Today I noticed my 3G speed has taken a huge hit. I am getting numbers that are absolutely terrible. I used to be able to stream YT videos with very little delay, load web pages fairly quick, etc. My 3g used to pull close to 1000kbps, sometimes more. I have been using WiFi alot over the past few weeks so I havent noticed this issue until now.
It seems like its only an issue with the download speed, upload seems fine. I was thinking about updating to the latest radios but there were people having issues after flashing them so I put those off. Should I do that anyways?
Is there anything else I can do to improve these speeds? I'm not sure what happened but my 3g download was never this bad.

I flashed the latest radios. It is doing slightly better (about 50-100kbs more). This is still very much slower than what it used to be able to pull. The market feels like its crawling for me.
Besides flashing radios, is there anything else I can do?
I am getting the same thing you guys are getting. My phone has been staying at 1x pretty much of the day. Thought it was the rom so I started all over again. Turns out it wasnt, so all that BS for nothing. I am the DFW area just FYI and I wonder if it an areal thing. But it does piss me oft!!!!!
I live in Southern Cali. I'm not on 1x though. My signal strength is where it normally is at too.

OK so I know that we are not talking about a full fledged PC but there is a pretty big speed difference in the downlink speeds between my home PC and my Evo on Wi-Fi:

Evo on same WiFi network:
Can't figure out why the big speed difference. Anywhere from almost a quarter to a tenth of the speed of my PC. Just wondering.
On a note, it might be worth mentioning I movied around the house and the phsycial position of hte phone relative to the router did not seem to make a difference. Being 5 feet away was not any faster than being on the opposit end of the house.
I have the exact same problem. My phone goes 3mbps slower than a pc on the same network (down from 6mbps).
my laptop gets about 26mpb but the gets like 20mpb.. i dont see this as being bad at all..
Looks like you have cable. Maybe the speedboost isn't working for the Evo. You know with speedboost your internet connection isn't necessarily that fast its just something time warner does to give you temp high speeds. That's definitely not your sustained download speed.

Hey guys, I just got a sprint Galaxy S II (Epic 4g touch) and I previously had a EVO and it seems like the galaxy s2 has really slow 4g speeds compared to my evo. I was able to get 6-8 Mbps downloads on 4g on the evo but on the epic 4g, I only seem to be able to get half of that (3-4 Mbps) in the same locations. Anyone else have this same issue with the phone?
no, but isn't 3-4 just as good as 6-8mb if you are streaming, browsing. I figure you wont see that much of a differnece is 3-4mb is plenty fast enough. I good 4g coverage I get anywhere from 4-8.
I just did a SpeedTest and got 7.5 Mbps download which is pretty good for me. I don't expect much more than that.
Also your download speeds constantly change depending on location and overall network traffic.
I come from Verizon and even their awesome LTE network speeds fluctuate quite a bit. A few day ago I only got about 4 Mbps down at a certain point during the day.
No network is perfect.

Indoor at my home (SoCal) all from 4G and the last is Wifi
I am in hollywood, one of the first 4g areas, and I am 1500kbps down. I am about to loose it, as I just got this phone an hour ago.
I recently got a plan with lte. I'm using tasks jb rom which is pretty decent. But on data it seems to deplete 1 percent every 2.5 or so minutes. Not watching anything but just browsing the Web.
Is that normal?

Welcome to LTE. Yes it can. That's the reason why some people would prefer not to have LTE at all. It's a huge battery drainer.
Browser uses more battery than LTE data does.
LTE + Browser =

Damn that sucks. I don't even need these speeds. I guess I'll limit it to HSPA or 2G, thanks for the replies.
Yes....LTE will kill your battery. Totally worth it. Lol

Yeah man, everyone has basically got it correct. What you gotta do is just try to use wifi when possible. I'm in college so I have wifi everywhere. Or just keep your charger on you at all times. If you have flashed your phone, JusTUNbean does a great job of creating an inverse GAPPS that saves so much battery.
Really? Inverted Gapps saves that much?
Is it because the blacks are truly black aka no active pixels?
Picked up a kyocera torque. Too bad I can't find a root guide anywhere for it yet. The e4gt is a much nicer phone. The torque's radio seems much better though. This is a speed test I did while near a lte tower.

That isn't its usual speeds but thought it would be cool to show. Mods, I'm still loyal to the e4gt, I was just doing a little show and tell.
What is this abomination that you speak of !! :what::what::screwy:

LTE in Hollywood where is that at so I can test it out myself
Hi Oscar. Thank you for the show and tell. It might best be suited in the pub though, as users will complain that they do not even have an LTE device. Anythng goes in the pub, and they love talking there. :victory::silly:
Sorry.
I've bought my N5x 8 months ago, and I've never achieved more than 3h+ screen time.
After upgrading to nougat, nothing changed. So that's why I'm starting a new thread
At this point, I dont really know what to do. I've tried disabling Ok google, location, nothing changed.
Here are some tests

Some tests from today. I've charged the phone yesterday, left it, and then used it today for 1h straight
I was thinking to buy a new battery, or maybe I've read that the G2 battery which has more mAh fits too.
In android there aren't tests which indicate the real capacity of batteries like on Windows/Linux PCs
I was always on 3G btw.
I don't know much I would say it's the data connection taking up too much, or maybe you don't get good reception and the phone keeps trying to get it, judging that by the red lines I see I the bar graph thingy.
I've recently changed my mobile provider but no changes at all
Restart your phone and delete cache
Already wiped my phone days ago... Nothing changed at all
Another test, this time, I've disabled REALLY everything, from app syncronization, location history, location set to OFF
But the battery life is still awful enough! I've got barely 3h of screen (charging it a bit, so we are between here)
