Hello, Just received the A100 today and was happy to note that it had Arabic typing/viewing support, but that was dashed the moment I saw the font used to render them. It is absolutely horrible. Is there any way to add/swap the arabic font support package/file/dll? Sorry if this is a noob question but googling didn't help and the Search feature here in unavailable. Thanks!
Hang in there mate... I'm looking into it too! I think there is a solution for it because I have found one for Droid and Xoom... Maybe a little modification and it might work!

I managed to change the honeycomb original Arabic font (which is by the way somewhat okay) to Almohanad font (it's the same as my real name!!!!!)
I'm attaching some images for comparison...
Unzip the attached zip file to /system/fonts
Make sure to back up your original font (DroidSansArabic.ttf) though for future reversing...
Good luck mate!
thank you soooooooooooo much
can you please add more fonts as well?
So in theory I should be able to substitute any font I want? Just rename it to DroidSansArabic.ttf and tick the correct permissions? You rock by the way. Just one more Q. How do you have that split screen keyboard? Which KB is it? I have the thunm keyboard but it does not support Arabic input.
Actually, your theory turned out to be a fact! Yes, you can substitute any font with DroidSansArabic.ttf, but it has to be in .tff format.
Thanks
The keyboards are:
- Go Keyboard > grey/black color > free
- SwiftKey X Tablet Keybooard > blue neon color > paid around $5
Good luck...

Cool! Yah give it a try...

Nope. Didn't work, it told me I should by the Tablet version. The normal version looks like crap.
Then you ought to get the tablet version, it's really worth it!!!

I most likely will, thanks. Now I'm going to try this out on my HTC Flyer and see if it works. Just upgraded it to HC.
Salam,
Tested on rooted Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it works.
NB : I had to set up permission after copying the file using ES File explorer (Enable root mode and mount /system)
Thank you very much Bro !
Have any of you tried Font Changer on the market? It's a nice and easy solution to changing fonts across the systrem, it also lets you change specific fonts, such as the Arabic font. It might be easier if you want to change and try out different fonts quickly and easily, as long as you're rooted of course, works well on our tabs, use it myself.

I read keyboard being mentioned, don't know if any of you have tried this but, Thumb Keyboard is an excellent keyboard and highly configurable too.

+1, free until beta expires in August.
Other good keyboards are Thumb keyboard and Smart Keyboard both of which I've used as well.
I perfer Smart Keyboard. Quite costumizeable. Try it and buy the pro version if you like it!

I'm new to swiftkey x beta and liking it a lot so thanks for the heads up.
But.... the correction and suggestions don't work in the stock email app which is a bit of a bummer. Its sooo much better than the stock samsung keyboard.
Might go ask on the swiftkey web page if no one here has any quick and easy fix.
Edit: Found this is common for after market keyboards on the i9100 email app Have also sent question to swiftkey
Wish there was an easy way to change the keyboard when in an app without going to home screen. On my i8000 running froyo i used to be able to hold the settings button the keyboard and the keyboard choices came up. Any way to access the choise of keybaord easily??????
SlideIT ftw.

+1 on that. It's simple and does what it's supposed to do well. Plus, if you search the I9000 forum, you'll find some nice skins, yes it's free and you can change the skin color!

Smart Keyboard has been my favourite for quite some time now. Plus I like the keyboard being a little longer as I find I hit the '.' so many times on the samsung keyboard and others. Its got a very good intuitive learning dictionary (think you have to turn it on first in settings).
Smart keyboard is great and has a lot of customization to it.
Personally love Swift Key. Can pretty much type a message only using the space bar.

I don't know about Skype. I am trying to learn it but somehow it just seems bad..so slow and annoying. Just more practice needed?
+1 for smart keyboard. Tried the different keyboards when I got my nexus one and just felt that the smart keyboard where right for me. It has the feature that makes iPhone keyboard so great that it makes the letters bigger by prediction of what word you are typing "behind the scene"

there's an app for that... go to the play store and search for an app called perfect keyboard. don't remember if it costs anything but not only can you choose the 123 board as an option, you can also theme the keyboard and resize it to match your current theme. try it out!
Hey auto thanks for the reply but the screenshot that I posted foes the same thing. But I actually was trying to stay away from using a third party keyboard. Wanted yo mow if a dev could implement the number pad within the stock ics keyboard. But thanks for the suggestion though. I will try our perfect if all else fails. I used to use better keyboard with the old android but ics keyboard rocks!

I knew about that... As he said, I don't want third party apps. I am looking for something REALLY simple. A numeric keypad, just like the stock one when you open something that request it (when you're setting the time on Alarm app). Maybe a tweak to make it user openable?

Hi im new around here,
I know there are a lot of emoji thread out there, but i can't seem to find one to help with my problems.
The thing is that I am able to see all emoji when i use the EmojiFont.ttf yet if i switched to another font, I am only able to see some of it.
Is there anyway to change that?
I use "Emoji Font Updater(Root)" from the market. It's cheap and works for me!

Hi guys.
I had struggle using the stock keyboard and it was a bit of hell looking for an alternative.
So I came across one of my favorite keyboard ever since on my Nexus. The AOSP keyboard but of course, ported from CM10. So credits to the devs of CM10
If you will like to flash it as well. I have it on my drop box
AOSP JB Keyboard
http://db.tt/xbIrWe7h
Installation Steps:
1. Power off your S3 phone
2. Boot into recovery for CWM
3. Navigate to the download folder of your internal memory
4. Flash and reboot.
When you reboot. Don't forget to go into
Settings > Language and input. Click then second option to make AOSP your default keyboard.
Its fast and flawless. In my opinion, uses less RAM too.

Few questions I have,
Dose this replace anything (setting/existing keyboard) or just adds the AOSP's keyboard?
Should it work on all roms? -odexed/deodexed/ICS/JB...
Dose it support all of the stock languages?
And can it be uninstalled?
Sorry if some of the questions are elementary but I'm having some backup issues so I'm double-checking everything I install... (better be noob then sorry)

It doesn't replace your keyboard. It just installs as an extra keyboard so it's up to you to choose which one you want as a default keyboard. Either Aosp key board or Samsung keyboard.
It works on odex and deodexed.
I'm not too sure if it works on ICS, although it should.
It works very well on Jelly bean.
If you want it uninstalled, simply flash you Rom again and it wipes it off.
On the other hand, you can use your file explorer to open the .zip and go to > System> apps>
Install LatinIME.apk just like a normal application.
That way it won't be a system app and you can easily uninstall from your applications manager without having to flash your Rom all over again.

Hey guys, I'm a relative from the AT&T LGOG community.
I made a small (amateurish) theme for the mms.apk for my phone and wanted to try and port it to the sprint variant.
I used the LGUSMms.apk from a deodexed ZV9 stock ROM (posted by b-reezy HERE).
I do not have the Sprint LGOG and therefor have not been able to test this.
Some great users have tested and reported it works. Thanks guys.
LINK to original AT&T thread.
I have spent the last 2 days re-theming the conversation skins for the stock LGUSMms.apk.
I was inspired by whiteguypl's theme HERE.
This has his dark holo theme included. (Has the same little issue where the text color of links that people send you is the same as the background color).
(If you have an issue with this whiteguypl, please let me know).
I have included screenshots for all the themes.
I know they are a little rough, I am still brand new to themeing.
This was some pretty tough work (mostly because I had to learn a lot and made a few mistakes in the process).
Usual Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any harm done to your device from flashing this.
I have flashed it fine on my phone without issues but cannot promise the same for you.
This replaces the LGUSMms.apk from /system/app/, so I strongly recommend either a system backup in recovery or at least making a copy of your LGUSMms.apk before installation.
Install via recovery.

Are you on a deodexed rom?
If not, maybe try renaming /system/app/LGUSMms.odex to LGUSMms.odex.bak (I'm assuming this is the name of it).
Then reboot.
I had a user say that that worked for another mod on a stock odexed rom.

Right, if you are deodexed there shouldn't be a .odex file, so there shouldn't have been anything to rename (if you renamed the .apk then the system won't see the app anymore, you'll want to change it back).
Did you try changing the conversation skin at all? Maybe one just didn't work (my guess it would be the blue striped background, the image names were different).
Can you try copying the THIS file (just the .apk in the .zip, maybe the .zip didn't flash right) to /system/app and making sure permissions are set to -rw-r--r--.
You'll have to reboot every time you change an app in there.
Thanks, and sorry it didn't work like it should have at first, I appreciate the help.

Great!
By copying the .apk or something else?
If so, maybe the .zip was messed up.
I'm thinking maybe the script is not mounting the partition correctly due to differences between the AT&T and Sprint versions.

Looks like that may have been the issue, changed the script, updated to V1.2.

And I was hoping to do more, but don't know when (see above) and was also hoping to fix the text color issues. I have been looking around in the .xmls and think I may have found the link colors, but I have yet to find out where the colors are set for individual skins (ie. the green "nature" theme has blue text in it because the original paper skin had blue text in it, I haven't been able to find where that is set).
Just wanted to give you an update, changed ROM's and flashed V1.2 and it worked perfect.
Works great wish we had more color schemes or choices
