Last night i received a mysterious OTA update notification on my R800i in the app update centre -showing system update available version 4.0.2.A.0.42 but i was already on stock rom with the same version of firmware even pc companion showed me the same update message..the only modification i have done with my stock rom was Root and Doom's kernel... That was the only reason that i received system update notification ???

Wrong section dude. Ask this again over in the Q&A section. Not sure if you noticed but this is the android development section, keyword DEVELOPMENT! What your asking is a question

wrong section!
But PC companion keeps doing the same thing to me when i plug my phone in. Offering me an update to the FW i already have.
Doomlord changed the Id string in his kernel so your phone still thinks an update is available.
remove update centre from system apps and you will no longer recieve update messages.

If its not in the firmware thread then no. You can try and use the other method changing the build.prop though. But its stated on the other thread you've posted on its irrelevant anyway, so just flash a generic Rom.

I sent mine to them on Friday, with the 1% patched firmware loaded.
They received it today, and the repair tracker said 'awaiting replacement' before being updated to 'dispatched' so you should be ok without official firmware.
how about 3 Hk firmware?

I'm new on this forum and I'm from India.. Recently I got one AT&T S3 i747 unlocked version for my dad and it's running with the 4.1.1 version..
While trying to update through OTA it shows there's no update and I would like to update to the 4.1.2 version...
Could someone tell me how to update to 4.1.2 manually and will there be any problem with the network since I'm from India.. Coz all the 4.1.2 roms in Samsung updates website are for Canada or US

anybody with a solution??
I found this here and it should help get you to 4.1.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388065 I believe you need to be already rooted with a custom recovery on 4.1.1 and then from there you can flash the .zip but factory wipe and backup before hand. I also don't think you need to download the modem from there just the 4.1.2 ROM

I apologize if this has been asked before.. I looked for it and couldn't find it.
I'm on 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on my S4, and I'm trying to get to the update containing "ALJ1" in the baseband version.
Question is, if I install the 370mb update being offered, will I fully update to the latest version, or will I update incrementally, as in updating to the next version, then needing to download and install the next update and so on?
Thanks.

You can receive OTA if you haven't modified your phone extensively. If you have any custom ROM installed it probably won't work.
Here's a thread made by one of the users, I haven't tried it but see if it works for you - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559829
