Need help with Desire CDMA Stock ROM! - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. I finally retired my Desire for a new Electrify, and am now trying to find a stock CDMA ROM I can flash but every one I try seems to not want to install. I can install CM7, Ultimate Droid, MIUI, but can't seem to find a working STOCK ROM. Can anyone here help out? I'm updated to the latest CWM, if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Anybody? Please?

This is exactly what you are looking for. And I highly recommend it as I have used it for over a month with no issues at all.
Read up on this link and go for it. It is just like stock but very fast.
You can also flash a new kernel which I also recommend from pershoot.

Just curious as to why you specifically didn't want Cyanogenmod?
When I first got my first android phone I really didn't think I'd ever need anything more than a rooted stock rom, but after trying CM6 (which was the latest at the time), I never wanted to be on a stock ROM. CM really gives you the feeling of the stock rom (I even just install the stock launcher instead of ADW) but with tons of useful improvements in speed, battery life, and usability.
Not trying to persuade, but just wonderin I always keep a rooted stock 2.2 backup just in case, but I've been using CM7 as my daily for couple weeks now and its great.
The swype keyboard thats why I dindt put it, I dindnt make a backup

How do I know what kernal to flash and how do I do it?

I need help understanding what kernals do and how to know which one to use. I am currently running CM7. Also I don't quite understand how to flash it over my rom. Any help would be greaty appreciated.

[q] looking for a good cricket rom for evo 4g

Looking for a good rom that would work well with cricket, try jiminy v but had issue installing the zip due to edify problems, even try the zip suggested to avoid that problem with no result. Anyone have a rom out there, and newer.
Mik3D worked great for me. It's Sense 3.0

you wont be able to update just the sense part of your 2.3.4. you will need to download a custom ROM that has sense 3.0 or higher already built into it.
then will i have to re-root? Do you know of such a rom?

you wont loose root because you will flash the rom in recovery. just keep an eye on the development section

+1 on this. It is a beautiful rom that is just getting better with each update. You can find it here.

I can third this. One of the most solid roms I've run, by one of the most dedicated devs.

(my girlfriend) recently updated her software to 2.3.4, the phone has never been rooted b4, just to be sure, there is currently no way to root? if so how? i recently followed the same steps i did on my own phone a few months back (unrevoked3) but was unsuccessful.

[Q] Custom ROMs dont seem to work on my phone. Am i doing something wrong?

Hello,
Keep in mind that I am relatively new to rooting, I have tried before with an HTC Hero CDMA and that never worked so i got this phone and rooted it. I have a rooted HTC Wildfire S CDMA MARVELC Virgin Mobile USA with Official ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.8 and whenever i flash a custom ROM it doesn't load the Virgin Mobile USA service. I'm not sure how to fix this and was wondering if i did something wrong or if there is anyway to fix it. Again, I'm new to this so any advice is appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to view my post and Thanks for any advice you have.
Make sure its a cdma ROM most are stock one is 3.5 (WIP) and a CM7 ROM is on the way.

Alright. I just figured out why the most recent ROM failed. It was designed for a MARVEL. As for Jikantaru XE ROM I'm not sure why that didn't work. I'll just wait for Cyanogen Mod 7 to come out. Thanks
For cdma phones it has to say marvelc
