I have to charge it twice a day, and my use is for only couple of hours talking and few browsing.
I tried that with stock as well as
[ROM] cwm-Phantom-X-
is anyone else also experiencing the same?
a few hours being like 10 hours straight talking?
You're crazy. This battery is the best I've seen in a long time.

I can drain a battery in 6 hours or less. I can't make it through a 8 hour work day without charging it. I guess you guys that go 12+ hours on a charge aren't power users. I tried every rom and kernel and my results are exactly the same.
Maybe the people who are complaining about battery life came from a flip phone or a blackberry. As far as smartphones go, this is the best you'll find for the features and enormous screen we have. Don't believe me then get an Amaze, Sensation, myTouch 4g Slide or G2x.

Before I had HTC G2 and same amount of use it last for whole day (around 12+ hours) but this one hardly goes upto 7-8 hours with one charge...
I did the battery wipe with full charge, if that makes any difference.

I dont know bout anyone else... but the only battery problems ive experienced is the fact that ive become so damn lazy on keeping the phone charged.
The battery lasts so long that i forget to charge it, and then i run out of battery
I'm a heavy user literally all I do is watch 1080p movies and plays games on my phone. I get twelve to fourteen hours every day. I also get at least a text every fifteen minutes if not more. Maybe the developers didn't remove career ciq which bogs down performance and drain the battery. You can also try a different kernel.

don't forget that in areas where you have crappy signal, you phone pumps up the power to try and compensate. you may notice your phone heating up in your pocket too. If you have no signal at all, i weep for your battery life.
go into airplane mode to save juice.
I too get 24 hours or more from light to moderate use with juggernaut.
Heavy use still nets me at least 10 hours. Although I toggle things off if I remember and don't need them. Like wifi, data, auto bright, sync, etc. although WAY lead important with this phone than it was with vibrant running cm7.

I had some weird battery drain with the stock rom. I couldnt get more than 5 hrs with light usage or heavy usage. I flashed streamlined (a mostly stock rom) from teshxx and im back to having 9-10hrs of battery life with moderate to heavy usage (3hrs of on screen time)

Why don't you try adding another core to your G2 and see if you can even get 6+ hours!!!
Cmon man, this is a dual core phone...it's just common sense that it will use twice as much battery power to get it to run smoothly.
But honestly, I was able to get 21hrs out of a full charge. With heavy use but i had it UC'd @ 1.2max and 192min. Still ran pretty smooth tho.
I get about 18 to 20 hours from a full charge. Stock. Non-rooted, and no modifications of any kind. I have all my apps auto-sync every 4 hours, and my usual display "on time" is around 4 to 5 hours. Here are some screen shots. This is the best battery life I ever had.
Just to add. My brightness is at 40%
is it better to use autobrightness on our device or a set brightness setting to save battery?

Currently using latest calk rom I get about 2 hours using my phone for browsing thr internet at home. When 3g is turned on it drains even faster.
It has always been like this. If the phone is set on idle without 3g and wifi it lasts about 10 hours.
also it takes about 3 to 4 hours to fully charge, i feel this is too long.
so any rom that might help me? is the battery faulty?

Blazer ROM
why are you using your phone to browse all day long ? use a pc or a tablet. its a phone not a desktop pc. plus put it into airplane mode and then turn wifi on, it disables the cel/data radios hence the battery last longer. If your phone takes 3-4 hours to charge from 0-100 something is wrong with it. turn if off and charge it, cuts down charging time A LOT !
That is ridiculous. But I've been using Blazer Rom for about 2 weeks now and I always get 30 hours+ battery life. I just got 3.8 and I hit over 40 hours just this weekend.
well, um, wow, those are some ... great suggestions...
you might have a bad batt, sure.
i would think it is likely something else though.
a few things off the top of my head.
is this on a "clean install"?
is there some app you have loaded that might be pinging/updating constantly? (I'm on the exact same rom, getting all day at least)
what modem are you on?
did you flash a custom kernel?
do you know how to take a screenshot of battery usage? show us what processes are eating it?

It could be a bad ROM (bad install, not the ROM itself), but don't presume that's the case.
Measuring whether the phone is draining appropriately is difficult to do when it's in active use (e.g., 2 hours of browsing) ; thus most people measure effective drain by measuring the drain rate when the phone is 'sleeping' -- though in some cases a bad app or bad install will prevent the phone from sleeping.
I would recommend charging the phone to full, leave all default radios on (GPS/Wifi/3g), and let it sit for an hour or two. If you're losing more than ~3-5%/hour, then you have a problem.
Tools you can use:
- CPU Spy - Will show you whether your phone is entering Sleep state or not
- Battery Monitor Widget Pro - will measure your mA drain rate; during sleep, you'd want it to be at least below 20mA, ideally below 10mA (note, this app requires a couple of charge/discharge cycles before its measurements are reliable).
- Better Battery Stats -- If you find your device is NOT sleeping, this will help you figure out what applications (including the kernel) may be preventing the device from sleeping.

Your point? I could kill my phone in 6 hours too, but why would I want to do that? I play games all the time when I'm out at work or just out in general and I still get over 24 hours of battery. I never use my phone when I'm at home, that's what I have my tv and computer for.
how long has it been since you flashed? Maybe it needs a few cycles to settle. Do you have any wake lock issues? get betterbatterystats app, free for xda members, to check for kernel or partial wake locks.
I'm on BlazerROM 3.7 and getting about 1% every 2 hours on idle. It took me a week to see the battery life i'm getting now. My wife is on calks 2.8.1, I don't know what shes getting but when she gets home from work, she's still around 50%. On stock, she was typically around 30% already.
how do you get betterbatterystats for free as an xda member?

I have seen this "mystery battery drain" problem in other threads. There is usually an app responsible. Try Watchdog, its not bad.
I also have heard that SD card or file errors can be responsible for the drain. Formatting the memory takes care of the problem. If it were me, I would format the memory, then run chkdsk (Windoze, or the equivalent in another OS) to mark bad sectors. In the case of internal memory, you will have to do that through the USB cable. Do so at your own risk, of course

The point is you walk into someones situation and act as if their usage of the device on whatever rom your on is going to produce a parallel experience. One of the biggest factors no matter the rom is screen brightness. If you spend most of your time out doors the experience is completely different even with the same usage patterns otherwise. I love screen brightness personally, haptic feedback is nice too who cares about the battery when the experience is better?
I have games on the phone, GTA III, MC2/3, Dead Space, etc. I don't actually play them. I remote into my PC, browser the web. I have a TON of apps that use the phone idle/background. I keep steam and im+ pro going. I let TEP ping GPS data every 10 minutes. Weather widget, google voice, etc. I even have Samsung Apps installed with its oh so horrible push service that apparently rapes peoples batteries... cant say it hurts at all.
Today was a day for me where my boss was around so I couldn't use the device much and when i did it meant leaving things like a remote client on because I couldn't touch it to turn it off. 52% battery was left after 12 hours so it obviously was going to survive the 16 hours I am awake, going to sleep now so it would easily last 24 hours. But the battery being Li-Ion and me actually caring about it, its going on the charger. Tomorrow could be 30 and the next day will probably be 8 hours.
As far as the topic is progressing. Check your apps and your settings. Ive had battery life so bad the phone died on the charger. Same rom, same apps slightly different setup later and I am getting good to acceptable and that constant wake this guy is probably getting is gone.
If your using a lot of push apps, you're battery becomes nothing more than a decoration, lol. Apps like aim, kik, basically all the chat ones. Games like words with friends. The more apps you have checking for updates on top of heavy usage with kill your battery fairly efficiently

Which personally was part of the issue before on my setup. I still have them going again and battery life is decent. I mean Id want 16 hours out of a phone surely whatever my day is Ill have it on a charger by bed time.
I personally usually get 12 hours or more on days Im not using it constantly, 6 to 8 if I am using it every waking second. 24+ on days off. Haven't tried blazer in particular myself yet but Calks seems manageable even for demanding use.
I am watching this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23272848) in amazement, as people report 24+ hours of battery life, with screen-on time of four, five, or even SEVEN hours!
I can't understand how folks get such great life.
Mine averages about two or three hours of screen time and about 14-18 hours, I'd say. I'm using Blazer 4.0, FB27 modem, and Rogue 1.4 kernel.
I know everybody's usage is different, and also we're all going to get different results due to other factors (signal strength, apps, etc), but I can't understand why the massive difference in battery life!
And I do have an 1800 maH battery.
Note: I do have a handful of apps, but not a whole lot, and I don't think any are destroying the battery. According to BetterBatteryStats, it doesn't look like the phone is having any trouble sleeping. That is, the screen-on time is just slightly lower than the awake time, meaning that the phone is typically sleeping when the screen is off.

With your usage, you feel 14-18 hours of battery is bad??? Id say a day of 16 hours consistently is pretty darn good. Now, I know that I have gotten over a day on battery by using it all day and then forgetting to charge it over night. Sleeping while the phone isnt awake can give some pretty outrageous looking battery life. Again, Id say if you are getting 14-18 hours on one charge, you are doing pretty darn good.
Im lucky if I can get 7-8 with all the "videos" I watch during the day

Well, I understand that when the phone is sleeping, it generally uses very little power -- especially on wifi.
It's mainly the screen-on time that amazes me. How can somebody get seven hours of screen-on time?? Just seems unreal!

Well I am assuming that their 7 hours of screen on time was doing something minor. Then again, these are electronics, and they are all different. He just may have found his perfect set up. But again, if you can get through your day, doing everything you needed to with your phone and lasted 14-18 hours, I would be happy.

disabling fb/twitter sync has helped my bat life improve.
always turning screen off when done rather than letting 1min timer take care of that whenever possible.
wifi is better on battery than 4g/3g. also disable wifi sleep.
other than that.. all comes down to extra 3rd party apps you have and personal usage.
I've never calculated mine all out, but I do get some pretty decent battery life.
Its all about how you use the phone. everyone seems to have there own definition of what "heavy" and "light" usage is but the fact is people getting 14+ hours aren't using there phone all that often. if you want to know how much actual usage time you can get out of the phone check the time the phone has been awake or the time the screen has been on.
for example my g2x goes for about 2 and a half hours of screen on time. my vibrant, 2 hours. havent had the e4gt long enough to see. these numbers of course changes depending on what you're actually doing (data intensive tasks will obviously cause faster drain) but it will give you an idea of how much you can actually use the phone before it dies. if all youre doing is texting here and there and checking email plus maybe 15-20 minutes of games or videos it isnt hard to get through a 10-12 hour day on a single charge. but if youre like me where i spend extended periods of time browsing the net while messaging and texting then the batter is going to die fast regardless of what battery saving tricks people suggest.
I recently removed OfficeSuite Pro 5 and noticed about 15-20% better battery life.
I also removed it from my other android devices and my tablets. Still testing them to see if theres a difference or not but so far it seems a bit better battery life.

I don't know. Just how much can you believe people who are posting on forums that they are not exaggerating? Take for instance the post below where this guy was claiming he got 11 hours of screen on time and STILL had over 50% battery left on stock battery. By far the biggest claim in battery life I have ever seen. And he was insistent on it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22293195&postcount=30
All I'm saying is take what people are saying about amazing battery life with a grain of salt.
I average about 3 hours screen on time, and occasionally get over 4 hours with ~24 hours total time. But if my signal isn't the greatest, like when I'm at work, I get probably 1.5 hours screen on time and 17 hours total time.
I'm currently at 14h 41m with display on for 2h 36m and still have 47% battery left (I'm on stock rooted EL29).

For me, I removed junk I don't use, like foursquare. That alone made a huge difference. I also turn off data at night, and only went down about 4% while I slept.
Another option is to install something like JuiceDefender, which automatically shuts down data except switching it on every hour or so to allow for some syncs, then shuts it down again.
same as my arc, drained about 30% in the first day, with time it'll be better.
i was about to ask the same question. 7 hours seems about right, but i have been doing a lot of app installs, so I will give it time to settle down.
I use the XS in Hong Kong. If I use the phone online to play with internet browser, battery will be drained from 100% to 69% in approx. 1 hour. Is it too fast? Or it just a normal way when compare with SII or GN?

Ohh yes. U are soo right. Had my phone now for 4 days. The display uses an average of 70% of the overall battery consumption. It is not WiFi, calls, BT or any other functions. Had an Arc for around one year. On a daily average the screen took about 55% and I had no problems to get a full day out of it. (approx 16 to 18 hours) and still 10-15% juice left. Now I get max 10-12 hours out of my S and NO juice left. Really disappointing. Even my old X10 did better than my new S.

Surely the HD display amongst other things, ie how you have your phone set up, may go someway to why your experiencing poor battery life compared to your Arc.
Try to disable Bravia engine and see if you notice any difference especially during the night.
My phone has the same apps as my Arc, actually minus few of them.
No autosync etc.
Basically it drains the battery quick, it's unacceptable. It behaves exactly like one of the older Arc firmwares, which was also draining battery like crazy.
Than they fixed it and it's still brilliant. My Arc on Flight Mode beeing just a backup in case of any problems, runs 3rd day on one charge, still 75% left.
I think S is just not optimized and it makes me mad.
Just got My XS yesterday I did one fully charge this morning . Turned off data at home, will not know until battery is fully charged by a few cycles. I love the phone irrespective of the flaws. I think may be see in a week or 2 where my battery settles.

I've set the schedule in which the airplane mode will be activated at 12.00 am and turned back to normal at 6.00 am.
By this way, my phone battery drains overnight just only 2-4%.

Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
I actually agree with that tbh, and another thing is battery life all depends on how the individual uses their phone.
I had the sgs2 and alot of people said oh the battery life is rubbish but yet they had:
screen brightness on 100%
3g, wi-fi, bluetooth always on
live wallpapers running.
Plus they were using the internet for like 2hours
sending numerous emails
playing games
listening to music
I mean come on its a phone at the end of the day, its not a super computer or something or some nuclear powered device.
I nearly 2 days out of my sgs2 under moderate - quite heavy usage
because I turned my screen brightness all the way down
didnt leave 3g, wi-fi, bluetooth on all the time only when i needed to use those features, i never used live wallpapers and i dont send numerous emails.
when i had the play again people said the battery life was rubbish but again i got about 1day 10hours or a bit more sometimes based on the above mentioned info.
so as long as my SXS last 1day even I dont mind that because at the end of the day it has a HD screen so its going to use alot of power.
Okay so on my third day with the phone...
my battery is fine, actually...more than fine. I turn off my wi-fi/bluetooth/gps when not needed, and I don't run my battery heavy apps for a long time.
I also installed a task killer...I know it's in theory not needed, but I will see how it goes.
woke up around 7 today, used my wifi, used a battery intensive app (dream zoo , it's an addiction) for like 15min or so. Went for a walk, used the camera...a LOT, made a lot of panorama pictures. It's now almost 11:15 and i'm only down less than 15% I believe.
It's got much better battery usage than my X10 to be honest...but this is a high-end full HD phone, I wasn't expecting my battery to last so well D:
I will update again at the end of the day about how low it got, but I am pleased with it.
Got the Hyperion last week from Amazon and overall I was impressed with its initial performance. It was a huge boost from the oem battery as I didn't have to recharge my phone at all during the day.
My only concern is that I've noticed I haven't been seeing similar numbers as others have mentioned with their Hyperion. I mean, I'm not getting 24+ hrs of use with 8 hrs of on screen time. I'll take a photo next time when its at its lowest charge but I am averaging about 5-6 hrs of on screen time, and thats with basic use, surfing the web, texting, couple phone calls, no games or movies, wifi/gps/sync on, and 30% brightness, non rooted as well.
Does anyone else feel their Hyperion isn't performing as others have claimed?

24+ hours with 8+ hours screen is is down right impossible. The reason people get extended batteries is because they want more than the stocks screen time for 4-5 hours without worrying about their phone dying.
Not really... With the correct kernel and ROM I can push that if not surpass it. Paranoid 2.51 leankernel 1.6 been home all day from the storm... That's 3 hours 12 mins screen on time @ 67% juice left.

For me, not so much. Today for an example, I got a little over 12 hrs until I hit the 5% mark with almost 6 hours of screen on time. Home all day too with wifi on and screen brightness at 30%.
One thing I did notice though is that the "sdcard" used 1 hr and 17 mins of the battery. I've never even seen the sdcard on the activity list before, this is the 2nd time I've seen it since installing the Hyperion battery. Hmm what could it be?
I almost made it.. I'm running Aokp build 4. Not sure what the kernel is.
Plus the batteries have to go through a charging period... I noticed the first day it lasted a long time almost 2 days. (1day22hrs)I forget what the screen on time.

No, it is very possible, as I get that all the time on my hyperion.

Have you looked at any wakelocks your getting with better battery stats? That is pretty bad for the 4200 batt. Did you do the charging cycles that were detailed in the user manual?
Hey I was just passing by and reading threads, although I don't have this battery, a very possible reason that your battery life might not be as good is that you're still on stock. Notice everyone else who posted is on a custom rom + kernel. The GS3 stock roms are nice but come very bloated with apps. I read somewhere that on stock when you start up your phone, by default it starts a very impressively high number of processes ~50ish. I could be wrong on that but yeah a bloated stock rom MIGHT be the problem. Just my thought.

No I have not tried that app yet.
And yes I did follow the initial charging instructions as well.
It has to be something with the phone because even with the stock battery I had terrible performance, it'd last me only 3 hrs of on screen time where I've heard most users receive around 5.
He is my cpu time, it seems normal since the phone is spent most of its time in deep sleep.
Good at first/No so good after a couple months?
I havce the Hyperion, and have experienced close to 48 hours of life, albeit with very little use. With moderate use, I've experienced 30 hours. My screen time never surpasses 3 hours per day.
A few weeks ago I installed the Serenity 1.1 ROM. I have not been able to get more than 15 hours with that ROM.
This morning, I put in my stock battery, and it has been in for 9 hours so far, and is currently at 83%. I did a reboot about 4 hours ago, so don't have accurate screen-on stats. But I'm never at 83% this time of day with the Hyperion.
ANyone else experience good, then later, poor performance from this battery?
In the beginning I head awesome battery power. Now the battery is horrible I only get 2 hours screen time at 65 percent. Any ideas? Also undervolted and running 1.8mhz but battery still runs hot.

I know most of you already notice this but if you don't:
In Setting/ Power saving mode, check the "CPU power saving" then your phone will be limit to 1.1GHz max from 1.6Ghz.
I would suggest to tick on the "Screen power saving", "background color" and "turn off haptic feedback" to save some extra juice.
LTE on. 24h unplugged. 75% screen brightness. Full heavy haptic feedback. Heavy gaming and Internet use. Phone calls. Texting. 3D live wallpaper. Still 7h screen on time before the phone finally had to be plugged in.
I don't know what you use your phone for but I'm going crazy on mine and can't kill the battery. If you need more juice, then more power to ya. I can't fathom why.

LOL I tried to kill mine but it out lasted me I woke up at 5 for work and by end of the day I went on a 2 hour gaming session to try and completely drain it and got it to 9% but it was like 10 and had work next day so gave up. I lost
I'm still suffering from battery OCD after coming from the iphone 4S. Now I feel like plugging in my note 2 whenever I'm at my desk at work.... So you guys don't think I need to?

Try a day without charging your phone at your desk. Yesterday I pulled in about 7 hours of on-screen time. That's with LTE and anything else internet intensive you could imagine. The only way you'll overcome that worry you have is to test it out yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I run mine full cycle every time to 1% left then charge. Best way to maximize battery life

I'm with you. I came from the Skyrocket and it was a struggle to get through a full weekday on LTE. In the past week with the Note 2 I don't even have to think about charging it when I'm awake during the day. It's very liberating!

I would understand this philosophy if the Note 2 didn't have an easily replaceable battery, but in a years time you could replace a poor battery for cheap. Just recently the stand with extra battery and charger was $30 on the Samsung site (it may still be that price)
I think its my ocd from my note 1. Always seeking the longest battery life possible

I came from worse. I had an HTC Raider (Vivid) and that battery was horrid. Stupid HTC putting a 1620mah battery in a phone with LTE and a 4.5" screen

Damn, I wish I could get run times like that. I usually get HSPA signal and after 16 hrs I'm dead with 4-5 hrs of screen on time. I mostly text and do web browsing. Maybe an hour of music with wifi on all the time and auto brightness. Still lasts longer than my SGS3 did.
My first charge is 7 hours screen time for 24 hours unplugged. Now it's going down hill to 4-4:30 hours after i rooted and remove bloats. Installed couple MoDs.. Dammed i wish i can go back to 7 hours screen time

You do know to "remove bloat" all you had to do was go into the stock app manager in settings and disable anything you didn't want. That is actually a much better solution than "freezing" with TiBu or removing altogether. I'm not convinced root and mods are 100% stable yet. Most people reporting decreased battery life are those that have rooted or modded something. I'm still 100% stock with ATT stuff disabled and batt life is still 7+ hours.

Even bare stock I wasn't getting that much screen on time. So far I've only rooted and changed the kernel. Though today my battery life is starting off good. Yesterday I ticked the power saving option for the screen. I'll post an update tomorrow.
Today I was on for 5.5 hours, screen time of 2.2 and was at 54% with Power Saving On
So I went to bell and grabbed another battery
Time will tell if that helps
I could never reach 5 hours of screen time but could have the phone on for 30+ hours
I cant wait till we get more developer support, I used Francos Kernel with my galaxy nexus and it improved battery by 30 % and made my 8 hours overnight use only 2% battery. I was using 12-17% overnight with my note 2 asleep. Aside from kernels and roms I use this phone exactly the same as I did my Nexus. wifi off, bt off, gps on, push email on, auto brightness

Lithium Ion batteries actually do better if you don't charge it constantly. In other words let it run down a bit before charging. You don't want to always keep "topping it off". But in general these batteries are much more resilient than others.
Just do some research. There's lots of info out there.

Umm, no, it does not. You are stressing the battery out. Unless needed, dont keep the battery below 20%. Its healthier to charge the phone sporatically throughout the day.
These aren't nickel batteries...they dont need to be trained or "cycled"

I'm a battery test engineer so I have played around with Li-ion batts.
If you can keep the phone at cool temperature and charge at 40% and stop at 80% then keep doing 40-80, your battery will last double long

Agreed. Full discharges are not necessary for lithium ion batteries. Full discharges were needed for NiCad or NiMH batteries as they suffered from memory effect. LithIon doesn't suffer from this. With that said, a lot of experts do suggest discharging a LithIon periodically, maybe once a month or every other month.
