Another "which rom to try" thread

Hi guys I need a new stable rom...currently on oxygen 2.1.6 and just not enjoying the low battery life and a few other bugs...toss up as I see is between insertcoin or neophyte

Then AOSP ROM's like Oxygen should be best for battery life, you can also try CyanogenMod 7.

Sense ROMs are not going to help improve battery life, you're better off looking into AOSP for that. That said, you could try to alter your usage to get more battery ie: screen at a lower brightness, 3G off, no background syncing etc.

Redux is fantastic for HTC Desire, it's also a ROM that's made for the HTC Desire only, so it's very fine-tuned for it. Battery life on Redux was far better than CM7 and Sense as well.

Why don't you try to change RADIO or something ... battery life won't improve by instaling other ROM cuz oxygen is the most battery efficient ...

Indeed.
Oxygen is less overheaded!
But we have to do "try and error" many times 'cause it's the only way to determine which RADIO is the best for your carrier.
Combination with RIL and RADIO will affect your battery also.
For me, Ginger Villain 2.6 + stock RADIO/RIL + MANU Kernel was the best.

I prefer to use RCMix3d Runny v3.0 personally. Experiencing original sense 3.5 is awesome . the only bug you will see is the 720p videos. you can solve this problem by using free video player apps like "MX Video player" or "MoboPlayer".

RCMix3D Runny v3 is fantastic. Moved to this from LeeDroid. I have used Revolution HD as well.

Frankly, after using MIUI none of the Sense or other roms made me feel satisfied. I like the usefulness of the MIUI. But I don't like the UI so much. It's simple and all but you need so much extra-apps or widgets to make it your way. I guess till HTC decides to do sth new for DHD, I will go on using MIUI.
(The biggest pro of Sense was scrollable and set of widgets Sense provide. That you can have with MIUI too now. If you don't want fancy looks and all, MIUI is giving everything you need really smoothly.)

The Android Revolution HD is much faster and stabler. I did use RCMix Runny and Sensation rom's and they are little buggy and sometimes slow too.
But that's just my opinion.

depends on what exactly you prefer
if you like stability and very good support (trust me ..it matters)(actualy i think it has the BEST SUPPORT ON XDA ...but is my opinion)
than ANDROID REVOLUTION is by FAAAAR the CHOICE
the philosophy of Android Revolution is to be as closed to the HTC BASE
The ROM is EXTREMELY STABLE, almost BUG -free , fast and very good with battery
Now if you prefer to have the latest Stuff (and usually the Newbies do ) , than Runny is the choice for you. Capychimp is a great developer, probably the Best in mater of Porting stuf, also very few bugs, and good support
my opinion is that you have to chose between these to(LeeDroid is also very good but Revolution is better and for me MIUI is not an Options since SENSE was one of the reasons that i buy an HTC)
so long story short
For the HYPE...Runny
For the STABILITY...Android Revolution (in my opinion , the BEST ROM, and i've tried from Cyanogen to MIUI....but is always a matter of taste )

I've been using "RCMix3d Runny v3.2" and its very stable.
I've not had the device long but the past few days I've used this ROM I've had no problems whatsoever.
Great battery life with wifi use, texts, browsing.. In conjunction with SetCPU and ATK I managed to get over 17hours down to 5% battery remaining

Please search before opening a new thread. It would have shown you that only you will be able to tell what works best for you.

ROM: Im using Android Revolution HD 6.3.3
REC: 4EXT touch Recovery
Pros: Excellent Battery Life
Cons: only problem is struggling with the call recording feature atm
RATE: happy with the rom, but looking for something a bit more special :S

ROM: I'm using Android Revolution HD 7.0.4.
REC: 4EXT touch Recovery.
Pros: Excellent Battery Life, lighting fast.
Cons: nothing I noticed so far.

ive tried arhd 7.0.3 and 7.0.4 and had the same problem with both, despite having awesome battery life, i dont have an internet connection at home so my phone gets used ALOT so have 3 batterys and everytime i remove a battery and replace it the ringtone and notifications tones all change to a random mp3!
yes i tried the method of fixing this on the arhd thread

No I haven't noticed any of those problems, the only problem is that you can't record in 720p HD unless you flash RCMix3D Tweaks wich is really nice.

Pro:sense 3.5 rom, smooth as butter, with rcmix v12.2 kernel battery life is amazing. Tweaks!!
Cons:with a lot of applications installed on sd system reboot randomly it self but I think is a problem of sense all 3.5 rom.
I really want to suggest to use this rom with this kernel and with nofrills make a little oc up to 1152mhz and ondemeandx gov. Brilliant battery life, brilliant performance. For very massive everyday usage!

I flash new roms every 4 days or so but I got to say coredroid 9.4 offers the best of everything. Battery life is great, lots of tweaks and personalization, blazing fast. One of the best roms I've tried since rcmix. I highly recommend it.

ROM: TwistedUmbrella ICS builds.
Recovery: Standard ClockWorkMod
Pros: Clean. Developer is active.
Cons: Reasonably beta. Some force closes here and there. Might have to play around a bit to get it to boot sometimes.
Rate: 8/10. Amazing developer who seems quite selfless.

Pros: highly tweaked, AWESOMEEE developer, battery life is good, ICS!! very fast, camera works...video can works with videocam illusion
Cons: very rarely I get random reboot, some fcs, videocam doesnt 'officially' work

Does anybody know what is the best kitkat rom for desire hd?
i'm using GimmeaBreak now and it uses battery a lot.
a rom whit no major bugs and a good performance and battery life.
