I have to say that he is absolutely right, NO offense to the Devs here at all but really in all honestly AOSP development is actual development, with the exception of things like TSM parts and things like that. I really can't grasp why everyone jumps on Bubby the way they do. Sure he may have done somethings that wasn't exactly the greatest things to do but he IS doing something. I have been patiently waiting for a broader AOSP selection as I am not a Dev so all I can do is wait or try to learn it "which I am but its a slow process".
I also have to say that I am shocked at the actions of some of our moderators on these boards as some seem to stir up more drama then they prevent. All im saying is cut the kid some slack. He seems to honestly be trying to do some good work. It may not be 100% fully working but its alot farther then other CM7 builds I have seen for other phones. And I also haven't seen any competitive builds that were any better.

No but its the flaming that went on XDA doesnt have CyanogenMod7 in the DEV section. You have to admit that whole situation was lame #FAIL-XDA. Seriously, from the T-mo sections threads that spilled into a Dev thread, and the Mods leading the charge! They figured bubby would quit, someone else would come to the rescue since DATA/PHONE was working and drop a KANG here, it backfired on them What about the people who said once we have CM we have ICS, where did they go? Or the ones who said now that the thief is gone we will see some real AOSP development? Where are those people/roms, please I would love to try one out? I agree he didnt need to flame the dev's, but if I recall a few Dev's were one the flame throwing side when bubby was in the "Hot Seat".

I totally agree what went down on XDA was lame and we lost out on a great dev here but no need to knock the people we do have here. We don't want to lose them as well. There is definitely enough room for everyone and then some.
Besides, I think the bubby haters have disappeared from the E4GT section anyway.

These people keep bringing that **** here, stop spamming XDA just cause you are bored at Rootzwiki, go home to your AOSP, damn!
P.S. Not hating, just stating the obvious and you all should just let it go.

I still haven't had the chance to try it out, so I don't have any personal experience to report like I said I would...

Its awesome I tried it out last night and so far Ive come to realize how much I've missed it! While I have enjoyed lots of these Roms on here people are right .... they are 90% a copy of Caulks! Lets work on CMxx from now on!

As you can tell its a sore subject around here and unfortunately every so often someone brings it up again. Hey I am running Touchwiz, CM7(right now) and MIUI just because I like variety. The kid has done a great job like others have said. I personally don't care about his bs but honestly we got to do a better job of searching before we post since a new thread about this was just posted on 1/6 check here, with some unhappy people...LOL

I am not a big active poster here but love to run different toms on my phone...
I came here from the EVO forums after a switch the the E4GT.
It seems like every time I pick a ROM it goes dead right after I flash it.
Started on Blazer...No activity for months
Moved to AOKP and a couple of days later the thread implodes and is completely gone.
Yesterday I installed paranoidandroid and that thread gets closed.
Why is everyone ditching their roms? or removing the threads when they still contain critical information that is useful?

I dont think anyone is ditching their roms. Sometimes they just wait for something better like the ICS OTA or for source. But you have to remember that the devs have a life outside of deving. Maybe their are facing personal issues that doesnt give them time to update their roms.

There are a lot of good, active ROMs out there. Spend time in the Dev section and read through the comments, you'll be able to pick up what's still active very easily.

Things will also pick up when ICS ota comes and source drops.

please dont misunderstand me....I fully respect the Devs have a life...I was mainly talking about Threads dissapearing or being locked. If I dev needs time that is fine as you still have the thread to ask questions or reseach issues. Once the thread goes away or is closed you are limited in your options.
Sorry if I was misunderstood...

If I deleted a thread it was because it needed to be deleted, for reasons that may not be known to the common member. There's a lot that goes on behind the scene, its not just cut and dry.

Blazer has only gotten so far since ICS started leaking, I mean your coming in pretty late in the phones life. I always liked Calk's rom but since CM9 got so far so quick I am sticking with that for the life of the phone. AOKP will pick up eventually.

I too am coming from the EVO and EVO 3D and the type of dev support and activity you are used to for those two phones just isnt the same as for the epic. We have great devs in here it just seems like they arent as active as they are for the EVO series of devices I also dont think you have near as many ROMs to choose from either.

I would say you haven't spent near enough time in the Dev section if you don't think our level of support is on par with other phones.
Also, to the comment regarding number of ROMs, you're talking about a phone that is over two years old (EVO) and a phone that is barely 10 months old. Yes I know the EVO 3D isn't much older but it already had a base to build on coming from the OG EVO.
Besides, we're a community that believes in quality over quantity.

Now that^^^^ answer to one above ^^^ was right on point. You are not a true android enthusiasts if you cant see the difference between these roms. Honestly I go into the Evo forum since I was a big part of that forum for a year and all I see is the same rom split in 12 different pieces. In this forum there happens to be some pretty great developers and all working on different stuff. The roms you happened to pick were by the same guy. So if his life has sent him in a different direction and he can not keep putting out quality work then either you pick it up for him or choose a different rom.
Sorry man not trying to be harsh but I just dont believe in the nice guy crap. It is what it is. Loved the Evo but in the beginning over there it was the same as it was over here. Not sure if you remember but there were like 2 roms out for a while and the steps to root were crazy(like 40 steps). My friend jump on CM9 lay back and enjoy the ride or hey you can always go back to an Evo3d

i didnt come from any other phone except the intercept(crap). and i think that CM9 has the most activity of the roms, only bcuz there are soo many phones that have been ported. and Esoteric68 is right the EVO has had way more time to come out with roms. and our phone is still fairly new compared to the EVO series. but you gotta make do with what you have, once source comes out for ICS for our phone, we'll have more roms and more things going on.

Unfortunately I think its more than that... guys go read the last few pages here and this is the reason why you loose developers. Some of you have got to learn to how to relax especially if you are leeching and can not or have not contributed yourselves.

Man, its sad about Paranoid....I'm using that rom right now and loving it! But ever since I joined xda, I have seen a lot of closed threads due to drama...I guess that's life though

Yes its because so many users think they are the chosen 1. I mean xda is a hell of a place if you know how to use it. I have learned to do so much just by searching these threads with any issue I have. I have themed my own stuff made changes to the system files and basically tweaked the hell out of my phone just by searching the web. My attitude is I am damn sure not the first person to ask whatever question I have to ask and knowledge is the key(hmm heard that somewhere)
With people demanding stuff and claiming stuff is broken when they are the only ones with the issue and then addressing it rudely in a thread does not make a developer WANT to do anything for you. I could go on for a while on the BS I have seen.
We need to take what these developers have given us and be grateful as well as learn how to fix some of this stuff ourselves. If you can not help yourself then either ask nicely or #gositdownsomewhere

Ok, this is getting ridiculous

Alright, 2 of the best Rom threads were closed in the last day because this community is going down the drain. I have never seen so many terrible and entitled people in my life. AOKP and Paranoid Android were 2 roms that I and KBizzle had asked to be ported to our phone, TCP and KBizzle were so gracious and awesome that they came through for me. Now a lot of the people in the threads are thinking that they (KB and TCP) owe them something and can order and talk down to them when they post a new Rom and something like 4G doesn't work, or the browser. Get over yourselves and realize that this is all done for free in their spare time, they have lives and work to do, not be at y'alls beck and call for a new build everyday. The EVO and Nexus S communities were and still are soo much friendlier and nicer to all the devs for their hard work and time put into their work. All I can ask for is everyone to stop with the attitudes and start contributing if you think they are too "slow" for you. I would ask a MOD to clean all the stuff up but I believe there is too much garbage to go through everyday. I hereby volunteer myself to be an AOSP MOD for the DEV section, I will go through the AOSP threads and delete all the garbage.
That is all. I am tired of losing roms and devs because people here are so rude.

Damn shame there's always A GROUP OF IDIOTS that ruin things. K biz is always so good at replies & helping, just all around good developer. In the light of the gsIII on its way, it's sad because it's just a little bit easier to lose more talented gentlemen. I would like to say thankyou to kbiz and others as well im thankful for Ports & Roms. I actually followed the paranoid tablet rom & I'm still on alpha 3 with the tablet theme just for 4g however i'd never criticize a developer for a feat. Not working, & i wish others would do the same.
I truly hope the thread being closed will be reconsidered! For some of us it's just that much more difficult to figure out how to PM. Hell i can't even upload a pic lbvs. Just keep in mind that once you reach "Celebrity" status idiots are gonna come out in #'s man but just remember the fans willalways out number haters! and it would be an injustice for your amazing art to be shelved! Remember "1 monkey don't stop no show"!

Perhaps, if they can't take the stress of handling people, they should use volunteer community managers for their ROMs.

Devs don't need community managers, as each one of the people that follow a rom should do their part to learn and help develop. Rom users are not customers, and should not expect customer service.

I appreciate all of the kind comments in this thread. If i could have everyone from the general section in the dev section, life would be grand. PA isnt dead, just taking some time to work.

I wish the the rules for the developer section besides the 10 post or more" can't post any replies or comments unless you have contributed (developed anything) at least two things on the forums". This would definitely cut down ungrateful posts, and for the ones that could actually post would actually know that contributing anything is not that easy and would not take things for granted. I came across some sites like that required you to at least contribute whatever,haha. It would actually make xda developers, a hardcore developer site.

It happens everywhere the evo3d was the worse I have seen thus far devs dropped like flys for a good bit over there, its lame really but some people are just like that about everything in life lol.

NexusMod for the Galaxy Note II

Hey dudes, it's Bry from the AT&T Galaxy S III and Skyrocket threads, I'm the lone wolf developer of the NexusMod series of ROMS. I currently have a Galaxy S III, but I've been extremely envious of the quad-core 5.5 inch beast of a phone that goes by the name, Samsung Galaxy Note II. I've been wanting to get my hands dirty on some new material to work on, so i thought about it, and decided i'm going take the leap to the Note 2 pretty soon. I mean, why not?
Basically what NexusMod is, for people that aren't familiar with it, is a modified stock TouchWiz ROM made to look as AOSP as possible, giving it that AOSP look and feel, while keeping all of those useful Samsung TouchWiz additions completely intact. *cough cough S-Pen* Here are Some examples of my previous work.

I've already got my feet in the water, and i'm working on a build for the i317 i plan to release to a private tester as we speak. I don't have a n2 yet, but if i sell my s3 i'd get at most $500 from it (I got it replaced, it's in mint condition with a lot of accessories), and i'm give or take $200 short of the $700 the n2 would cost me including the tax. Once i get those $200 i'll get the device and that will sure make it easier and faster to bring NexusMod to this device. :good:
Just to clear some stuff up, Donations aren't necessary. I'm still going to build the ROM regardless, being a student it's just going to take a while longer to save up and buy it myself, probably by the end of the year. I was just putting this out there as a fair warning to prepare your body.

A bit curoius as to why you would ask others for donations here..When viewing your topics and post you've sold 2 phones this year and trying to sell your third phone (current) device now... Your credibility shows you'd sell it within a matter of time and move on like the rest of them...Not to be a **** but recent post dont lie. Just confused here?

I get your reasoning, i don't NEED the device i'm just not satisfied enough with my s3 which i haven't had long to the point where i don't feel the desire to develop for it and want to move on from it. My first device, the Skyrocket i spent plenty time (a year) with, and i supported it and released many ROMS for it over that time...

Just to clear some stuff up, Donations aren't necessary. I'm still going to build the ROM regardless, being a student it's just going to take a while longer to save up and buy it myself, probably by the end of the year. I was just putting this out there to see if there were individuals ecstatic for a ROM like mine and would help me out a little to get ahold of the device quicker, since that will significantly increase my development efficiency.

Hey Mod glad your making your way to the Note 2...Ive used your roms before and loved them....but this is good news for the Note 2 cant wait till you get here man to take this phone to the next level....And btw everyone vote yes on the poll for nexus mod...if you never used his rom youll love it when you try it....

Do what I did. Call at&t complain that you have been having issues with you phone or something and request they allow you to upgrade to a new phone (note 2). Got mine for 300 my nearest upgrade was dec 2013.

I have to say, I'm generally opposed to people who outright ask for "donations" in exchange for development work. To me, it sounds too much like "pay me to develop for this device."
I realize that you've stated that you'll develop for it even if you don't get donations, but it still makes me uncomfortable when someone actively asks for a donation.
If you aren't selling your development services, I wonder what will happen if you end up profiting from the eventual sale of the note2. Will you split up the excess money and give it back to the people who helped you buy the phone? If so, it might help to make people feel more comfortable about this.
I'm not in any way trying to start any type of argument here. In fact, I'm trying to head one off by asking the hard questions and getting it settled early.

And he's right you got your phone before I did I bought me and my wife's in March 2012 And I was having difficulties and asked for a early upgrade as well for just my line. .They gladly let me purchase the note 2 for 300 bucks sold my ATT note 1 for 300 and so it didnt cost me a penny out of pocket.
Sell your s3 for 300 if you can and get the early upgrade. There's a whole thread in the general thread about this in the orginal att note 1 section.

That's not fair to people. The poll asks if someone is interested. If they aren't, why wouldn't they vote "no"? I'll freely admit that I voted "no" as I'm not interested. I'm not interested in any custom firmware right now other than the changes I've made myself. That's not a negative review or negative feedback. It's an honest answer to an honest question.

Used the nexus Mod on the Skyrocket it was a super nice rom with the stock features.....i would love to it ported/reworked here.

Will there ever be a ROM that is right for me?...

Ive been a fan of ROMs and customizing Android since I originally bought into the smartphone world, back in the days of Android 2.3. It originally started because not only was I already a fan of modern technology and loved to build computers and troubleshoot malfunctioning tech, but because back in the days of Android 2, ICE, and so on, there was a reason for ROMs. They added so many features to such restricted systems that did not have very many features and were prone to freezing issues due to the chip technology not allowing for fast enough CPUs to support such demanding systems, but now that my T-Mobile Note 3 SM-900T and everyone elses all have official Lollipop firmware, its hard to see why I have such a hard time finding a ROM that I like, but I will tell you why, its simple. The reason being is that I like the stock system so much more than any of the ROMs currently out there, unless... there was something I missed...
TO ALL DEVS, THIS IS WHAT I FEEL ALOT OF PEOPLE WOULD LIKE OUT OF A ROM FOR THE SM-900T. I AM NOT A DEVELOPER, I HAVE NOT A CLUE HOW TO DEV, NOR DO I HAVE THE TOOLS, THEREFORE YOU CAN GLADLY TAKE MY IDEA FOR YOUR OWN!!!
As I said before, I believe the stock system is amazing, however the battery life and speed is terrible, so of course I began by experimenting with ROMs as per the ususal, well the Alliance ROM was pretty nice, the system was extremely fast and very stable, I liked it alot. However, alot of little details began to get on my nerves. First was the 1000+ options for custom coloring and customizing of the U.I. While more choice sounds like a good thing, you come to find that there are no defaults set up. My notifications kept coming up completely blanked out with no text whatsoever because the colors had to be set. Well, navigating the Alliance custom color settings was completely unfathomable and after days of experimenting, I came up with NO positive results. It also did not have the ability to skip songs from the lockscreen via lockscreen notification, which became a real pain real fast. Having to enter your 6-digit pin while doing 60+ MPH on your way to work just to skip a song isn't fun. Eventually, Alliance had to go. The other ROM I have recently tried is the DomPop TekHD edition (since its the one based on the official lollipop firmware). At first, things looked very promising, then it bricked my phone. After following the Dev's "Failsafe/Bulletproof" installation instructions, I finally got the ROM to function, but I found that the flashing of the stock kernel on top of the custom ROM did limit its features. The ViperFX custom equalizer does not work whatsoever, google play music FC's all the time, and the phone freezes up quite often.
After my frustrations trying to use these ROMS, I came to a startling conclustion: The Stock firmware is just better! And this is what gave me the idea, because despite it being stock it comes with all the features available to modern smartphones, its pretty fast, its stable, and it never fails, so why not create a COMPLETELY STOCK ROM but with some bloatware removed, and have it tweaked to provide better battery life and performance? Honestly, the stock features are better anyways. The ONLY issue that I can find with the stock firmware is that battery life is terrible (under 8 hours on WiFi wtf????), and the system could use a little optimizing combined with a bit of overclocking (Id say 2.5 GHz is plenty). For example, my car stereo sounds so much better off the stock built-in Samsung equalizer than any profile I was ever able to make using ViperFX.
Devs, if you were to create this simple and yet amazing ROM, I; and many others would greatly appreciate it! Yes I am aware that there are some stock ROMS available for the SM-900T. HOWEVER; there aren't any that are compatible with the OFFICIAL LOLLIPOP BASEBAND/FIRMWARE AND THIS IS WHAT WE NEED!

Oh look here at mister moron trying to assume things. No idiot, thats not all Ive tried. Those are just examples. Ive literally tried every single ROM available on XDA for the SM-900T running the Lollipop Baseband, and MOST from back when we were still all on KitKat. If I were to give an accurate estimate, I would say Ive installed about 15-20 different ROMs on my phone. The KitKat ones were great! But now it seems like every single Lollipop-based ROM just has so many issues that its not worth running.
So yea dont even sit here and point the finger at me like Im the one with the issue, maybe next time you oughta think before you speak.
By the way, I wasnt saying all ROMs suck, cause they dont. Its just these days, the stock firmware is actually better

Stock rooted+Xposed is what all the cool kids are doing now. Roms are a bit redundant/unecessary if you can shove enough extra functionality into stock and be more stable/efficient at the same time.

Ya no, see Im 23 years old, out here livin' life, enjoying it (So far at least), and makin' money, which is why come September Im gonna be one of the first and only people I even know to walk out of a T-Mobile store with a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 paid up front, in cash .
