What are you looking to do?
If you are wanting to flash a new rom then download the rom of your choice. Boot to recovery, wipe everything except sdcard. Data, cache, davlik cache, boot, system, android-secure and wipe sd-ext if your card is partitioned.
Then flash the rom from the sdcard. Once finished, reboot phone.

so this is my story... i downloaded a battery app and installed it and it asked me to reboot the phone and now im stuck on the 4g boot loop... i had my phone rooted at a cell phone store so my question is can i just go into the hboot and use the clear storage? or will that just mess things up more?
Me personally I wouldn't mess with that. I would go into recovery and do a complete wipe and reflash your rom or your backup if u made one. Just me though.

Some more details would be spectacular, such as which apps you're trying to use that give you that error. Do any other root apps work? What method did you use to root? Do you have the 'super user' app installed on your phone? When you boot to the bootloader, does it show Ship S off or Ship S on? What method did you use to flash the rom? Did you do it manually in recovery, or did you use ROM Manager?
When I boot to recovery it shows s-on. I don't remember the exact app name but it was used to manage power and cpu usage to boost performance. I used unrevoked root method found on xda.

Okay, you should be S off, not S on. Since you have custom recovery installed, you need to download the unrevoked forever s off tool, and flash it in recovery. Then boot back to your bootloader, and be sure that you're S off. At that point, I'd boot back to recovery, do a full wipe (data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and flash calkulin's format all.zip), then reflash your rom. See if it works after that.
Much appreciated friend. To be continued.

Not a problem. And if you are on the newest version of clockwork recovery, you may not be able to flash that Calkulin's Format all.zip. You may need to flash King's format all zip instead, which I will attatch for you. Just remember, that after you flash either of the Format all.zip's, you need to flash a new ROM before you boot up. Once you flash the Format all.zip, everything geti's wiped, and you won't be able to boot up.
So instead of calkulins use kingsmod? Now.I don't wipe again one I use kingsmod do I?

Nevermind. Flash the format all.zip then flash rom.

That is correct. Don't try to boot after flashing format all, until you first flash a ROM. Let me know how you make out

Correct, they both do the same thing, except king's is edify compatible, which makes it gingerbread and clockwork 3.0+ friendly.
Also...kings black titanium is my first flashed rom. I like it...but I don't want to miss out on something better. I am sure I will try other roms ...but in the meantime...any suggestions for performance and stability roms. I've seen screenshots of overclocked phones....the response of my current rom is great...but I am into full customization. Any ideas from those who know?

...sounds like you should try CM7
I recommend CM7. You just need to download and flash the latest gapps with it.
Someone wanna give the pros and cons of cm7? I have heard it plenty of times. Same type of thing right? I can flash cm7 straight from. Zip on my sd card?

When u say gapps that's foreign to me...I am still noob. Is this a cynagen rom. I see alot of screen shots with people clocking their androids way ocmver the stock 1 gig. How do they accomplish this. Sorry for all the questions.

http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/ < gapps [google apps] you flash them in recovery after flashing a new gingerbread rom, its so that your market, gmail, ect installs and work. And CM7 offers a lot of customization, plenty of themes, ect. You can overclock your phone using setcpu or from settings > cyanogen mod settings > performance > cpu settings. The only real con is a few select apps don't have gingerbread support yet, like juice defender, I believe. And if you want to update your PRL, you have to flash a sense rom, update, flash back, but that's easy.
Okay so that zip file is the gapps for cm7 rom? Now is the cm7 fast and responsive and is it a gingerbread based rom? I've been doing this replying back and forth from my phone...havent done the research yet.

PERFECT!!!
Okay now I am S-OFF. Thanks for the help guys...also...i was peeping in on mikifroyo 4.6, if i can get another lead on flashing roms...first data/factory reset, then wipe cache, then wipe dalvik, then i can flash new rom? Or do i need to flash a format all.zip first?
im running myns warm 2.2 i love sense i've been to cm7 and back a hundred times that with netarchy's 4.3.1 kernel is nice fast pretty decent battery life too but ya gotta give it day or so to see better life and lots of mods for myns too. id rather wait for gingerbread til someone other than cm to come out with one
I flashed the kernel and Rom virus gingersense and was thinking about flashing a different Rom but was wondering if i make a backup before i flash do i still have to do all the steps i had to do to flash this Rom or will it automatically be done?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
You need to backup that rom in recovery [in case you want to go back to it.]
To flash new rom:
-after backing up the current rom, wipe factory/data, cache, and dalvik cache
-flash rom in recovery
-if its a gingerbread rom, wipe cache and dalvik again, then flash the latest gapps.
-if you flash a custom kernel with it, wipe cache and dalvik cache again, then flash kernel
-reboot
Thanks i was asking cause i wanted to try out the miui roms and if i don't like them i would like to go right back to genger sense wit the kernel without going thru all those steps again

No problem. Just follow my steps and it'll bring you back to the gingersense. [after flashing miui, and if you want to switch back, just restore the backup of gingersense]
I would recommend naming them with a file explorer/mounted to a pc, because if you have multiple ones, you'll forget. Just don't use spaces in the names of the actual backup, and do not name the folder the backups are in.
Friends rooted evo gets stuck on white evo screen when flashing anything using rom manager and clockwork did full wipe and davlik wipe and still have problem

The first thing people are going to say is switch to amon_ra recovery. But is your friends sd card partitioned? If it is, be sure that when doing your wipe, that you're also wiping the "SDext" (not "sdcard") too. What rom is he trying to flash?
Swyped from my Raided Evo
SD card not partitioned and trying to flash kings rom, fresh or any sense rom he is on cm7 that flashed ok but nothing else. His sense backup gives md5 mismatch message and when trying to make one using terminal emulator its says read only file
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Download this file. Put it on the root of your sd card. And reboot the phone into the bootloader (turn off phone, and restart by holding vol-down and pressing power button). It will check your sd card and then ask if you want to update...choose.yes. This will flash amon-ra recovery.
Boot into recovery, and the first thing to do is make a nandroid backup of his working cm7. Then wipe data, cache and dalvik cache...then reflash whatever rom you'd like

Thanks ill try and hopefully it will work ill update will this fix the md5 missmatch for his sense rom
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Thats an unfortunate common issue with clockwork
Edit: btw, your friend won't be able to restore his clockwork backups with amon_ra, so be sure he makes a new backup before he wipes

New to XDA, first post ever. Has anyone tried the new Kingdom Sensless 3d release and if so can you tell me if youtube is working as well as 720p video recording? Tried to post this in the developer section under the proper thread but it wouldnt let me since im new. Would love to know overall thoughts on this release as well. Thank you!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
I believe YouTube works with a workaround (wifi has to be on but not necessarily connected), but 720p isn't functional yet.
is my daily driver everything is working fine there is a lag on the 720 but the devs have explained that is do to the fact that they dont have the codes or something to build new kernels.. youtube works just fine... if you haven't try it yet just flash it... you wont regret it..
Sounds good. Thank you. And just to be sure, i boot into recovery, do a factory restore, wipe cache, then install the zip from sd card. Is that the proper method to install this or will that screw up my phone? Thanks again!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
Also, i currently have a different sense 3.0 rom installed. Do i have to flash back to the stock rom before i attempt to install a new one or can i flash a new rom over the one i currently have installed? Thanks again peeps!
Sent from my Incredible using XDA Premium App
No you don't go back to stock before flashing, yes go to recovery do factory reset, then go to mounts and storage and wipe boot, system, data, cache go back under advanced & wipe dalvik. Now you can install your ROM

Thanks very much. Interestingly, when i go into recovery it brings me to a clockwork recovery screen where i cant do some of the things u mentioned. I only have the options to do a factory reset and wipe cash. Is that enough? Does it matter what order u do them in? I also noticed that in titanium backup there is an option to delete the dalvic from there. Is that ok to do?

Also, you can format system in the mounts and storage menu. The rom's install script should include this, but never hurts to be safe.
