Extended toggles for your Epic Touch 4G
Decided to bring these back in a flashable zip. 14 toggles. Controls built into Settings>Display. Completely stock other than this mod. Enjoy.
Download [EK02]
No 4G toggle, working on a re-write when time permits.
Huge thanks to lidroid.
Nice!! Anyway to incorporate the wide app drawer and 5 icon launcher dock? I would love to incorporate this into my Calk 1.5a running on my phone right now. Appreciate the support
So what roms will this work on?

Different beast. I think there are already a few TouchWiz launcher mods that incorporate this. However, I will look into it cause it interests me as well and it's much more fun doing it yourself =P
Hmmm....it does sound interesting. What files in those are actually changed? Is it swappable like theming is? I hate to trouble you for a zip if i can crack open my own files and just make the changes etc.

Files in this mod? The three attached are all changed. I can try to get a zip up later. You can use an app such as root explorer as well, if you don't know adb, to put these in their place.

Cool.. then I will wait for you to do the smali edits
as in i don't think every file in those are being modified so i was wondering if i could use a program like ninjamorph to open up those files and swap out applicable files. That is the extent of my "development" knowledge and its trivial, but less work to burden a dev with. Plus if its something "basic" like that, then no need to wait for theme's to incorporate the changes as i can do all that in one shot myself as the new stuff drops etc.
Basically i want to know if i can frankenstein this mod into my current ROM on my own or is it above my skill set haha

Well the only way to do that would to bring over the classes which would cancel any java mods anyway. You could try dragging your theme over to systemUI, I can't guarantee it will work perfectly though. Worth a try
Updated OP with a 1x/3g compatible systemui
No worries, i am sure this will be incorporated across the board pretty soon anyways, just wanted to get bleeding edge. I sent Calk a PM to see if he had seen it, but patience is a virtue. Thanks again!

Man, this mod works great. Even fixed the stock volume toggle being slightly lowered after changing lcd density. Is there a chance you can change the lockscreen toggle to actually lock the device and turn off the screen(or I guess make a separate toggle)?

Just put the files on your SD card. Hold down the file > Copy, then go to the directories stated in OP, Hit the Mount R/W button, and paste. And then reboot
So, does this add toggles in addition to the stock ones? Will my 4G toggle and the other stock ones remain after these are added? Thanks.

no but they have gifs in the thread I linked in the OP. They are said to work with Desire and Evo series phones, and for function on non HTC phones all thats needed is some filename switching (from the little that i read)
This would be really awesome if someone could get these ported over.
Doesn't seem too hard. I will take a crack at it in a bit.
tried it with this beta theme i flashed but it didn't work. Not sure why. Maybe the drawable xlms need to be modified?
Looks really cool, gl to anyone who tries to get this done Would be awesome for sure.
Its just a copy and paste with probably some renaming of the images..... doesn't seem hard to incorporate at all.... I could do it but I don't know how to make a flashable zip but I could just move it to a aosp theme

I tried it. I didn't bother checking every single file name to see if they match but they all look familiar to me. you can google how to create flashable zip. I just used a theme and replaced all the icons but like i stated, it didnt work. I have swapped out icons many times before so I am sure the file names had variation.
Well did any icons copy over to the theme and flash right? That's what I do is just tweak the icons in the Res folders of the framework apks in themes and roms..... it must be conflicting names like you said.... ill take a look at it here soon and see what it is.... ^_^
Ok, I know there are a lot of threads with TW4.5 themes in the international GSII forums but I haven't been able to get any of them to work on our version...I was wondering if anybody had a link to something that has worked or the desire to port some of them.
I love this launcher, it's still got all of the functionality of stock TW but some cool features..so I'm trying to avoid going back to golauncher or LP to get a full theme...Really I just want to get rid of the darn Touchwiz icons in the dock, but one of the only things TW4.5 doesn't let you do is choose custom Icons. I'm not sure about the launcher.apk he linked, but for me all I did was install the manager.apk file and then find it in your app drawer "TW4 Manager", open then look under "check for updates & uninstall" then click latest stable version to get the newest one they have for release. Then you have to get to the launcher through the traditional channels (press home soft key, then if you're using a 3rd party launcher it will tell you to clear defaults (found in applications -> manage applications in main settings menu), or if using stock TW I believe it will just open up the typical window when there are multiple programs to complete the command, then click on the one you want)

Yeah, it's not perfect...but ultimately I'm surprised it's as good as it is considering the other options (LP, Go, ADW, etc.) that are probably a team of people doing full-time dev. I switched back to Golauncher EX because it's what I'm comfortable and it just used the screen better...smaller dock icons and better customization. I would love to keep some of the TW features though, and if there comes some nice themes for TW4.5 I'll be back.

Are you using Starburst Rom? If so, you may need to define which app is supposed to be opened with that button. If you are on starburst, go to menu, settings, lockscreen settings (at very bottom), overall ui settings, then click "long press search button app" and choose what you want to happen. Hope that's all that's wrong...I never had any unusual fc's on tw4.5 while I was using it.

Sorry about not responding sooner...been focused on the development threads and completely forgot about my own
I'm using LoStKernel Experimental and it has worked pretty well. I've been without a Loss of service since it's been installed (KNOCK ON WOOD). It's pretty quick and from what I can tell it does allow for overclocking. I'm not sure on this...but my SetCPU app says my phone has been at 1.4 GHz for a good amount of time and it must allow under clocking because it says I've been at 500 GHz for most of the time (that's my "screen off" setting).
Ultimately the under/over clocking would appeal to you for both speed & battery life. Stability might suffer a bit from this kind of thing BUT I haven't experienced any stability issues with the LoStKernel exp....that's not to say you won't because each piece of hardware is different and each persons app load and usage is completely different.
I have used the stock kernel, Zedo's 1.6 OC'd kernel, and most recently the LoStKernel, just for info.
Hope this helps!
PS - I switched to GoLauncher because I couldn't get themes to work either...so, yeah, I would suppose this thread is dead for the time being - but feel free to ask any other questions you might have for me & I'll try to get to 'em sooner. Subscribed now, so I'll notice.

Is there a an app to change the default system sounds in Android ive looked around and I've only seen apps that allow you to change ringtones or notifications I want for example to be able to change the low battery notification sound to some guy yelling charge it!
Thank you
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
There's no app because it's different across phones...I'm sure one if the devs (like @rompnit or @freeza) knows where/which file it is that gets played on low battery, and you could then just go in and replace it with your own file
The files for sounds are in system/media/audio/ui. I use root explorer, read/write enabled. You're file needs to be a .ogg audio file. Then find the file you want to replace and rename the new one to match that, and just copy/paste to overwrite it. I do it every time I flash a new rom because the "bubble" sound for 'screen touch' sounds annoys me.

Decompile, recompile, then take the original and delete the res, resources.arsc, and classes.dex files and move those over from the new APK you compiled (open both with something like 7zip)
You need to do this to preserve the system signature...otherwise you'll get bootloops or FCs

erikalin - stock app
No more longing for stock apps that the ROM developer removed as bloatware but you really love...
No more explaining to users how to pull a file out of that stock ROM and push to system...
No more needing to include those extra stock apps you really would rather not keep in your ROM...
One person's bloatware is another person's beloved Yahoo stock widget...
This is a lightweight app that has a simple UI in which users can go get whatever stock apps they want to download from my repo and push back into the custom ROM they are running. The app also has a Help tab that leads to a noob-friendly video help file 2:30 minutes long, which demonstrates how to download any stock ROM apk file from the repo and push it to system/app/, set permissions, and reboot.
INCLUDING THIS APP IN YOUR ROM BUILD
Permission is given for anyone to include this app in a ROM. You do not need to ask me in advance; just let me know. Here is how to do that. If you include this app in a ROM please do two things for me in return: (1) Post a link to your ROM here on my app thread to say you have included this app, and (2) Post a link to this thread in your OP with other credits.
Please keep in mind that I cannot provide support other than for the functionality of this app: a stock file repo and basic instructions for how to push apps into the system partition. People should continue to post ROM questions on the appropriate thread for that ROM.
Do not link directly to my file repo or my youtube video that is attached to this app. You can use this app, but please do not use the pieces I have hosted and created for this app. If my traffic log indicates that this is happening, I will have to take the files down.
Keep in mind that I do not monetize on youtube, so view counts mean nothing to me. And I am hosting all files for your use without any ad support. "Click through to the thanks button" is appreciated.

If viewing in the XDA mobile app, tap once on image and then pinch to zoom.
If viewing in mobile browser, tap once, then once more on the viewer, to pinch to zoom.
If viewing on a PC, click the thumbnail, then click on it again to open in a separate tab to zoom in.
If viewing on a mac, I don't know you, and you paid too much for your system.
Say what :what: very nice.....this will help alot of people.....nicely done :thumbup:

Hey bud, ROM is not released yet. This is just an app I made to put into build-a-rom when I release, but I am sharing the app because if people check it out, they'll probably realize they want to bake it into their ROMs as well. Your feedback helped - made me realize that I needed to do this for what I'm putting together. Also, when I do release build-a-rom, you'll be able to keep your data and flash over the test build.

If you guys would want to include this app in your next deodexed ROM versions, go ahead and use it. Just give a link to this thread. I did theme this according to my own project, with the neon green on black. If you want, I can make a few versions themed to your colors. Specifically, where you see green on black in the app's landing page as well as the icon, I can make that whatever on whatever. Black on buttons and app icon could be transparent, but I do like my main background image in the app - it's a darkened screenshot from stock GB7 TW homescreen. Subtle, but pleasing because of the function of the app... but the neon green-on-black color scheme I could change for you easily enough. If you would like this, let me know your hex codes.
I'm going to wait to see whether I get some feedback to help decide if I should make a revision or if it's good out of the box. Fifty downloads so far, which surprises me for a little app on this thread. Either way, I can make a few versions themed for you... we are small in number in the ghostly E4GT forums... And seriously, I've got this handset for another year. If you do not want to include it or don't like it - no offense - just offering/sharing.
Who's gonna be first? Just kidding, looks good.
Edit: Really liking this, great job. Simple and useful at it's best.
Nice no more needle in a haystack search we like simplicity!!!
Very cool. It should be noted somehow that preload files will have to be dropped into system/app to prevent confusion because they will not run by themselves without a symlink. Two very nice apps in one day. This one and the repository app.

This can do so much more. You could host a ton of mods and other stuff with this thing too.

Lol. Kidding aside, I don't think I've ever done that in my life. Any job worth doing is worth doing well. I've been playing around with my build-a-rom project, which this is a part of. I hope to hear more feedback on this, make it better. Td - I will clarify the don't copy to preload thing. Good reminder which I will emphasize in v2, tyvm.

It's all good, lol, but you are correct. Erika Lin = "erikalin"
Anyway...
Today in between doing my real work I've also been thinking about how to improve this thing. 90 downloads in one day? Of my little app? In our quiet little forum? I'm glad people are checking it out, so I'll do right by it. I have some initial ideas:
(1) Theme in a few different colors, build them and name them by color scheme. I'd be theming the font color, buttons, and the app icon's colors. Like I said, I do like my app background image so that's staying. Darkened screenshot of stock JB, it makes sense. If anyone says there's interest, I'll make a few different color schemes for v.2. Give hex #s if you want. Honestly, I'm not at a loss for how to spend my time, so if there's no interest I'm fine with my just using original color scheme.
(2) Make sure to clarify push apps to system/app/. Thanks again, td, for reminding. I'll reword the main activity page's description and it will be clear.
(3) Verify that bluehost.com really means unlimited storage and bandwidth for my hosting accounts. I do have several websites on that account, and since I'm now using one of my extras for putting E4GT files on... I can't let it put my regular websites at risk. I will investigate though. If I can host more stuff legitimately with my account, I will consider suggestions for how I might add to this app. I am no expert in java, but can probably handle tabbed navigation, or swipe screens, to different purposes. I will think about this, and consider ideas. The beauty of it is that it will add almost nothing to the weight of the app itself, because all resources are accessed via browser, youtube, whatever. To be clear, I do not want to recreate bilgerryan's fine work with the one stop shop. That's not happening. If I expand on this it will be within parameters... Might just fine tune and keep it the simple app I intended it to be too.
(4) Who is downloading this thing? Lol. You 90+ people, please give me quick feedback. :good:
Edit: I just saw this:

Sorry shipmate. I could not hold back any longer. Sorry Now I need to play around with this some more. Some fine tunning. I am toying with trying the toolbox app. Would this work with "JV"?

You're playing around with the test build of my ROM, and putting in the apps that you want. Just my app here? It works for any deodexed stock GB27 TW ROM, of which JV is one. The app is essentially a file repo - all the stock ROM apps. You like the inverted and themed apps, so you probably wouldn't need this app of mine. It's just a way to get stock apps that are missing from any one custom ROM, without a developer having to keep a bunch of the stock apps in the ROM. Win win. I might add to this app somewhat, or I might make a second app with other ideas, both apps being made primarily for my build-a-rom project.
ROM Toolbox ("RTB") is, I think, one of the most valuable apps out there. It's good to use with any ROM and has a lot of useful features.
This Is A Request For A Multi DPi MOD
Request Please. I like using Custom DPI whenever i flash A New Rom but the SecPhone, SecContacts and Gallery doesn't always look right.
SO If someone could please create a Multi DPI or 360 DPI hack of of these three system Apps i'd really appreciate it or If someone could give me a walkthrough otherwise i'd appreciate it as well.
If this is in the wrong thread ,Please MOVE, not DELETE

There's an app for that. In the Xposed family there's a mod called "Per App DPI". Would that be what you're looking for?

I am actually very familiar with that but what I mean is that If I have a 360 Dpi, I want Dialer, Contacts and Gallery as well to be on 360 dpi not 480. Per App DPI gives me the option to scale it down, but it doesn't look right at all, because though the apk dpi changes, the framework-res doesn't change at all...
Thanks for the reply.

You are right.
However, it has nothing to do with the framework-res lol. It is the apk itself. (Ie gallery, Contacts etc) i am trying to figure out the camera one, I am not sure but i think it might be a layout inflater which should be relatively easy to fix. just gotta find the xml files. however it may also be programmatically added.

Yeah I said that backwards lol..So are you familiar with this, I have done some research and foind some helpful files here on XDA, i have gone adead and downloaded Java, the SDk android tools, apk tool, and pretty much everything necessary to decompile the apk and rebuild. The only thing I need now is a guid or a how to and I'm set to go. Well, that and some time as well. lol.

Im very familiar with decompiling stuff. However, i usually prefer to stick to source code edits via smali. I dislike themeing or anything in that ball park.
By "finding some helpful files" have you figured out what needs to be edited? And you can use my GUI APK Tool to decompile things and recompile them without a command reference.

Yeah not really into themes myself.. I found some help on some websites, but they didn't relate to the s4, it was mostbly about the s4 and galaxy ace or something of that sort. Lol. I'm still looking into it and if I do ever get it, I will release it for public use, because I know that a lot of people don't like using custom DPI
