I'm tempted to buy this handheld, but I must admid that I've been saving up for the DHD. I found that the dual radio (GSM and CDMA) of the Incredible 2 will be very useful as modems. Need feedback.
this phone supports both for global capability and also comes in handy if you want to unlock it to work on a GSM carrier like T-Mo. Not sure I fully understand your question.
your question isn't clear , do you mean by using it as a modem that you want to do tethering ? . if so , GSM carriers also allow tether . Please note that tethering is subject to additional fees ( i read that somewhere ) although you have unlimited plan ??? . i don't live in us . so ,better you clarify that point before buy with your carrier .
you said you want to buy DHD which i think is a GSM Phone ,( i.e you are using a GSM Carrier ,NOT CDMA ) . this phone have good Dev community as a CDMA Phone , But Very very Few Roms for GSM , basically you would be stuck with the Stock firmware if you want a stable GSM Rom , note that the stock Rom is built for Verizon ( i.e many parameters will refer to Verizon network )

hi ,
with all these terms like hspa 850/1900 in canada , will it work with india'n networks as am getting one from canada, but am not sure it will work with our gsm n/w,
so anyone who has knowledge on this plz share...
Thanks
Im not sure what network is running in canada ... but if they use CDMA like america then no the phone wont work in India.
Another factor to concider is the fact that you might get a branded and sim locked device ... but this is a less important issue as it can easily be unlocked using htccodes.com services and you can get rid of the branding by rooting and loading a custom rom.
You should also be aware that if anything isnt working properly on the phone you wont be able to simply take it back to canada to fix and you wont have a garuntee on it either, this shouldnt happen though as HTC make good devices, but you never know ... If youre not willing to take that chance i would advise you to rather buy online as you can then get a phone with garuntee and it would be unlocked and shouldnt have any branding on it!
thanks for the info..but am planing to get sim free only and its gsm not cdma..my main concern is as i heard n/w in canada support only Technology HSPA 850/1900 wat does that mean ....... also so u mean to say there is no global warrenty available for htc...i want the phone in white color thats not available here thats y am getting it from canada in jan....
i am about to switch from the note 3 the only android phones i have used were from samsung so i am a total noob when it comes to the htc dev community...i am about to buy an m8 which is from verizon usa but is sim unlocked meaning it can work in my country pakistan...the questions i have are as follows
the phone is from verizon will i be able to flash all the custom roms like PA,CM and other AOSP roms?because in samsungs world there are different roms for tmobile etc.
will flashing roms affect my phones unlocked status?
can i turn my phone into a gpe edition phone?
if there are any other hiccups or bugs which i should check before buying the phone please fill me in folks.
First of you need to look at which bands are used in your country and compare them to the Verizon bands. Which can be found on google as I cannot link to other websites . Most countries outside of the US have carriers that use GSM networks so beware as verizon does not and uses a CDMA network. If you have a carrier in pakistan that uses GSM bands you can look at buying an AT&T version and look if bands coincide.
I would also suggest buying a unlocked phone which would make things much easier, as some custom roms cannot be flashed on the verizon/sprint version. If you want to flash custom roms you do need to unlock the bootloader. As I said above GPE roms usually do not work with verizon/sprint edition of a phone, as far as I know you can flash a GPE rom from phones on other carriers. Still I heavily suggest buying an unlocked phone.
I myself am using an unlocked HTC One M8 and have found no bugs whatoever and use a GPE rom and everything is smooth as silk. It's an amazing phone and worth the last penny but if your phone won't work with the bands in your country it's useless so be carefull!
If you can buy a used model with s-off. It'll save you any potential headaches.

thank you for the reply i checked up on the bands and they said it is gsm supported and the bands were alright but i found the verizon thread and there was a very weak number of roms so im holding off .
Hi everyone
I haven't been fiddling with phones in some time lots has changed . I recently picked up a bell HTC m9 that I got unlocked to use on fido .. so everything is really nice but LTE doesn't seem to be supported . I was wondering if it was possible to take flash a different radio that may support my band's. For example a Rogers radio should support it because fido runs off the fido network..
Or should I type adding the band's as shown in another thread named unlocking all bands on Qualcomm chips ..
There seem to be alot of people asking these same questions but I'm not finding my answers easily so I figured I'd ask myself .
Thanks for any guidance Guys
Dear all,
I am living in India and I'm planning to buy an M8. Since the phone is officially not available anymore, I am getting one from eBay, which is a US imported one. [ Linky ].
Though the seller is saying that 4G is working for Indian SIMs, I am a bit suspicious. I am using Airtel 4G SIM ATM and am planning to root/install new ROMs. Suppose if the phone supports 4G initially and after flashing ROM will it affect the bands? How do I find that out?
Any help is appreciated.
flashing roms won't touch the radio ( the bands that device supports ) it will be intact
so if the stock out of the box status support your carrier network then any rom will work just fine

Thanks mate. I believe the seller himself has worked around with ROMs to make the 4G work. If I flash a new ROM it won't kill the phone right?

Flashing rom doesnt change the LTE band . If its US imported phone then IMO only verizon supports indain LTE band . Even that model only supports one band not all and m8 is not volte supported . Airtel calling will be fine as it use rollback to 3g for calling .
I am from india too . Market price for 4g m8 is about 10 k . These phone (mostly) are not new , they are refurbished . I have bought 5 m8 from ebay .
Hit THANKS if somebody help you

Thanks for the reply mate. I don't care about refurbished ones, as I am buying this only for the audio. Could you please tell me how to identify a 'refurbished' phone?

Check sim slot..it will be of different colour as comaperd to housing .
Match imei on sim slot, box and phone real. All should be same.
Charging port/ audio jack should be in new condtion, no used sign in there .
No quality seal ( i have seen some white seal on refurbished) .
Bootloader menu ( should be s-on and locked ) . If opened or used then it will tempered as all varaint comes as international unlock so need for software programming.
Hit THANKS if somebody help you
Additionally, if it is the Verizon version, it will possibly have the back cover replaced. Verizon version M8 has the Verizon logo on the back like this, which when resold as "unbranded, etc." will have the back cover replaced with one without any carrier logo.
In this case, the model number on the back will often not match what is shown in fastboot getvar all.
Does anyone here have this phone from MetroPCS? And if so, is it rootable?
Thanks
Model G 960U - I have the Tmobile version using on Metro but is the same as Metro PCS version .
No idea if rootable I am a Power User but not a developer.
Great SOTs and battery life on this one two to four bars sometimes 5 of 4G LTE and VOLTE is always working for simultaneous Voice and Data - Metro was first with that in 2012 !
The advantage of VOLTE is you will not lose internet when a call comes in in the middle of typing an Email and of course looking things up on Web during calls .
So find out about Model 960U - also you MAY have much better luck buying a FACTORY UNLOCKED 960U directly from Samsung but NOT a TMO 960U from Samsung - those are SIM locked to TMO and Samsung will not unlock - though easier to unlock because they are not tied to a Contract. But I understand that you are speaking of the locked bootloader....that I do not know .
