.
But oh well, I mainly gave up my N1 so that I could be grandfathered into Verizon's unlimited 4G network when tiers come out.
Hope this info helps.

I too have had the extended battery for about a week now and I am very happy with it. I work 10 hour days and I'm always near a car charger but I don't want to constantly have my phone charging. Like you said the only downside side is the lack of cases. I had to cut my phone case to make it usable.

This is for another thread, but the gist of it is once vz comes out with new tiered data plans (meaning 1/3/5/10 gb etc), the existing plan you are on will stay at the unlimited level.
ie: keeping your existing plan when it is no longer available is called being grandfathered.

In my opinion, I would rather get the extended battery instead of having an extra one. I for one, don't like opening and shutting the back plate of the phone so often. That is how it easily breaks......especially the tabs that hold the back plate.....IMHO...better off going with the extended battery!
This is a bad ass phone, i think the extended battery makes it look even more bad ass. Just my opinion.

I think the extra battery life that the extended battery provides outweighs the added weight/bulk. The battery definitely does add a lot of weight to the device though =/

Agree 1000%! The extra grip is key for me, because i generally drop my phones not super often but it does happen. I dig the extra bulk. Its really not that bad. Plus it works great. Gets me through all day. In fact, i purposely try to kill it at night because i wanna give it a good full charge while i sleep. So ill pull up angry birds and play for a while. Takes me a while to kill this thing, works great!

The phone's already so big and heavy (compared to anything I've been carrying the last couple of years), what's an extra 1/4" inch and 2 ounces...?
I was fairly critical of the extended battery until I bought one on Monday to see for myself the benefits vs costs (price in weight and bulk) of it. It's definitely big, ugly, and doesn't help me grip the phone any better (makes it worse for me), but after getting 31 hours (with heavy use for me) off my first charge, I decided I could put up with it. Today I'm down to 82% after 7 hours of moderate use, so looking to get about the same drain as original test.

I charged my extended battery to full and took it out and placed my fully charged standard battery in and I believe it increased the battery time on it. It's lasting twice as long.... Might be a calibration issue aka software problem. Any one test the battery out of the phone after the phone says the battery is low?

Hello there.
Im new here but i saw that there are a lot of posts about those batteries but there is no main thread to explain\share\review information about this batteries.
so I thought we need this one.
What is ANKER? Anker is a brand of batteries Fantasia Trading LLC company known more as a U.S. laptopmate
They have a website? Yes, [link will be here later]
What is special about the battery? The ANKER batteries reach a volume of 1900MAH Unlike the original Samsung battery [1650MAH], as of this moment is the most powerful battery-sized or enlarged with same size as original.
There is also a battery of 1750, does not interest most of us when the 1900
Okay, and how long a battery that adds me? It adds about 20%, of course it depends on the use
Do I need a new cover? No, the battery is the same size as the original so that it fits your device without the new cover
Is safe to use? Nothing is certain in this life, but so far everyone who has this battery was pleased ...
I heard about the guy that blew a battery ... has a documented case of a guy on XDA generic charger used to charge the battery outside the device, if you use an external charger use only original ANKER
Must use external charger? No, the battery is loaded in the device excellent with the original samsung charger.
OK, so where I buy it? The battery is not available for sale in all countries directly, but you can check\buy it from the manufacturer's EBAY or AMAZON store
What are most recommended initial charging? Recommended to 3 ~ 4 full discharge cycles (0% -100%) before starting to use a normal battery
more Q&A to come
reserved/reserved
I got this battery 2 months now and is really decent (i paid 11euros all included). With medium usage and 100 apps on my phone it's enough for one day. 50 apps and low usage with wifi on all day i get 50% by the time i go to bed.
Is this one really better than the stock battery? and is it works?

Well it having an extra 250mah will give it about 20% extra juice. And yes it does work.
Have a good day.

The reason I asked is because other brands on ebay claims the same but from what I've seen the other says they actually worse than Sam's original one and just fake.
it seems Anker is the only one on ebay which is works good?
Thanks

No this one is actually better. Not 20% but about 15%. It keeps me running for on day with medium to heavy usage.
It is a good battery at a good price. However, I have noticed that sometimes when my battery drops to <15%, the phone will just turn off right away without discharging all the way to 0%. Other than that it's worth the money.
I have had nothing but trouble since I bought mine. Bought froma reputable Ebay dealer.
Random freeze ups, phone would just die.
Tried multiple ROMS/Multiple kernels. Always thought it HAD to be something I was running, but when I went back to factory , my phone was stable again.
It's quite a drawn out story, but long story short, Im curious if I got a dud or if they all have a similar flaw?!?
No problems here. As other users wrote... it's not actually a 20% improvement but it is an improvement. I think that my battery is about 10% better but that's based on my average usage and observations.
Sounds like yours is a dud. I got two (had them shipped back home, then family shipped them to me since ebay seller didn't ship to Korea) and they work very well in my Korean SII, lasts longer than my stock batteries now.
are there any over heating problems with this battery?
Just brought this battery from Amazon for £10.99 will post update when I have got it and used it for awhile. Seems like a good bargain for the extra juice and the fact that it is the same size as original battery seems great
i am using it and i am fu**ing love it indeed

hi there you say everyone is happy that bought the battery -- iam not
mine lasted for 2 minutes before blowing up , iam not the only user that has had this either
if you read the amazon reviews for the sensation anker battery and the sgs2 anker battery other people have had them blow up as well
you say to only charge them in an offical anker charger but 90% of the places that sell them sell them with a cheap chinese charger and you havent shown any pictures of the genuine charger or anything which is a bit useless -- for those wanting to know it is white and has black writting that says ''anker'' the cheap chinese chargers are black and crap
also laptop me or whoever they are didnt give a monkeys about the battery blowing up and when i emailed them they didnt respond -- great customer services that
iam sorry but for £16 you can buy a genuine samsung battery with a bigger mah rating that can als be charged in an offical samsung desktop charger why risk house fires etc with an exploding battery and dodgy chinese charger
i wouldnt recomend the anker battery to my worst enemy let alone a forum full of sgs2 users looking for a bigger battery
a quick google of ''anker exploding battery'' will bring you back quite a few hits of other users and exploding batterys one guy had one explode in his phone

thats my battery after 2 minutes in the charger and here is the thread that i posted in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19695771&postcount=5
also why another thread on anker batterys?? we already have a few in this section already running what makes this an offical one?? is the op laptopme pushing their batterys or something??
I got two of these batteries and one charged off the ebay.. I'm using it for more than 20 days and it is working quite good. would say the battery lasting at least %10 to %20 more than the stock battery and I'm loving it
Thanks

Just wanted to share that info. I wouldn't waste my my money when their are much cheaper, just as good alternatives.
I however bought the Hyperion extended battery and couldn't be happier for just over $20 shipped from Amazon. I went about 48 hours on the first charge with 17% left (see screen capture below). I haven't even gone through the 4-5 discharge cycles yet and it's amazing. I love the feel of the thicker phone. Not much heavier, but completely worth it. The fit of the cover is excellent.

I was wondering, is there really anything special about the mugen that makes it better than other bands, such as hyperion?

Agreed! And the cover is great. I have no idea what Mugen is thinking.
holy ****nitzz...100$ for only like 200 more mah wow so lame
tigerboom said:
The problem with cheaper batteries is that they use cheap low quality cells. In the begining they provide super-good results, but after 1-2 months they degrade radically, so if you want a year of performance you have to buy 4-6 such batteries.
Mugen uses good quality japanese cells and they last for 1 or 2 years, so you just buy one battery and use it for longer period -> lower cost and less hassle.

He's just saying it's possible and that the only real way to find out the quality of a battery is to see its performance over time. Third party batteries can be hit or miss.

I've been asking that same question since there was another thread about Mugen making an extended battery.
its more expensive because of the so called higher quality cells are being used in higher priced batteries....
i would love to have someone who has money buyy one and try it out and if its not good return it

Not trying to flame you here but where have you seen it "proven"??
I certainly agree there seems to be quite a few happy purchasers in these forums for the Hyperion battery and that's certainly great and I, myself just recently ordered the Hyperion battery as well, but let's put some things in perspective here...
* As tigerboom pointed out, DON'T expect longevity with the Hyperion battery. At about 1/2 the cost of the OEM battery and at the same time supposedly 2x the capacity...That should already be a strong indicator there's sacrifices going on. Then again, my smartphone lifecycle is about a year or a little longer anyway so if the cheapo batteries can hold up for that long then I'm golden!
* There's little to no regulation on how a manufacturer goes about rating their battery's capacity! I'd be willing wager that the Hyperion's rated 3800mAH is probably closer to the neighborhood of 2700mAH (give or take)...Whereas with the Mugens (being a very well known and renowned brand) is probably right at the rated capacity. Then again, even if the cheapo Hyperions are well less than their rated capacity but still well more than the stock battery? Heck that's still a win in my book!
* Don't expect great customer service on cheapo batteries.
All in all, give the quality batteries like the Mugen their due, but unless you plan to keep your phone for a LONG LONG time (cause that battery ain't gonna fit in your new one!) and need a rock solid dependable battery thats got a capacity to last until the next ice-age, them cheapo Hyperions will probably do the job just fine and not break the bank!
Got the Hyperion and so far so good. I get a full day of usage now.

The Hyperion is only 20$..... It's not like it's actually as big as it advertises. If anything it's probably only about 1000 mAh bigger than the original. Mugen are built for quality, which is why they're so expensive.

Take a look at this:
http://batteryboss.org/
Basically every third party battery maker lies about capacity. Mugen, Seidio, etc...
even teh OEMs aren't quite at their rated capacity, though they are definitely the closest to what they advertise

Right, theres no way to guarantee exact mAh. Some OEM batteries do say a "typical" and "maximum" mAh rating since it does vary from battery to battery.
However, the third party guys being 20-30% off from their supposed rating is ridiculous. 5-10% would be acceptable.
can anyone confirm the max time they get running as a hot spot with hyperion?

I haven't used the phone as a hot spot long enough to drain the whole battery, but I ran it for a while and remember thinking the drain really wasn't too bad. Sorry, can't be more precise with numbers.
