WiFi turns off by itself

Got my sgs3 Sunday and when I got home turned on WiFi and started playing with it I notice that I lose network for a second after about 15 mins and my WiFi icon on the status bar disappear but network comes back on .. but in settings it is greyed out and I can't turn it off then back on till I reboot 0_o...thought maybe after I rooted and flash AOKP it would be fixed but no! I'm on T-Mobile and AOKP..so is it a bad WiFi driver or...? Any ideas?
#*0011# press the menu key. Select wifi. uncheck wifi power saver mode. Its should be green when on black off. Make sure its not on and done go back to home screen. Your phone should reboot the wifi driver and your done.
This method works for 4.0.4 any of the roms. Cm10 doesn't work. Cm9 haven't tried but I'm sure it'll work for u.
Hit the thanks if I've helped!

JB has these wifi issues I was expiriencing the same problems on cm10 as well. (I know not the same but both are jb) I decided to downgrade to the intrigue rom r3. It has smooth transitions. Real buttery and it let me access the wifi power saver mode by down ng the method above. I'll look into aokp and see if I can find a fix for u.

For anyone who has already turned off WiFi PSM, is anyone experiencing this setting turning itself back on? I have turned it off twice today and every so often it turns back on which ends up turning my WiFi back off...

Question: are you rebooting your phone when this happens?
Cuz if you are that's normal on every reboot you have to go back and turn it off again.

I was not rebooting the phone. I am currently trying a different rom to see if that solves anything.
Weird
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Well it still keeps happening. I switched from intrigue rom to freegs3. I'm currently using the phone at work and it happened right before my eyes while using Tapatalk... I had to turn off power saver mode yet again
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
would the method above work for me? since yesterday, my wifi kept turning on by itself. After I turned the wifi off for like a couple minutes then it'll turn on automatically again. I have the Keep Wifi on during sleep set as "only when plugged in" and it never happen to be before until yesterday. My power saving in the setting menu has always been off too. Please help! :crying::crying:
Install the app called "Wifi Fixer" app to the solve the issue.
Whatever Google did to cause a variety of wakelock problems, having a strong wifi signal seems to solve them. Apparently, wakelocks occur when there are unreliable connections to Google's servers.

Has anyone found a fix for their screen staying on?

I know its been reported with jelly bean that the screen is unable to turn off normally and you have to push the power button to turn it off. Currently the only fix I know of is a reboot. Anyone with any other tips??
Mine works fine, did you flash any mods or some kind of lock screen app?

Yes, I'm on Wicked Sensations v1.2 right now. But i've read that a few people have been having this issue with JB. I just started using XDA so I can't post on the OP yet so thats why I posted here. Was just hoping for some feedback and opinions. I have flashed a few mods on it, but none seem to be the problem...i dont think. haha
Settings > display > screen timeout..
Is it set to 10 minutes? Cause that would do it

Yeah that was the first setting I tried, changed it to 15 sec to see if it works and it still stayed awake
Thanks!

haha I got tired of guessing what 'could' be causing the problem so I did a clean wipe and flash and it hasn't happened since
Thanks

I thought that may be been the culprit but the setting was off
Thanks
I'm having the same problem
I am not rooted and running stock jelly bean (ota version that I installed early because I was too impatient for them to push it to my phone). I have noticed my screen randomly staying on, too. It's very annoying because sometimes I don't notice until my battery is dead. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but I'd love a permanent fix if anyone has any additional ideas! Thanks! I've tried all the obvious settings, but can't figure it out. Is there an app that can help me figure out what the culprit might be?
(And can I just say, an edit to a post ought not fall under the "wait five minute" rule for new posters. Just my two cents .)

Use an app called Stay Awake. Works great for me.

Alternative to Blocking Mode

I've had this Note 2 for less than a week and I've rooted and ROMed it using the latest Jedi X.
What I'm looking for is an alternative to Blocking Mode. The ONLY reason I don't like Blocking Mode is because of the persistent notification. With my Galaxy Nexus I set up a profile that would do essentially the same thing without the notification. Anyone have any ideas?
x2, a while back I put up a mod request for just this but nobody replied. The blocking mode in TW is excellent, much better than CM10 on my GN was, but the dumb icon is just ridiculous.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Blocking mode would be perfect if it didn't put up the notification when it was outside the hours I wanted it on. Thats my only issue with it.
Tonight I'll try a Tasker profile to do the same thing.

I've used this profile for something close to Blocking Mode. I just added the face down context so that in addition to time and power connected contexts i have to turn the phone face down to activate silent mode.

[Q] Lag going from Portrait to landscape

I have been having this issue since I got my Note 3 last week. It happens no matter what rom I am using.
My Note has a lag when going from portrtait to landscape when I turn the device. The lag is about 3 seconds and is very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue? Is it just the way it is or is there a adjustment in the settings I do not see? Like I said it happens no matter what rom I am running even stock.
Thank you very much.
Jeff
My stock rooted Note 3 does not have a lag switching. Might be you have some app that is causing the issue.
Yep, rooted stock on mine is maybe half a second.
Turn off the 'smart rotation' feature. I did this and it solved my issue.

Yup this would do it. Had the same happened to my s4 when I had it on. It checks to see your head orientation prior to changing.

[GUIDE] Fix/workaround for the airplane mode battery drain.

Hey folks, I've just posted this on reddit and I hope it can help people in my situation.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus5x/comments/4jwz43/guide_fixworkaround_for_the_airplane_mode_battery/
I always use tasker to put airplane mode (cause I use a widget)
I never faced this. But I use tasker + secure settings plugin and I turn off cell radio only so wifi can still on
I tell you this because could be another way to fix if anyone uses tasker already

Oh I have secure settings too. How do you turn off the radio with it? You edited the "airplane mode radios"?

So I had tested airplane mode with wifi on. That actually doesn't trigger the bug I'm talking about!

It doesn't. It's just pure battery drain without any signs of anything.
