I have applied my XDA Live Scripts to the "Vanilla" edition of Windows Mobile 6 for Hermes.
So I present you with Version 0.10 of XDA Live!

Windows Mobile Remote Display (CERDISP)
Fixes Specific to using "Vanilla" Base Rom

Remote Desktop Mobile has been embedded
I have integrated the following Registry Fixes:
By default only the Date Plugin is enabled (and it is set to a single line).
The Today Screen says "XDA Live" and the about screen shows " - XDA" after the OS Build Number.
Pressing & Holding the Comm Button toggles the between Vibrate & Normal.
PDAViet Memory Leak Fix is Applied.
Disabled the warning for Unsigned Applications (Application Lock)
Misc:
I have added two "Classic RingTones, (OldPhone-US.wma and OldPhone-UK.wav) for those of us who want to get away from the music and chirping Ringers.
I have removed all carrier customizations, no need to soft reset to avoid customization!
Please let's keep this thread clean. This will aide in getting things fixed/added as quickly as possible.

Keyboard Backlight Sensor turned off by default.
Turn Off Wi-Fi link is missing from "Connections Bubble".

MSN. (Note this is replaced my MS Live! and wil not be grafted into this Rom)

Microsoft Live! Mobile. (until there is a real release I will consider installing from the desktop as the fix for this, once there is an official release of WLM or A WM6 Rom that includes it this will become embedded)
Windows Mobile Update.
The WMXL Team is working hard to get these integrated into the Rom.
Items in GREEN are finished for the next release. I would like to time 0.x dot releases at least 1 week apart so expect WMXL v0.20 on March 5th (2007 of course) which will include all verified fixes as of March 3rd.​

Q: How do I install it.
A: The self extracting archive will run the RUU after it extracts all files. I used The XDA RUU which was modified to push the Des Bootloader to your device. This Installer does not require your device to be SuperCID and should work with all bootloader versions. This installer only has a HTC Splash Screen and the OS, No radio or Ext_ROM.
Q: Will WMXL (Windows Mobile XDA Live) fix my corrupted radio bootloader or otherwise bricked Hermes?
A: If the other tools here can't do it then don't bet the farm on WMXL doing it. The Flashing tools are still the same, no magic pill here.

A: Remember that my head is in the clouds on this one only because I'm standing on the shoulders' of giants. This project owes it's very existence to many other contributers here and they deserve as much if not more of the cudos than I do. The is a team effort, please support everyone who made this possible. (See my post here). I have been a member her for only 15 months give or take but I have spent more time reading than doing or posting.
Q: Can you release Cab file updates instead of cooking new Roms to flash?
A: I will do both. For example coming soon with be WMXL Update Cabs for Internet Calling, Video Calling, SetHSDPA and Windows Live! Mobile (for example). These will all be embedded into WMXL v0.2. I'm doing this to save you from having to flash you device as often as I am. Remember the Cab files will consume Program Memory whereas the new Rom releases will not.
Q: If you embed a program into the Rom how can I remove it (to save memory).
A: You can't remove file that are in the Rom. You can remove the Shortcuts to the programs. Again I will repeat that programs in the Rom do not consume any memory. If you don't want the program simply ignore it and it will not harm you.
Q: Will you still release the scripts?
A: Of course, I have spent the evening building and testing this Rom for Release. Expect this to delay the release of the How-To but it is still coming.
Q: Will you still release a version based on the original Rom (from your unnamed source).
A: Sort of. There will be a release either based on the Original Base Rom (Rom-X) or an Official Released Carrier Rom. This is why I used scripts to make the Mods to the Rom file, I had a working Rom on the Vanilla Base 20 minutes after I downloaded it. I spent most of last night making sure it was stable before releasing.
Q: Why do my recent programs keep disappearing on every reset?
A: That is StartClean. If you don't want this then simply delete the shortcut from your Startup Folder.

This Rom really is a group effort.
Without pof & team unlocking I never would have even gone looking for the base Rom.
aChef by aklok_hk is doing the heavy lifting.
Sleuth255, ShogunMark, Faria ViJay555, Bepe, Maimach have all been instrumental either directly or indirectly in this project.
Des and the SSPL was another step that got me to this point.
Olipro's RUU Workshop was used to make the installer package.
Of course there are all of the guys who have been doing this before I bought my first PPC Phone, they blazed the trail I simply walk behind them.
Finally, I can't forget my unnamed source. They took a big change passing this along to me. Even though this relase is built on the Vanilla Rom, without that trust I wouldn't have been able to spend that previous week cooking with a WM6 Rom Image.

Has anyone managed to get this running on the new ROM? Tried v2.1.2.21 and v2.1.2.52, but netiher will sync. Both see network, bbriefly create a tunnel and then disconnect.
Anyone got a similair experience - or better still offer a tip?

Added the Turn WiFi Off issue to the list.
Added WiFiInit on startup to fixes for next release. In the meantime, fin WifiInit.exe in the Windows Folder and make a shortcut to it in the Startup Folder.

Keyboard Backlight
Disabling the auto light sensing. This is a real bother where the light does not come up sometimes when you hit a key in the keyboard. I don't know if it is possible to disable it by default.

I'll look for the registry key and add it to the initial registry (if I can).

SMS send softkey
Under the SMS section of messenging, the left softkey is assigned to Delete, rather than New in WM5. Not sure if this is a WM6 vs WM5 thing as no other WM6 devices to compare to.....

I tried unchecking the tick box and this allowed the removable drive to install.
Unfortunately, I couldn't browse the directory structure though - it just shows it as blank. I did get a directory listing once but it then froze.
I also tried installing Card Export II but this just hung when I tried to browse the card.

I've noticed that the device locks while sending mail. That is, for a couple seconds during the process, scrolling is disabled and the buttons have no effect on the interface at all. Then, when it wakes back up, all input is executed, including scrolling and button presses. Any ideas?
This is with the default Vanilla ROM, I should mention - I am about to upgrade to XDA Live 0.1 now.

ClearVue doesn't work with many pdf.

I'm trying out PocketXpdf which is an opensource reader, footprint is much smaller which would leave us more room for other items. But this could become a user preference item really, didn't know if that should have been there or not but I'm fine with installing on my storage card since its not a huge deal.

i have installed it properly on my HTC HD2 but its not working, not rotating any of the applications,

This program shows strange behavior on my HD2.
1. I'm adding an application from running programs list
2. It appears on the whitelist
3. I press Apply. Program suggest soft-rest. Ok.
4. After booting whitelist does not contain newly added applications, thus they does not rotate.
What i'm doing worng?

Works on my US HD2 stock rom with none of the reported problems mentioned above. Great app, easy to use. In addition to the ones already set up I added Opera mini 5 beta and Smart RSS Touch GR. Added both while running, restarted, and both rotated just fine.

I had loved it works on my Diamond
But anyway thumb up for using the HTC look and feel instead of that -too over exagerated- iLook & feel (If I want iPhone L & F, I had bought an iPone)

Seems to work, have to apply and save and reboot. BUT can't get MS EXCEL/WORD to work at all. The file selection screen works but EXCEL spreadsheet work go landscape. Any ideas? Thanks.

[HELP] Mango vs NoDo handling of Email Replies via Registry Hacks

Greetings:
I am trying to resolve an issue that seems much more complicated than it should be and that I have not been able to find any info on looking across MANY forums, boards, tech sites, etc...I also had this over in the QA board but I need some really in-depth feedback.
I use my WP7 phone for work (I have the HTC Trophy and am on Verizon). I am connected to an exchange server and everything works great EXCEPT email replies; the original email text is NOT included and needs to be especially for work. Reviewing other threads across the web it seems this is normally enabled.
I checked with VZW second tier support and supposedly this feature is turned off on the Trophy. Fine, so I dug around, found an obscure WM6.5 reference to a registry key, poked around my NoDo registry and by trial and error was able to enable it by adding this;
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
Value Name – IncludeOriginal
Value Type – Integer
Value Data – 1
Works great. Now, I am a registered dev and went to upgrade to Mango 7712and did everything possible I could think of but I can not get this back no matter where or what reg edit. I also came across someone else on T-Mobile that had this feature enabled on NoDo and went to the Mango RTM and now it does not work. Maybe the core code and handling of this has changed in Mango; anyone else look at this?
Does the provxml reg edit for Mango on the VZW CDMA Trophy 7 work under any circumstances? It appears it is but it may also be keeping the provxml edits I make at the mid-step point in the Mango process (applied at the 7403 rev before proceeding to 7712). I make the provxml edits in Nodo using the older HTC Connection Setup (new rev does not work as described somewhere else). I then use it again at the 7403 step but have to switch to the new rev on 7712 (old no longer runs). Once I run the new rev HTC connection in Mango I can launch TouchXplorer and am unlocked. I can do all the same provxml processes (email new CustClear.provxml, copy, move, etc) but I am not positive edits are being made. But if my previous edits are kept (which all appear to be) why does my IncludeOriginal key not carry over?
Another note; it appears the main location in NoDo for this hack was HKLM (found using Reg Editor) and not in the HKCU like WM6. Looking at Mango registry dumps this is now in HKCU; is there more restrictive access to HKCU on the CDMA Mango or any version of WP7? I added a HKCU hack to the provxml at all steps just to have it there but did no good.
This brings up a good question - can you edit HKCU the same way as HKLM? I also see the key location I am after moved from Default.hv to User.hv when going from NoDo to Mango; does the provxml work on the whole registry or just the Default hive?
P.S. I have built a process to even get to where I can have TouchXplorer run on the CDMA device from a lot of other threads in this forum and greatly appreciate having everyone's knowledge to use. Thanks!

Getting desperate!
Does anyone have an insight to the registry of Mango and what the inbox/exchange/activesync keys are and what options are available? Or, does anyone know what email structure/client WP7 Mango is using now as far as emulator, provisioning, format (Windows CE 7, MAPI, etc...).
I am wondering if anyone knows to setup a provxml executable code that can provision the email client to override VZWs setting such that the replies to email include the original email text in the reply.
Thanks and appreciate any insight. There must be a way to tell the embedded email client on the phone to do what I want. I could do it in NoDo but the same reg hack is NOT working in Mango and I suspect it is due to a embedded client change in handling of email; I have verified I can make changes to the reg via the provxml method using HTC Connection in Mango.

Current version of launcher is 1.2 (it is the same in both Mobile and Mini).
What's new?
Application window gets recreated on the startup if Opera was already opened.
Got rid of WindowTreeUpdater, now using system functions directly.
Font smoothing
Removed some unneeded system calls.
Now timeout is 3 seconds.
Rotation support wasn't implemented in this version. Windows Phone 7 API doesn't support it in fully native apps.

That means, nothing except Full unlock will help you run it. Don't ask me about other unlock methods, that's not something to discuss in this thread.
Which ROMs should I use?
All ROMs that use DFT-like unlock method. I say "like" because there are some other methods, I can't list them all. I can't tell you "Yes, it will work on this rom" or opposite, just test it and leave a note if you want.
Is Opera Mobile port possible in future?

What's countdown made for?
Press "Stop" and check.
When I press "Stop", there is a "Delete internal opera folders" button. Why is it here? I can delete this app like any other WP application...
The reason is that Opera launcher goes beyond the standard isolated store. For example, it creates \Program Files\Opera Mini folder. Also it adds some absent libraries to \Windows\.
If you delete Opera launcher "like any other WP application", folders beyond the sandbox will still stay there. So, use "Delete internal Opera folders" button wisely
I have problems with starting it up...
If it Opera launcher's window doesn't appear at all, it means you have no interopunlock.
If it throws an error with "Check your unlock state" in the end, it means your unlock isn't enough for running native executables/copying files.
Anyway, you shouldn't post about it here. I will ignore such comments.

Confirmed working on my HD7 running the latest DFT rom ! Thx a lot.
As mentioned before on other devices without custom rom (like my OMNIA 7) it throws an error after launching... sad but true...

Sounds superb. In fact, the lack of landscape support is a blessing in disguise for me as I get irritated when the screen rotates when I lie down and browse.
I will have to wait for DFT Focus ROM though, if I want to deploy this app.

Yeah, they can be ported in a similar way. But for some apps it could be problematic.

All ROMs that use DFT-like unlock method. I say "like" because there are some other methods, I can't list them all. I can't tell you "Yes, it will work on this rom" or opposite, just test it and leave a note if you want.
Is Opera Mobile port possible in future?
I would rather say "yes". It has more dependencies, so porting is harder. But it really looks possible.
What's countdown made for?
Press "Stop" and check.
When I press "Stop", there is a "Delete internal opera folders" button. Why is it here? I can delete this app like any other WP application...
The reason is that Opera launcher goes beyond the standard isolated store. For example, it creates \Program Files\Opera Mini folder. Also it adds some absent libraries to \Windows\.
If you delete Opera launcher "like any other WP application", folders beyond the sandbox will still stay there. So, use "Delete internal Opera folders" button wisely
I have problems with starting it up...
If it Opera launcher's window doesn't appear at all, it means you have no interopunlock.
If it throws an error with "Check your unlock state" in the end, it means your unlock isn't enough for running native executables/copying files.
Anyway, you shouldn't post about it here. I will ignore such comments.

strange, to me it works fine on full unlocked omnia 7, other app with dllimport or with root tools sdk work on your device?

Thats because this app is searching for reg tweaks entries that are different in the HD7.
If you remove or change the tweak related with the camera shutter, the app will work just fine on the HD7.

The app runs perfectly on my fully unlocked HD7.

I confirm that the application works fine on my Omnia 7 with custom ROM

A sugestion for the developer: in App.xaml.cs, there's an event handler that gets called for any unhandled exception. I suggest you put some sode in there like this:
Exception x = e.Exception;
if (!(x is ExitException)) MessageBox.Show(x.ToString());
That way, if an exception gets thrown (even outside of a Try block) you can at least get the Exception info.

I don't think is for this because poloche have the same problem with omnia7 and this app work on some HD7 (confirmed by Lidanh)
