Seriously why does my phone do this!? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Some times when I reboot my phone my battery drops any where from 10-70% this happens on all rooms and all kernels. Is it just miss reading after reboot and I still have the amount of battery I had before I rebooted? Our does it actually get drained that much?

I don't want some one to say that after rebooting that its showing the actual correct battery % because that's total crap. If I had not restarted my phone it would not have had this battery drop our lost battery fast. My battery always steadily drains. The other thing is it seems like when my battery drops the remaining % of battery drains way slower of a speed. probably cause there is more battery than it is showing I so frustrated its nuts please any one and every one help me out. I need to solve this! Tia!

Maybe an overclocking kernel that you are running cause this. Sometimes this happens to me too, what i do is, i connecte my charger to the phone then reboot. Either it shows a higher % or stay the same.

To me, I think it is a miss read, on my Epic I would get the same results and I would be like what the heck? Lets say I was at 80 then I rebooted and it went down to 15 I rebooted again and it would back up to 70, so I try not to reboot as often cause if it goes down alot after reboot I might be SOL without a cord near by to bring me back up to life.
I also have done all the calibrate stuff on the battery, but every once in a while after a reboot I get the hard drop on %.

I'm definitely going to give this a shot. You both mentioned having a charger near by and it can't hurt. thanks guys!

Your battery stats need to be wiped.
HERE is a post with a easy way to do so. If you read the entire thread I wouldnt do as the OP did and flash EG12 Modem! Most users on EG12 have issues with calls not coming through while screen is off on the device, unless it is plugged into charger. Device does not "sleep" while plugged in therefor calls come through like normal.

[Q] Sleep of Death with Stock

So I read about other people having this problem with custom ROMs or rooted phones but I am on unrooted stock after OTA. I thought was one of the 60 or whatever apps I bought during the 10 cent promotion but I uninstalled them all and I still had the problem. It's not frequent but it's happened 3 times in the last couple of weeks. It's mildly annoying to have to pull the battery but the part that I can't live with is that whenever it this happens, my battery drains like crazy. The battery usage drops off a cliff and I caught this one after no more than 5 minutes. Any thoughts on this? I don't have an SD card so it's not that. Thanks!

to find the rogue app use betterbatterystats and cpu spy. not sure if they superuser. also badass battery works too.
Mine did this the other night on Calk's ROM. Something got stuck keeping the phone awake causing that cliff like drop off.
Happened to me on stock once, installed some game but didn't play it so I don't think that was the reason. It was either the default browser or the contact list.
Thanks for the replies. I figured it was an app but wanted to be sure before I started deleting things. I was just worried that this might be something to do with hardware or something.
I have same problem with different roms and i don't know what to do...

I had the same problem I figured out it was my wifi being turned on all the time. I have always heard leaving your wifi on when it's availible was supposed to save battery but I checked in better battery stats and saw there was almost 7000 wakelocks in a 5 hour period. I turned wifi off problem solved I only turn it on when I need to.
It is happend even wifi is off.

Your battery might be going bad... take it out and spin it on a flat surface if it spins freely the battery is most likely done.

Battery jumping

Good day everyone, I've been using CM9 for awhile now and its been an awesome ride so far. Everythings been working almost perfectly. Recently, my batteries(stock one) percentage level's been Jumping up and down...a lot. For instance, I woke up to it (while off) having 100% on the indicator, turned it on, and it dropped to 51%, re-booted it to see if that'd help but it dropped again to 12%. This kindof things been happening for awhile and still with Alpha 2. Should I just get a replacement from sprint? Or is there a workaround.
Also, Music's apparently been taking up to as much as 40% of my battery usage even though If don't even have it activated at the moment. I've tried deleting the apk but it appears com.android..., I may just be being a noob, but any help?

Jump" is typical when you don't power off completely and then power back on no work around other than turn it off leave the battery out for like 3 or 4 minutes and power it back up

Have you tried calibrating ur battery? Give that a try and see if that doesn't stop it completely.

Apparently calibrating the battery according to some Android Engineer does nothing. The percentage you have left is directly related to the voltage of the battery. So if you are at 3.95 volts, that roughly corresponds to 50% with a range of 3.7 to 4.2 Volts on the battery. What the OP saw is the bbb...battery boot bug. If you are rebooting and you are lower than 70% do it while plugged into something. If it does happen as Biggie stated, simply remove the battery for a couple of minutes and reboot. It is a false report to the phone.
This has almost always been a issue for me when I flash anything new. It stays that way for until I deplete the battery, connect and leave connected til 100%, deplete the battery and follow the same process for about 3 full cycles and then all is well! Leaving battery out for a breather sometimes helps but I installed an app that has a widget and it keeps the regulating kinda monitered so I can be a little more at ease. Will post directly after this. But I also noticed that there have been times when the readout was a very low battery red [but I knew couldn't be true] and after I put it in airplane mode and didn't bother it for 5-10 minutes when I looked back again, battery would be yellow almost back to showing good and my battery stats show the levels increased. I think cm9 can't handle too much at one time anyways
Edit: that app I think is called battery info. Its pretty simple =) hope it helps! L8rz
Edit2: that app is listed in market as battery widget not battery info

Is anyone else's battery on crack?

Usually I can go a full 16 hour work day without needing an extra charge, then last week it started not holding the charge so well. In fact Tuesday it had 30% and I left the house for half an hour, and when I came back the phone had shut off and was at 0. I hadn't even touched it. I am on a mix of Wi-Fi and LTE. Anyway, that was odd. Now look at the battery usage...

My android system has been going crazy the last week or so, usually would be at 5% our do but lately has been 40+ easy... been to lazy to wipe and re flash as I'm sure that will fix the issue, but lately I've been near power all the time so it hasn't really bothered me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I flashed with Highonandroid and got 30+ hours. Probably could have gotten double if I didn't kill half of it installing all my apps back on.
What rom are you using?
On the stock image I was only getting 9 hours.

if you are not using a phone, turn it off and the battery will hold charge for many, many days.

[Q] My phones battery life isnt being displayed correctly?

Im not really sure why, but my phone has been acting very strange for the past week. If I restart my phone it displays a different battery percentage than it was before. For example, I charged my phone up to 100%. Then when I restarted the phone, it was at 81%. I'm not really sure how to go about fixing this. I cant re-calibrate my battery because it will randomly restart and then have 5% battery left, then continue in a cycle of turning on and then restarting. Is my battery itself the issue? Or should I try completely resetting my phone by going back to the factory kmz file? I tried switching roms and I still had the same issue.
Heres an example of the ridiculous jumps in battery life after a re-boot.

Before you buy a new battery I would recommend using the tot over the kdz. If it still has problems pick a day you don't absolutely need your phone and let it boot loop until it completely drains the battery then fully charge it before you turn it on. Fully draining the battery is bad for it but if you might need to get a new one anyway its not a issue.

Battery is draining without any major use

Hi
My cell battery is draining very fast. After full charge its not holding more than 6 hr.
Attached images. It says most battery is taken by system or Android don't know why.

I am in the same boat. I pretty much have disabled everything I can think of and have started carrying around a battery pack because of this. I pretty much have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day. I use my phone primarily for texting and listening to audiobooks. every once in a while I will watch some youtube but not that much.
That's why I had to give mine up for the Nexus 6p the battery life was getting ridiculous even with the fast charging barely helped the situation.
Weird. My battery lasts most of the day with moderate to heavy use. I disabled almost everything that I could in application manager.

that is more worrisome, phone is getting heated and sometime fast charging does not work, should I do factory reset and give another try. Just do not want to rely on factory reset every time I have issue.

For me the fast charging worked for about a week, and then the default samsung cable stopped charging quickly. Once I changed the cable the actual charger worked no problem but still it is annoying how fast this battery drains.

same here! I really regret buying this phone, seems impossible to get root on it, no custom rom, and the battery drains crazy! when I walk my dog & just put the phone in my pocket it's getting so damn hot without even use it!!
