Hello Guys, 1st post. I attempted a search but to be honest it didn't do much for me.
Last night I watched QBKing77's video on how to root without a computer, feeling confident I could successfully root based on the instructions. I obtained all the files and apps I needed only to find that Gingerbreak isn't compatible with ei22. Is there a never version that is? Where would I find this?
Also I will tack this on to eliminate clutter on the boards, I have recently started to have a problem with the stock music player, it skips on playback from time to time, like a cd that is scratched would. It happens even if the music player is the only running program. It just started doing this, the past few days, why do you think that is? How can I fix it? Do you need more details to give me an answer?
Thanks guys
Do you have a computer by any chance? You don't need a computer to be on ei22. To root is very easy now. As far as your audio playback, download a different music app in the market.

I have a mac, will that present any problems?
Ooh, yeah...macs don't get along with linux systems. I believe there is a clockwork mod 5 coming very soon that will help with the mac users somehow, but if a macs all you have for now, I would borrow a friends pc.

Thats what I figured, thanks for the help.

I am regretting that I updated to Froyo from sprint because now when I open up an App that involves music a few things happen. First if I open slacker and close it when I'm done then later in the day use the mp3 player app (stock/or from market) slacker will start while the mp3 playing and vice versa. Another thing that really grinds my gears, is that when using the mp3 player (stock or after market) The song will speed up really fast and go through 4 songs in like 15 seconds. This is really flustering me because I want to sell my Itouch because I have this phone but know I am not sure if i really wanna do that. Any suggestions or should I just do a little searching and root 2.2 so I can flash a different version a 2.2 that you guys have provided?
Thanks in advance,
jiggajoe
P.s. If someone already reported this issue sorry I tried searching before posting but did not find it.

firstly - check the sticky at the top of this section. There is no way to root 2.2 yet.
Having said that, I don't think what your describing is normal, even for stock froyo. If you're still within your 30 days, you might want to think about trying to exchange it.
Been trying for 2 weeks to get hulu audio to work..I'm running cm2..videos play great but audio is so slow it sounds like demons..I've tried everything and it still sounds possessed..10 dollars to the one who helps me fix this..I've already flashed and reflashed hulu app and flashfixed many times..also tried different roms..thanks for anyone that helps in figuring this out
did you install the custom flash apk? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752582
yes i did, video plays great then in the video it says in caption this video not optimized for mobile, and the the demon talking..any other ideas??
I cant offer a solution, but I can certainly back up your claims. I have the exact same slowed down audio with nearly perfect video. I downloaded the hulu app and new flash (same zip file) as well.

I'm demon'ed
i read that the incredible had alot of this issue in my quest to find a fix and skyraider actually put a fix into him rom..but still have found nothing to help with my evo..come on guys theres gotta be someone to help us with this??
I've got the same issue.
Running the 8/26 cm6 nightly.
yea im running nightlys too now from rc2.. tried other roms and still no luck..this is like an obsession now with me lol..ive been able to fix evrything i ever needed to fix and now im stuck on this..been online reserching non stop and still cant find anything..there has to be some kind of fix????
I'm rooted now, but tentative about trying ROMs without finding out about why WMA and WMV files work on my Dinc2. They DO work on the stock Dinc2; They did NOT play on my rooted D1.
I know a bit about Linux and the issues with driver and codec licensing. Will custom ROMs come with the codec and player to support these files? Or is this something nice that Verizon does for us ... licensing the codecs?
Why do I care? My voice mail service now emails messages to me -- in win media format.

since youre rooted, just boot into clockwork and make a backup of your current rom. then flash a new rom, and check to see if it plays wma and wmv. if not, either try another rom, or go back into clockwork and restore your backup of your original rom. I really dont see why people are so nervous about trying new roms, devs make it easy to go back to what works in case you have a problem with something.
I should of expected that answer. I toyed with many ROMs on the ole D1. This thing is just so shiny.
Still, if anybody has looked into this, please let me know.
My wife has an X unrooted and it also plays Windows media. Maybe I'm making all this up and the issue was somehow the D1. It just seems there should be a software-related answer.
Anyway...I'll find candidate ROM over the weekend and post my findings.

I just use VPlayer. It plays pretty much any files I have and it's easier than trying to get a stock ROM to play a format that's not natively supported. Then you're free to try/use whatever ROM you want.
I working with the CM7 beta and I am having mixed success.
First, it plays my voicemail. But I was wrong... My voicemail comes in a WAV file. CM7 plays the WAV file.
However it does not play a WMA file that I had ripped from a CD.
If I need that old CD I invest in the player you mentioned.

I purchased this A100 last week and I love it. My only issue is that when playing any video from YouTube (whether from the website or the integrated app) it takes a long time to load (buffer) or even play at all. I know it isn't my connection cause when I play the same video on my Galaxy SII skyrocket or my ipad 2 it plays fine without the excess load time.
I have the latest update and have updated my build.prop file to mimic the A500 (note I had this issue with the original build.prop too)
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thank god im not the only one noticing this. I thought I was going crazy. I have to turn "HD" off in any video just to watch it. And it looks like crap. well now that I know its a known issue and not just me I'll start seeing what I can do to fix it.
EDIT: Browsing around it looks like this is a common issue on both the Xoom and Epad Transformer

could one of you that is having the youtube app issue please try out the attached build.prop and let me know if it helps. Its different than the one from the dev section, i includes some extras for app compatibility and its using a different method (although I dont know if it works or not) for streaming stuff.
I tried the You Tube app. that came with the A100 and it fully loaded in 5 seconds, I tried about 10-12 different videos from the most popular section. The average load time per video was 3-5 seconds and I played full screen, some were very good quality; some were ok, none were terrible or skipped frames or sound. One video did take 10 seconds to load and midway it stopped and was buffering for about 5 seconds. I replayed it, the second time it loaded in 3 seconds and played without buffering.
I was using a clock for timing purposes not guessing, I don't know if this is considered good or bad. It seemed ok to me.
Edit: I tried a review of the movie SALT and on the tablet it bufferred for 14 seconds six different times, then I tried it on my Fascinate phone and it was flawless from beginning to end, so in comparison that tablet did badly.

Trying now
EDIT: Tested on a few videos and I want to say it helped but it could just be placebo affect. Will continue to try and see. Seems like it helps a bit though

I loaded this version of the build.prop and so far so good. I have tested with the bulit-in YouTube app with several videos now and I'm not getting the buffering for minutes prior to playing a video. I will report more findings if I come across anything.
Thanks again

Hi XDA, sorry for posting in the nooby section but I cant post in the actual thread this would be relevant to because I don't have enough posts. Anyway, I have been rooting unlocking and flashing etc. phones for quite a while and up until now, the guides and comments have been enough.
My issue now is that when I connect my optimus g that has been flashed to the Kit Kat 4.4 rom, my computer will only recognize it as a camera, and I cant copy any of my music or other files I would like to from my computer. I have my ideas about why this is, but if I knew why it was happening I would have already fixed it! So anyway, if somebody is having the same problem or has some sort of imput, it would be much appreciated
Sorry if this thread is not in the right board, I cant post to the developer forums yet! :crying:
Thanks a whole lot!
PS. Is there a way to get the camera focus to work at this point? Its not a deal breaker for me but it would make the rom a 10/10 as opposed to an 8/10
Are you running a windows, Mac or Linux computer? I've seen threads that Mac has a problem with it, and USB switcher from the play store will fix it. It's worth a shot!
As for the camera focus, it focuses the first time you open the app, but afterwards it doesn't focus until the task is killed. There's a work around in the PSX rom forum using the app Tasker that should help you out
Hope I helped!

I am looking for an answer as well. Right after flashing aosp kitkat my labtop running windows 7 would no longer recognizes my phone. It will only slow charge. If i uninstall all of the usb drivers on my computer and plug the phone in a bunch of times it will actually work like 1 out of200 tries.

Thanks for the response! I am using a PC running windows 8, and I have done what the other guy said and sometimes is recognizes it but most of the time it doesn't.
Also, my camera seems to be working fine now and focusing, but when I use an app like instagram or snapchat, it won't focus and is really slow and blurry, almost like it is only taking in half the fps it normally would.
If anyone has some input that would be awesome!
