Warning:
I do not expect this to work at all. I have no doubt I left out something important. If it fails, do let me know, but don't take it out on me, lol.
That being said, does anybody want to give it a shot? I do not have my fire here at the office, and am actually running out for an appointment I am now quite late for.
Cheers
Off the top mf my head the wireless module will not work - damn I wish I had more time before tonight.
Even tho I have 3 fires I played 15$ each for. I still wouldn't attempt this..

Well yes, that would normally be the idea, but I was excited I got it compiled and unfortunately I won't be home until after midnight est to play around with it. It's there if anyone wants to try it and doesn't want to wait. If you don't, then don't - it's that simple.
My kernel will be done tonight, and it *should* work. Ill bite the bullet with my own. Factory cable comes in tomorrow

I tried making my own, but without some "helping hands" it was a PITA and the wires kept breaking. 1k ohm from pin 1 to pin 4. or a bare wire.
I just wish I was somewhere I could be working on this, it is not my custom to hand out something completely untested. Hopefully Death's works well.

Thats half the fun. I got some pinched nerve on left side that acts up so if I hold stuff a certain angle, my left hand cramps up.
More than once I've spilled hot solder while trying my damndest to not drop the iron.
I find some Makers Mark makes it a little smoother.

You could make one for free if you have a 1k resistor, a spare cable, a soldering iron and some time.
Btw, sell me one fir 50? 300+% is a nice profit margin

I changed the fascia on my arc yesterday, all seemed fine except... I damaged a component on the lower pcb(a cube about 3mm¤ on the board behind the buttons)and now the external speaker doesn't work. I've googled to try and find the part ID but can only find photos of the board, no schematics, or a list of chips, but it's not a chip. Does anyone know if it can be repaired or if the pcb can be bought anywhere? I'm going to buy a new phone in June/July, and I can just about live with vibrate only, but any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Sorry I could not see on my phone last night, I have tried to zoom in, cant read the component details can you read them at your end? the IC will be the Audio amp and I think the two ringed components are resisters and the two gold pads on the PCB are speaker connections, can you confirm Sinclair and note anything on the two ringed components.
EDIT: Is it the board that's damaged or the component knocked off, if so, do you still have the component?
Also if they are resistors markings will either be formatted '103' or 'R068'.
The component was halved in two. Half is on the board, the other half is not... I'll open it up in an hour or so, once I've got rid of the hangover

I can't get a decent picture, the macro lens on my camera is only good for 100 cm so it's worse than the one I posted. Tried google, there are a few sellers on ebay/alibaba but they don't break down to individual components, only the board itself. On the board there's only the pcb identifiers but no individual tags, but it seems to be some kind of amplifier as it's part of the general audio path and the last component before it goes to the speaker. I've attached a zoom of the original but it's not any better resolution. Thanks for your help, btw, but don't trouble yourself too much. Might buy a board, plus when I searched Ebay there were a few Arc S's going for attractive prices. Or might just go for the Xperia S if my coupon comes up
ps yeah, wifi antenna wasn't snapped in properly

As its a balanced output, you can short out the broken resister with a single strand of wire you will get a reasonable output (not perfect) you will have to scrape off the solder resist paint (green) from the side where the broken resistor(unless you can still get on the pad) and solder the wire from there to the good side of the resistor.
Ps can you read the number on the good resistor?
Thanks, wasn't sure if I could bypass anything but I'll get some wire & an iron and give it a shot. I'll let you know how I get on, probably tomorrow pm as it'll involve another trip to the pub...

Watched Uniteds match on Alba, didn't deserve 3 pts, lets hear how you get on with the board on g+, win against Hibs 17 pts clear, they should have had the 10 pt deduction at the start of next season, as they went into voluntary liquidation when it suited them (they wouldn't have done it if they were 5pts clear of Celtic at the time).

No way that thing will hold a Galaxy Nexus securely. The USB port on the phone is already a very weak connection. Not to mention, that thing will probably destroy your port even more than it might already be.
This would actually be great. Might have to put some money towards it.
i'm much more interested in the software that lets you use your phone as a display.

He didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it's going to wreck the micro-usb port, which it most likely will.
Using the micro-usb to hold up the phone on its own weight? You’re asking to break the port and possibly ruin the phone.
no thanks
I dont think there should be any issues with this as long as you are careful when first putting it in the micro slot. Just like with a dock or regular charging cable, if you jam it in there, its going to cause havoc. And if it does break it, my phone is under a yr warranty so I wont mind. I think this is going to be a great product. I will write a review once they are shipped in Sept.
I thought about getting one for the car, but then I thought what would happen at a hard braking situation... I'll pass.

I have several palm backs and touchstones, copper tape, small ga wire, soldering irons, Fluke 77, and am experienced with the high waf mod on a couple other phones but the Tmo Note2 kicked my butt. Well, im sure I could do it by taking the phone apart and soldering into the USB connector, but I havent got that desperate yet lol.

I did the mod, and no it does not work with the T-Mobile version. I verified voltage, and polarity with no luck. The phone just won't detect that there is a charge on the pins... Hopefully it's software and someone can enable the induction feature.
Has anyone tested to see if charging will work from those pins on one of the two hybrid roms?

Don't have any suggestions but you could always try to make one out of simple things such as legos or knex. This is if you don't mind spending some time though.
They have some charging valets at many stores. May not be big enough for what you want, but try Staples or other Office Supply stores.

did your $40 car dock come in scratched all to hell like mine did?
So...story continues. Griffin is out of docks, but sent it back so I can work with Motorola. Griffin ran a test and reported it had reversed polarity?! Motorola...very difficult to work with...depends in who you talk to. When I finally got the right person they sent me an expedited replacement. Received today...DOESNT WORK EITHER! Double checked with no case. Plugged in a charger...phone received charge. Tried with my wife's MotoX...still nothing. Called Motorola first this time...talked to 2 people explained story twice...'we'll send you a new dock when we receive the broken docks'...no way! Demanded expedited shipping AND send before you receive...we'll see. Got a call back...I think it was someone from original call...told him the story too...said he would call me back tonight about next day air...no call...more drama later

These docks are really not impressive. Mine rarely goes into car mode and charges only after pushing and jiggling the usb connector.
How exactly does the phone know to go into car mode? Is there a chip in the dock or does the phone detect something else that puts it into car mode?

no they really are not. mine also rarely goes into car mode. sometimes i get car mode and then it immediately goes into daydream. and then both turn off. but i also think its a coding issue on motos side. cause when docked on the coffee table. if you use the phone and dont redock it... daydream does not come back.
