Invalid package error - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running newtoroots supersonic XL beta 2,and I am getting an invalid package error when I download apps from the market. I am also having trouble installing back up apps from es file explorer.
Pretty much running the stock ROM, no themes or any other items flashed overtop. Any suggestions?

try 1) fixing permission in recovery and/or 2) installing the app then reinstalling it. i don't use es file explorer so can't help you there (i use titanium)

[Q] Parse Error

I recently began to encounter an error when attempting to install apps from my SD card while using programs such as root exporer or android home. I get this error when attempting to install any non market .apk using any file management program. I have no problem installing apps from the market. The error reads-
"Parse error
There is a problem parsing the package"
I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge as to how to solve this so I can install non market apps? So far everything I have tried has failed (wiping and reinstalling ROM and also trying different file management programs.
Yeah, I have this error too, and it's really starting to get annoying. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm running CM6 Final with it's stock kernel.
I have also been experiencing this error. i have an HD2 runnning a chuckydroid rom with FroyoStone with HTC Sense V2
I'm getting this error too on my HD2 with Hyperdroid & Enegy Leo rom
From my experience, the parse error only occurs with bad/incomplete downloads.

Have you tried running the fix_permissions script yet? Its included in most ROMs. I would try that along with clearing your cache & dalvik

has anyone tried making an update.zip to see if it will instal that way?
I had that error when it is an unlocker apk or an upgrade version of an app.

[Q] Insufficient Permission

I have a rooted Evo now running 3.30.651.3. I have Astro File manager. I've been able to flash ROMs and radios and all is good, except I have tried to access several files for things such as bluetooth and boot loader ".png" images. When I try to change the name of them or to replace them I am getting a "insufficient permission" message. If I am rooted and can do all the other things that require root, why can't I access these files.
Also, when I try to "Fix Permissions" from ROM Manger, I get "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged command!"
What's going on with this? Any help is appreciated.
same problem here. trying to rename camera file so i can di the camera tweak for galaxy sII.
so far i don't seem to be able to do that
Try Root Explorer from the market, just be sure to click the box for read/write and you should be good to go.

Thats because astro wasn't programmed to use root.

New Market STILL not able to install on CM 7.1

I've downloaded it numerous times, renamed it, tried on CM7 nightlies and I'm still unable to install it. I've tried Astro, file.manager, and es file explorer. It looks like its installing but then it says "application not installed". I've searched for an answer in these forums but no answer found. Anyone have a work around or fix that I am completely missing? Thanks.

Works for me. You might have to wait for update

try uninstalling original market first, that might work.

Issue installing apks

I get this error im on acornium 5.6 doomkernel 16
There is a issue praising this package? I did uninstall a file manager that acornium seemed to have any fix? If it is that can I have someone send Me the apk

Anyone?

A parsing error can occur if you try to install an apk for the wrong os version e.g. If you try to install the trebuchet ics launcher to a 2.x phone you'll get that error. But if it's only the file manager you've removed that shouldn't cause that. If you used titanium check all your system apps are there, or uninstall/re-install the apk.

a log will give us more info... then maybe we can help either that
or tell us what you tried to install so we can try it.

[Q] Can't install facebook app (Playstore error -24)

I reverted to rooted knox free stock firmware N7100XXUEML6 on my Note 2. I then had to re-root the rom using Dr. Ketan's Multitool.
Now, i have installed every app, but when it comes to installing facebook or viber, the playstore gives me error -24. I looked up forums and found that the problem would be solved if i deleted the app folder in /data/data. The folders i am supposed to delete are com.facebook.katana and com.facebook.orca.
But whenever i use root explorer to delete the folder, it fails to delete the folder. I have also tried using Aroma file manager in Dr. Ketan's multitool and the phone hung. I then tried terminal emulator using the delete command but it gives me an IO file error.
What am I missing? How do i get through it? Because a facbook-free phone is pissing me off!

Alright, i solved it finally... for those searching to do so, go to /data/data/folder you want, and rename it to something like com.backup.1.
This thing will allow u to install the application! Toodles!
