[Q] G2 Stuck on HBOOT/Volume Keys& Power buttons do not work - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did a battery pull on my gf's phone because it was acting funny and had no service. I turned it on to see that it goes straight to HBOOT. i even try to get to the recovery and it goes to HBOOT. Every way i try to reboot it, it goes into HBOOT. The Volume up and down keys do not work and either does the power button so i cannot choose to go to recovery or select anything from the HBOOT menu. Someone please guide me into the right direction or can somebody give me a list of things to do? I would greatly appreciate any help given. PLEASE AND THANK YOU ANYONE!
ps - It is rooted with s-off

don't worry, in the worse case, our un-brick expert here on XDA, Josh - connexion2005, can un-brick most any bricked G2 for $40
here is his website!
he has 435 thanks here on XDA - that should tell you something about his magical powers!!

You could use fastboot to tell the phone to boot.
You can get to fastboot holding down the trackpad while powering on, or it might be the first option in hboot.
From your computer, run 'fastboot oem boot' to get the phone to boot,
otherwise if you have eng hboot you can use 'fastboot boot boot.img' to boot a rom (kernel) or recovery.

[Q] I rooted, flashed, and then what appears to be bricked. I am looking for help.

I'm fairly new.
I rooted my phone and flashed Virtuous rom to it.
I ended a call then my phone froze, it was frozen for a while so i took out the battery now it will not power on.
Can anyone help?
If anyone is gonna help you we need more info what rooting method did you use? did you flash a eng Hboot? what recovery(most likely clockwork) does it power on at all any HTC screen? boot screen? try holding volume down and power to boot it does it bring you to the boot menu? what does it say on that screen? answer these questions and make sure you let us know exactly what it says on the boot menu screen if you can get there does it say s-off or s-on so on so forth reply back ill be watching this thread next few days to try and help
Agreed with above. Give as many details as you can. Also it would help if you link to the tutorials you used (if you dont know specifics to how you rooted)
The phone doesn't power on?
Are you on the latest clockwork recovery (3.0.0.5) ?
If so...then your phone should automatically boot to recovery when you plug the charger in while its off.

boots to black screen after HTC logo

Hey guys, hoping someone can answer this because it's kind of a dire situation... but I was flashing a new updated Rom to my phone, specifically Blackout ICS INCREDIBLE V.3.1.0 and when using the aroma installer that comes with it from rrecovery, i decided not to do a full wipe because i already have blackout v3.0 so i thought it would just update the rom like usual. Anyways my problem is when i turn it on, after the HTC logo it just goes to a black screen and will not boot. Normally if I have a bad flash I just boot up the recovery but heres the catch... my volume down button doesn't really work.. fml
Is there a way to possibly adb push my phone without recovery? Because i cant get into recovery by holding power+down
See point 6 of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605720
You should be able to boot a recovery.img stored on your pc using fastboot if you can run fastboot commands from where you are.
Edit: easier method - if you can run fastboot commands then run fastboot reboot -bootloader. Use the vol plus key to navigate hboot.
Maybe a silly question but as the post below suggests have you tried pressing vol - really hard?
I had the same issue today and my dhd also has a damaged downbutton.
Anyway i removed the cover on the battery slot and clicked it only in the upper part to get the contact, after that i overpushed the downbutton and bootloader showed up!
Hope this could help u or someone!

Help I just bricked my one x can't even fastboot

I have unlocked my bootloader then install the recovery.
And I am flashing a ROM ,but as I came from Atrix the step was to flash from recovery
I didn't read the instruction and flash the ROM through recovery without flashing boot.img first
Now, I can't boot to my ROM (It stuck at HTC quietly brilliant screen)
So, I reboot it and try to enter fastboot ,but not either. I can't get to fastboot. pressing volume down and power
Then, I was unable to turn it off. I disassemble and take the battery out. and charge it for an hour now. But, still no luck can't get to fastboot.
Anyone can help me.
I am so dumb if I have read the instruction, I wouldn't brick.
I don't know what pure doing wrong, but holding down power and volume down will get you to hboot. From there you can go to fastboot and then flash the boot.img.
Not even hboot too. press volume - and power doesn't do anything for me. or do they need more battery?
Then you're doing it wrong or your buttons are broken.
Keep hold of volume even after it reboots. Don't let go until you're in hboot.
When I first installed custom ROM I made the same mistake and didn't flash boot.img separately, causing the device to just hang at HTC screen you described, or being in a constant bootloop. However I was able to get into bootloader and sort things out. I know it's something basic, but are you making sure you hold that volume down + power button long enough?
Oh GOD! I got it! It boot into hboot and I can fastboot now. I think the button are hard to press so, I can't press it correctly the first time. THANKS

No need to pay first try to hold the volume down button and then hold power button untill you go in bootloader after this connect the phone to a computer if your battery is empty the best way is to connect battery pack on the back side pins and try then go in bootloader but if your battery iss complete dead no solution you must to charge ytour phone but this can be done from bootloader with the bat file
EDIT: Next time when you are in trouble ask before discharge the phone
Have you flashed boot.img?
E: se this too

Hi disaster Again
the above problem i mentioned was solved, i could get my laptop to recognise the phone in ADB and i just had to enter the command adb reboot bootloader.
but now i have even bigger problem. i was running ARHD and everything was going fine unless i decided to upgrade to miui based on 4.4.4
so i went into fastboot by typing adb reboot bootloader and then flashed the boot.img of miui rom, then i pressed power down in fastboot thinking i'll connect and then go into recovery and then flash the zip of the rom
but now i cant get into either recovery or fastboot(bootloader) and neither my phone is recognised in adb.
please guys help me out.
Have you read this and followed all steps exactly?
Can you enter bootloader holding vol down and power button?
Do you have recovery on device?
See i cannot go into bootloader or recovery anyhow, yes i had recovery on my device by which i flashed the ARHD
i Flashed the boot image for the MIUI bases on 4.4.4 but now it doesnt boot up, neither i can nacces bootloader nor it is recognised by ADB

HTC One M8 (Bricked?) PLEASE HELP!

Hi there,
So recently I just tried rooting my HTC One M8, with the All-In-One tool kit. It was successful, I was messing around with it for a while, removing bloat wear, ect. Then I figured out about custom roms, and heard about CyanMod11. It turns out that it couldn't read my sim card for whatever reason, but it still worked and loaded up. Then, I tried Android Revolution. THAT one worked flawlessly, besides the fact that I couldn't take screen shots for whatever reason. I should of just left it there. Here's where things go wrong. Then, I tried ViperOneM8. After that, it failed to load up and is now in a endless boot loop. I can't get into fast boot either. However, one time I somehow did manage to get into fast boot, but I didn't see the "recovery" option anymore. So... I'm out of ideas here. I'm really worried I bricked my device for good. My device powers on and everything, it just won't load up any OS, and I can't get into fastboot/recovery. Why I'm mainly worried is I failed to create a back up also. I'm running out of ideas here, and if ANYONE could help me that would be great.

first you posted in the wrong forum this goes in Q&A
second what do you mean it won't go into fastboot / recovery ? what happens when your in the bootloader ?
I need the results of fastboot getvar all to determine what files you need to fix your phone ( not you serial no. or IMEI)
most likely your on an older firmware and you have s-on and the Rom you flashed requires s-off and the latest firmware
Gah sorry, I find this forum layout kind of confusing. So this is another problem. I cannot access "getvar", it just says device offline, and I close that command prompt and then the next one just says "please wait," and nothing happens.
What I mean by it won't go into fast boot, is when I hit power + volume down it won't load anything. Here's a pic I found off Google, I can't get to this screen here.

Easy way to get into boot loader
Turn on your phone
When it gets into bootloop
Press and hold power+vol up+vol down until screen goes off
As soon as that happens press and hold power+vol down
You'll be in boot loader
And I must say you are a major noob
Navigate to hboot using vol buttons then press power button to select, you'll find recovery
These are just 2 modes hboot and fastboot
From fast boot you can select hboot and vice versa
And also getvar will work ONLY when you're in fastboot mode
Hboot mode is used for accessing recovery
