Your Lotus Notes contacts are synced to your phone using Lotus Notes Traveler. In the preferences you can opt to sync your contacts from the server.
If your company doesn't utilize Traveler, then you can try exporting your Lotus contacts to either CSV or VCF and then go to www.google.com/contacts and import that file.
From there you may want to auto assign those Lotus contacts to a specific group. That way, you can keep things organized and also have the option to not show those contacts by deselecting that group in your Contacts display options on the phone. (If you ever needed that option available.)

Anyone knows G-sync vs. Outlook

The Desire is my first Android phone, and never used google sync to synchronize the contacts. I have 2 questiones,
1. Is the google cantacts format as same as the outlook contacts?
2. If I sync the phone contacts with outlook then sync with google's, will generate the dual same contacts in the phone?
Thanks a lot.
I ended up exporting my contacts from exchange as a .csv file then importing into my Gmail contacts so I could use the Hullomail voicemail app effectively.

The HTC Sync software actually works really well for me. I have Outlook 2003, and between it, and my google calendar, and work calendar, it all shows up fine on the Evo.
HTC Sync will take some tweaking, though. Your contacts (google in my case) will appear doubled - you'll have 'phone' and 'google' contacts - just link them and they'll sync either way - up to google or down to your outlook. The phone will act as the bridge between them.
but does that enable you to view vcf files? and import info?

[Q] syncing adroid to gmail without outlook

Hi,
firstly may I apologise if this has been covered, I did complete a search without
success.
I do not have Outlook on my pc,
is it possible to sync contacts with gmail without outlook, if not is there a relatively inexpensive method of purchasing Outlook ?
regards
Geoff
If you have a Gmail account and Android, you do not need Outlook at all.
Outlook can only sync with Gmail with Google Calendarsync AFAIK.
On your phone in Accounts and Synchronization, Add your gmail account and choose the items to sync.
- contacts
- gmail
- picasa
- calendar
What are you currently using on your pc as a contact manager application?
Backup your contacts to your SD card and then restore them but select your Gmail account to add them too. It will then sync the contacts to Gmail
Use MyPhoneExplorer which is free.
Thank you for the replies,
I do not have a contacts manager.
I have exported to SD card, deleted and copied back as google contacts,
it now appears to be a gmail upgrade problem as the phone error message
>Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly<
I'll just have to wait to see if it works.

[Q] If I sync my Outlook calendar, does it sync only one or both ways?

So, I wanted to sync my work outlook calendar to my Evo. But, I don't want to share my calendar the other way. My question is if I sync my work outlook calendar will it only sync one way or expose all my personal calendar events to my work calendar?
In a nutshell, is sync two way or can I control it to be just one-way?
Thanks in advance.

I have my personal gmail account and my work's exchange account both syncing to my phone and my personal calendar stuff is kept separate from my work stuff. When I add an event to the calendar, it will default to my exchange calendar but i can chose while one it is sent to.
Attached is a screenshot from my "new event" screen. I can chose my google calendar, my wife's google calendar, a specific calendar I set up in google for work events, and my exchange calendar.
In a nutshell, your work calendar will sync both ways, but will only sync information entered in to it's specific calendar.
agreed - I've used ActiveSync calendaring with Exchange and it's bidirectional but completely separate from my Gmail calendaring (also bidirectional)

How to...

How to use contacts from Outlook account? I want to change my main account from gmail to outlook but I cannot found this option. Is there anyone that could explain it please on dumbie mode (my level of IT knowledge). Thanks a lot in advance.
Afaik you can only sync mail from outlook, in gmail... Didn't try with outlook app, maybe you can sync with that...
Note that actually we cannot create new hotmail accounts. Istead of that we create outlook accounts.
