Oh! I checked for firmware upgrade using Kies yesterday but it said something like "Your device cannot be updated". Probably because I was using JPJG8 which is not an official release.

There was a tar file and a dll file in the JPJG8 package too. I simply ignored the dll file and used the tar file as the PDA. And of course a PIT file. Everything else blank. Worked fine.
Damn, no power here! Wonder how much longer I'm gonna have tp wait to download this. x(

Samsungs version JPO and JP6 had serious bugs... Making it slower and slower... Maybe they did that on purpose because they had to release the source-code, I dont know. But JPA works alot better.

Ok, I have read the opposite statements, that JPO is the one that's best for the time being - either stable and fast (no lagfix-s necessary).

The registry hack doesnt work with the newest version, downgrade to any version < _100 (f.e. _82)
Change:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\]
"LocalVer"="1.5.3.10103.100"
and all other settings you want. Check the link provided by miro666.
The you will get JPO, if JPO is for your Region available.

JPA and JPO are pretty much identical, so I really wouldn't change JPA into JPO just because you have read somewhere that it's better. Also, JPA and JPO might feel fast at first, but after installing some apps they will became so slow that you'll need to enable some lagfix anyway.

Already did that - version of Kies is downgraded to bellow 100 and changed in registry.
And hueman all you are saying is I got the ProductCode wrong?

Well if JPO is for UK and the product code for UK-sold handsets is XEU, then ye, you need to change it from XEE to XEU

Maybe you are right.... I only tested JP6 and JPA and JP6 got very very slow after a short period of usage. JPA is alot better in that regards. Im running JPA with JPM kernel with all partions ext4 at the moment and the my SGS has no lag.
So maybe JPM is better than JP6 too....

Those setting will get you the Swedish firmware which is: I9000XWJPA/I9000XEEJP4/I9000XXJPP/I9000XWJPA
To get JPO (I9000XXJPO/I9000OXAJPO/I9000XXJPP/I9000XXJPO), try this:

You might be confusing the old JPA with the release version JPA
the old JPA from a few weeks ago is not the final release build
the new JPA is based off the same version as JPO

Available & working a treat! Upgraded my Voda Galaxy S to Froyo this morning using Keis.
No Longer have that awful Vodafone Splash Screen.
Seems to me Vodafone have done a good job with this froyo update & actually listened to their customers, with regards
to the Vodafone Branding at least!

This is the same JPA rom released before with TMN CSC
TMN rom is very customized (tons of apps you don't really need).

How can I extract .enc files? TIA

thanks nCoder, I had just tried that before you posted. It used to show me the PCode, but now it says something like "back=previous, home=end", like useage instructions, but there's a black screen behind them with no data on it.
I hate this bloody phone now ;o)

You need previous version of KIES to do that though.

I was hoping Richtofen to convert it to a mid package to be safer

This is not available thru Kies.
Latest version is I9000BUJM4.
Need to check the key tomorrow.

it uses 803pit as js5 do, should have no problem

I'm on js5 with 512.pit, works fine.

I flashed my phone with ZSJPG, Ver 2.2.1
Very Very Smooth, No Lag, BenchMark=1100,1115,1125. Its better Than JPY. But same as JS5
Use Odin
Just select the PDA file, Do not check the Re-partation. Works perfectly.
Browser still have problem Squre box shows up while Zoom in & out.
Same Problem with JPY,JS3 & JS5

Use sgs kernel flasher, no odin and you can backup the kernel.

supported languages:
all languages from west to eastern europe (can't write down all)
Changes i see immediately from previously installed version XXLA2
Sizable fonts in message and contacts (very nice, now i can read without glasses ) )
Screen unlock with facial recognition (not tested yet but present)
Maybe some other minor improvement, must see better

With this firmware you can also:
- take screenshoot during videorecording
- end call with power button
same as value update.
I hope some more too, but actually for who want stay on a stock rom it's good.
This rom can be rooted (tested)

My country acually is listed unter the nordic country firmware, eventhough my phone does not show me the update.... Does anyone know the difference between those 2? Or does it even make a difference? (Pretty new here so sry if that is a dump question^^)

i came from LA2 version and i can't see difference with LMD in phone call, data 3G, Hsdpa or wifi.
Performance seem to be as before

It has a different size between XXLM8 and XXLMD. I just download the XXLMD by now. It is smaller than XXLM8. Did they get rid something? I wonder bout that. I plan to change my baseband from LM8 to LMD.

Hi all, this morning I've found my phone lying on the shelf with the update push notification...and yes, it finally got updated to XXLMG!! It's the latest Italian firmware, as sammobile states too :victory:
I confirm that is now possible to take pictures during a video, to adjust font size and to unlock with face. Also 3 new apps are now added by default (Google+, his Messenger and Play Books)
