Rootzwiki > ET4G forums > they have a completely stripped ROM for you.
Yes, there are other ROMs...
There are indeed custom ROMs out there...I am just offering help for those folks like me who are rooted but wish to continue using the stock ROM and just tweak it a bit by stripping it down and removing bloat. Installing a full custom ROM is a separate matter...

thanks for d info. keep kies lol it will comes handy.

Backup/Restore Suggestions...
The first thing I like to do immediately after rooting a new phone and making a ClockworkMod backup is to use Root Explorer to then make two copies of the following folders prior to stripping out any apps: System/App folder, System/Media folder, and the ClockworkMod/Backup folder (Which at this point contains a ClockworkMod backup of the original, unstripped stock ROM.)
I like to keep one copy of each of these three folders on the SD card itself, and put the second copy of each on my computer at home as a safe, redundant backup.
Then, if you ever want to restore any app that you had previously stripped out, you simply use Root Explorer to copy and paste the app (and it's .odex file) from your original copy of the System/App folder on the SD card to the System/App folder on the phone, and then (if necessary) change the app and it's .odex's permissions to match the correct settings that all of the other apps and .odex's are set to: Long-press the .apk or .odex, select "permissions", then make sure the permissions match up exactly with the other system .apk's permissions. Reboot the phone, and the app will be restored, good to go! (I like to reboot to recovery and clear the cache and Dalvik cache also...)
Cheers!

Thanks VegasRooted...looking to do something similar with my E4T. Too many apps running in the background that I have no idea what they're doing.
I'm having a problem finding the Insecure Kernel that closely resembles mine: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734. Can you point me to where I can find the correct one? I can't show the link that I found at Inspired Geek that lists different kernels.

Google "Epic 4G Touch Root Zedomax" and go to the XDA forum thread where you can follow the instructions to use Odin to install a (mostly) stock kernel with Superuser added to it, or Google "Android Creative Syndicate" and go to their website where you can find another Kernel to load the same way that has Superuser and ClockworkMod in it...Both will get you rooted, and there is a stock ROM (EG30) out there also that you can install with Odin in case anything goes wrong and you have to roll everything back to stock...(I did this once also.)
I am using Zedomax's Kernel right now...once installed it shows as "2.6.35.7"
Cheers!

Thanks so much! This gave me a great start to getting rid of everything useless on my phone.
hey OP, thanks for the list.
I posted a ROM a little while ago on rootz here
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8056-rom-10262011-naerokrom-beta-v12-odex-bare-bones-130mb/
on the 3rd post, I listed all the apk's I removed through personal testing. There might be some in there you don't have listed, if you want to take a look. Hope it helps get rid of all the junk you don't need. I'm sure you are OCD like I am about pre-installed crapware
If I dont want to uninstall all those applications, can I just use titanium backup to freeze them and be just as effective?

depends on what you mean by "effective"
although they are frozen, they still take up a lot of space in the /system partition.
I like to remove them completely and keep the partition as light as possible
Cool

Great work! Is it possible to make a zip file that's flashable through CWM that will remove these unneeded files..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Thank you thread starter for this thread One of the best ever!! lol. I really want to know what all the apps mean and what they do before I remove it and something stops working that I usually use. I don't want to make any extra work for anybody though. I guess I can google the stuff I don't know.
Hey question for you all.. This is a picture of what im running.. With what im running am i able to safely still remove the above apps?

Those are mostly still correct. I thought removing Google talk messed other stuff though so I wouldn't delete that. When I run a stock setup I only delete stuff I know for sure I don't use. This includes the Samsung widgets and apps, Sprint apps, and the randoms like nova and nascar.
This is basically cakulins bare rom converter. With the exception of a few apps.

Does that still work? I seem to remember having an issue the last time I tried it.
It does. Remember that you have to flash it immediately after flashing a new Rom.

Thanks for posting, I tried those and ended up with no volume and people said I didnt have a video icon by my name to be called but I could video call them.
I then used the same files but changed the talk2 to talk.apk and ran modacos gtalk app to mod gtalk to work. People can now see a camera by my name and can call me but I havent been able to test for sound yet while im at work right now. Will keep trying with these files hopefully something works.
Just wanna make sure they are from a 2.3.4 ? Im sure it is just double checking :/ thanks again for the files though !

Any 2.3.4 ROMS that can be used with R800x?

As the title states there any Rome we can use? I know there are the CM7 roms but I am looking for SE.

None whatsoever. The next possible update will be ICS 4.0.3 when Sony releases a CDMA version.
depends on if you need phone functions.

Yes I need phone functions. The reason I was looking for a 2.3.4 rom for my verizon r800x was beciuse I wanted to use the PS Store. Its ok I found a work around, where you just move the permissions (.xml) and the framework (.jar) file ot the appropriate folders and set the permissions. These are the files from the 2.3.4 ps pocket app, if you are on Verizon 2.3.3 and you set these files inthe correct places and change permissions and reboot I am able to use the ps pocket and the ps store on my R800x 2.3.3 phone....
I was able to get these files from Poo-Tang (thank you) All is good and this thread can be closed or left open to help other 2.3.3 verizon users

I've tried that as well, but I get an error code everytime I start up the PS Store on my R800x. Are you able to actually use the store and buy games?

I think CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 (2.3.7) is your best bet for the moment.

FIFA 12 is sooo much better and works like a charm in XP, but probably you can find the FIFA 10 apk opening some of the original rom files of the XP because it came preinstalled.
Ftf files are zip compressed files so you can open them changing their extension from .ftf to .zip. Then extract system.sin to get it using Ftf Extractor (it's easy to find out) and enter the following: aiup.exe system.sin 2048
So, all you need is finding a ftf file of the original firmware and the ftf extractor tool. And a little bit of luck.
Fifa 12 is indeed much better. Anyone know if fifa 13 will be out for android and/or Xperia play optimised?

[Q] [SOLVED] Request for TimeScape, Market & Preloaded Games & PSPocket

Hey guys im on stock debloated (yes i removed timescape & other stuff but i want it now for some reasons...) atm and i would really appreciate all the timescape files to have timescape working fully! also if possible can one provide me with a method/guide of how to get the stock android 2.3 market (and to stop it automagically updating), the one before the laggy and ugly ICS/KLP themes, and one more thing, if you could provide me with the PS1 Emulator thingy and the Crash Bandicoot.apk too, please, and just 1 last thing, could u also provide me with the .apk files of all the preloaded games!
I would do it myself but i don't want to reset/flash anything on my play for some reasons (in all seriousness its not laziness...)
Tnx in Advance,
EDIT
Thanks to Bakisha all i need now is The Pre-Installed Games & Timescape UI (just timescape ui, no fb or twitter),
EDIT
Extracted the System.sin from The .58 Enhanced v3 FTF and then extraced it with the sin extractor from flashtools then extracted the system stuffs from the system.yaffs2, so tnx for any help, but ive done it already,
I think market app will auto-update even if you install older version.
i think there is some app that can prevent auto-updating by patching, if you are lucky, you can find in google :silly:

YW, i use a lot timescape's widgets
In XDA plugin, it's the number at the end of the thread
Example, link to this thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427265 so ID for this thread will be 2427265
Just look on browser in the link at whatever you want to follow
