I noticed that the Print Option appears in a few areas (browser is one) on this phone but i don't see anywhere in the settings/options to set it up ? I click it and nothing happens...
I cant seem to find any information regarding this, anyone have a clue ?
Thanks,
Pete
It's for a number of Samsung wifi printers

Thank you very much, makes sense now
The way it works is when you have a Samsung printer hooked up with your wifi, when you hit print it should automatically search for it. Be sure your phone is hooked into the same access point.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
You also can use an app such as PrinterShare to print up to 20 pages free to a printer and computer running thier windows app. With the premium version you can print to your home printer from anywhere or via wifi and bluetooth unlimited.

I want to control my samsung galaxy nexus via my pc but I dont need display I just need to use the keyboard and mouse.
Let me tell you why....
I currently have a spare monitor and I have connected my Samsung galaxy Nexus to it via an MHL adaptor but I would like to use my pc mouse and keyboard to do stuff on it and then just change back to pc when I want.
Anyone know any tools to do this?
Thanks
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse is the best option.
Try free AirDroid which lets you use many features of your phone including texting and managing apps via your browser on a PC as long as you're on the same network.

I had been using Droid VNC Server in the past, however it doesn't seem to support ICS. knoxbrder seems to be very close to having a working version for the Galaxy Nexus, you can take a look at this thread for some details.
Once this is running, you can run vncviewer on a Linux system, or download RealVNC for Windows and access your phone when it's on your WiFi network.

LMAO Are you going to hook your microwave up to a monitor as well? How about your toilet? Maybe you can get to the point where everything you own from phone, to coffee maker, to wrist watch has its own monitor. Clearly you need to get out more brah
I've found the remotely controllable phone-to-TV connection very useful. My old TV didn't have Pandora support so I used to hook up my X to it so I could listen via my sound system speakers. I now have a Google TV with a Pandora client, but with a dumb monitor you can also throw in Netflix and Amazon video to turn it into a smart TV. Or just turn the phone into a mini-desktop, it's already just a pocket computer.
i have been pretty disapointed with android options in this department.
i had veency running like a charm on my iphone, but nothing for android. and most of the vnc/rdp programes in market are not what they claim to be.
Does the Gnex support Miracast with the latest 4.2 update? Obviously the Nexus 4 does, but Google stated 4.2 supports Miracast. Just wondering if this applies to the Gnex.
Check under wifi direct.
The quick settings toggle doesn't show the wifi direct icon, nor can I find it in the Wifi direct options.
In the quick settings, it shows the alarm clock icon.
Or maybe I'm looking it incorrectly in the wifi direct menu? (although I don't think so that's the case).
It does not support it from what I can see on This site.
That beeing said, I couldnt find the certificate for the Nexus 4 either (I don't know the model number for that phone though).
I did some skirmishing and apparently, this page: http://support.google.com/nexus/bin...ings_wifi&answer=2864005&rd=1#/answer/2864005 says that you can connect to TVs via the Wi-Fi Direct option.
Now, I'm TOTALLY confused!

I have a Samsung TV and can connect to it via Wi-Fi direct but beyond that I have no idea what to do. I tried to send YouTube videos, pictures, etc but there is no option to share and nothing else I could see in the settings. If anyone wants me to test anything let me know.

same here... I've a Samsung es8000
Have 64E8000 PDP and i can connect via Wi-Fi-Direct but after a few seconds the connection is broken!
Think Wi-Fi-Direct has nothing to do with Wi-Di/Miracast...
The Galaxy Nexus supports WiFi Direct. It does not support Miracast.

Ok so some background. I got the note 2 since release. Recently I had the sd card slot fail, so I brought it to AT&T to get replaced. When I got it home I was looking at the photos on my SD card and it had a new icon. I pressed it in curiousity and it displayed the photo on my tv. I never seen my old phone have this option. I tried it with a few others and thought it was a feature I didnt have on my old one. I decided to see if it worked on any other tv, so i went downstairs and the icon was gone. It was normally on the top right on the gallery while looking at photos near the share button. Back to my room, and the icon was gone. WTF was it that I was able to do but never replicate again?
The tv is a Panasonic plamsa tcp50st50. I didnt have any apps on my phone that connected to my tv. what is it that i did and how do i get it back>? It looked like the share button but a little different.
This is a pure guess on my part, but I was in the gallery and clicked on the share button, then clicked on show all, then clicked on Wi-Fi Direct. Although I don't have a Wi-Fi TV nearby when I return to the gallery the Wi-Fi Direct icon is to the right of the share icon. Hope that sheds some light and you keep us updated on what you find out.

If you had an xbox or other device connected to wifi it would allow you to send any pic or video to it.

It's the DLNA/AllShare. It only works with DLNA or AllShare devices. Make sure your TVs are turned on and connected to your network, the Note II is on Wifi, and open the gallery app, select a photo or video, tap menu, then Scan for nearby devices. Give it a few seconds, then you'll see the icon that looks like a TV or monitor with some lines on it. Tap that, and it will send the video or pic to the TV.
I've searched and haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have the Note 8 (wifi) and a GS4 (Sprint). Both come pre-installed with the 'HP Print Service Plugin'. In the GS4, if you click on the 'Print' option, in the browser for example, it will find Samsung and HP printers. However, if you do the same thing with the Note, you get the popup warning about how it will only print to Samsung printers. Why does it come pre-installed with the HP plugin if the Note won't even use it? Will this be fixed in an update? I also have an Acer A500 which uses Acer Print which can print to a whole mess of printers. I don't like the vendor lock-in here. I know you can use apps to do this, but then you have to use 'share' and not 'print'. Is it possible on a rooted device to remove the restriction to Samsung only printers so it will work like it does on the GS4? Or to install Acer Print on the Note? Much appreciated.
I have been successful using the Google Cloud Print app. I have used this with Xerox, HP, Brother printers...It works great.
anything that usually comes with the device is *crap* IMHO.
I personally use PrinterShare
Althought its not free... and there is that saying "you get what you paid for"
I can get PrinterShare and Google Cloud Print to work fine, but my point is that they install the HP plugin as a system app on the Note 8 and GS4, but don't let you use it on the Note 8? PrinterShare and Cloud Print work by using the share function which doesn't play nicely with https pages. I just want to know if there is a way to make the Note 8 'Print' function work like it does in the GS4... or the A500 using Acer Print for that matter.

I have a jet-direct enabled HP printer too. But both the HP app and kitkat printer service get stuck searching for the printer.
Did you have to do anything special to get it working?
I do not have any trouble printing from my windows laptop. Finds the printer on the network with no hiccups.
But both my nexus 7 and moto x cannot....
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't tried it with my phone, but my tablet worked without any issues. It was pretty simple. It scanned my network and just started working after that. If you need me to test anything shoot me a PM. Not sue what could be your issue unless its running on a different port.
Was this ever resolved? I'm having the exact same issue and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I called the manufacturer and they were no help! I have a Note 8 and an S4. Neither will print using the HP pluggin.
I have a photo smart printer that has print direct and jet direct print capabilities.
Home routers may pass through HP printer ports without configuring, but you may need to open some udp ports to get the print services up and running.
I also note old routers had no provisioning for wake up commands on wifi. My printer requires manual wake up before I can print. I installed both hp print apps, one being web print and the other document print. Both work just I will need to upgrade my router so I can print without manually waking up my printer.
Using a basic (non WiFi) printer which is connected via Google Cloud print doesn't work, the tablet printed from it once and never again, the tablet shows the printer but everything is faded gray (making it non clickable) the printer is an HP Deskjet F4180... Has anyone else run into this issue or might know a fix... Thanks!

If I am not mistaken with basic cloud print the computer it is attached to needs to be logged into Google ( probably even on the same account as your device).
Cloud print enabled printers should be available whenever they are on and connected to your wifi.
