Issue with unlocking locked phone - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I unlocked my o2 Nexus using SamsungIMEIUnlock.com
I got the code within ten minutes, and the code worked perfectly.
So I rooted my phone, and wiped it and on boot it asked for the unlock code again, I entered the code again and the phone unlocked fine.
I was a little confused as to why this had happened, so wiped the phone again to see what would happen and low and behold, it asks for the code again!
Any ideas why this is, and anyone who has used this service, can you please try to see if you have the same issue?
Many thanks!

sorry I don't have an answer to your question but I am curious as to WHAT this unlock code should do. Unless you got a CDMA version of the GN its an international device that isn't carrier locked.

not all of the uk versions of the nexus are unlocked
the o2 version i have for example was sim locked to o2

Fwiw my GN asks for the simm unlock code every boot, although mine's not a network lock, it's the code I was using to unlock my last (dumb) phone; presumably the 'phone lock' on it was actually a simm lock.

I'm also having the same issue. The code I've used was bought from eBay.
I have requested a unlock from O2 to see if thats solves the problem.

I think OP meant SIM locked. Not phone locked.

Unlocking via IMEI deals with the Radio of your phone. When you unlock the phone... the Radio is rewritten.
When you root your phone the Radio is also affected (rewritten). So there is nothing wrong - it is very normal to be asked again for the code.

I'm assuming if you wipe your data on the phone it would wipe out the previous unlock code you entered? I'm not an expert when it comes to entering this sort of data as I got an unlocked Galaxy Nexus.

Can I get rid of the Sim Lock when I flash the Radio?
I own a GN Provider A1 from Austria.

I found nothing bad and nothing good on the Internet!
I´m afraid of a scam.

Can't Unlock Desire

Have a Orange UK branded Desire that I got from Dec 2010
Basically I wanted to join the giffgaff network, but since its Orange branded, I would have to unlock the phone. So I got an unlock code from GSM Liberty for something like £16 in total because the IMEI was new.
I got my friend's Virgin Sim and put it in my phone, and the unlock screen came up as expected. Entered the code that I got..."Network Unlock Sucessfull"
But...I can't get a signal, there is no network and the strange thing is that every time I reboot the phone (or switch to Flight Mode and back) the phone would ask me for the unlock code.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Foreign SIM doesn't prompt for unlock code -- how to unlock?

I have a SaskTel Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747M, baseband version I747MVLLE8) that is locked, and I want to unlock it. But when I insert a foreign SIM (from AT&T) I get no prompt for an unlock code. Instead it just says "No SIM card. Emergency calls only." I've contacted several of the online unlock code suppliers and they say without this prompt I can't unlock the phone. I've also tried to enter variations of the *7465625* code, but they do nothing at all. SaskTel says they don't provide unlock code. This despite the fact that I purchased the phone outright, and have no contract with them. Am I totally hooped, or is there some way I can get this phone unlocked?

try another SIM, maybe the one you're using is borked.

Possible, but I doubt it, since it works just fine in another phone. In any case I don't have another one to try.

I noticed in an earlier post, the place of the unlock code was after the #, it should be before. On the right track though. Probably just a typo.

That and probably every variation of it I can think of! I am wondering though, is this code internal only to the phone, or does it go to the cellular network? When I do type it, it does nothing, though if I send it I get an "Invalid USSD" message returned from the network.

this code doesn't work on the LTE variants of the SGS3. most of the multi-stage codes (####*###) don't work, you just end up with an error.
Correct as stated. Additionally, if you have a foreign micro sim, and you are not on a stock ROM, the unlock screen prompt will not show. I was running AOKP, and could not get the prompt to show, so I flashed back to stock, unlocked phone, then flashed back to AOKP, bc TW sucks!

This is what I was starting to suspect. Can you refer me to a good, really clear step by step procedure to do this? I've never done this with a phone, and since I live in a small town, I doubt I can find anyone to help me here. So a step by step would be nice. Thanks.

i have a i747M and unlocked it with the at&t micro sim, so i know it works,
did u cut ur at&t sim down to size ? maybe u did it wrong and it wont recognize, or ur sim slot is ****ed up ....
ur best bet right now is to try another micro sim
Ok, I've now got my phone rooted. Can someone suggest how I can get the ROM set so that it will allow me to enter the unlock code when I insert a foreign SIM.
There's a 3rd potential method that hasn't been mentioned on here that we see working for most Samsung handsets. In fact, for some Samsung handsets (usually older ones) it is the only unlocking method that will work.
It is:
1. Turn on the phone with a non accepted or accepted SIM card inserted
2. Type #0111*CODE# replacing CODE with your network unlock code
However, if your service provider lock is active, then you'll need to use the code #0133*CODE# instead.
All unlocking methods (once you have the unlock code) are available here: http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/samsung-instructions.asp
Hope that helps.
Did you manage to unlock?
I'm facing the exact same issue. My S3 doesn't show the network unlock prompt when I insert a foreign SIM. Mine is locked to AT&T. It's also SGH-I747 model
You could try and unlock your phone as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033225
Then try the SIM card after the phone is unlocked.
Oh, I believe this only works on Stock ROMS.

Follow the link Tybalt quoted, you will unlock your phone and the sim won't ask for an unlock code because well, it's unlocked.... Follow the instructions, you need to be on JB 4.11 for this to work, some have had success on custom roms but not many....you don't need to root to do this and make sure when you see the success code you have 40 at the end not 30... i did this a couple times... 30 I think basically means you have locked it again ... and in the instructions when it says wait 30 or 60 seconds... you really do have to wait.. don't be impatient....it's a huge thread with many many successes.....
Samsung Galaxy S3
I have the same issue but I have a sgh-i747 Samsung galaxy S3 i brought it to koodo and was told it was a compatible phone with the company when unlocked. The problem/question i have is When i insert my new simcard the screen will not display any prompt to input a unlock code. It just says emergency calls only or unregistered sim. I inserted my sim card into another s3 same model, software versions, different provider, and the phone asked for the unlock code right when powered on. So i tried and flashed a new firmware but its doing the same thing.
I called koodo and they gave me instructions to create a new apn of Koodo SP it did not make my phone prompt me for an unlock code.
When i send an email to any website about unlocking my phone they advice me not to purchase there product if my phones not prompting me for a unlock code that will it more then likely not work.
I've seen methods online of using these to input an unlock code "#0111*UNLOCKCODE#" or "#7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE#" but when i tell the unlock website this information this still tell me not to purchase there product and i mean many numerous websites. I do not want to buy an unlock code only to try to input it with these methods and have it not work. Which i highly dought it would because the normal 7465625 command doesnt work either.
I also tried this factory unlock and it did nothing
PLEASE HELP!?!?

Thank you so much for this!
Whenever I typed any variation of the #7465625 code I would get the "emergency calls only" message. #0111*CODE# did the trick!
The provider didn't even know this, the best they could come up with after numerous calls to their hotline is that the phone was broken and/or that the SIM card was badly inserted, thus I should mail them the phone to the other side of the country for unlocking. Would they even have known how to do it over there?
My grandma says thanks!

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile can not be unlocked, they changed the unlock process and it can only be done through T-Mobile Customer Service. The unlock codes and unlock services for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are no longer available.

So youre saying you have a T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge and you unlocked it with a code? I have my code on order for this phone we purchased, but it does not prompt for a code. You used the #7465625*638*# option to do this?? I read in another forum that once the code is entered in there and the message is successful, once it reboots you still get a network error..
Please let me know the exact steps you used on your TMob S6 edge once you had the code. Thanks dude.

In my case, I have an unlock code, I input the code by #7465625*638*# without a sim and connected to the wireless. It said Unlock succesful. I reboot before putting a sim for a locked company (TELCEL from Mexico) in the phone and it is still locked.
Still waiting for the custom rom to try to unlock it that way. Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile is the only carrier with this problem I guess.
I already asked for T-mobile to unlock it. They say I am totally elegible for unlock it (by app), but I had to wait for the process in their system.
I 'll tell you if this status change.

Yeah, I just purchased one at our store which is financed assuming I could just buy the code like we always do.
I quoted user: Z51 or whatever because he says he ordered his code from unlockdeals and successfully unlocked a TMobile S6 Edge. I hope he responds and clarifies what he did to get this to work because it seems like everyone else cant get it going. I NEEEEED this phone unlocked in order to sell it for the full amount I was hoping.
We may need to be a bit patient...

From what I understand, you have to flash a METROPCS S6 EDGE stock rom on top of your phone to get rid of T-mobiles nasty unlocking app restriction.
Even if you use those dial pad codes into your phone it wont work.
Which brings up the question: How long till MetroPCS releases the S6 EDGE and someone dumps the stock ROM here in our forums. Then we are good to go.
I unlocked a lot of phones and they ALL get unlocked by inserting a NON accepted sim card into the phone and they prompt for a message " SIm network unlock Pin"
Hope this helps!

[Q] HTC one m9 unauthorized sim card

Hello guys, sorry to bother. I am contacting you to see if someone can help me, i´ve searched and searched the web without any luck. Almost three weeks ago i got here in Mexico an HTC one M9 from Telcel, I have two mobile phones two lines one telcel one iusacell. I needed to change the iusacell phone but did not like what they had. I got the telcel phone HTC one m9, and it was unlocked from telcel, i put my iusacell sim and worked great. Strangely after two weeks, the screen intact, with not a bump and a glass cover, internally failed and i sent it to a authorized center from the provider, they sent it to HTC and HTC sent me a brand new phone.
This new HTC one m9 works perfect with the telcel chip, i inserted the iusacell chip and it gave me message "UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD, EC calls only". I assumed it was normal, went and bought the unlock code and tried to enter it, but i noticed it never popped the network unlock screen, it always pops the UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD EC CALLS ONLY" message on the main screen and the only thing it lets me do with the iusacell chip is place emergency calls. no codes, not even to check imei.
I´ve been looking for support with no help, when entering the unlock code and hitting call (no ok button) it tells me its not an emergency call.
Searching i found that its probably that in the service menu (mode) they deactivated the network unlock screen, but i have not found how to get into the service mode of the phone, everywhere for older htcs they say its *#0011# but no luck, the only codes that work are the *#*#4636#*#* and the 3424 but none of them help me.
What can i do? I prefer to use my iphone for that line and use this phone for my other line which is on a different carrier.
Any ideas or help?
cheers and thanks
Ivan
They gave you a new phone, new motherboard and it's not unlocked. I would assume. It'll probably need to be simple unlocked again. With the first phone you had to request that it be unlocked right?

Strangely enough the first phone i bought came unlocked, i had purchased online the unlock code but when i inserted another sim i did not require it. The problem with this replacement M9 is that although i´ve already bought the unlock code the screen never prompts for the network unlock code. When i insert a different sim that from the carrier (telcel) it prompts an "UNAUTHORIZED SIM CARD; ER CALLS ONLY", i´ve inserted IUSACELL MEXICO SIM, ATT USA SIM
TMOBILE USA SIM all with the same result.

I know with the T-Mobile phones, or at least I'm pretty sure, we have to flash an international rom to get that screen to come up. Kinda sucks but maybe that's the problem?

I used ARHD to unlock my T-Mobile m9. Prior to that I also wasn't getting the option of putting in sim unlock code similar to yours. However once you flash and sim unlock it, you can flash any rom and the sim unlock will stick. Good luck.

Thanks =) i did manage to get a new rom into it ARHD and interesting enough when inserting a different carrier sim now I do get the network unlock code screen. I tested the pin i had bought and it did not work, I asked and they told me they will try to find it out. I did try a few more services to buy the code but they all tell me that they cannot find my IMEI in their database. This i find really strange, does anyone know what can it be? I need to unlock since i will be travelling to the USA and want to put a prepaid card into my phone.
cheers

I had the same problem as you. My HTC was originally from T-Mobile, I unlocked bootloader, flashed latest TWRP recovery, rooted and S-off'ed. After that I also set CID to BS_US001 and MID to 0PJA11000
After that downloaded Developer Edition RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-one-m9/general/att-developer-edition-ruu-how-to-t3086948 (use the 1.32.617.30 RUU.zip, using the 0PJAIMG.ZIP method), after that you will be prompted to insert unlock code and receive latest updates, hope it helps!

Hold on there's a tested and working free sim unlock in here somewhere! I have used it and multiple others, let me try to get the link.

Unlocked Pixel XL 2 Verizon Sim

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered, I did a bit of searching but didn't find an exact answer. Maybe I'm getting two narrow sighted in my search, but anyhoo! I ordered a Pixel Xl 2 unlocked from Google. My question is if I pop a verizon sim into the deivce, will updates or any changes cause it to lock the bootloader. Should I unlock the bootloader to make sure it retains it's unlockable state or is it fine to pop in the verizon sim with no worries?
I am on Verizon also, and I too ordered the Google store unlocked version just so I could unlock bootloader when I got my phone. What I read and did was boot the phone WITHOUT SIM card connect to WiFi, skipped the setup, and enabled developer options to be able to unlock bootloader, unlocked bootloader and then I put the Sim card in and continued to set my phone up. If I were you, I would also do the unlock_critical command as well since it will also wipe data. I was unaware of that when I did mine. So future wipe is necessary for me.
Edit: wording
I used my pixel xl witch I ordered from Google on verizon for 2 months last year before I decided to unlock it and had no issues. If you concerned about it just unlock it now. If you not as worried but still think this could happen just manually side the update from Google every time a update is released just remember to remove the -w from the flash file and then you are ensured that it will flash all the unlocked able software!

Not sure I've ever heard of a sim being able to lock the BL, the Verizon model to the best of my knowledge is locked from google before it ships to vzw stores.
No... If you buy unlocked, the phone is unlocked.
I bought the Unlocked one from Google store and popped my Verizon SIM in. Bootloader is unlockable still

Same here, ordered the 2xl from Google, unlocked version. On Verizon. Unlocked the P2XL before putting the sim in (I did both bootloader and unlock_critical). Popped in the sim. No problem.
However, I would agree, and assume (again, didn't test this) even if you put the sim in first, you can still unlock, it's just that it won't ask you for WiFi when you activate the first time, it will simply use the LTE connection to connect.
The SIM controlling the unlock in the Pixels is an urban myth that just won't seem to die.

Sounds as ridiculous as people that wipe three times before flashing

Are you using the stock or Verizon factory image on it?

I am using the stock Google image. But I did download the Verizon image and used the Verizon radio.img.

Thanks for that. Had tried to load the Verizon factory image on my US Unlocked bootloader unlocked P2XL, but it would not boot at all
after several tries. Doing just the radio img is a great solution.

I haven't flashed anything whatsoever, all I did was get the device, open the case, charge it, unlock the bootloader (and critical), then set it up, then put in my sim (may have put the sim in before I set it up, can't remember, but definitely unlocked first, to be safe).
Is there an advantage to using the Verizon Radio Image? Does it give us something we don't already have? I'm getting expected LTE speeds (~18-20 mb/s down, ~4 mb/s up) with my phone so far...?

I can understand people being cautious, though. Not knowing ahead of time, I definitely read a bunch of threads first before I just turned it on, again, to be safe.... Is there any source you can point us to, so in the future when people ask this, we can say "Sims do not control the ability to lock/unlock.... See Here: [insert link here]"
