Hi!
I just can't get into the download-mode.. i tried it hundred times! Its always just booting like normal!
I want to flash the I9000XWJM5 Firmware and then the SamSet V1.9. But i just cant get the download-mode working! So i can't flash anything...
Is there an other way to get into that mode? Or is it possible to flash the I9000XWJM5 ROM in the recovery mode?
Thanks for your help! =)
adb reboot download not working?
now my Galaxy stucks at the black/white Samsung writing! None of the button-combinations work! And it is not recognized by my PC!
What can I do now? Did I brick my phone?!?!

Remove battery for 30 sec, press volume down + menu + power for more than 6 seconds (till the screen comes up). Should work than.
What provider are you on? Cos some phones from Bell dont go into download mode from what I heard.
i'm afraid so
if you can not do the 3 button combination to get it back into the download mode, you'll have to return it to samsung which will refer you back to the phone company to have it fixed
nothing helped... this sucks! those kutton-combinations did not work at all.. even before i obviously bricked my phone.. dammit!
Anyone got an other idea?
at this point there is no much to do but throw in the tower, and take it back to the place where you bough it.
tell them the 3 button restore mode doesn't work, and you can't continue upgrading to version 2.2
I had the same issue

is this update "legal" in europe? or do i lose my warranty?
hi, just a quick question. I just went to download mode, to see if i could. What do i need to do to get out of it?
It says do not turn off target!!!
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I just turned if off. Still scared my beautiful phone will break!!!
Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to resolve a SEMI-BRICK. There is no way to enter recovery mode or fastboot.
Was installing a ROM when I got an error and never could turn on the phone. Only I get the screen with the mobile and pc with an exclamation mark in the middle.
Appreciate your help.
PS: sorry for my English
Javier
If you can't get to download mode you might be screwed. Can you get into download mode? If you can then you can just use odin or fastboot to push the factory rom to the phone and it will work again. Obviously you lose root but you can re-root afterwards. Good luck.
I find no way to enter download mode. in any way that I only try to turn the screen appears to indicate in the query.
There is no way to fix it?
thanks
Hey, in all the time on here I have never heard of a bricked Nexus.
Ok so just to be sure when the phone is off and you hold volume down and the power button it does nothing? Sorry just want to be sure this is the case...
probe all possible combinations and all leading me to the same, the screen with the exclamation mark. and on volume +, volume - and power and volume + and - and on
Ah no dude. That sounds bad. I might be wrong but you may need to go back to your provider and tell them it just switched off and wont work anymore.
Do you see the Google logo and the lock symbol when you turn it on or just this exclamation mark?
Obviously if you go back to your provider don't mention anything about roms or rooting as that voids your warranty but if they can't see the Google logo with the lock then they wont know you were rooting and romming it.
That would drive me crazy so I hope you get sorted soon.
The issue is that here in Argentina is not this phone. I bought online and sent me the U.S.. I have therefore not who wear it.
have you tried the usb jigs? i tried it on my nexus and it boots it into download mode

That might be worth a shot!
That I'll see if I can prove it today night. It is the only hope left for me.
Yeah, good luck man.
Well folks, with all the pain of the soul I confirm that I have is a full-BRICK. Last night at the JIG probe, and the only thing it does is turn on the phone and see the same screen BRICK. Since I can not think what else to do, only use it as a paperweight as they say
Any chance you try leaving battery out for a while, give it at least a good 10 minutes
Neither. I've left it up all night without battery and nothing.

Bad news Javii! So what are you going to do next?
Today I will try to recognize me either linux, so maybe you can do a fastboot to install the original rom. Because I said if you see the exclamation point is because it is a semi-brick
I used to get that screen with my Galaxy Tab when flashing the wrong ROM.
If the ODIN and original files are available for you to use, just use that and it should fix your phone.
Hello everyone.
To make a long story short, I let was stupid and let me 1 year old daughter play with my phone while I changed her. She started to chew on it and now the screen wont work. It boots up just fine and I can enter TWPR recovery just fine, but since the screen isn't working I don't know how to do anything.
Do you guys know how to fix this?
If there is no way to fix it, do I have to reset my phone back to stock before sprint will look at it? If that is the case, then how do I get back to stock without having to use the touch screen?
I tried to do some searching before making this post, but everything I saw told me to use the volume up and down button while in recovery, but that doesn't seem to work.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, I'm a noob when it comes to these things.
Thanks.

If your screen is unresponsive you and use odin to go back to stock with a .tar file if you can find the right one.
Or buy a 3rd party screen with digitizer and replace it yourself. Their are tutorials on youtube for this.
Sent from a planet far far away.
You need to go into download mode. I dont remember the button combo, but its either VolUp+Power or VolDown+Power (hold it) while the phone is off to get into download mode and be able to see it in ODIN.

A new problem has occurred. For some reason it wont let me access recovery or download mode, it just boots up like normal..... how screwed am I now....
Your backup would be a good place to start, actually. I would certainly do that if I were you. If that does not fix it, I would say you might have hardware issues, and you may need to replace the screen.

Use Volume Up+Home+Power to get into CWM or TWRP recovery. Vol Down+Home+Power should get you into stock recovery, or Odin mode as I call it. Also, pull the battery if you cannot get into it. Sometimes that helps.

I had the same problem. I used a small pin and used the reset button. It then rebooted and started as normal.

Most tablets have a reset button. Usually only accessible using a tiny pin. I was stuck in the bootloader and resetting was the only way for me. Have a look at your user manual as there should be something in there about it.
I've not managed to restore anything on mine as fastboot doesn't pick up the device but adb does.

Boot it holding the volume up button. This should get you into so-called "recovery" where you can, among other things, restore it to defaults.
If recovery also doesn't work (which would be unusual), boot it holding volume DOWN button. This will get you into a "download" mode where you can use ODIN to flash new recovery (such as CWM recovery which is very nice and powerful), or even flash entire firmware from scratch.
Good luck, let us know how it goes ~
[edit] oh and do all that while having it connected to USB power, in case the battery is empty.
still doesnt work

Could you clarify what happens when you do those methods exactly?
I think the download mode should basically always work...
[edit] oh wait, I think I mislead you by accident (sorry!). You should boot while holding HOME and volume up (recovery) or down (download).
stilll nothing

Anything doesn't work , When I boot while holding HOME and volume up (recovery) appears the blue advice in the upper left corner and about 2 segs after the cellphone restart again, again and so on, When I boot with the down (download) the process on kies working good but when ends the cellphone restart again, again and so on. I'm start to think that something in the hardware is damage :crying:
looks like you messed something up there...
Anyway, if your phone is rooted, and/or you don't care about warranty you can get it in download mode (you said it works fine with kies until reset, so I suppose it means that download mode is at least accessible).
And after that use Odin to reinstall the stock rom completely.
Or, again with Odin install custom recovery, and then whatever ROM you like.
While working with odin, be sure to stick to the guides here on XDA. (for a custom recovery see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980)

If you're not entirely stock you'll have trouble using Kies.
I myself had trouble when tried to revert to stock ROM from CM.
It failed to restore NANDroid backup every time, and I also didn't succeed in flashing the stock image with Odin as well.
In the end, I succeeded with this ROM (which is modified stock TW), usin ODIN. You can try this, just read and understand the instructions in the thread before you do anything.
Ironically, after a couple of days after reverting to stock rom I was so annoyed by the speed decrease compared to CM, that I reinstalled CyanogenMod back, found TouchWiz stuff I missed via separate apps, and I'm pretty happy with it ever since.
Bottom Line: anyways, if you already on custom stuff with altered warranty, you must get custom recovery working first, then it will be simple.
