[ROM][JAN 10] G2 Slim v1.6 -- OTA 2.16.531.5 NO BLOAT!!

The purpose of this ROM was to make the fastest, smoothest and best battery life ROM out there. With the newest TMO radio, which was packed with this ROM, i get 2 full days battery life. (im in california, individual results may vary on location.)
I am also minimalist and hate anything unnecessary on my cell. I needed a way to "clean" install the newest OTA and pick and choose the apps that i really need. soooo.....
I stripped pretty much everything out of it for speed and efficiency. I get 250+ mb free ram on boot.
Features
This ROM is based off the newest 2.16 OTA update, rooted, and with all bloat removed. It is completely stock, except for the addition of launcher pro
All unnecessary apps removed, get what you want from the market
All stock ringtones removed
All notification sounds removed
All stock wallpapers and live wallpapers removed
All but smallest alarm sound removed
All TTS removed except for US english (can be easily installed in settings, voice input/output, install voice data)
Launcher2 replaced with launcher pro
Official ROM size 117mb, G2 Slim 72mb
To add your own ringtones//notifications create thier appropriate folders on the root of your SD card:
media/audio/notifications
media/audio/ringtones
compatible audio files will show up in your settings

Radio
The recommended radio for this ROM is the newest Vision_Radio_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19
which was also packed with this ROM and when used together offer the best battery life.

Installation
It is recommended that you flash SuperWipeG2+ before flashing any ROM. This will erase all of your phone's data. The files on your SD Card will not be erased.
1.Download SuperWipeG2+ext4 (Recommended) and the G2 Slim ROM below, and place both of the .zip files on the root of your SD Card.
2.Assuming Clockwork Recovery is already installed, hold the Volume Down button and press the Power button to boot up your phone. Keep the Volume Down button held down until you are greeted with a white screen with skateboarding Androids on the bottom.
3.Press Volume Down once to highlight "RECOVERY" and press Power.
4.Once in recovery, use the trackball to hover over "install zip from sdcard". Click with the trackball to select this option.
5.Select "choose zip from sdcard".
6.Select "-=SuperWipeG2+ext4=-.zip" and "Yes - Insall -=SuperWipeG2+ext4=-.zip". Let the installation run; once finished, it will automatically reboot into recovery.
7.Scroll down to "advanced" and click.
8.Select "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and "Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache"
9.Once completed, press the back button to return to the recovery's main menu
10.Select "install zip from sd card", "choose zip from sd card", "G2slim1.x.zip", and "Yes - Install G2slim1.x.zip"
11.Once completed, press back again to return to the main menu
12.Select "reboot system now"

I was thinkin about deodexing, I read online about the pros and cons of odex and deodex.
I came up with odexed is a lil faster, but cannot be themed. I need to read more, wut do u guys think??

I was under the impression 90% of roms are de-odexed/zipaligned, odexing for space and zipaligned for performance (but I think benefit of zipaligning is negligible?)

All I gather from your links is that de-odexing is detrimental for modification purposes and as you're building a stock rom I'm not really following your logic! But anyway, its not important, thanks for posting.

well his logic is correct for a stock minimalist ROM, but I am still not sure it is worth the performance increase on first boot only after a dalvik cache wipe to permanently prevent any cool theme that might come along, a theme that might be minimalist in and of itself.

Made a couple of mod's for the battery using the UOT kitchen, just sharing:
Dial

Install using clockwork or 4ext.

Thanks for those battery mods, ive been using "dial" for the past couple days, and its great. i was thinkin on making a slim v1.1 and adding some things, but i think ima leave this rom as is and bone stock.
I do plan on making a new custom rom in the next couple days and ima use this rom as the base.

only real benefit of leaving a rom odexed is a faster boot time,and maybe some performance gain here and there, but bare noticeable, thats about it.

The purpose of this ROM was to make the fastest, smoothest and best battrey life ROM out there. Even if the gains are maginal, they still are gains over all the rest of the ROMs out there.
on a side note, dude siul much respect to have you comment in my thread. id rather hear about the odex/de-oxed stuff from a real dev, instead of a link.

If your talkin about the battery mods, save them to your sd card. boot into recovery and choose flash from zip. You flash right over the rom and it updates the framework

Hello all, While developing for the HD2 & S2, we (af974 and me) though it would be nice to bring some HyperDroid love for my Galaxy Tab as well.
We have been using this ROM for the past weeks and I though it was very selfish of me not to share here at XDA.
This ROM is intended for my personal use, the ROM was never built with the intention of being released, please take that into consideration before requesting or reporting bugs. This is a shared work from af974 and me with you guys. I hope you find it as joyful as we have.

Flashing Instructions
Download the zip file to your PC and compare the md5 sum. If it is the same as the one provided above the download link, please continue.
Please make a nandroid backup before flashing
Do an extra backup of your /EFS folder.
Flash the zip file thru CWM Recovery
When Rom starts, go through Android Settings, then select your desired launcher (I use Launcher Pro)
Open up Spare Parts Application and uncheck compatibility mode.
Now give your TAB about 5 minutes without any tasks. Yeah, go drink water, whatever, just dont touch it so it finishes its background processes without issues (media scanning is taking place in background, to check , do an adb logcat).
Now reboot, and then you can go on and setup your tab.
*Note that the ROM is dark themed. If you dont like the theme, feel free to theme it, I use it this way, so its not coming from me, sorry.
**Note that the ROM is very light weighted.
***If you use another launcher different than Samsung Home Stock Launcher, freeze it using Titanium Backup (it is always running in background and eating up resources)
****Download GPS STatus & Toolbox from Android Market Place to download agps data.
*****Do a Defragmentation of your internal and external sd cards for it to be read faster.

look at the pictures he placed in the second post you can see that it is based on JQ8. It is a nice clean and fast firmware, i just installed it and i am still playing around, first impression is very good, smooth and fast, theme looks clean and fancy

Thanks, did the simunlock function worked for you? It works flawlessly here but still want some feedback

It is based on JQ8.
This new kernel was made by me only for testing purpose, actualy i changed only initramfs and removed some governors.
Kernel version in setting does show v. 1.0 because it is nbased on that version.
As Doc said i will update thread kernel soon.

Now comes with CApps and NApps along with RApps.zip update packages. Caulkulins Camera and MMS. New "S Voice" patch *(comes as an update package now)* revised by Mijjah74 and ecooce, (removes old voicetalk and vlingo.apks and adds all support files),BEATS audio by Dre, new version includes Google Play with Beats theme, SGS3 sounds/ringtones... First, I nor any Team ERA member will take responsibility for any damage that may or may not follow after flashing this ROM or any ROM add-on's. We are here to help though, Enjoy!
Some of you may remember the Frankenstein ROM series from a team member named ecooce, well he wanted to share his side project of an FF02 ROM, Frankenstein's FIFO2...
This ROM is deodexed and based on FE22 with many many tweaks. Built with battery in mind, this ROM surely is not slow, and actually is snappy in every area. If any of you see a problem please post in this thread and I or a team member will be happy to help. Your probably wondering why you havnt seen ecooce around, well he is still banned, the reasons dont matter, just know he can see this thread and can provide help by relaying the info between team members.
So onto the goodies and what comes with the ROM. There will be the main ROM that can be ran as is, there will also be several update.zips that can be flashed in recovery (el26 for now to be safe, which needs to be odined,mobile odin is fine), Rapps (removed apps) and more will be available as requests come in. There may be more as requests are takin.
Since this is a leak the team will not be adding in backup/restore capabilities until ICS is official on the Epic Touch.

Install instructions.
No matter what ROM your running, it is recommended to Odin/MobileOdin the EL26 kernel (providing soon), wipe system, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache, now you can install the rom and any add-on you may want.
If you decide you dont want, say the NAV bar mod, reflash the EL26 kernel, then flash "disable NAV mod" then reflash the FE22 kernel.zip provided.

MD5 Fails
I downloaded the file from the main link (clicking on Saurom Projekt link in the red headling of the OP - tried to flash and it failed.
I downloaded again - this time checking the MD5 and it said Code doesn't match.
I went to Androtransfer (the file host) and did a direct dowload 3 times) and every time the MD5 doesn't match.
I have never had this happen before - is anyone else having issues?

Gunna take a wild stab and say its because its not done being uploaded...as it says in the op...

Tried flashing, it got about 25% and then failed. I have debloated my stock Rom allot, and when I made the nandroid of it, it was 1797 mb. So maybe it hasn't finished downloading. Mine stopped at 738mb.

He posted that at 124am and siad the upload should be done in about an hour.. The file on Adrotransfer gives the file size at 738MB -which matches with what I downloaded. The file on ANdrotransfer has been at 738MB for more than an hour -You may be right but it sure seems like the file is complete - (would it offer an MD5 if it was't complete?)

Not possible to downgrade to KNOX-disabled firmwares/bootloaders (An attempt sets 0×1) (even though some people state, downgrade is possible when omitting the bootloader file in a firmware package: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=2444671, not confirmed)
Even if you flash a KNOX-enabled firmware via odin (e.g. the latest fw) knox will be set to 0×1
Flashing unsigned or modified images via odin will set knox to 0×1
Samsung stated, resetting the flag is impossible
KNOX is mandatory and can not be completely removed
Warranty Void is no counter, it is a flag (0,1) it was never seen 0×2 or so
Mirroring all partitions from a clean 0×0-Device to a 0×1-Device via JTAG produces an unfunctional device (reversible by restoring the 0×1 partitions on the phone)
KNOX bootloader verifies signatures of kernels and recoveries. No custom ones possible without voiding the knox warranty

This man can definitely ROM the $#!7 out of a Galaxy phone thats for damn sure. I think that Foxhound was the longest stock-modified ROM i had on my S2 before switching to CM7-9-10-10.1

This man can definitely ROM the $#!7 out of a Galaxy phone thats for damn sure. I think that Foxhound was the longest stock-modified ROM i had on my S2 before switching to CM7-9-10-10.1

I would also like to know if it will be compatible with gharrington's 3minit framework though ....

Lots of confussion goes on with 3minit framework because of its name but it actually doesnt touch the framework at all. It mods the systemUI so it should work fine on most roms guys.
Well I hope so, its built into my new theme
