I flashed the 2.3.2 recovery ftf and it worked fine. When I did the OTA update to 2.3.3, it never downloaded the update, but it asked me if I wanted to apply it. I still had the CM zip on the card, so it may have flashed it.
Long story short, I cant get the phone to boot, it won't even enter fastboot. Tried flashing various recovery ftf's, tried SEUS, no success. Basically a brick now.
Any ideas?
look in the dev section they have a 2.3.3 ftf. just flash that and it should be fine

Hello xda members,
I own a Xperia Arc, was running android 2.3.4 and decided it was time for a new rom for the phone, i carried out a couple of steps but in the end i got stuck, and i can't get into cwm recovery to restore or install a new rom, and i cant even root the phone, here are the steps that i carried out in order to try and install a new rom( Sorry they are long):
1: rooted my Arc using a program called "Eroot v1.2", I enabled usb debug mode and connected, pressed the button and it rooted it, I managed to see the superuser app installed and i also downloaded an app called "root checker" which verified that my Arc was rooted successfully.
2: I downloaded a program called "recoverx" to install cwm recovery on my Arc and once again it was done successfully, i switched the phone off and back on while holding the volume up button and i got into cwm recovery.
3: I went into cwm and made a rom backup
4: I downloaded the new rom (Xperia Ultimate HD Rom) onto my sd card and went into cwm recovery and deleted everything such as wiping the
data, and a factory reset, and i deleted the delvik cache and the bettery stats
5: I went to the install from sd card, and installed the new rom, and at the end i unchecked the "Reboot" button, and it took me back to cwm recovery and pressed on reboot into cwm
So after this point everything seems fine and to me im sure iv carried out all the correct steps, but....
6: after this point the phone rebooted, and after the sony logo, it gave a black screen and was stuck at that screen no matter what, at that point, i could not get into cwm recovery anymore.
7: After reading and searching the internet I managed to educate myself that i was supposed to flash something called a kernel, so i downloaded a tool called sonyericssson xperia flash tool, and downloaded a kernel called lt15i_4.1.b.587_kernel.ftf and flashed it, turned the phone on only to find that my Arc was stuck in a boot loop, it was restarting after the sony logo immediatly.
8: I then downloaded another kernel called lt15i_4.1.b.431_kernel only.ftf and flashed it which cured my boot loop and the phone booted successfully, however my main problem now is that I can no longer root my Arc, and I can no longer get into cwm recovery no matter what.
Iv also read about using the fastboot method to install kernels but when i do it, it says failed as the phone is not rooted, so now i have no way at all of rooting or installing the cwm recovery.
I currently have a locked boot loader as well.
So if anyone can please tell me how i can sort this problem out it would be amazing, or if you could just tell me what i did wrong or where i went wrong and how i can sort it out, I really want to install cwm recovery and just restore my old rom back, or even install a totally new rom.
You can't flash kernels
Try SEUS or PC Companion to repair your phone
Then root it, install CWM and restore your backup
For UHD you need ICS kernel so update your arc to official ICS, then root it, install CWM and flash UHD

So in attempting to flash touch TWRP on my phone running .244 I accidentally flashed recovery instead of boot like the thread states, as I had been using another thread to make sure I used the correct commands and used recovery. I then flashed it via boot like I'm supposed to when I realised. It now bootloops after getting to "Botting DoomKernel by DoomLord". I can enter recovery and bootloader just fine, but I can't boot into android. I recently had wiped my phone as I was having issues on a custom ROM and am back on pure stock, but am rooted. I don't have a backup just yet as I had been at my girlfriends house to got on to stock, and was actually flashing TWRP to do a NANDroid. What are my options?
What want happen if you flash only the kernel again? I dont know what it happens but I would try it if I had this problem xd
Thanks so much gripfly, I don't know why the thought never occurred to me. Phone is now fixed.
Hello all!
I recently flashed the 4.16.xx firmware to my device. I am now stuck on the Bliss Rom bootscreen for some reason. Booting into recovery takes me to stock recovery and the phone isn't being recognized through ADB on several different PC's.
Am I screwed here? Any options?
Thanks for any input.
Try going into the fastboot option from the hboot (or called bootloader to many people. To get to hboot, do power and volume down when the phone is booting up. ) and try flashing your TWRP recovery from there. Also make sure your drivers are working.
If you don't know how to flash recovery just Google it, you should be fine.
Dw, dont panic, it'll be fine xD

Stock recovery is the logical result for flashing firmware, unless the firmware was hacked to remove stock recovery.
adb not working, is also normal. You need to be in OS or recovery to use adb commands (and I don't know whether you can with stock recovery). adb does not work in bootloader.
If you flashed an official firmware with s-on, then not boot is also the expected result.
You need to unlock the bootloader again, flash TWRP back onto the phone, and flash a ROM.

Hey thanks for the reply!
I figured it out finally and forgot to update the post. I ended up finding and flashing a Lollipop RUU from the SDcard and that got me booted up. Then I just had to re-flash TWRP, re-root and flash a new rom.
All is well now. Thanks for trying to help out.
So, I was attempting to root my phone(CanvasA1- 4GB) today running stock android marshmallow(6.0.1) , I successfully unlocked the boot loader in fastboot using adb, after which I flashed TWRP recovery, Which was successful but then, When I rebooted into recovery, I saw my old stock google's recovery running , I tried 2-3 more times flashing the recovery in fastboot but the probem was still the same :crying:. Then I came to know that we have to flash a special type of boot img of some 17.5mb approx, When I attempted to flash this "boot" image, I received an error saying file size too large, Hence I couldn't flash it, I am still running the stock recovery, With my bootloader unlocked, I need to root my phone, Please help someone, Thanks in advance .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...-master-tool-unlock-bootloader-t2997696/page1 use this tool and flash custom recovery simple
You can search for Android One Toolkit. Iwas encountering the same problem but this app solved my Problem.
Sorry dont have Link for the Same.
Same here. I unlocked the bootloader successfully and flashed TWRP recovery. But it shows system/default recovery only. Now stuck in bootloop.
Tried clearing cache/date etc. nothing worked. Don't know what to do.
My device is an Xperia Xa1 Ultra G3223.
Long story short, I was on rooted Android 7.0 with magisk v16 or 17 don't remember and TWRP. I was unable to update my firmware using the system so I used XperiFirm to get the latest firmware from my carrier. I used flashtools to built a .ftf for branding I wrote Sony and version I put 48.1.A.2.101. I did a factory reset then flashed it.
Now I can boot into android no problem but if I try to enter recovery it just reboots into android using adb reboot recovery. And if I try to use adb reboot-bootloader it just boot loops and the only way I can get out of it is to hold vol down to enter flash mode and reflash my .ftf. I tried using flashtool to enter fastboot but it still boot loops.
Now I'm at a loss for what to do. I was going to try and flash a kernel and recovery from another thread here but I cant do that. Is there a way to flash a kernel/recovery without fastboot or something ?
Thank for any help
Ok well i finally got it working again! I tried using Emma and that updated me to 116 but i was unable to get to the bootloader. Funny enough i unplugged my phone from the usb hub i was using and plugged it directly to my pc i was able to get to the bootloader. So i re flashed 101 and then flash a kernel and a recovery and all is good now no more bootloop when i try to go into the bootloader.
