[Q] SIM card not found - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, ive purchased a new xperia play that was delivered today.
Everything worked fine until i updated the firmware and now it does not recognise my, or any other SIM cards.
I get the error message "Please insert SIM card and restart your phone".
Done some googling, cant find much of any use.
Cheers in advance

How did you update? OTA, SEUS or Flashtool? Maybe you should try the repair function in SEUS

If you still have your phone I suggest you update to the latest firmware, apparently the stock firmware had a bug that didn't read the sim and sd card firmware at the same time..
So try doing that and then do my advice from the previous post, it's worth a try

Sim locked after flashing

Hi,
I have an Acer Liquid E for half a year now, and decided to flash a custom ROM on it.
I Flashed it with LiquidNext without any problems, but my GPS software didn't work on it.
So i flashed it back with a standard ROM.
The problem starts here...
The ROM I found, downloaded an flashed my phone with, was one for Fido devices only.
I didn't notice the message that it's for Fido phones only in the thread of that site *dumb me*, so I flashed the Fido ROM to my Liquid E *still dumb me*.
Problem is: My phone asksk for a code to unlock my sim card, because it thinks it is a Fido device...
I don't have such code, so I have a huge problem.
I already paid for a code, but I still have to hear that my phone has no matching unlock code.
Pretty obvious, because my phone is not a standard Fido phone, so the IMEI code has no match.
But my question is: How can I unlock my device?
I already tried:
www .acer-club. fr/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=814
(remove space after www and before fr; can't post links yet)
and also to put another ROM on it.
But nothing seems to help.
Can one of you pro's help me?
Thanks in advance!

Anybody please?
Id like to know where you found the fido rom

I did. I tried 5 different services (ebay, unlock sites...), but no one could help.
Everybody refunded the money because they couldn't find a code for my phone.
They say that it's because it was no Fido phone at first, so there is no code availiable.
cheers
Can you just not put another rom on your phone and try it then or will it still be locked

I tried several different ROM's, but the phone is still locked.
I tried LiquidNext, Liquid-Community-Rom and even the standard acer ROM.
Maybe the rom is corrupted try to DL it again and also ...when had you flashed your phone hade you removed the sim?????

No, I didn't remove the sim, didn't thought it was necessary. But the SIM works fine on my old nokia, so that's not the problem I think.
I already tried to download it again, but it doesn't help.
I've read somewhere that it could be the radio ROM. Is this possible?
cheers
pay service center to get it done if flashing roms do not help you.....
or there are methods i saw for my device but they are too sensitive that bricked many phones

pay service center = shop where I bought it?
Because it's an Acer phone, and the devices from acer take months to get repaired and sent back to you...
good luck I hope someone on the site can help ya
did you try using any other sim on your acer !!
if no sim works , it may also be the hardware fault or your sim reader may be busted !!
Maybe this is the solution
Yesterday evening i have installed a new "OS" in my phone (samsung Ace). The Os
is Glsmt v2.1 and i had your same problem but i solve it because there was a
theme that hide the unlocking of Sim.Now if your Os have a default theme try to
disabled it and unlocking the sim with PIN code. Please let me know if you solved
@aaki_rocker
I tried other sim, but still the same...
Hardware is not broken, because he sees the sim, but just can't connect to the network.
@s1m1
No themes availiable that can disable the sim lock...
Any more suggestions?
(thanks for the great help so far!)
Sorry for the double post, but it seems that it could be solved by flashin the stock radio rom.
So if anyone could help me with the stock radio rom, I would be thankful!

[Q] Arc S ICS Upgrade SIM Card Not Valid

Hi guys,
Fistly I want to congratulate for the awesome forum.
Well I am a noob and I do have a problem.
I've recently upgraded my Arc S with the official ICS (Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1598072 ) using flashtool 0.7.0.0 and now I sometimes get an invalid SIM card message or SIM card no installed with the reboot option. I've also noticed that this only happens (or maybe it's just my impression) after installing an antivirus. (Happened with AVG pro - cracked and Lookout). Strangely I've compared my phone with a friends one and we do have everything the same (baseband, etc...) and It doesn't do that on his phone.
EDIT: It's not the antivirus. I've uninstalled and it's still happening.
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance.
I''ve also (by mistake) open another post:

Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance.
Not even one reply? Please guys help!

Your best bet would be to do a repair through pcc at this point. I dont have that issue myself.

I have the same problem with my Neo V, I tried repairing through the PC suite but, the problem still exists and its really annoying...!!
Some please help...
Try the SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) to repair your firmware.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
I tried repairing using SEUS too but, still have the same bug. Somebody please help.
Well people I had to change SIM card because (and after talking to quite a few "experts" either from here and Sony Blogs) I came to the conclusion that if you flash the new ICS with the SIM card on the phone it might "burn" your sim card on ICS firmware only as I tried downgrading to GB and it worked fine. My advice is to try to get a new SIM (if you can keep you number great!) and you should be ok. Since I've changed my SIM card I haven't had a problem yet.
I wish I could help you with a "do this" or "do that" solution but at the moment there is none as I've searched and couldn't find it!
Good luck with the new ICSthatismoretroublethangood!
Cleaning sim card contacts might help.
I had this lots of in my previous Nokia phones.

Xperia PRO - no network with any SIM, radio brick ? Any fix possible ?

Hi guys,
I had an Xperia Pro updated to ICS 4.0.4 stock, everything was working ok, one morning at work I couldn't get any signal in any part of the building, removed SIM and placed in a different phone, it was getting some signal, back to Xperia Pro, no signal again and when picking manually one of the networks was giving an error message ( like ... network unavailable or check if SIM inserted ), tried activating - deactivating plane mode, still no change, at a certain moment it rebooted by itself, but still no change.
Went home, tried a different SIM, same thing, did a factory reset of the phone, still same error and won't join any network.
Thought, OK it's time to try a different ROM, maybe more luck.
So unlocked bootloader, flashed Cyanogenmod 7.2, install went OK and all, but still the same problem, it won't join any network with any SIM I put in.
What can I try next ? Anyone has any idea ?
Thanks for any suggestion or advice
I think there is a problem with the hardware.

Hmmm ... it was in my pocket while going to work, I later noticed the lack of network signal, but there wasn't any shock or whatever, just regular commute from home to office.
Additional Info: I've remember something that might be relevant: after the reboot in CM7.2 it kept asking for the SIM unlock PIN I think, and it didn't work with the PIN that I knew the SIM had, after a couple tries I clicked "reject" to avoid locking the SIM.
Not sure if it means the phone become locked ?! should I try to unlock it ? It was normally already unlocked before, not sure if it makes any sense what I'm imagining here ...

Its the country where its for, but you can use both.
All unbranded FIrmwares work everywhere

I used the Central Europe because the file has a slightly newer date.
Had problems with using Flashtool under Windows, probably some driver wasn't correctly installed as my computer was freezing every time I connected in flashmode. Fortunately I have a dual boot and it worked under Ubuntu.
But no luck, still no service after back to ICS.
But I found some other thread on the net that pointed to check mend, and guess what ... doing a report resulted in "Currently blocked - CheckMEND has a record of this item having been blocked by one or more cell phone networks"
Now ... wtf can I do next ?!
Ask your Carrier for help, maybe they now something

Tried a couple of them, either they say they can't do anything ( if I don't have a contract with them ), or one operator told me have no blockage or record of this IMEI.
So ... more and more confused and clueless ...
getting into the SIM Lock menu of the phone ( using the *#*#-whatever-#*#* combination ), every digit is 0, I've read that it means it's "hardlock" but not sure what exactly this means and especially how can it be unlocked ?!

Where to buy Xperia M motherboard

A year ago, my Xperia M dual was hardbricked by corrupted nand memory, I'm thinking to repair it, but I don't know where to buy a motherboard
So anybody can suggest a good site to buy a cheap motherboard from it, even if it was a used part.
Thanks in advance

One day morning I wake up, I unlocked my phone and Google play services was keeping on showing force close message, so I rebooted and then phone showed that it is encrypted and asked for password...
I tried all possible ways to fix it, I tried to flash stock firmware via flash tool but it showed error 0017 as far as I remembered.
I lost hope when I found that nand memory was broken. @bonoobo is familiar with this case.
