Hey guys,
I'm searching for some Applications and Gamez to present the features of my HD.
Friends often ask me what I like so much on my HD and why I did't buy an iPhone. I don't know what to answer then... Always showing the Game Teeter is so boring! I testet the iPhone for about a week and wasn't as thrilled as I'm now with my HD.
Searching in the XDA Forum wasn't very successful to me
Greez and thank you for helping me...
a good start would be to take pictures of ur phone, so u can show a little but of the functions and themes.
A nice program is 'Pocketscreen' which can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328627
Thank you for your post!
I rather thought about the case when they are standing next to me and want to see what my HD is able to do... Something spectacular, you know...
Maybe we can compile a catalog of such "viewy applications"!
oh, lol, sorry then, i missunderstood ya
mhhh, so i think u r searching for advantages of the touch hd, aren't u?
well...if u wanna impress ur friends u just have to show them windows mobile...
what's so special about it? try to get tomtom or other apps working on iPhone...
Take a look at this.

too bad games are running slow as hell on the touch hd.........sigh.........
So you are looking for some "mine is bigger than yours" application just to show off?
Sorry, couldn´t resist.....
Just go to opera, copy a random link, open an email, page the link in a message and tell them to try that on their iphone
Coreplayer 1.3.0 and put on any dvd rip movies and make them jealous with envy, as movies are gorgeous on the high resolution screen
If you have highspeed internet on your hd, just show them a youtube vid, again just show them how inadequate the iphone is as a mediaplayer.
MP3-trimmer, cut a song on the fly, save it as a ringtone and then tell them to call you, watch them squirm
I got bejeweled2 on mine, another addictive game.
Virtual pool looks pretty slick.
When they tell you there is this great program which can identify music, just say its shazam and also avaible for winmo, If they don't know then whip it out tell the hd to identify a popular song on the radio or something from another mp3 player.
I also just bought an Touch HD, i used to have the normal Touch for 8 months, was thinking of buying the iphone too, instead after MANY reviews i stayed with HTC and bought me the touch HD.
Things you can show him is the resolution, open opera with a fullsize forum and show how much text you get on your screen.
Multitasking is what an iphone can't do.
Stuff i like on my windows mobile device: MSN, fring/skype (free calling over wifi) i love VNCview for PPC so i can see my desktop PC on my HD, also love the game UNO, also LOVE Funambol ! so i can sync my calendar/notes/contacts,... all to one server and that way to my PC all bidirectional... Funambol is also availeble on iphone but only for syncing contacts because apple wants to make 99 dollar a year on their syncing service... and most of all, i love that i can keep finding settings to adjust my windows mobile device just the way i want it...
what i don't know if this is all possible with a jailbroken iphone... if it is then there isn't any big difference i guess
good luck with the showing off haha

I know these pages full of applications. Which of them are good to, lets say, "show off"...
Thank you all for your suggestions... maybe got some more!?!
!edit: where can i get coreplayer 1.3 from? u know what i mean!?! plz pm
I wouldn't bother with CorePlayer; full-res video doesn't work well enough yet.
Look at the stickied video-encoder thread and create a file for free that plays full-res full-framerate in WMPlayer on the HD. Bear in mind that most people won't understand the difference between this and what the iPhone plays though.
Then read a book at them. I had an iPod Touch and never found any way to read books that wasn't woefully inadequate.
Web pages in landscape, clicking in links without zooming in etc is a great demo.
The Hologram app is pretty cool; do a search around here and you'll find it.
But to be honest all an iPhone owner has to do is show someone Super Monkey Ball, Aqua Forest, Enigmo etc and you've lost. No amount of "But you can't copy-and-paste" is going to bring you back from that one.
just record a video when going in the freeway at 120km/h then show them.
lets see the iphone do that with that quality
Cool! Thank you for all your Replys!
I think this stuff will hunt 'em down...
1. Use Hush SMS and send Ring 0 SMS to an iPhone.
2. Show some real GPS navigation software.
3. Compare list of supported bluetooth profiles on your HD with iPhone.
Use GRemote to control your pc - see here
how about installing ORB on your home pc and you can stream every music and video file to your ppc through wifi, music is even possible over edge.
that way you can have unlimited portable media.
i use it and it works great !

Actually, there's an ORB client for the iPhone too.

Yeah, at the gaming (and, of course, the capacitive screen) department, the iPhone is just unbeatable.

Please do NOT ask for warez. Especially not with CorePlayer. Those folks do deserve being paid for their very hard work.
I have been reading some of the reviews on amazon about some of these mini keyboards, and I'm still adjusting to the onscreen keyboard as I came from the D2 then the TP2 before that, so I would like to know what ones are compatible with android? Does anyone have one? Most people in the reviews say that they can't get them to work with android, so I don't want to waste 20-30-40 bucks just to find out its not compatible with our devices. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Curious about this too, if don't remember seeing anything about bluetooth keyboards working without some hacking.

I guess you and I must be the only ones who care about this.
No...I very much care about this, too. I just tried to pair my Thunderbolt with my Apple wireless keyboard and it did pair. Now, however, it says "paired and not connected" but when I click on the keyboard name it does not do anything. When I press and hold the keyboard name, my only option is to unpair. Not sure how to proceed...
Reading a lot of the reviews on amazon it seems to be a running theme that not all of the BT keyboards are compatible with android. Now, whether that is true or not, I don't know. I was hoping to find someone who has one and can provide some insight. Supposedly, according to the reviews, there are two different protocols for BT and only one(spp, if that makes sense?) works with android. That's the best info I have gathered, but this is strictly based off of reviewers, so I don't actually know anything. So I thought I would bring my question/problem to the smartest community on earth.
I will play around again with my Apple keyboard tonight and see if I can figure this out for you. And for me!
I'm interested as well. Like you, I haven't been able to find any hard info either, and don't want to waste money...
hello, I've been interested in this for a while now…*
here's the BT keyboard i'm considering:
Spider E-BTKB-B001 Black Bluetooth Wireless Ultra Slim Keyboard - seen on newegg ~ $40
although today I tried this app:
market.android.com - Remote Web Desktop
its wifi keyboard feature gets your foot in the door with real keyboard text entry…*haven't tested this for my use case - notes in audible bookmarks - but i look forward to the future development of this Remote Web Desktop application
oops, i can't include links yet
So, if I understood your post correctly, you have already received this and it does work correctly? Can you post some pics to show how big it is compared to the phone? Thanks for the post.

+1 to this post. Very interested.
This one on amazon looks like it works... from the reviews anyway
ProMini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (Build-in TouchPad/Laser Pointer) - Black
(cant post links yet so you'll have to search)

I can confirm that my buddy's apple bt keyboard works with my TB, but my dell bt keyboard does not.
Can you provide the keyboard model that worked?
I have a no name mini bt keyboard that pairs but will not connect with my unrooted thunderbolt..
The one I have is an unbranded keyboard
Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for iPad/iPhone 4.0 OS/Android/Window Mobile/Symbian Smartphone
It will pair but not connect.

What app did you use to get the bluetooth keyboard to work? I'm very interested in this.
Has anyone tried the Motorola Wireless Keyboard? It's made for Android and has shortcut keys.

Intrigued, I would really like to know also. Is that the one for the Xoom?
I've got one of those no-name (actually a company called magic-pro) bluetooth keyboards, and I've tried every app/driver out there that I've been able to find to get the danged thing to work. So far the most useful thing on it is the laserpointer, it's a great cat toy. The bluetooth dongle does work pain-free with a Windows 7 machine, but that's not why I got the thing. Going to keep on trying new revisions, hopefully I'll hit something eventually that doesn't require rooting.
I use Wifi Keyboard occassionally which works great, cheaper then buying a BT.

Hahaha! You made my day OneStepAhead! I'm using it right now to text family without having to type on my phone. This is really really cool. I was not going to buy a $100 keyboard, so this is perfect.
Which one did you buy?
Hi
Does the galaxy havesmart dialing?
It is one of the things i loved about my Sensation. i could start typing a few letters (numbers) and all the coressponding contacts were shown.
from what i can see from all the videos this may not be possible in stock android 4.0?
Can anyone relay my fears
Cant remeber the last i didnt have that feature even going back to my nokia e71.
I invented cyberspace. You're trespassing.
the X10i Sony doesn't have it and i'm worried the nexus doesn't
i use it a lot when using the htc dialer
No idea how to load my google contacts into emulator... if there's an easy way to do that I can try for you.
i have tried it in the emulator.
it will not work under the dialer itself.
however it will work under the search bar.
when you start to type the number under the search, it will appear all the related contacts.
You can always use a 3rd party app such as Dialer One or TouchPal Dialer (free on the market) which has the feature you desire.
Mark.

You can export your contacts from Google contacts as a csv-file. That file can be imported in the app.
Thank you
I forgot about the persistant search bar at the top
thank yor for all suggestions
where can i get this emulator?

Android SDK
Takes about 10-15 mins to get up and running purely dependent on connection of course. But emulator takes few mins to boot and is really sluggish. Still no clue how anyone develops on that.
I made myself as a contact..dialer did not show what you asked. But unless I get full contact list in there cant say for sure. But the layout itself doesnt seem appropriate for it.
This is one of my concerns aswell, I love the smart dial feature on the HTC dialer and heavily rely on it. I don't want to have to get an alternate dialer I want a nice clean pure android experience.
It's crazy to me that people still look up names by numbers instead of names.

you can use the search bar to search for numbers. it will appear with the contact that match the numbers.
just like it has already happening in honeycomb table. just that no ones use honeycomb to make phone calls.
It's a change it might not.
I no longer have it on my device after switching over to CM7

Smart Dialling appears so backwards to me. I have internalized only a few phone numbers and that's because it'S always easier and faster to just use the contacts feature instead of "dialling".

It only works from the start of a phone number though.
So if you know the number ends in 5423, if you try searching for that it won't match it.
HTC's dialer will match anywhere in the number.
Balls, much faster to start typing a name on the keypad and results are refined as you go. Every phone for the last 15 years had t9 dialling. So stupid Apple dropped it and Google following along.

Ever had an issue when u are on your XOOM tablet... and u miss 5 Calls and dozen of SMSes from your android phone in the pocket ?
is there any aaps that actually connected between android devices and notify each device any events from the other device?
I know that Sony has produce the LiveView that has an apps that notify SMS and calls whle u running. this concept can pe applied to tablet also rite?
if there any aaplication such.... can you guys help name them ?

Probably in the wrong forum, should be in the Q&A.
I personally use google voice, and turned on missed call notification. I wish they would update the app, but ya know, it works for sms.

This should be in Q&A
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
but for your specific question, just go buy a i'M Watch it does everything you need like Notification!! Pricy for some of you all!! But very good intuitive device, bought one for my Girlfriend, ever since she never missed 1 sms and phone call ever again!!
HI... sorry if i posted it wrongly..
I am watch is good. but not as what i wanted.
what i wanted is an aaps to pair 2 devices
1- Motorola Xoom ( or any)
2- SE - Mini Pro ( or any )
this aaps will actually notify anything coming from the SE- MINI PRO to the xoom.
the concept as I'm watch / LiveView is good but can it be expended between device such as tablet to phone, phone to tablet or vice versa.
Ive done some market research and i found none of the aaps available meets this requiements and thats why i questioned in the Develoment Section. Because i think most of the Pro Developers in XDA might get an idea of what this aaps can do .
Imagine when you are on your Google TV, and your phone is in silent mode. under the pillow while u are watching your fav show.
or you are playing Online game with your friend on the Samsung Galaxy tab and your mom is trying to reach you several time telling you that your cat is dead?
its open for exploration...
i dont mind paying 1 doller for a brilliant aaps like this.
with over 3.7 mill android activated during Xmass.. i think people has started to have multiple android in their home and this concept is ... brilliant.

Please post in the correct sections, on that note. Thread closed.
[Sorry if I should have posted on Q&A section. My apologies]
Hi everyone there. My digitalizer is completely fuc*ed up. Its going extremly bad, so in two weeks after my holidays, Ill be able to change it. While that time pass, I need to fin a way to use Whatsapp on the phone while im out.
I dont want more Bluestacks, Im too tired of it (using it for a month while I was fixing the damned Slider Flex) and I dont have a permanent wifi in the place Im going.
Android offers good compatibility control for the Xperia Play´s gamepad. I managed to run it without any touch necesity and Im happy with my emulators for PSOne, Snes, Mame... But the problem comes when Im using Whatsapp as Keyboard recognision isnt avaliable ofr the gamepad. I cant write any messages.
For that reason, Im asking help for the XDA community, so you can tell if there´s any way to use the Gamepad for Writing on Whatsapp or SMS.
Thank you so much.
