[Q] Becoming a DEV?

I want to become a dev and start participating in making roms. Are there any guides/tutorials on how to do that? I tried Google but nothing very usable.

Make a start by using dsixda kitchen and extracting firmware

I want to be a dev too... and guess what... xD I just finished my first continued ROM... Like in android development there is like... BeautySense v2... I have made v3 For now i just changed to cm 7.2 phiexz with old libaudio included... with s2e and a2sd working, changed bootanimation, last kernel of phiexz... more smother... but i want to improve theme... it is a bit laggy...
Learned how to change build prop... updater scrip, etc...
I really want to post this ROM in android development and i want to do more versions of that rom really
I think that is a start for me

you may help me with improving speed or something, but I dont allow you to publish my rom(beatysense),without permission with another bootanim, kernel, old libs and some speed optimizes...
you can assist me or just keep it for yourself, but not take credit without having permission.

you may help me in beatysense development.
the part of making such thing as starter is a bit hard, as it requires some skill...
try taking a rom as base that is a
ready stock but .zip flashable
and modify that to your liking, but keep it for yourself, and test with features like adding new apps, superuser, themes on your own rom without publishing etc, so you will get better at it.

Thank you so much... But now its another big problem xDD... stock kernel... i think its a little hard to find ... no... or i can just like... use another custo kernel like from phiexz or something ?

Custom kernels made for stock based will work
Use latest PX-kernel from phiexz.com , the stock version ofcourse

Well it should be compatible as both are same except for branding - i would suggest you try out as even if anything goes wrong you can flash back via odin

Okay , maybe it's because i leave in french and it's the only models they sell here .. i will try during this weeks.

I own an S5369 and I tried every rom and kernel out there
Every rom is working
S5369 is just vodafone branded
No other difference!!!

As alemad say you can try all thinks for 5360 on 5369.its only a branding in germany we have it too.no problem.

Okay so ive done it, kind of.
I ported the Galaxy S III JB to our phone, XS
Im nearly there, but as far as i get is the launcher or the pin entry, and the boot animation just starts again, and it does this over and over.
Any one got any ideas where i went wrong?

Okay so this is as far as ive gotten.
It shows the boot animation, gets as far as pin entry and loops. And as ADB doesnt work till android starts, i cant get any further.
Anyone else who has some time and know how willing to help, here's the ROM

Lol no i wish it was that easy.
Even with no sim, it gets as far as showing the launcher for a split second and restarts.
I was told in one of the porting forums that it is because of framework but like I say I cant debug it as logs only start in android, not at boot

Can you tell me in detail which ROM you have used as base and which ROM you have used for porting?
And further which folders you have deleted, which lib files you have replaced, any changes you have made to the framework??

If anyone didnt know bazooka launcer wich avatar rom is using works fine on locked bl, even without root i guess and can be downloaded from play store even lock screen chages automaticaly witch i never seen on regulare launchers from the store .. Yust for info, i tryred it but its not my taste, i would more like an aokp/ Cm port - hydrid on LBL

Im using FXP201-cm-10-20130103-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi( http://ul.to/f/e16c1u) as a base and cm-1.0b_16_20121221_i9300 (http://avatarrom.com/wp-content/uploads/JellyBean/cm-1.0b_16_20121221_i9300.zip), which is the Samsung Galaxy S 3 JB Rom, from the Avatar ROM
I followed rishabh.raj37s' guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008) ...
so APP, FONTS, FRAMEWORK and MEDIA are what I moved from port to base,
copied parts from init.d and permissions that needed to be copied from port to base,
Edited the build.prop as the guide says, and the updater script...And copied the Cameradata folder from port to base.
And thats about it

Thanks, I tried this but unfortunately when i do this it doesnt even loop, it just keeps showing the boot animation and goes no further

Would be awesome If they do get it working, I would love to find out how they did it so that I can learn more about porting, and port other ROMs...I would really love to do it alot more

Very true sir! But apparently the themes for it are alot more "interactive" than a normal theme.
But in the long run I guess it isnt really worth it...but we can still try...like i said vefore if i can just learn how to address bootloops, i will try to port many other roms

try to port from galaxy nexus and not S3 ,, the most you get closer to xperia S hardware the less bug you get !!

Hello friends i need your help .. i am girl and newbie.. i used huawei ideos x6 ..last night i got HTC one v ( INDIA , gsm )which in jelly bean 4.0.1 .. i tried to flash
[AOSPA 4.2.2 JDQ39] PARANOIDANDROID 3.1x [beta][08/03/2013]... as i know just some functions only my previous mobile ..so same like that i flashed ... but it stuck in front page then nothing ...
what i do .. even i don't know it is rooted or not ( but when i brought from my friend so it was in jelly bean .) so please help me .......

first of all your one v which is in 4.0.1 is not jelly bean.
now reply these qn.
1. is it unlocked? ( to check that you can turn off phone then start via pressing power button and volume down key simultaneously it will show bootloader screen)
2. Is recovery installed (when you are on bootloader u can click on recovery)
3. have you flashed 4.2 kernel?

First of all I've never heard of android 4.0.1 running on one v. It shipped with 4.0.3
Also, did you flash the correct kernel? Without that the ROM won't boot

HTC has something called a boot locker...did u unlock it...
Do u have a custom recovery other than stock....drivers installed?

I had following problems when i updated to 5.6 rom.
1) i cant change animation of the home screen and all apps menu screen. Also i cant hide unwanted apps. I think 4.4 had it. when i went for settings it showed settings for google now.
2) when i made shortcut of the apps stored in sd card and reboot the device the shortcuts seen missing.
2) Facebook contacts, calenders, images are not getting sync.
3) and when i tried to fix it using this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064859 and restarted the call log service is not working, it showing call logis empty
4) after that when my battery drain out and restarted, it rebooted and showed the first basic configuration setting such as adding cyngm account, wifi setting etc. after that reboot my all apps stored on SD card is not showing.
5) also showing when i reboot my device " unfortunately google .gapps stopped"
Plz fix it .. this version is rocking ..increased speed. great graphics ..

Vibrate on call answer issue..
Using latest build and the vibrate on call answer is not working probably even not giving any Vibrate feedback. Please fix in next build.

Multisim toggle
Hello I'm new here I would like to thank this great team for there great hard work I'm using v5.6 without any problems.. Almost two weeks only I have problems when I install another themes I planned not to do because the one that this rom have is nice.
I have small thing to share which I found in xda developers fourm it's a multisim toggle that is the only thing needed to use for multisim switch I used it without any problems thanks for the developer who made it you can find it here blog*shubhangrathor*com/multisim-toggle/index*html

In wifi option there is a wifi direct option but whn i receive a file frm anthor device cant get. its failed can anyone help me...

At least once in a day 'Vibrate on touch' is switching on automatically. I have to manually switch off this setting. Pls help me friends.

u have to enable usb debugging in ur device and if u r using windows then terminal means cmd!!
search the web for 'how to enable adb! follow the instructions from there! u'll have to download android sdk and java on ur computer!

Hello All,
This is a great forum, that i recently found. By using helpful resources, i rooted my samsung galaxy grand and updated 4.4.4 kitkat..
Now my question is can i turn it samsung galaxy s5 interface by installing any other rom!
Totally new this tech subjects..

I think we need to wait to enjoy the treat of lollipop in our device..... Pawitp sir has ported cm11 for our device.... Alot of thanks for this.... .... Again we have to wait till cm team port lollipop to cm12....as this process will take some extra time as developers are having some root issues with the android lollipop final sdk.... So just wait and hope for the best....

You can install any third party theme of galaxy s5 to look like.... Or you may install touch whiz revolution rom which is modified official firmware..

I updated my samsung galaxy grand duos i9802 to 4.4.4

just follow the instructions provided by op CAREFULLY !!
alternatively u can search youtube!! there are many video tutorials available for flashing roms on grand duos!

i think flashing either of these roms will revert back ur android from 4.4.4 to 4.2.2 !!

Is this rom official and does the screen recorder and radio work on this rom? Also does it hae the new cm11 theme engine integrate in it?

This rom is based on cm11... In built screen record doesn't works on this rom.... To use radio use spirit fm... It works like charm.... And yes, this rom has new theme engine....
