I see several threads talking about battery life but no one has shown their actual "screen on" time which is what really counts, as it tells us how long have you actually been using the phone for.
I am starting this thread in order to try to collect a more accurate representation of how long the Galaxy Nexus battery lasts, using screen on time as the biggest factor (which it is).
So, in order to find this out, owners of the GNexus, please go to the battery stats section and tap on the "Screen" line, which will tell you for how long has the display been on.
How long are you guys seeing the display last until the battery is really low?
As a frame of reference, I remember seeing about 6-7hrs max on the Galaxy S2, when used with mainly black backgrounds.
I'm interested in this too. While each person's usage will differ, a couple of figures/screenshots would help gauge how much more battery the large screen uses as compared to phones some are planning to switch from.

From my testing using 3g browsing the phone lasts at most 4 hours with screen on. This is at manual 40% brightness since automatic brightness makes the screen too dark for me. Battery life is definitely worse than galaxy S2 in fact it is so bad that I an considering returning the phone.

ok..... ive had a quiet day of usage .... few calls, several texts, couple of pictures, bit of browsing and ten mins testing video capabilities. my stats are :
7h 15m on battery
screen 57%
android os 17%
phone idle 8%
mobile standby 4%
media server 4%
vplayer 3%
Android system 2%
Voice calls 2%
Browser 2%
wifi 2%
and my battery is still at 65% !!!
i never used to get this much juice out of my HTC Desire !

Please go back to battery stats and tap on "Screen" to know exactly how much time has the screen been on for. That is what we really need to know.
The standby life of the phone with the screen off is fine. However, with the screen on it gobbles power and lasts 4 hours max. Here is screenshot of my usage today:

Guys, thanks for the screenshots but please tap on the Screen percentage bar to show actual screen on time. That is the statistic we need.
Here it is, it is actually worse than I thought the screen was only on for 2h 27min:
I did manually set the brightness to around 40% since as I said before auto-brightness is too dark for me.
Thanks, that's what I needed. It is indeed pretty bad, as I expected SAMOLED is still an awful choice for web browsing.

That's the case with all screens. Until battery technology gets an update (in two to four years time) we won't see a better performance without extended battery.
That's just how it is. It never bothered me on HTC Desire. During one day I don't use the screen more than three or four hours in total. At best I use it one hour in the morning during the process of getting to work and one hour to get home and then an hour in between during calls, checking news or reading e-mail. I personally am totally fine with it, it is not meant to replace a computer or a tablet that both have much better power supply simply thanks to their size.
my screen has now been on for 1h 32 mins
(total 8h 34 and now 64% battery)
shame......we need more people to chime in. I've heard about better battery life than a few hours of screen time.
Only reason why i like iPhone....can browse internet for hours and hours and hours and GPS
I also do not usually use the phone more than 3 - 4 hours a day during a weekday. However on weekend or when travelling I do need a longer-lasting phone. I was hoping it would last as long as Galaxy S2, but unfortunately it doesn't.

Not exactly true. AMOLED and SAMOLED screens have different power requirements depending on what is showing on screen. Most websites have a white background, which for AMOLED screens means almos 3 times as much power usage as a standard LCD screen. So, technically LCD screens are better for browsing as their power usage remains constant no matter what you are looking at.
Just check out Anand's battery performance chart:
The iPhone wins because it has a smaller screen which is also IPS based and therefore very energy efficient. As you go down the list you'll see the only SAMOLED screen with "decent" performance is the Galaxy S2, and even then it's almost 3 hours worse than the Atrix, for example (granted the Atrix has a larger battery, but not by much).
What saddens me is how newer devices are targeted almost as mini-tablets thanks to their huge screens yet by using Super AMOLED screens they are limiting what you can use them for. The Galaxy Note barely lasts 3-4 hours browsing according to some tests.
I hope to see some more positive results soon, because as it stands I'm not happy with what I'm seeing from the Nexus.

On my Nexus S, I set the brightness to 8%.
And that's enough for me.
I have auto brightness toggle ready at the home screen if needed, for example during outdoor use.
All in all, I use my phone mostly indoor. Super AMOLED at 8% brightness is more than enough

For me it never really depend on the phone it was mostly something around 3-4 hours.
What counts as well is how good the drain in the deep sleep state is.
It wasn't a problem to survive 24h with my SGS II but with Desire, which is what I'm using now, I wouldn't bet on it.
ics just doesn't seem worth it...

i've had the atrix since it's been out and i've really been hoping to upgrade to something just as solid. for all the complaints i've read about the atrix i figured many other phones were better yet i go read on other phones and find the atrix wins out all the time. i'm running cm7.1 (not nightlies) and not o/c or u/v and my phone sports screen times over 7 hours. i can play any game. the phone has very decent ppi thanks to qHD on a 4" but the pentile sucks. gps is spot on...ok i could go on forever, i guess from what i'm reading, i'll just wait till the next 720p screen comes out with maybe like tegra3 next year, hopefully it'll come with lte by that time which is really what i wanted to upgrade to. 4.0 ics just doesn't seem worth the 3-4 months i'll have to wait vs the sacrifices i'd have to make...
that's pretty bad i am considering the nexus but that battery stats damm worse than de gs2

I LOVE the Galaxy Nexus, but the rate at which the battery discharges is just ridiculous. I'll use the phone for 15 minutes doing things like Twitter or Web Browsing, and it'll discharge 5% in that time. To me, that is horrible. I'm being really conservative too. Throughout a day I try not to play videos, games, or anything else intensive because I know it'll ruin my battery life. Even on standby it discharges 5% in an hour. Typically I lose about 10% an hour and my max has been 12 hours so far.
I have auto sync turned on and keep the screen low when possible. I NEED auto sync on because of the nature of my work. Compared to my iPhone 4S battery is downright pathetic.
Today my usage consisted of one phone call, a few text messages, lots of Twitter, and light web browsing. Nothing too crazy. Again I'm being really conservative with my usage whereas on my iPhone I can do whatever I want and not worry. I'm just not seeing how people are getting 15+ hours and claim heavy usage. I'd love to believe that! The battery drains so fast during normal usage it may be a deal breaker for me.

It sounds like your definition of light usage is wrong.
I wouldn't consider heaps of twitter and some web browsing light usage. I would consider it moderate usage, in which case you seem to be in line with everyone else.
I agree with you in that the battery life isn't quite what I would have liked. Ideally I wouldn't have to worry about battery at all, and I'd be able to play games and browse the web as much as I like, but for normal usage it's fine.
The next Nexus though, man, that will only have to be charged once a month. I can't wait.

Twitter hardly taxes the processors at all. Refreshing it every so often should hardly take any battery life at all. Web Browsing I can understand, but my total time browsing today probably amounts to 10 minutes total.
I wonder how much of the drain is attributed to the 4.65" screen. It's a monster.

Most of it. 720p Super AMOLED HD is killing the battery. The only way to last a long time is to not turn the screen on.

almost 3hours of screen from 10h standby!! mate give us a break and get back 4s. !!
heavy usage not low!
i can see low signal (coverage) what can also produce higher battery drain.
twiter running 24/7 in backround sync on + wifi + games...
i dont know what you want... you will never get anything similar from for example HTC sensation or even your favourite 4s.
dont take it on bad way..but if you dont know what to do - try to save your battery..
-lower your screen britness
-remove/disable apps that are producing the heavy drain (use betterbatterystats app)
-stop playing games - if you wanna long life for your battery.
-etc...

People using a G2x claim to get a day and a half... I'm lucky to get out of work. Push email for work is to blame I think. I get tons of emails (100 a day) and I think its taxing. From your pics, the screen used over 50% of it. That's a lot.
Sucks.
Also make sure your aren't turning on the screen every 5 minutes to check the status. Since your coming from an iOS, are you closing apps properly (back = close, home = minimize).

I had the same thing happen with the Nexus One. The battery wasn't that great but, got better after a few charge cycles.
I've never had a Android phone that could match the battery life of the Iphone. I can sit the iphone down at night without putting it on the charger and, if it's at 100% it will be at about 90-95% when I wake up. I did the same thing with my Mytouch 4G and, it was at 15%
To the OP, I would recommend keeping a charging cable with you when you out and about especially in your car. I've had car docks with a few of my android phones and, always keep the phone docked when I'm driving somewhere. It really helps.
What you also need to remember is this is the first release of ICS and is still in development so battery life my be improved in the next update. Like you mention iPhone4S there was massive battery leakage in the first release of IOS 5 which Apple apparently fixed in the newest update.. So maybe in the next update we can expect some bugs ironed out.
Used to only have ONLY 2-3 hours screen ON on my Vibrant so I know how SAmoled looks like.
I know iphone battery is good, but you need to consider the screen size too..
Get a spare battery with your "light usage", but I am thinking how much would it cost becoz of the NPC antenna.
Too good thing is, unlike iPhone, you can buy a spare battery and carry it with you.

I already said I didn't play any games today and my screen brightness is low. For some reason Shadowgun stays in the battery info screen. I played the game two days ago and manually closed it out. Even after rebooting the phone its still there.
I'm being 100% real, stop trying to make excuses or act like I'm an iPhone fanboy. The Galaxy Nexus combined with ICS is the best phone I've ever used! I'm just terribly disappointed with the battery life.
Twittering all day is sucking up battery because of all the data use. Dude, youre not a light user with 3 hours screen time moderate, possibly heavy depending on background stuff sycing automatically. You have some tweaking to do, not whining.

3 hours is not that much. Seriously. It shouldn't be damn near dead after 10 hours. Imagine if I decided to play a game for 15 minutes or watch 2 YouTube videos.
I bet if people were getting an hour and half with this phone, all the fanboys here would say the same thing. "Man, an hour and a half is a long time! You should be happy with that!".

I've tested out the battery difference by turning off auto sync. Doesn't make a difference at all. Fact of the matter is that the battery drains like crazy when the screen is on.
I'll just turn my phone on because actually using it is frowned upon here.

During my sleep or when my phone is idle or when I know I am not using it for a long period of time, I switch my phone to 2G.

I went into the bathroom with full charge and after I did my daily deed(s) I went down to 43% with brightness turned all the way down and only running xda app. wtf gives?

I have the lte sgn and I would say my battery life is directly related to the screen on time.
The battery is usually completely discharged once the screen on time approaches around 3 hours, regardless of the total time it has been since the last full charge.
Sometimes I can get 20+ hours total life and sometimes I can barely get 5 or 6 hours of total life. Just depends on how fast I reach the screen on time "limit" so to speak of about 3 hours or so.

I have the 4g, and ill admit, when i got it the battery life was pretty bad. In part to newphonesyndrom, but stock is pretty bad in general
Currently running peter alfonso's bugless beast 4.0.3 and francico franco's kernel #6. Battery life has gotten wayyy better; so there is a light at the end of the stock tunnel. My phone goes into cpu sleep way more than before, and on the computer side of things, its efficient to the point that the screen uses 75% of battery compared to the 50% i used to see (more battery to screen means less everything else is drawing). And turning down the brightness, i kinda like the fuzzy whites, kinda gives it a paperlike texture
And turn off wifi if you are not actively using, it will just search endlessly. Same with turning off 4g if you are going to be in a 3g area for awhile

How high is your screen brightness?
1h45m with screen on is most likely considerably longer than the time the other posters have had their screens on for.
EDIT: I'm saying this because most people with brilliant battery life tend to have LOW screen on time.

This was at Auto Brightness. I know I had the screen on for a long time, but is this what I need to accept from now on? That after a total time of 2 hours of screen ON time, the battery will be dead? Is the only way to get good battery life to turn off 4G and not use the phone that much? I would expect the phone to be able to survive for at least 3-5 hours even if the screen was on 100%, but maybe I am just being naive.

I am curious about your battery times. I would like to know your screen "ON" time for at least the light and heavy usage that you reported.
All the battery posts I have been reading on this forum seem to directly correlate to screen "On" time. I have a theory that the battery dies after 2-3 hours of screen on time regardless of most other factors. So some people may get 16-18 hrs of battery time, but the screen was only on for 2.5 hours or so. If you get a chance I would love to see some of your battery reports with the Display on time reported next to them.

Well, less than 3 hours is pretty awful.
That's around what I get if I play games like GTA or Shadowgun for more than an hour.
I have the GSM GN so if you did turn 4G off you should have similar times as me. Which are on average 8-12 hours of moderate use including a lot of WhatsApp-ing, some music, some Facebook, some browsing, some calls and texts.
However playing games literally will drink my battery life away, so I tend to keep 3D games to a minimal when on the go.
Sorry if I am stealing the thread. I put this to anyone else with some battery screenshots. Take a screenshot of your display "ON" time and put it next to your total battery on time.
I would love to see if anyone is getting 3-6 hours of screen "ON" time coupled with 10-20 hours of Total Battery Time. Anyone?

I seriously doubt it. That is something I genuinely miss about my iPhone 4--I could get 8+ hours of screen on time and well over a day of standby on a single charge.

OOOH, we are taking that route huh? Well one reason why these lower than average battery times don't bother me that much is because I own 4 batteries for the Galaxy Nexus (2 standard, 2 extended) and can SWAP my batteries whenever I feel like it. Can you do that with your iPhone 4??? No, didn't think so.

At least you are getting 3-4 hours. I am barely getting 1.5 hours of screen on time before my battery is close to dead. It's alright though, I battery swap regularly and I will figure it out eventually. Just keep turning stuff off till my battery life improves a bit.

I think that kind of confirms it for me. Your screen on time is in the 3 to 4 hour range and your battery is almost completely discharged.
Once the screen on time reaches the 3-4 hour range, the phone dies. It just took you 2 days to reach the 3-4 hour screen on time.

Whoa buddy, ease off the haterade. I wasn't trying to start an argument or anything. I sold my iPhone 4 to buy a Galaxy Nexus, and I'm very happy with my decision. But the reality is the i4 got much better battery life, and I posted a screenshot (from my device) to support that. Swapping batteries wasn't necessary, and carrying around 4 doesn't exactly help your case.

I bought an extended battery (3500 mAh) from eBay for about $7 CAD, and it finally arrived the day before yesterday.
When I put it into my phone it was already at 74%. After charging it overnight, I started using it the next day at around 7:30 AM.
Before I post the screenshots of my extended battery (Edit: if anyone is wondering, data is usually always on, and brightness is set to Auto), let's have a look at the original stock 1650 mAh Samsung battery life:

With some simple math, at 9% remaining, this would have lasted me just over 7 hours before reaching 0%.
Conditions of usage: As you can see, I like to use my phone a lot with 76% screen time . I barely used my data/wifi. Data was on but not active, and most of the screen time was spent on Moon+ Reader.
Time lasted: On an average day, (I use data a lot and I play games) I would get about 5 h 45 min or less out of my phone. As you can see from the screenshots above, this wasn't really an average day so it lasted longer, which is reasonable as I did not use data very much.
ROM info: Westcrip's Resurrection Remix ICS Pro 1.0 with the kernel that comes with it.
Now let's compare this with the battery life of the 3500 mAh battery.
3500 mAh Extended Battery
Day 1 [30/03/12]:
Time lasted: A whopping 9 hours 20 minutes.
Conditions of usage: As you can see I was connected to wifi most of the time, and unlike the previous screenshots, I was using wifi/data a lot. I don't know why it says screen time is only 28% though because as you can see in the second picture I had "screen on" a lot.
A charge cycle has Battery Monitor reporting this battery's estimated/measured mAh to be 3074 mAh.
Only 500 mAh difference from advertised capacity, but not bad for $7, if I do say so myself. And this is only the first charge/discharge cycle, so I expect an increase in a couple days.
ROM info: AOKP (bezke's), with Siyah Kernel for ICS beta 7.
Day Two [31/03/12]:
This is the result of the second day of using the extended battery:
Time lasted: 8 hours and 30 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Now as you can probably tell I've used my phone a lot more today, with screen on at 40%. I had a lot of free time, so I was pretty much constantly on my phone, using data and also listening to music (through external speakers just below medium volume). Still not bad compared to stock battery. Data was always on, and brightness set to auto, and music was playing through the speakers for about under two hours.

Day 3 [01/04/12]:
Now a bit of a funny/interesting story here. First, let's see the screenshots and I'll explain:
Seems pretty standard here. But I decided to turn off wifi and data and keep using it a bit, just for texting and reading ebooks. And when the screen was off, I managed to get it into ~97% deep sleep. So, this was the final result before the battery died.
Almost a whole extra hour usage, and here is CPU Spy's report on Deep Sleep. However, this is not standard. If you're like me, you like using your phone a lot. So we won't count this last screenshot.
Time lasted: 9 hours and 6 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Standard again as usual, but screen time is a bit higher. Unfortunately as a user requested I forgot to take a screenshot of the screen time. I will do it for the next day though. In the meantime, get out your calculator, haha.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N-ICS (AOKP), with latest codeworkx kernel.
Day 4 [02/04/12]:
This is the fourth day result.
Screen time screenshot included as requested.
Time lasted: 7 hours 35 minutes.
Conditions of usage: Today's usage was not very standard at all. I used data almost constantly today, and played around with Cerberus which also consumed a bit of battery life through the GPS and data/wifi. Phone got pretty hot through the constant usage which I hear drains battery faster. I also watched some videos and flash videos too.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N-ICS (AOKP), with NEAK 2.0.1 kernel.
Day 5 [03/04/12]:
Unfortunately there won't be any screenshots for today. My phone crashed and somehow the battery usage got reset, so there's no point. There will still be a report for today as per usual of course.
Time lasted: From 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, the battery lasted me about 9 hours.
Conditions of usage: Not much to say really. Conditions were normal, and so was the time the battery lasted. ~9 hours, occasionally less, seem to be becoming standard.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N ICS (AOKP) with SiyahKernel v3.0rc2.
Day 6 [04/04/12]:
Here's the report for Day 6. And as you will see, wow, the results aren't standard at all. Also included is Battery Monitor's report on the measured mAh along with details for Screen time.
Time lasted: 7 hours and 2 minutes.
Conditions of usage: 7 hours isn't very standard at all. It's a pretty wide deviation from the norm, but my explanation for this is that I was very very bored. As you can see from the "Screen" time, it says 48% but I actually used it for 5 hours and 6 minutes, which is an astounding 72.5% of screen on time. I amaze myself sometimes. So data was always on but not constantly active, and I played some flash videos and even a flash game, and I was testing out GPS on HyDrOG3N ICS (which sucked at getting a lock-on) so all these factors drained my battery. I also watched some videos on my phone as well.
ROM info: HyDrOG3N ICS (AOKP) with SiyahKernel v3.0rc2.
So in conclusion:
This battery seems well worth it. I am very satisfied with the battery life, and if you are a person who likes to play with his phone a lot (games, Reddit all day, browse the internet), then I recommend this phone as it will last you a good amount of time without needing a charge.
I will be continuing to post updates and screen shots this week as I continue using this battery. Subscribe and look forward to it!

I bought one of these 3500mah batterys for $8.5 from Dealextreme and I am really happy.
My usage at work at times would be consistent to the point of telling the time by the battery percentage so I had a good baseline comparison test to do.
Under the stock battery running the FM Radio for 4 hours with no other use (I work midnights so no calls or anything) would consistently drain 21% of my battery.
With the 3500 it only drains 10% in the same time.
That works out to the battery working as advertised, slightly of double battery life for a battery that is slightly over double size.
It looks good for now, but please come back with a review in 3 months and we'll see how it fares

I'm using an extended 3500mah Spider-Foot since in August 2011.
My battery monitor measures it between 3100 to 3200 mAh. After 8 months of use I'm pretty happy. Costed $10 -
Maybe I'm missing the point why I should buy a 10x priced battery with approx same capacity?
Does it increase phone speed?
Well there must be a reason but I haven't figured it out yet.

I don't know if it's accurate, but the "Screen" percentage should tell you. Usually around 20% to 50% of the time my screen is on.

Thats why im asking how long. % doesnt really mean anything. Click the screen when you are viewing the battery stat. It should tell you how long it has been one for.
Well I just checked, and the percentage corresponds with the number of hours I've been on battery. No seriously, I went ahead and did some math and it was pretty close to the actual screen time value I get when I click it
So while I don't have a screenshot of screen time for Day 2, by my calculations, with 8 and a half hours and 40% screen on time, the actual number of hours is about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Look at how little time his phone is awake and his screen is on. That's maybe like 5% total out of 5 days, which is about 6 hours total. My phone gets that in one day if I'm really bored so it's still about the same amount of drain.
I use my phone a lot, as my sole entertainment device. Games, movies, Internet, whatnot. My usage is more realistic than his, however impressive 5 days is. I'm sure if I barely touched my phone I would have the same results. (97% deep sleep is usually achievable unless I'm using it)

Hello everyone. I was planning to buy the HTC One X, but heard few complaints about various functions and also battery life.
My thread is mainly regarding the battery life, but please also inform me if there are other issues i should be concerned about.
My main usage of the phone EACH Day will be:
1. Playback of 720p (or less) resolution video playback, about 1.5-2 hours.
I will try to set the brightness at a reasonable level, not too high not too low. Listen through Headphones (not the speaker)
2. Music playback, about 30 mins (through headphones)
3. 30-60 mins of games (using speakers)
4. 10 mins talk time over 2G
Note: I will only use 2G network. Wifi sometimes for browsing. Almost no network data usage. No account synchronization will be used at all. So basically in standby all network Data related connectivity will be off.
My question is how long will the phone last in total after a full 100% charge?
Hope to get an answer soon.
This is very hard to answer, because it depends on everyone usage scenarios.
But I can tell you that I have never come to the end of the day so far without at least 10% left. (6:30am - 11pm)

Well that's hard as it varies every day... Data usage quite a lot and brightness Auto. All I can say is it will last you a day.

Hey maybe I got the answer for you ! I'm an intensive phone user and my life time is about 2 days with juice defender ultimate but without just a 3 quart day so I have calculated and tested the results. You can if you wan't if you are an average phone user a max of 27 hours and a min of 10 hours .So I hope this will answer your question

Since my last charge I've done a days work. Used Twitter/Facebook/G+ for about an hour in total. Flashed a custom rom. 1hr of music, 2hr of gaming and downloaded just Over 2gb via wireless.
Battery now @ 42%. The screen usually accounts for 60-70% of a days consumption depending on brightness.

I did not quite understand you.
1.5-2hrs of video playback = 30-40% of battery (almost)
30-60 mins of high end games = 20-40 % of battery.
so it should survive a day with ease with this kind of usage.
I have installed android revolution HD (ics) on my rooted one x. The battery life has increased by like 3 or 4 hours over my stock Rom .
I use WiFi and 3g all the time and play some normal games like temple run, the battery works for 24hours.

Hello, for your daily usage, i would just say that you will have to charge it for sure.
Just #1 will take 80% or even more of the battery for sure ...
For intensive use like THD games you won't be able to charge during playing for sure too.
For your use, think about buying a galaxy note, the only one which can handle this "heavy" use, imo.
Hox is in my opinion the best compromise between screen size and confort / lifetime. Note is way too big ... Hox screen is better than S3 for me.
Hox+ is surely better ...

I charged my phone last night at around 10pm i took it off charge.
I have sent tonns of texts, made very long phone calls probably about 4 hours of calls today, played about and hour of music about 30mins on internet, took a few pics, recorded one video, played 10mins of games and the battery died around 7 30pm. also from 10pm to 1am the phone went from 100 to 86% then went to sleep woke at 8am it was still on 86%.
Battery life is totally user dependent, based on many factors including signal strength, type of data used, what's syncing, brightness and such. Generally I can get a full working day out of my phone and at times I can get it to last the whole night if I've not really used my phone through out the day.
If I think I need the extra life I'll just charge it at my desk whilst at work.

A bit old, but nontheless:
When I navigate with this device the battery slowly looses power. This means that even with the HTC official cables the device uses more than what the cable can give: 0,5 amp!
The device gets warm and, without cooling it via the car fan, it even stops filling the battery because it just gets too hot.
While navigating, I use: Flitsmeister (in background), iGO Primo, network 3g. Brightness is not full, since that heats the device extremely fast.
I sure would like a device that uses less power beneath 0,5 amp and has a larger battery and less consuming screen. (But I don't know any device that has with enough good features like HOX)
Oh and main feature: NO glass that sits on top of the device, meaning it will break as soon as it falls on its face!

Our devices use a 4600 mAh battery and was wondering if anyone ever actually sees that figure? I've been struggling to get more than 4-5 hours use and started investigating why. The highest I've ever seen on a full charge is 4309 and the average is about 4260-4280.
Another strange thing I've noticed is that if I start playing a game with 100% charge and the tab plugged in I still loose about 1% per minute.
I've tried multiple roms and they all seem about the same as far as battery usage goes. Right now I'm back to the stock LG KitKat as it seems to perform about the best for me and very stable. I use the battery calibration app and was wondering is there another that might work better?
In closing looking forward to any suggestions or advise

I just tried an experiment, 100% charged, unplugged tab w/o turning anything on and I already lost 7% in 15 minutes !! I have Greenify installed and all non system apps hibernated and it still eats the battery.
My Sero Pro can sit all day and only loose 1%. If I could be sure I would receive a perfect unit I would consider RMA. But after reading all the issues with the screen problems I'm not going to take the chance. My tab is perfect aside from battery life.
I found a replacement battery on Ebay and am considering buying it to see if I have a bad battery. Something definitely isn't right.
I went to Mahdi rom as soon as I got my tablet about 2 weeks ago. This past weekend I did two battery tests.
These tests were done with wifi always on (medium signal strength, most google apps synced, google location reporting off, no twitter/facebook app, no greenify or any power management apps
If I left the display on indoors at auto brightness, it lasted for about 7-8 hours.
If I left the tablet idle (display off), it consumed about 3% per day (most of it consumed by wifi).
I would suggest trying the same thing with yours and see whether its a hardware issue. You can just do it for a few hours and extrapolate.
I've never calibrated my battery (drain until its empty) unless I notice an erratic drain from a constant task.
Mine is the same, not being used it drains almost nothing. Currently mine is at 49%, been unplugged about 12 hours with 2:47 of screen on time according to the battery stats in settings. 100% stock KitKat, bluetooth off. 15 minutes of screen off (with the screen on long enough to look at battery settings) and no % lost.

Same. If I leave it in standby overnight, I see zero battery drain (in 8 hours). I also tested a full HD movie (1080p) in full screen at 45% brightness and medium loudspeaker volume, and measured roughly 12-14% drain per hour, which suggests it could run 7-8 hours of movie playback on a single charge.
I'm happy with my battery usage. I think it's at least as good as my 2012 N7.
Here's a screen shot of usage just reading the other day. Keep in mind I mainly stop my tablet charging at between 90-95% as often as possible.

I'm with the OP as far as battery drain goes. Mine loses almost 10% in 12 hours at idle with wifi on. With wifi off it'll lose about 3-4% in 12 hours. I haven't done a full to zero test, but battery life is not that great on my personal unit. That is the only thing I don't like about it. I'm running idterror's v50018a ROM.

Then you have an issue with software you installed. It is neither the battery nor the ROM.
Well I went ahead and ordered the battery. I'm fairly confident it'll solve my problem. To Subtleone, with my tablet even with a barebones install I still have real bad battery life. It does not change very much between barebones and all my apps installed.

Don't have any battery problems here (stock KitKat, rooted and most non-system apps greenified), get about 6 hours screen-on time at 70-100% brightness when reading books (wifi off) and an hour or so browsing/youtube'ing.
Are people actually going by unplug time until the device physically shuts down, or just what the battery bar claims? Battery stats are rarely 100% accurate, and there's protection measures built in to prevent a battery actually reaching 100% or 0% despite what the device says.

Except that I don't have terrible battery life. In fact, most don't. With KitKat (the one in my sig), with WiFi on, I get exactly 0% drain after 8 hours with it in standby (not actually off). Zero. Needless to say, I do not have any known battery killers such as the Facebook app.
At 45% brightness or so, I see about 13% battery drain after an hour of watching a 1080p movie in full screen with sound coming through loudspeakers.

Biggest battery eaters are apps like Google+ and Facebook.
UCCW and Weather apps too. Also having gps on.
There's some smashing eye candy apps for use and just for info on your lockscreen, they all seem to suck juice like no tomorrow. It's all the updating they do.
Best advice is to use something like wakelock detector to highlight your problem apps, then use greenify to get them to sleep properly. Also have your wifi set to only stay on when your tablet is plugged in.

To test a lot of theory I loaded up stock LG KitKat this A.M. . After letting it install and rebooting 3 times in 60 minutes I turned off WIFI and GPS and left it idle. In 4 hours and 12 minutes I was at 79%. Keep in mind when I left it idle the last time I was at 100%.
So at least in "my" case its most certainly not the software. My battery is scheduled for delivery 5/9/14. I'm hoping that will solve the battery issues.
Once I receive the new battery I'll update the thread. And thanks for the replies

There's some smashing eye candy apps for use and just for info on your lockscreen, they all seem to suck juice like no tomorrow. It's all the updating they do.

My GPS is always on so I do not think it drains battery in any unusual way. I'll also add that it works darn well. I used the tablet for navigation in a car and it was impressive.
So to continue the theories I put my screen @ 50% watched 60 minutes of 1080p video via MX Player and lost 31%! That's totally bare aside from MX Player. So after seeing Subtelone's results I'm very convinced I indeed have a bad battery.
I know it's not a fair comparison but I've been using my mum's Acer W4 tablet as my 8.3 is being repaired for bad LCD (mura/spots). The W8.1 tablet actually gives me about 8-9 hours of web browsing time. Yes, it's got fewer pixels to push but bear in mind it is running the full fat Windows 8! I just think it's quite disappointing that the LG pad for me barely lasts 4 hours SOT when I mainly use it for web browsing.

Yes, something is seriously wrong with your battery if everything else is identical. My results are exactly as posted.
