I just wanted to provide a back to reality moment:
Our phones are nice, they are fine the way they are. Sure we all want CM, and other new roms to load that are above 2.3.5, but before things get crazy about ICS, just remember to be happy now. It might save you a lot of anger and frustration later.
Any-who, back to the histeria. PS - don't harass rom developers. It's like when you were a kid and you begged for a toy at the store. You only achieved annoying everyone around you, and all you got for it was a smack in the head.

So your saying we shouldn't be excited to move beyond gingerbread? Im happy with my phone but I know as development moves forward our phones will get much better!

I agree. Let the Ice Cream drop when it drops.
The bounty is still there and I'm still willing to donate. That should push the Sandwich early.

Pretty sure some of the guys in the developement section would argue this.

lol smh, their working on it, some people just refuse to be patient, we have one of the best, if not the best devices out now(and will be for a while), great battery, top of the line screen(better then the iphone 4s, and yes i've compared them side by side), easy root process, great roms(which constantly are updated), nice themes, plenty mods and fixes, i mean what is there to complain about, LOS??? yea i had it a few times but haven't had it in a while, everything won't be perfect on every phone.....we will get ICS, just enjoy what u have until then

Does the 5 second rule apply to ice cream? I vote yes.

No, what I'm saying is that if you can't do it yourself be happy with what you have until it is ready. If one cannot wait perhaps they should try a different phone. People expect their device to have developers in tow as if it were a Nexus device. This isn't common to only our device. If people really want ICS, a Nexus 4G can be had on eBay for 180 bucks.

Unless you develop stuff yourself, yes. What else are you in control of regarding when it gets a custom anything.
Do I want ICS, hell yes. Can I wait? Well I have to. If I want to be on the edge of custom roms, my choice on Sprint, is the Nexus S 4G.
This isn't a hard concept. You'll only cause yourself grief obsessively wondering if and when it will be here.
ASOP ICS doesn't mean we will now magically have roms. We had ASOP Gingerbread, and but no CM7 alpha public release. What's changed?
This is just a tip to grasp the now, and look forward to the future without loosing sight of the difference between a need and a want.

well im not one of the people so anxious for a CM release or ice cream
i just get a lil perturbed when people use the "if you cant make a rom yourself" excuse....
Im pretty sure 90% of the people on here cant begin to make a rom,which is the whole reason why most are on these forum in the first place

That is CM7, not the ICS version. Also doesn't answer what other devs will bring.

there are unofficial ports that are being worked on
but official from source might be CM9
unless some one here beats them to it

I dunno, you may be right. I know the CM team is actively working on it, that's more than I can say for any of the devs here. I mean, I could start to expect it from Team Kang but they've been a little silent on the issue.
I don't believe we have anyone that can just use the source to make it work on the T989 though. I believe everyone will need to use a base from somewhere else. I think we'll see it pretty soon after another device does.
I don't know anything though, this is just what my foolish brain tells me.

Like others have already said, nobody knows for sure. Though it's very likely that cm9 will be the first ics rom available on our devices. There aren't a lot of devs that build from source, and if they do, they usually use cm as their base. Not saying there aren't talented people here...that's just what I've seen.
I took a crack at compiling from source, but with 3 kids and a fulltime job, my time is limited. There's a lot that needs to be done...

You forget that ics came out 3 - 4 weeks ago. Building a rom takes patience, time, and testers. Not magic.

ICS progress for the samsung SGS2 LTE

Im loving the development work that is going on for our beautiful TMobSGS2, but I'm surprised I havent seen a ICS port yet, especially with the Galaxy Nexus images being released.
Is anyone working on this in secret, or are there any other ICS roms that happen to work on our phone?
I would truly just love a rooted stock ICS rom. thats my dream at the moment. I dont know how to improve on ICS except switches in the notification bar, which is easy enough.

I doubt we will have a good working ICS before atleast a month from now. That is if we even get a stable one.

ICS came out two weeks ago on galaxy nexus...if you really want it then buy a galaxy nexus.

Are there going to be any pure ics roms made for galaxy s2. Currently using a vibrant with pure ics running, love pure ics just want a faster phone. Saw recent video running ics on galaxy s2 with no visible changes nothing like nexus. I suppose it its because of touch wiz. Is there a dev working on pure ics like what is on nexus? Trying to figure which phone to get. Thanks for your comments in advance.

There should be some roms soon. Best you may be able to hope for is a CM based rom. Not pure ICS but pretty close

at least he tried. we lack super devs that some other devices have but I hate seeing someone get flamed for trying to do something when people flamming just sit on xda and leach peoples work with no appreciation and troll around just making some of these threads a horrid place.

Welcome.
This is a merging of my old thread in Q/A and a new thread to show the communities support for Sense 4.0 on the E4GT. Swamp goblin is the lead dev currently working on the project. Ok this i got to see. Porting Htc software to a Samsung device would be near impossible. And if by some miracle it boots it will never be fully stable. This i gotta see to believe.

I have a few things to clarify, not being rude I just dont want people to have the wrong idea..
1) That message about progress was regarding sense 2.1, I have had bad luck repacking kernels so im waiting for source to be released before working on sense 4..
2) This phone is really giving me a challenge. I like that, but at the same time its drawing development out longer than I had hoped.
3) Ive been quiet. I have to finish strong in school and balance work, so lately Ive been reducing my slacking, leaving me less free time.
4) I'm not the only dev working on this; I'm the only dev dedicating 100% of my development time towards sense. I like working alone, but TCP and xboxfanj have been helping me out a ton along the way.
Sense is going to be awesome. I hate eta's, but I am working on this whenever I can.

soo...i was trying to get to our android development at work. and i wandered into the original epic's A.D. and saw they have an alpha for sense 4 that has call data and texts working...and it looks pretty nice. i was just wondering if someone could try this out on our device? bc i think it would be badass. and im sure a bunch other people would also...here is the link to the original epics sense, if you wanted to check it out

we should be getting an alpha eventually here. Swamp goblin is working on it, he is a pretty busy guy though. He just got out of school and he says he will be working in it now that he has some more time. Just do a search. There is a WIP thread called show you support for sense 4.

Now that swamp goblins outta school we should be getting some sense love. I was checking out his ns4g sense ports and that dudes a porting beast, like TCP and all of his awesome AOSP ports. Those 2 just amaze me at how fast they can port roms. SG dropped like 3 sense ports on ns4g in one day and TCP ported a ton of updates for the AOSP roms one afternoon, left me like how the hell did he port them that damn fast
So keep your eye on swamp goblin I'm sure we will be rocking sense from him in the not so distant future :thumbup:
