How to backup Accounts, Blutooth Settings, and Wifi Access Points? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey All,
I've been meaning to ask this question for a while. I guess this can pretty much apply to any phone. I was wondering if there's a way to backup Accounts under "Accounts and Sync" as well as Wifi access points and any other miscellaneous settings. I tend to wipe and flash new ROMs periodically so this would be very useful because I have to re-add 2 Exchange accounts, Facebook, Twitter, etc every time. I've tried using Titanium backup for this and have been unsuccessful. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Titanium Backup does all of this for me. Can you be more specific about what problems you've had?

I basically need to know what System App to backup on Titanium backup to ensure that I don't need to re-enter my ActiveSync information every time. This applies to Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Wifi access points, Bluetooth parings, and everything else will sync when you sign in to Google.

I've flashed 100's of roms, and I have NEVER had BT, and wifi passwords sync automatically when I sign into google, and I always sign into google first then after flashing a rom...

Actually, come to think of it, no, I did have to manually re-add my Exchange ActiveSync connection. But everything else was automatic. WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. are all very clearly labeled in Titanium. And as for Twitter and Facebook, I just found backing up their apps, in addition to Accounts & Sync, and restoring all of that usually put them back. I'd just have to re-enter my password to re-authenticate them.

I agree with everyone else. Wifi, Bluetooth, etc do not autosync with Google. I think they used to sync for me when I had an HTC phone and would sync with HTC hub but not with Samsung.

on my old evo4g, when I would flash a new version on Cyanogen on it, my wifi password would somehow automatically work, even after a full wipe, but NEVER did my BT pairings automatically restore; that was always done manually....

as one said, get titanium back, it'll do it all
it will even back up homescreen widgets

I ment back up wifi access points, and bluetooth pairings with titanium backup. It works I do it all the time. Calendar, contacts and settings are backed up via Google.

The thing is that I've had issues backing up ALL on Titanium Backup. When I've backed up system apps in the past and restored the data, I would get constant popups and errors on my screen. I haven't done this on my ET4G but I did do this on my Evo. I guess I can give it a try on this phone to see if I encounter the same issues.

Yeah, on my Evo cyanogenmod, has a option to save all of that to your google log in. Never really thought about how it worked because it only ever worked with cyanogenmod.

How to backup All accounts on Android? including Wifi Access Points & Bluetooth ?
Hi guys, I know this is an old thread but I am still hoping to get your replies...:fingers-crossed:
I want to back up all the various accounts I have on the device. I have several google accounts. One main accounts which i don't mind putting in manually, to which everything on the phone is supposed to sync and some other google accounts that are secondary and that I use mostly for gmail purposes.
I am also using TB and never managed to restore all the additional google accounts, which is very frustrating. I have made sure to backup WIFI/ Bluetooth parings (that doesn't restore them) AND accounts. That doesn't help.
Further, I would like to backup all the other accounts that appear under the "Accounts" tab in the settings menu. The only time I managed to restore all those accounts was by restoring a full Nand backup and that I not something I want to do every time I flash my device.
So basically my questions boils down to how to backup the following: wifi APs& Passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and all the accounts on the phone.
I am using a One Plus 3 with OxygenOS
I've uploaded 3 screenshots to my Google Drive just to make sure:

Why did Titanium Backup not restore calendar appoints?

(All better now...weird...steps detailed below.)
Ok,
I have been searching xda and google for a bit now. I just finished my first ever root and nand unlock. I even did a titanium backup before completing the procedure and have a copy on both the sd and my pc.
So I get everything all booted up...but my calendar appoints are not there, my sms's are gone as is my call log. When I went through the list of things to backup on Titanium there were lots of things for SMS/MMS and calendar...I backed them all up.
I did a batch install, when those things weren't there I went back and manually loaded the data for all things that said calendar and sms.
Still nothing.
What did I do wrong? If I start to try ROMs I need to have all that stuff back...all my data. I thought that is what Titanium Backup did.
Please let me know if that stuff still in my backup somewhere...how do I get it...or how do I avoid this in future???
Ok...my call log came back...but still no sms history
Also...I had to restore all my contacts from the SD card...but now they have no pics associated with them.
OH...and internet bookmarks are back to default?!?! Where are mine? (never mind...there they are...didn't refresh right away)
I must have missed something somewhere.
Email accounts?? Not there.
Try rebooting a couple of times and everything should come back. Also if you were synced to google calender every thing just needs to be synced once more.
that is pretty weird, your calendar should be automatically backed up by Google. try going to calendar.google.com do your appointments show up there?
Ok...seems it takes a few more steps than I was aware of...
Last night I went through all the red apps in Titanium Backup and manually restored data from there, but still didn't see any changes and screens were at stock layout.
This morning I powered the phone off while getting ready for that one hour of charging while phone off. When I rebooted on way to work...VIOLA!!!...every screen set up was back.
(I had read that widgets/shortcuts didn't get replaced on screens.) All my widgets and shortcuts and screen set ups were exactly as I had saved them. Dang.
As mentioned above it seems that another reboot was needed. (Not sure if the manual data restores helped or were redundant.)
But...I still had no email accounts set up. So just now I decided to try once more after three other google results say that it is supposed to restore email. I manually restored data from Accounts, Accounts and Sync, and the two Mail widgets.
Now I have my Email accounts BACK!!! Great thing, but spoiled by amount of work to get it...(since only two accounts could have just entered them in less time.)
Been testing out apps since my root and unlock last night and everything seems fine...the email accounts even just synced on own.
Crisis averted...well until tonight when I do all this again to flash the rooted stock HTC to see how that goes. Then fingers crossed I'll get to CM6 when camera issues worked out.

I am one of those paranoid old skoolrs....anything I can keep out of the cloud I am going to. So my calendar is only on my phone...not synced with anything else.
That is why I hoped that Titanium Backup would have it covered...turns out it might have...all the entries I can think of are back this morning.

[Q] How to backup wifi passwords/settings with Titanium Backup?

All,
I've been going through Titanium Backup Pro list of apps and can't find what I need to do to backup/restore my Wifi settings when I switch out roms.
Also, if anyone knows, if I wanna backup the default email 4.1 app for exchange, do I just backup the email 4.1 and exchange 4.1 settings?
Thanks for any info!
You should NEVER back up default/system apps.
Your wifi settings are backed up to your Google account.
joshnichols189,
Understood, but during a Rom flash, I restore apps via Titanium backup and stopped restoring from Google Account.
I never restore system apps, but would like to restore Wifi Settings and Exchange email via the Email 4.1 app.

When you log into your Google account it restores your WiFi passwords. I don't think you can restore the exchange email via the email app as you shouldn't restore system app data either :/

its a green item listed as "[SMS/MMS/APN] Phone...".
If you make a label and tag that setting, you can make a schedule so you could back up your messages and APN settings weekly (or however often you would need to).
I finally found it listed as "Wi-Fi Access Points" in Titanium Backup Pro.
You don't even have to back up wifi in Titanium Backup.
My wifi access point and password, wallpaper, all restore from Google's server via their backup option.
Google never restore my wifi passwords.

Let's say you backup a ICS system app, then you restore it in a Jellybean rom, things could break.
OR
You backup a stock Phone.apk, then you restore it in a cyanogenmod 10 rom, It will not work for obvious reasons.
Titanium backup as wifi passoword erecovery with crDroidAndroid-7.1.1-20170203-i9300-v2.1 and other rom is crashing the wifi no way to activate just reinstall rom.

cloud storage backups

do any of you guys backup your backups to cloud storage? i started doing this after my first sdcard took a crap on me for some reason. lost all my titanium backups and nandroids. pics were already automatically synced to google+ via wifi. anywho, i dont care so much about nandroids anymore as much as i do my titanium backups.
i used to use foldersync to keep all my titanium backups synced onto my box.net account. but now that titanium backup has native support for google drive syncing, i've been using that. every night at 2am i have TiBa backup all new apps and newer versions; at 2:15 i have it backup apps with modified data which then syncs to google drive immediately afterwards. it's been working great so far. it only syncs new/modified files so i'm not constantly syncing every single file.
what do you guys use?
I'm overly paranoid so I make a Nandroid every couple weeks. I save one nandroid on internal sd and one on the sd card. I don't automate Titanium to back up to Google Drive but I just manually back up to Drive whenever I think about it (Maybe twice a week). I don't know why I don't automate Titanium to back up to Google Drive. Maybe I feel like I have to control it. Same reason I pay bills online but I do it manually instead of auto pay lol.

FolderSync also syncs new or modified files. So, you can continue to use FolderSync. It provides more control than TB's sync.

I don't think, TB's sync can be controlled based on connection type (WiFi/data/roaming) and battery level/charging.

You can use TB's encryption feature to gain confidence that your data is really secure in cloud.

Switched to CM10, can't restore contacts

Ok so I've made the jump to CM10 after running Calk's ROMs since GB 1.1, then ICS since 1.0..
For some reason, every time I wipe, I have issues with my contacts. The numbers disappear from Google, and all that syncs is about 500 useless email addresses of everyone I've ever sent an email to. I have always been able to get the numbers back by restoring the "Contact Storage" data on TiBu. But for some reason it isn't working now.
I have tried three different backups, from three different versions with no luck. The very first time I tried it (with Contacts 4.0.3), the numbers showed up, I immediately tried to sync it, and the phone crashed and rebooted. When it restarted it did the "Android is upgrading" routine, and when I looked again the list is back empty. Nothing actually synced back to Google either. The phone list shows zero. I have tried all combinations of restoring the backups, Data only, App+Data, App only then data only, I even tried restoring the other Contacts app+data/etc.
I did at one point (during a prior wipe) export a vcf, but it turns out that only contained the same list of email addresses and no numbers. I never checked it because I didn't need it - I was always able to restore from TiBu.
Anyone have any ideas?
Yes, start storing ur numbers in Google instead of your phone. No matter what is flashed ur contacts will go with you when you enter your Google account info during setup.

While Titanium backup has recently introduced a feature to backup to xml. I have been using Super Backup to backup and restore my contacts, messages and call logs since I clean wipe and flash roms up to twice a day testing things.
Backing up the data for a system application and restoring it to another version is a nono. If I understand it correctly that seems to be what your doing? You mentioned trying VCF i think that is the format that Super Backup uses for one of the three things.

It does work if you do it correctly....otherwise it wouldn't have been suggested. Anytime you store a number ur phone always asks if it should be stored in Google or you r phone....just pick Google and make sure your sync settings are correct. I have never lost a contact since my old HTC Hero days, thanks to that feature.

Well it was a good thought, but it did not work. Always made the backups, but never knew what you could do with them.. It still exhibits the same behavior - once it reboots it says 'contacts are updating', then all I get are the email addresses. I tried with several backups (BTW, any clue why two of the Nandroid folders are tagged Dec 31, 1999?) but it seems that it's a lost cause. Jellybean must have something different in the database than GB/ICS. I'm gonna have to hand key them all.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I don't recall ever being prompted with that choice at any time during a ROM setup, or even when I first got the phone. It might've had to do with the fact that all my contacts were originally sent by bluetooth from my old phone. But I do have it set to sync with my Google account, and I made sure it sync'd before any wipe, so why are the numbers not in Google?

Hand key them all as in you have lost the ability to restore these on the android rom you backed them up on? Go back export them and then flash CM10 again. Its a lot quicker than typing even a small contact list. Unless Super Backup doesn't work on this CM10 rom.

Haha with all the time I've spent effing with it already I could've hand keyed the whole thing several times over.
In order to go to CM10 from Calk's ICS, I had to ODIN back to EL26 and flash CM from there.. So basically in order to go back to Calk's ICS I have to ODIN back and then flash to ICS, right? And then after I do the restore (assuming it works) and sync, back to EL26 again then flash to CM? (If I do that, I'll probably go with CM9 for now because 10 is a bit too buggy to be my daily driver, plus it's missing bluetooth music/AVRCP which is a must for me)
And do you have any idea why I can't get the damn numbers to sync with Google? Like I said before, I have sync turned on and have manually done it countless times, but it wont keep the numbers.

Contacts - Backup & Restore

Ok then! this will sound like a newby question....I'm not really, I swear!!
So I have my lovely rooted Note 8 all set up the way I like it. It's pretty perfect.
During the data transfer from my old phone to new one using Samsung SmartSwitch, every thing went fine without a hitch.
I can no longer use the SmartSwitch app since my phone is rooted now....not changing that.
Somewhere in the process, my contacts got imported into Gmail app. Which I DO NOT want. I usually removing nearly all of Google's apps along with Verizon's as well as Samsung's...I have a policy of uninstalling what I don't want or need or think much of.
However, my contacts are now associated with the Gmail app - if I remove the app, the contacts disappear!!.
I would like to know what is the most current, up to date and trouble means of backing up my contacts, then deleting the Gmail app, then restoring the contacts? Would a Contacts backup and restore in Titanium Root do the trick? is there another, easier or better method?
Thanks for your assistance!
I haven't used it in a long, long time, but I think Mybackup Pro will save/restore contacts. Could take a look at it and see if that does it for you

1. open contacts app
2. go to Menu icon (upper-right).
3. go to Manage contacts.
4. go to Import/Export contacts.
5. export to SD
