I just wanted to know hows LOS for you guys on EG31?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
LoS is worse for me on EG31 than EG30. I can't get 4G to work ever since the first time I experienced LoS no matter what modem I use.
*Just read the thread about 4G not working in Boston, which is where I happened to be visiting this weekend. So LoS and my 4G issues seem to be unrelated.

Thanks, I'll test out 4G when I fly through Atlanta, and try that fix if I need to.
*Update:
It was Boston. When I got to Atlanta 4G worked fine.

Just to add you don't need to use su like those instructions state. You can get your msl code without root.

LoS on EG31 is the same as it was for me on EG30. ~Once a day.
minor improvements but nothing to brag about. 4G works fine.. 3G speed crappy as before anywhere from 50 to 150KB/s ...
Hmm, that sucks that its the same week thanks for the help

I am right that if you flash EG31 you cannot go back to EG30. I know there is EG12\30 but it is not the same as EG30 that came with the phone right?

The EG12/EG30 is the exact same thing that came with the phone.
All you have to do is flash it in Odin, I've went back and forth between them twice already.

You need to update profile after EG31 and then reboot
I haven't had a single LoS since going to EG31. Even using other kernels. Use to get LoS on EG30 with any other kernel other than stock.
P.S. watch me get a LoS now lol

so I'm getting los A LOT now.. anyone know if there was something that changed?
I didnt get it too much with the LOS checker viperboy, but after flashing to the LOSD it goes crazy with LOS, and I'm getting maybe 5-10 reboots a day..
I uninstalled LOSD and still getting a bunch of LOS..
running
2.3.4
eg31
2.6.35.14 rouge et 1.1.3+
gingerbread.eg30
Upgrade your radio (modem)
Try running a stock kernel for while. A lot of folks have reported this helps with LOS.

Use either stock ek02 kernel with cwm and ek02 modem or use el13 kernel with cwm and el13 radio.

If you still suffer EXTREME los then maybe take your phone back and have it replaced.
I noticed this issue with LOSD as well. I'm currently on EK02 modem with an EL13 system and honestly when I did the reinstall I didn't bother to put in the LOSD addon and I've had ZERO LOS for 2 weeks now. And for where I'm currently at (Mi with some very bad areas with really poor signal) I would of figured I'd hit LOS but I've yet to even see it. I'd remove the LOSD script and try running without it and see how things go. So far it's worked for me very well.
is it supposed to take a long time to flash the modem? for EL13..
It took me a little while flashing the entire package (around 5 to 10 minutes).
I believe some early versions of LosD were giving false positives. You can use "No Signal Alert" from the Market. It will give you an audible beep if you get a LOS and when it reconnects

I got it today as well.. after I flashed it, had los twice while underground..
Never once.
Are you using the EL13 baseband?
Also, What kernel?
Yup, using Calkulin's stock with chris4g's repack and EL13 modem. Maybe it was just a fluke, I was at my parents house which is in a decent service area, pulled out my phone to see the circle with the cross through it. Had to reboot to get service back. Eh, I'll just keep an eye on it.

I haven't had LOS since. I'm on EL26 now, and signal is stronger now.
Still LOSing here... I've tried EG30, 31, Ek02, EL13, and EL26. I get LOS on every one as soon as I go to work. The signal there is very week and the phone has to work hard to maintain a signal all day.

Sounds like it is a network dead spot and not related to the phone.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
There is another topic we were discussing this issue. Basically the problem isn't fixed but they are attempting to tweak it so instances of LOS are getting smaller and smaller. Sounds like becuase of the location you are having a higher probability of tower disconnect or switching to roam which increases the likelyhood of you experiencing a LOS.
Yes, EL13 still suffers from LOS (aka it is not really fixed). Personally I haven't had one in EL26 (had a couple in EL13) but if you are experiencing it in EL26 then it isn't fixed there either.
I absolutely LOVE everything about this phone EXCEPT the LOS issues!!
I've only had it for 5 days now and experienced 3 LOS!
Since I'm still within 14 days, should I return it? thinking of getting the Photon instead.
From personal experience I'd say hang on to it and try flashing some of the newer releases to see if it doesn't improve the LOS issue.

I know you are asking because apparently you need the help of others to make up your mind... (sorry I am a smartass) But quick question what rom are you on cuz buddy LOS is a thing of the past up in herrrre... And that PHoton are you serious would you trade in your S clase Benz for a C Class Benz....
Root that sucka and flashing one of the stock EL29 roms or do the upgrage on your phone for the complete stock version... Oh yea and if you gonna ask where the roms are then maybe you should return your phone...LOL (smartass again)
exactly, flash something different (I'd recommend calks) and that issue goes away :O
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Doesn't even need to flash roms, root, and all that. Just OTA to EL29 and it should get rid of the issue.
Hey playya like the benz analogy, I was thinkin the same thing about the photon swap.
Yea update your phone dawg LoS was fixed officially in december

I think almost everyone on this forum experienced frequent LOS until Sprint issued a firmware update that fixed it. I haven't experienced LOS since and it would happen to me several times a day. Update your firmware and you should see this go away. (my recommendation is to go with Calk's non-ICS firmware since it's probably the most stable at the moment)

Sounds like you need to get your phone replaced. The loss of service was fixed with ek02. el29 was the update after ek02 and it's the most recent update. You shouldn't be having any problems.
And you're flat out insane if you step down to a photon.

I'd definitely suggest Call's E4GT rom its one of the better ones out there, i havent had any issues with LoS but i did just get my phone in december. But for sure keep this phone !
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yea, I would try flashing Calk's EL29. It should solve the LOS issues while improving the phone in mutliple other areas as well.
If that doesn't work, just take ot back to Sprint and replace it with another one. I would highly recommend staying with this phone though, not the Photon.

I was initially going to flash to Calks ROM anyway but this phone was pretty awesome out of the box until the LOS issue.
I think it's safe to say Im keeping this phone since there seems to be a fix for LOS

Exactly my thought... OP, as you are on EL29 you should not be experiencing LOS. Are you sure what you are experiencing is actually LOS, and not just poor Sprint service?
I'm not an expert flasher but the devs here have made it so simple I've been able to play around with several of the ICS releases but I always return to sfhub's stock-rooted EL29 and get amazing performance out of it.

Its odd....at home, fe10 is my best bet. When I was in Hawaii earlier in the week, ff11 worked great. Choose one and use apps like open signal and GPS status to test what results work for you. Both free from the market.

EL29 seem to work fine in the east coast. Lets hope they release ICS before june is over
somebody just needs to make a poll so people can see who and how many are using what modem. Then underneath the poll educate people by saying, " experiences may vary". That way at least people could get a baseline and see which ones are popular.
Ek02 works well for me. Stronger wifi at least than ff11.

This works best for me as well.
This is a thread to discuss the FG20 build for the Boost Mobile version for our phone.
As to my knowledge there are no issues running it on our Epic 4G Touch without of course a simple APN fix to get MMS.
What we've noticed is that its a more polished version of FF18 and what we should have essentially gotten for our phone.
I would like to know your experiences on FG20 and how it's running for you.
And note any bugs you notice please!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Everything seems fine, some (but fewer than FF18) apps FC on me. The multitask bug is still there, I haven't tested if the exchange bug is still there. Battery life seems a bit sketchy, but better than FF18's. This is near 92-95% percent of what our ICS update should have been in the first place.

I not sure to try the full ROM because I only flash the modem and can't even make a good call 95% of calls drop on me and the people I tell to call me they all went directly to my Voice mail.
Maybe I should try full ROM but dunno.
Edit: I just notice a few hours ago service get a Lil better, I will try again maybe was Sprint Service problems.

Hello, I tried the FG20 rom and noticed that there was no Roaming option in the settings, so I did a quick search for Boost mobile roaming and found that BST doesn't allow roaming. So for now, it's back to the somewhat unreliable (WiFi) FF18

I'm not sure what you're questioning, but I'll try to be more specific. After trying the FG20 ROM/Modem and realizing that it had no roaming option, I first reverted to a backup of FF18 ROM, keeping the FG20 Modem. But FF18 has an annoying WiFi issue where it often disconnects while in sleep mode. So I then restored old reliable a.k.a Blazer 4.1 ROM which doesn't have any issues whatsoever, or at least any that bothered me. The modem itself, whether EL29, FF18 or FG20, all performed about the same regardless of ROM type, so as of yet, there is no reason to go back to an earlier version than FG20.
Bottom line, when I mentioned WiFi issues, they had nothing to do with modems..... I think.
I am still trying to figure out what makes these builds so different.

I'm running this but I'm also on boost. Find it to be an improvement over the last few ics leaks. Using agat's latest release 4 which I loaded thru Odin since mobile Odin doesn't recognize the device anymore. All in all pretty smooth with good battery.
