replaced digitizer unresponsive - HTC Wildfire S

Hi all,
the girlfriend cracked the digitzer on her (new) Wildfire S, so I replaced it with one I got from ebay (seems genuine). It works, but often I need to try 5 or 6 times until I can slide the screenlock thingy or until it reacts to touch. This only happens after the phone is awoken from standby mode - after the initial hiccups the touch works fine.
The only thing I could think of causing it, is that I reused the old glue, and that it's not spread evenly. Could that be? The connectors are fine and undamaged.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

same here and + black screen after call, wont unlock.
Unlocks only after usb pluged to pc or battery removed.

happens to me too, it's a sense bug

but it worked fine before - never had any problems up until the exchange...

You can check the screen digitizer by keying in *#*#3424#*#*,
that will launch the GSD.apk app, for hardware testing.
The is also a HTC screen calibration app. I have not tried to see if it works on the WFS but here it is. It is from the T-Mobile G2.

thank you. I tried the gsd.apk, but it didn't give me much information - I was able to do a line test, which lets me draw a line on the screen. that worked fine.
IMO it must be a hardware problem, either the connection or the digitizer itself. although it works fine, when it works, it needs a few seconds and/or taps to wake up. the digitizer itself looked exactly like the original, same serial no., labels etc.
looks like it's going to be a case for ebay, just to get rid of it...

I found a solution to this problem, it requires the diag file from xtc clip, but not the clip itself. I shall upload the file later tomorrow when I get my clip back.
If you already have access to the diag file follow these simple steps
Make a gold card (plenty of tutorials, use search)
Copy diag file to goldcard
Boot to bootloader (volume down and power)
Wait
You may get an error, ignore it and press vol down to exit
Screen will have the following message
Action => flash
Vol down => diag
Press vol down for diag NOT POWER
you will quickly see a screen asking you to put phone on a flat surface for TP calibration ... do it
Once that is done, you will see a menu about clear S58 data. Ignore it as you need xtc clip for that, and the repair is already done. Simply pull the battery and reboot
Warning!!! Tested by myself on 3 (three) phones running pure stock. Not been tested with custom roms or any other modification. Doing this will also do a full factory reset on the phone.
I take no credit for the fix as I merely observed the effect during an unlock with similar problem. I also accept no responsibility for damages caused ... its not my work afterall.
If I receive another phone with similar problem for repair, I shall post youtube video as evidence.
Hope it helps

Someone made a calibration screen, does it work?
I just happened to me, I changed the screen, and now can not unlock the screen or answer the phone, only after a few seconds the screen becomes completely responsive to the touch, I think because the screen was changed, the software takes the phone in May more time to think it has another screen. If a developer could help us to cancel during the analysis of the screen or to jump over it, would be the only solution I think. Someone made a calibration screen, does it work?

Here's the diag file, see my post a little further up for instructions.
in short, extract the nbh file to the root of your SD and boot in bootloader, follow on screen prompts. when you get to a menu saying CLEAR S58 DATA, simply stop and pull the battery. by this point the repair is already complete
again, i take no credit or responsibility for any damages, and this has only been tested on STOCK phones without any modifications. Please post any success.
-=EDIT=- please note this will do a full factory reset so make backups if needed. NBH file is taken from xtc clip, but the clip itself is not required for touch calibration. if you own an xtc clip or have access to one, use the clear S58 data option to unlock and s-off etc

Thank you )
Thank you so much fixed the problem runnig JikantaruROM v1.1 Euro version
You saved me from smashing my phone ))
did not work at first had to rename .rar to .zip

i am running cm7 and this fixed my freezing after unlock problem perfectly thank you very much
edit: i wrote a tutorial about it here, thanks a lot senaia

Nice job!
Tank you ! The screen its ok now !

I still sometimes get the problem but only sometimes. The other problem I still have is it sometimes goes crazy and presses things itself. Any solution to this problem?

I believe I followed this to the letter, like another person I used winrar to open the file then winzip to rezip as .zip.
In bootloader, it says "parsing" but does not do anything besides go back to the normal HBOOT screen.
any suggestions?

yes i have done both and after the phone reboots i can hear sounds but i am still unable to see anything on the screen
Edit - I take that back, if it's still not working after a reboot
Have you tried entering the bootloader and re-flashing with the stock ROM?
If you can't see anything at all on the screen, no splash screens etc, even after soft-reset or entering the bootloader, then it sounds like you have a hardware problem (screen failure).

"PLEASE HELP"
It's a tricky situation. So if you hold down Volume Down (and keep it held down) and press the reset button, then you still don't have anything come up on the screen ?
How about if you try a hard reset, does anything come up then ? You can hear the phone making sounds, so it seems like it's just the screen ?
Putting the charger in doesn't help, does it ?
You could try flashing a stock ROM from SD card and seeing what happens.
You might well have to send it back under warranty with HardSPL still on. In that case, if it was me, then if they tried to say the warranty was void just because of HardSPL I would argue very strongly against that and ask them to prove it - e.g. how can HardSPL stop your screen working ? I don't know what country you're in, but in the UK I think our consumer protection laws would have something to say about that.

I've never flashed via SD, so I could be wrong on this. But I thought it was still possible. I see that the instructions (in the sticky on flashing ROMs) say to put it into the bootloader and "follow the on-screen instructions". I wonder if it's possible to just wait for a while and then press the appropriate key ? Though I don't know what the "appropriate key" is.
Perhaps someone who has flashed via SD can comment further, e.g. as to whether it's possible to do this without seeing the screen ?

man i really need to fix this maybe you can ask around for me since i'm new here & really don't know anybody on this board
I know it's frustrating, I'd be kinda worried if I had an apparently-non-working screen too. But please be patient, and wait for more people to see your posting. The folks in the US will be coming online around this sort of time, so there will be more people looking in and hopefully someone can help further.
Flash without seeing the screen
Enter boot loader even if you can not see the screen. You can flash your phone to stock then enter boot loader again and hard spl. I had a similar situation and was able to complete the process and warranty repair with AT&T no problems, or you can pay to have it fixed at an outside shop. I was quoted 150 and refused to spend that muck so I flashed the phone without seeing the screen...
I saw your post over on Sergio's thread but decided to answer you here.
You do have a blown screen, no doubt there. How that happened is not really relevant.
My best advise is to connect your phone to your PC and wait for the activesync connection to come up. Once that happens you know you have a good connection and can flash. Run the RUU (or exe) for your stock ROM, the on screen (PC Screen) prompts will let you know if it can't proceed. Once the stock ROM is back on it, follow the same procedure and put the stock SPL back. Then send it off to get the screen replaced.
Hope that helps

Flashing witout screen
Step 1
Enter boot loader mode (* Remove the back cover from the phone.
* Hold the Volume Down button.
* Use the stylus to press the reset hole.
* Or if the device was powered off, press the power button whilst holding down the Volume Down button.)
and attach to computer. (wait 30 to 60 seconds)
Step 2
Check device manager for HTC mobile sync under mobile devices.(Active sync will not work in boot loader mode)
Step 3
Flash using Rhodium CustomRUU on your PC. (use original ROM from At&T.
Step 4 repeat for Radio
Step 5 Use Stock_SPL_Restore_087.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 repeat the process with it.
This should work it did for me. Let me know if you run into problems.

Need help with blank screen

Few days ago, my G2's screen just went blank (dark blueish if I press any buttons on it). I live in Canada, so can't send it back to Tmobile since I'm not with them. But, I can send it back to HTC since it's still under warranty. Only problem is that I rooted the phone and s-off and then flashed Virtous Rom on it couple of months ago.
With the help of a senior member (eunkipark92), i was able to install ADB, and using that I can see that it recognizes my device when connected with PC. Now, I don't know whether the problem is with my phone's software or with the hardware (screen) itself.
I say that because I had a pattern set up to unlock the code before the screen went blank and even now I can swipe my finger on the screen in the specific manner that I used to before and it would unlock the phone. The screen still remains blank (dark blue) ofcourse, but I can change the phone's profile from vibration to loud etc after unlocking the screen by pressing the volume key up or down.
I was told by another member (PaganAng31) that if I can totally brick the phone using a command in ADB something like "dd = /dev/block/mmblk1p3" there will be noway for HTC people to figure out whether or not the phone was rooted before. But he wasn't sure and asked me to post here.
Now my first attempt will be to fix it somehow or unroot the phone and put the stock rom back in using ADB and then send it back to HTC. If I can't do that, then I would totally brick it (only if it's 100% sure that HTC won't figure out that this phone was rooted before) so that they can totally flash it or change the screen or send me a replacement. Also what's the exact command that is used in ADB and how do you use it for totally bricking the phone?
Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks
Its probably hardware issue. I heard that g2 screen will just stop working...display failure..
I read this somewhere before I purchased g2 but I still bought it anyway.
Anyways..
Have you downloaded the hboot engineer and recovery.img?
I would like to give you step by step instruction but I haven't used adb since I got rid of my nexus one...so I don't really rememebr the commands to flash stuffs:/ sorry.
If it is software issue you can fix it since you were able to get adb working
But if it doesn't work flashing a new hboot, recovery and a new rom its mostly lcd failure or ribbon is damaged.
U can use hboot pc10img method to put ur stock rom and radio. But I don't know a way to unroot it if you can't see the screen.
When I had nexus one and when I had to send it for repair.
(My bootloader was unlocked with stock rom)
They didn't charge me for rooting. Just my experience with htc.
If there is anything I can help pm me.

Ok. So what's the first step now? Do we reflash hboot and recovery? I flashed it 3 months ago using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833965
Now to reflash it, do we use this method on the wiki and just follow it. It looks pretty straight forward?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
If that's the one, then the link to Engineering hboot for Tmobile G2 is broken. Any alternative?
Also do you know the command to completely brick the phone in ADB in case we are unable to fix it?
I am interested as well. Coincidentally my screen just went completely black 3 hours ago. I think the lcd is dead. Last thing I did earlier today was that I flashed from the ..04.30 radio to the ..02.26 while troubleshooting HSDPA issues.
I think I could settle for adb shell commands to flash the roms if anyone can point me to a link. Closest i've found is a link to the G1 forums (I used to have one) but that shows how to a manual nandriod restore which is a bit different.
Last resort as the OP is asking, will creating a typo while following a rooting guild do the trick?

Good luck buddy. Let me know if you find a way to get it fixed or brick it. From another thread I found the command is something like:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p*
Where * = the partition number.
But I just don't know how to apply it.
Did you guys get this going? Op sent me a pm for help a few days back and I just got this. I had the same thing happen.
You can brick using the dd= command. You would follow the OLD eng hboot root guide except instead of having the real hboot.img you would have a random text file named hboot.img inplace of it. HOWEVER, YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT.
You can put back to stock. Make sure phone has a good charge or it won't flash properly.
First things first. If there is anything you want to save off the phone first, ie good (bad) pic mess from your gf or similar , then search on googl.code or xda for screencast. It allows you to see the phones screen on your comp screen (requires adb installed and working). It works in the os, and in recovery, but unfortunatly doesn't work in fastboot.
After everything you want is saved, backup your sdcard to your comp, and clean off sdcard. If you are rooted per gfree use it to revert back to s-on (if you are old eng hboot only method, skip that step). Replace the misc.img as per the unroot guide. Then put the stock shipped PC10IMG on the root of your sdcard. Boot into fastboot by holding down vol and power. Give it few mins to read and load pcimg, let's say 5 mins to be safe. Press vol up to confirm to reflash ( I know u can't see screen, but have faith). It will reboot in the middle of process to flash radio, then will finish flashing. It should only take 10 mins, but leave it for like 30 to be safe. Then press power button to reboot.
At this time it should boot into stock os. Remember first boot take awhile, so give it a min. To confirm it worked, do 2 things. On comp type adb remount and should say not allowed. Also try using screencast should not work since usb debugging is required for it, and its turned off by default on stock os.
Goodluck, hope this helps. If anyone finds this usefull of needs any help, let me know.

Thanks. I know what to do next time if my G2 is messed up But I already bricked my phone last week and sent it back for repair, since I couldn't find any other to way fix it.

Need help repairing frozen HTC Incredible

I need help repairing my dinc. First, let me apologize for the long post, but I wanted to provide as much detail as possible.
My cousin dropped his phone in water and tried to dry it off. I don't know if he tried to turn it on after drying it off. Also, I don't know what attempts he has made to bring the phone back to life, but he has given up and handed the phone over to me. He figured since I am an IT guy and also do hardware repairs I would figure it out.
This is new to me because I've never owned a Smartphone before. He turned off his service on the dinc and used another Verizon phone he had lying around.
I've research different forums for a fix for the past few days, but nothing has worked. I’ve seen posts with similar symptoms, but in all cases they were able to get more functionality from their phone than mine. Also, my issue is related to water and not from a bad ROM upgrade. Here's a summary of things I've already tried:
Dried the phone out with the rice in Ziploc bag trick for 3 days (phone is completely dried)
Reformatted the micro sd card to fat32
Did a system update
Placed PB31IMG.zip into the root of the sd card
md5 checksum: 31bb1611a0fa8197d447c0438426717e
When I remove or rename the PB31IMG.zip file and hold the down button+power, here is the outcome for the following:
Fastboot: Gives me the following options Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, & Power Dwn
Bootloader takes me back to the main HBoot screen.
Reboot would get me stuck on a continuous loop (stuck on the "HTC Incredible" white screen) and freeze
Reboot Bootloader just takes me back to the Fastboot menu
Power Dwn would do the same thing as the Reboot
Recovery: does the same thing as Reboot; it would freeze at the white "HTC Incredible" screen
Clear Storage: does the same thing as above
Factory Reset: does the same thing as above
Each time it gets stuck at the white HTC Incredible boot up screen, I would have to pull the battery. Hitting/holding the power button doesn't seem to do anything.
From what I've been reading, I don't think the phone is bricked, since it still turns on, has limited functions, & I can get to the HBoot screen. The only thing I haven’t tried is reinstalling the OS (not sure if the OS is included in the PB31IMG.zip file)? Also, I was going to try to reformat the hard drive (just in case the partition is damaged).
The phone has never been rooted and I am not trying to root/unroot the phone... just trying to repair the phone. The phone has the S-ON.
I have uploaded a 10 min. YouTube video so you can see what I'm dealing with. Any help would be much appreciated. If there is anything you want me to try or anything you want to know that I may have left out, please don't hesitate to ask. At this point, I'm willing to try anything.

Sorry, I can't post a link to my video so just replace the (dot) with a "."
You need to do an ruu with a PB31IMG.zip.
You can get the ruu here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=22
If you ever want to be able to root you need to use the froyo one as gingerbread cant be rooted if your s-on. Just download, rename exactly PB31IMG.zip, place on your sdcard in no folders, make sure its not connected to a computer, then pull battery and replace then boot into hboot (vol down + power) it should automaticly find the file after a couple secs and then prompt you to press vol up to install. Once its done you will be promptet to reboot , do so and if all is as expected you should boot up normally. Note that the first boot will take a long time so be patient, it may seem like it freezes at the boot animation but give it time.

I ran the RUU program, which took about 10 min to complete. When it finished the update process, it rebooted the dinc, but I'm now stuck on the white htc incredible screen as demonstrated in my video. How long I'm I suppose to wait as this white screen? It seems as if it's frozen, but I'm not sure. Am I missing something?
Should I rerun it or try to run the PB31IMG.zip file? BTW, I grabbed the PB31IMG.zip file from the same site from your link.

Yes, but let me explain. When I first turned on my phone it would freeze at the white htc incredible screen. The pc would not recognize the device. The HTC Sync program would also not recognize the device.
I pulled the battery and did pushed the down button+power to get the HBoot. Then I would plug in the usb cable and the device is still not recognized. I would have to select the fastboot option, then bootloader a few times before the ruu program can detect my phone. HTC Sync would still not detect my phone.
After the phone is recognized by ruu I ran the program. I can see a black screen on my phone with big white HTC letters. Then I would see a green scan bar running. The ruu program completed and the phone rebooted. I hit the "finished" button on the ruu program and exit.
The phone rebooted and got stuck on the white htc incredible screen. I waited for 15 mins and it's still stuck on the same screen. If you watch my video, you can see exactly what I'm talking about. I've tried re-running the PB31IMG.zip file, but it's not working.
Any other ideas? You think the partition is damaged or the phone is bricked?
Ok I watched the video. My only other sugestion would be to try and root it with unrevoked so you can get the custom recovery, wipe everything from in recovery, and then try flashing a custom rom such as jermains rooted gingerbread+ rom. If that dosent work i would say there is some type of hardware failure.

When I root it with Unrevoked, can I use the online method where I log on to their site or does matter?
Can I still root the phone even though HTC Sync does not recognize my phone? Yeah, someone from another forum suggested it might be a hardware issue from the water. If my cousin turned the phone on while it was still wet, he could have shorted out some circuits on the motherboard. I told him what he should do if it ever happened to him next time.
Thanks for helping me out!

I wasnt aware there was an online method. I'm not sure if unrevoked will work or not but i know you have to uninstall htc sync before you use the downloadable method. Its a pretty simple process and worth a shot. Hardware failure is verry possible though, especially if it was turned on wile still wet. Even if it wasnt turned on wet it probably got droped in the water wile on possibly causing a short right away.

That's my bad; it's like 2am now and I was thinking about something else. I had to download the unrevoked3 program and run it. You're right, I had to uninstall htc sync. I was unable to use the program because it wanted me to enable usb debugging mode, which I am not able to do with my phone in its current state. It could not detect my device.
Someone from another forum stated that after watching my video, he noticed that the image I flashed contained a VZ radio. He said he's heard of cases where users were waiting up to 2 hours in the htc incredible screen before the update is complete. This seems like a very long time, but I'm willing to try.
He wanted me to make sure my phone is fully charged. Then he wants me to run the update in the bootloader and just let it sit. He says it may take up to 2 hours. He said if it doesn't work then it's a hardware related issue caused by the board getting shorted out.
Thanks for all your help!

You need to have adb installed. If you don't, google how and there are many in depth tutorials. Then, once adb is installed, cd to your adb directory in terminal/command prompt and type ./adb logcat.

[Q] How to unbrick my DHD?

Hi, I attempted to root my Desire HD yesterday, and it went horribly wrong.
I followed the instructions, and it was all going well, until the process effectively froze. From researching this, I found that where it would appear I had gone wrong was that my SD card was not mounted.
I attempted to restart my phone, but the buttons had no effect, so I removed the USb cable. This took to me to a screen on my phone where it showed some options, which I understand are normally navigated by the volume and power buttons but again, these did nothing. I couldn't turn my phone off, and I was unable to remove the battery, despite following online videos on how to do this... In the end, I left my DHD to run out off battery in the hope that maybe a simple restart would roll back the whole process. When it eventually ran out of battery, I briefly charged it (so as to be able to turn it back on). Whilst charging, the orange LED flashes, then stays on. I then pressed the power button. It now shows the simple "HTC" screen, until it runs out of battery, and again, the buttons have no effect. How do I return to the original state of the phone? There's no warranty on it or anything so I have no qualms about taking it apart if that is required.
Did the screen It took you in have green androids at the bottom thats called h -boot or was it in clockwork mod recovery
It had green androids at the bottom, with I think 3 of them at different angles
Hey dude.
Don't panic.
Follow my instructions here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22306501 and all should be well.
Greg.

Did you have any luck?

No - I've found an image and put it on the mSD card, and it's recognised, but then it goes to the same old screen with all the options...
First of all, does your buttons (volumes and power) work fine in hboot screen?
What it your recovery? The DHD original one or CW re. or other custom re?
From above, if it is the original one, does your DHD unlocked?
The volume and power buttons work fine.
I don't know which PD98 I have, it's one I found online. I want to return back to my standard DHD, not root it.
Yes, it is unlocked.
May I know how you tried to root your phone? And the information in the hboot screen (which have 3 android with different angle) just after the line ***Unlocked*** It should be looks like S-ON / S-OFF
I used the following video: youtube.com/watch?v=zY8TFZ2Owk0
Although I read somewhere to put it in "charge-only" mode, which I reckon is where I went wrong.
There isn't a "unlocked" line as such (but it is unlocked as I did that myself using the codes etc online) but it's S-ON
Dude... it should be a unlocked line if you had unlocked the device... I am saying the HTC dev. unlock.
Had you ever tried to flash the clockwork recovery?
But what I guess is the boot.img broken or at lease sth wrong with it, may I know which step you had starting fail? You can point it with the uTube video(like the process goes well until 3:45 in the video)
---------- Post added at 02:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 AM ----------
You can try flashing the newest RUU to solve it (with all data safe). Depends on your luck.

Yeah it needs to be in charge only mode when you run the hack kit.
As a side note, they should really change (or add more information) to that video as it's not entirely accurate.... I have never had to rename a ROM 'update.zip' for it to work, and you definitely don't need to go into the bootloader each time to get to the recovery. And you need to do more than wipe the cache beforehand.
Hey mate,
Had a similar issue, couldn't use the volume buttons to navigate, however, i let it sit on that screen for about 1-2 minutes, then i was able to use the volume buttons. Not sure why, probably just took a really long time to load up.
Hi... Are you still here?
Brick DHD
Hi, I have similar problem as baynesy with small differences.
I did root my Desire HD too, but in Ace advanced hack kit. I di mSD card as goldcard, next a put PD98IMG.zip (1.32.X) on sdcard. Then I started with root first three steps going well. After succesfully installing root, clockworkmod and first radio start next step flash new radio and here was the problem. Connection with PC fell and flashing was stoped. Now I have only black background without any mark of starting of device. Only orange LED flashes.
I tryed to remove battery and wait 10 minutes but without any succes.
Please can you help me with this problem?

[Tutorial] Unbrick your softbricked HTC Wildfire S

Your phone is said to be bricked when you screw up with your radio partition of your phone. This contains the bootloader which loads the operating system. This is a hard brick and needs expensive hardware to fix. I can only help you with a soft brick.
benjamingwynn said:
Most people seen to not know the difference between a soft brick, a boot failure and a total brick.
Boot failure: commonly referred to as 'the HTC screen', 'the white screen' and of cause the 'help me my phone is stuck - problem'. This problem can be caused by many things, including the kernel, library's and ramdisk (think of a ramdisk like a map of your phones internal hardware). This can easily be resolved by flashing a new ROM.
Soft brick: Is where your phone gives out no screen output, but does give out some vibrations or you can access the bootloader utility/hboot, this can be fixed by flashing an RUU
Brick: your phone is as useless as a brick. It does not turn on nor make any vibrations, and you can not access the bootloader utility. There is no way to fix this.
Here's some ways to avoid soft bricking/bricking:
- Don't flash unofficial radio firmware
- Don't flash unofficial hboot software
- Don't throw your phone
- Don't flash anything suspicious in hboot
- Don't flash an RUU not designed for your phone
Here's some common misunderstandings:
- Roms, on there own will never brick your phone
- Kernels will never brick your phone
- The bootloader is not the radio
- Too many flashes will not brick your phone (however, you may make the internal memory smaller by KB because of bad sectors, but that story is for another time )

It is a good practice to keep at least 3 nandroid backups on your sd card or computer. Also, making a goldcard is also necessary to run an RUU and to flash a PG76IMG.zip these things make it easier to unbrick your phone
Install ADB and Fastboot here first.
A Soft brick may be of many types.
The 3/5/7 vibe Brick (common with A510c)
This is Qualcomm Diagnostics mode.
--> How To Fix It (Click here)
You have to use a PG76IMG.zip extracted from your RUU, and not the file given in that post.
kalaker said:
To extract from the RUU,
Launch RUU (For this to be easiest, close all other running applications)
At the screen for the README, launch Windows Explorer
In the navigation/address bar type "%TEMP%" without the quotes.
Choose the first long-named folder (actually, the most recent) and open it.
Follow folders until you get to where there is a whole, big list (it should only be 1 or 2 subfolders).
Look for ROM.zip
Drag to desktop
Rename to PG76IMG.zip
Put it on SD Card.

Phone doesn't boot but goes to recovery saying something like E:/ Invalid command argument
Your boot partition is messed up
-->How to fix it
-Flash your ROM again
or
-Flash another ROM
or
-Restore a nandroid backup.
If that didn't work,
-Extract the boot.img from your ROM zip and and copy it where ADB and Fastboot are.
-boot into your bootloader [wait 15 sec] select 'fastboot' and press power.
-type
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Reboot
Stuck on splash screen (White backgound with green 'htc')
Wait for at least 20 minutes to be sure its really stuck.
--> How to fix it
-remove the battery, boot into recovery, Wipe Data/Factory reset and try again
-still doesn't boot?
Restore a nandroid backup/Flash another Rom
Bootloop (Bootanimation plays repeatedly)
Connect the phone to your computer, run a logcat using the
Code:
adb logcat
command and look for repeating blocks

-remove the battery, boot into recovery, Wipe Data/Factory reset and try again
-still doesn't boot?

HI I have a 3 vibe brick on my CDMA VM USA HTC Wildfire S. It started with phone restarting and so I tried to recover though CWMod recovery, as I had backed it up when I first rooted my phone. During recovery it failed. I rebooted my phone then was stuck on the splash screen, after that I tried a battery pull and wound up with the 3 vibe brick. I have tried this method 4 times now, nothing seems to change, 3 vibes on power + vol down, wait 5 min, press vol up, wait 5 min again press vol up, no vibe, no nothing. screen stays black, no other vibes, do a battery pull, start over, same thing again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated cause I have no backup phone at the moment.
I'm sorry that's my mistake you have to do that with a PG76IMG.zip, not pb31img. Extract it from the ruu of your carrier and then follow the procedure

Hi, really good tutorial bud, mine is stuck on 7 or five vibe seems random at the moment...transffered zip to sd but I think my battery is dead and does not seem to charge on charger and laptop not recognising usb connection (though red led comes on....do I need to find alternative way to charge battery ? Also if in diagnostics mode would this show in device manager... as I am guessing if it does not that means I aint so phone is truly bricked...
Thanks ahead

hard brick?
Hey all.
I recently purchased a Wildfire S(no simlock, no branding) from ebay. The touchscreen was responding very randomly so (without giving it too much thought, sigh) I decided to flash it. I'm in Germany so I used "RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed.exe"
I don't know what I did wrong but now I seem to have a bricked phone. When powered on it displays nothing, it doesn't vibrate and it is not recognizes by Windows when connected via USB, it doesn't even show up in the Device Manager as some sort of device. The display keeps turning on and off every 2,3 seconds regardless if I turn the phone on or i just plug in the battery so now it sits with no battery waiting to be salvaged.
Can you confirm that I have a hard bricked phone? I've read that it is possible to unbrick the HTC Sensation by putting it in QDL mode.
Can this be done with the Wildfire S? I saw two little holes near the upper right corner of the battery.
If it is absolutely impossible for the Wildfire S, can you recommend a place in Munich where I could get my phone fixed? What's a reasonable price so I don't get ripped off?
Thank you all! I hope I've posted in the right forum. Should I open a new thread for this?
Ciao.

I can't boot into the bootloader. As I said, nothing is displayed when I turn the phone on nor does it vibrate, it just turns the backlight on and off every two seconds.
P.S. I tried VolumeDown+Power button after removing the battery, didn't work!

My friend, you have a marvel, not marvelc. ( if it was a marvelc, then the 1st line would be MARVELC EVT1 S-OFF RL & O2 doesn't sell the marvelc). When did you check this?Which PG76IMG is that? It should have a higher s/w number than yours ( you can do it if it is lower also, but that is a much longer procedure). You can make a goldcard by putting your sd card in another htc phone also.
