Phone is rooted.
Everything was working fine until I updated with a GB custom rom.
Then my camera would work intermittently. Work for a bit.. then had to reboot to get it working again.
Now with the newest GB roms my camera isn't working at all. It goes to gray screen and I have to hit the home button to get out.
I have tried numerous different rom and there is no difference. I have went from Camera version 2.XXXX to Camera version 3.XXX in the roms.
I have cleared the cache, etc etc.
Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?

Fresh 4.3.1 and 4.3.2
Swag "No Swag"
Signed Team nocturnals RLS3
Energy 11/18/2011
I have Cynogen's newest but haven't tried it yet.
I was running Fresh 3.xxx with no problem. 4.3.1 started the problem .. 4.3.2 completely made it dysfunctional.
hmmm, have you tried flashing a stock rom? Perhaps your camera hardware just died, and it happened exactly when you flashed a new rom.

That's entirely possible.
However, my UPDATE PRL and UPDATE PRI is doing the same thing.
BTW: Swag (no swag) is pretty close to a stock rom.

It hasn't been working for months no matter what kernel I'm on. It shows me that message that flash isn't on cause battery low or some crap. Even if my battery is at 93 percent. it works on no roms. The flash lights will come on if I use my phone as a flashlight. I have a hardware 0004 evo with .76 bootloader and everything up to date except radios, new 3.7 software, and new kernel. but everything else is up to date as far as the update right before 3.7 do anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this I really don't want to send my phone in and get a refurbished on I got mines brand new when the 0004 first came out.
This is a known issue with the "4s". I think you have to be running stock rooted for it to work, but I may be wrong.
Awwww man that sucks. I don't want to leave myn just so my flash would work. The camera and video camera works fine. It's just the flash didn't they release a software or kernel that was suppose to be a fix?

My gf got a new evo, HW0004, epson i think (screen clicks to new brightnesses). When I flash anything lower than the latest OTA with sense (3.70.651.1) then 3G doesn't work and the screen looks like a monitor does when the dvi cable is coming unplugged, just vertical. But it screen goes away when i power it off/on. The same issues present themselves using ANY aosp base rom (MIUI, CM, LiquidE).
I've tried kernels, PRI downgrading, nothing changes it. Is anyone experiencing this as well?

Try flashing the latest combo (Wipe cache and dalvik first):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
While on Sense ROM update your profile and PRL.
Hopefully that would work. Good Luck.
I tried updating the radios, etc, no dice
You tried just running the latest RUU then rerooting?

Well it couldn't hurt and seeing how there is a new unrevoked that works with the most current OTA it shouldn't be too big of a problem.
I've been having the same issue with my evo. I tried flashing the latest radios, flashed back to the latest OTA and updated profile and PRL and neither worked. When I was on the OTA I had 3g even before I did any updating, and as soon as i go back to CM it goes back to 1x. Any other options?
Tonight I upgraded/downgraded PRI, NV, and Radio to no avail. Does anyone know what's going on?
I cant say when this started, because i barely use the camera. but i notice the video recorder wouldn't record about a week ago. I'd hit record and it wouldn't record. [still showed the picture through the camera]
[Camera] when on the camera screen, its a blank white screen. It still snaps pix, but of a blank white screen.
[Cam Recorder] still doesn't record any video, but now also show the same blank all white screen.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
What rom are you using, and are you running a custom kernel? Your issue sounds suspiciously like what happens when you run a froyo kernel on a gingerbread Sense rom.
Like jesuspgt said, might be caused if you have been flashing different kernels. Try wiping factory, cache, dalvik, etc. If that doesn't work, wipe everything and reflash the rom

Just wiped everything and reinstalled the rom, and now its working again. But the crazy part is, I already did that twice before. I guess third times a charm. Or maybe it was because i wiped the sd before reinstalling the rom the 3rd. time.
Is that rom gingerbread? If so, then it probably used at least part of the leaked gingerbread sense release as a base, which would explain why flashing that netarchy kernel caused your camera problems.
As far as I know, all gingerbread roms with Sense currently have this issue.
I have a problem with MIUI rom. Some days ago, my phone suddenly had FC, now, my phone run really slow and laggy... If I turn off the screen, my phone won't wake up, only four button in the bottom light up.
I wiped everything in CMW (system, data, and cache, also sd-card) but it doesn't work.
The fresh install had the same issues
I have this problem only with MIUI rom
any help
You probably need to provide more info on the issue. What version of MIUI are you running? Have you tried a fresh download of the ROM?

i have tried from 1.8.5 to 1.9.2.
it's very weird
this guy has the same problem with me, maybe he can explain better than me
http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?3740-Display-won-t-wake-from-sleep
Hey guys, I flashed 1.819 yesterday and everything was going great. The ROM ran smoothly and I was having no issues at all. When I woke up the next morning my display would not turn back on. Every time I tried to turn on the display the soft lights would light up but the display remained unresponsive. The phone still seemed functional as I could hear e-mail and sms notifications coming through.
When I rebooted my phone it was abnormally slow.. mounting the sd card and syncing seemed like it was taking forever and the launcher was very jittery.. if I let my display time out it would not come back on and I'd be forced to pull the battery and try again.
I performed a full wipe through clockwork recovery (everything, including wiping system, data, and cache in 'mounts and usb') and reinstalled 1.819. The fresh install had the same issues.. if I let my display time out I wouldn't be able to turn it back on. I thought I was having some wonky hardware issue but after flashing my previous sense rom and everything is working perfectly.. so I'm pretty much scratching my head here. My phone was kickass for one day and became allergic to MIUI overnight!

Have you tried using a different kernal such as Tiamat or JD's Kernal?
May want to try that. I had good luck with Miui and Tiamat (ran it for a week)

Does this happen immediately after you flash? Or are you installing applications to get back to your preferred setup and then seeing the performance problems?
If it's the latter, I'd run the rom alone and see if it runs normally. Then install your applications individually until you encounter issues.

immediately after the flash. I don't install any other apps
since we are talking about MIUI issues. I am running the latest version of MIUI with the JDKernal.
The camera has color distortion lines when I take a picture. The picture comes out fine but when taking it the image shows the distortion. It did not do that before so I can only assume its something with the camera in the ROM.
Anyone else see this?

tenchu, your signature says you are not English or American. Are you running the MIUI.us ROM on your incredible 2 in English - and not another language?
.....just a thought.
Hi all! I have flashed my phone three times with the Synergy ROM and I've flashed the freedom kernel, and chopsuey kernel numerous more times. But for some reason I can't get my camera to work! I tried to the date fix trick and it didn't work. I tried flashing a camera.zip file I found on another forum that was supposed to wipe the data so I could use it again but it was no good.
The camera stopped working once before I rooted my phone but after I tried the date fix trick it worked again. Ever since then it hasn't work
Please help!
Thank you
What recovery are u using. U should be using amonra. If so are you wiping properly?
Have you ruled out possible hardware failure by maybe nanding back to a back up where the camera was working?
Have u checked the md5s for both synergy and your kernels?
Just a few ideas....good luck
Hey,
That sounds more to me a hardware issue, my dads camera on his evo is all screwed up and is just a broken camera and it works when it wants to, but there is nothing really you can do about it.
Does the front camera work?
and are the kernels compatible with your rom?
Try mikg,3.0, it's a better version of synergy .should take care of your problem.
Thank you for all your input but I think it is a hardware issue. I've flashed energy, synergy, CM7 with different (yet compatible) ROMs on each of them and the camera still doesn't work. I've given up
sounds like hardware. The cam is set into a removeable port. Try taking out the back and remounting the cam.
