Droid X Desktop Dock Not Charging - Droid X Accessories

Hey guys,
I just bought a Droid X recently and the person who sold it to me threw in his desktop dock for free. I've been trying to use it, but doesn't seem to be charging.
The phone recognizes that it is in a "Multimedia Dock" and changes to the clock mode. Then in the top right hand corner, it displays the battery and shows that it is "charging" so I left it. When I woke up, my battery was almost dead. So the phone thinks it's charging but the battery percentage keeps going down.
It works with neither my Droid X running Apex 2.0.0 RC4 nor the completely stock Droid X2 running the latest OTA update that my friend has.
I have tested the charger itself, the charger works.
Does anybody know what the problem could be? Or is it that the dock is just broken?
Thanks

Never mind, I figured it out. It actually was the charger. For some reason the charger worked before but it's not working now, maybe it was a loose connection. I tested with my own charger that I knew worked 100% and the dock worked.
Thanks and sorry for the false alarm

[Q] Ipod/Iphone charger results in buggy touchscreen?

I think nobody asked this question before since I didn't find it even loking in Google
Since I got mi Desire I realised that not every charger works for it, I have an USB charger that went with a bluetooth dongle I bought (with same specs) but seems to be a lie because the battery keeps draining when plugged in, but that's not the problem I actually have.
My original HTC charger broke after three weeks of normal use , since there are no HTC stores in my country I went to an Apple store and bought and Iphone charger wich has the same specs as the broken stock one (Output 5V 1A). The problem is that sometimes when I plug the phone (usualy I charge my phone overnight), the screen becomes buggy, sometimes not responsive and sometimes over responsive (eg. if I click on an icon to move it into the home screen, it responds as if I clicked that icon several times very quickly). At first I thougt it was a ROM issue, but at this moment I already tried LeeDroid, OpenDesire and now I'm on teppic74's rooted Froyo and had similar issues in everyone of them. It's not really a mind breaker since I am ussually sleeping while charging, but I wonder if I'm not killing the battery or causing any kind of damage to the phone.
Can anybody give me a hand on this?
Thanks
Why not just order a charger online?
I don't know if it hurts the phone or the battery.
But if my screen went super-laggy and over-responsive by charging it..
I'd throw the charger out.
Already ordered, but I was wondering if someone happened to know a technical reason for this to happen, the phone doesn't overheat and the charging process works as a charm, the only issue is the screen wich sometimes behaves perfectly normal
Guess I will give the charger to any iphone owner when I get the original one (I have to buy in the UK store.. totally overseas)
My phone does the same thing if I use a PS3 charger (Just the usb to wall socket part). When I was in a phone shop, I noticed their Desire HD that was on display did the same thing. From what I can gather, it doesn't do any damage and happens with a lot of aftermarket chargers. Don't take my word for that though, hope I shed some light
Hello
Have same problem with my recently buyed HTC Desire while charging with non-original charger (from Nokia).
First time I'm worried about phone, but after reading charger's characteristics I found some difference in power.
So I think while phone charging it's receives less power than needed for normal work.

[Q] Battery not charging?

So, I'm not that new to rooting. I've been playing around with SRF for quite some time, as well as playing around with a few other phones. I decided to update to GB as the update had rolled out this morning. I updated successfully & rooted it, even added ACS ICS v4.
Now, here is where I'm having this battery issue. Before I updated to GB, I had no problem using the wall charger. Now that I've updated, the wall charger will not work. I've tried rebooting my phone, reflashing the ROM, toggling debugging mode, all of it. My USB is working, but nothing from the wall charger. I know for a fact this charger is good (it's not the stock one, it's a different samsung one) as it works on my boyfriends epic (we didn't play around with his yet).
Is anyone else having this issue? or am I the only one? What are some suggestions to fix this?
Thanks~

Use the stock charger, it seems code in the GB update enforced this. Just two days ago, my cousin updated to GB and reported this very issue, but she was using a Nexus S 4G wall charger, she had no issues charging it when I handed her my Stock Epic Charger.
P.S. the nexus s 4g charger charged her phone regardless, just no red led notification with only the battery icon in the status bar as proof of charging. However, I did not check the specs of the Nexus S charger, give a phone a charger with too much, or too little voltage, and you could eventually mess it up.

Damn, I don't have the stock charger anymore. I got rid of it quite some time ago.

You could try looking up one on Amazon, prices vary for the stock charger, it doesn't have to be the same cable, just that wall charger bit would of been valuable to hang on to.

I've noticed this, too. My phone would physically charge, but aside from that, there was no physical notification that it was plugged in. Even the battery usage would show the battery life increasing, but not register it as "Charging"
Has anyone noticed this with car chargers? I have a Sprint charger (via Amazon), and things still work fine with that. Also things work fine with the Blackberry USB cord when plugged into a computer (Linux, PC, Mac). But when that goes into a generic AC to USB converter, no dice.
Well actually, when I had it plugged in via wall charger it said it showed the little notification charging, but the battery was draining and would not hold a charge.
I found a samsung charger (not the stock one) and tried that. It worked perfect, LED came on and it actually held a charge.
The only thing now is that it seems my battery will not stop draining. It has been off the charger for 15 minutes, and batter is already down 10% with LIGHT use (I checked my VM, that's it).
I ordered the 1800mAh OEM battery yesterday so I'm hoping to swap this out and see if that may be the problem. Any other suggestions as to how I could fix that if this isn't the issue? ;( le sigh.

Once you get that new battery, charge it with the phone off, when 100% charged, calibrate the battery.

I'll go ahead and give that a try.
Thanks!

Another charging bug..

I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and have encountered one of the dreaded charging bugs. I have searched and cannot find anyone with the same problem as me though. When this started I had just flashed one of the newer aokp jellybean builds. I also started using a cheap ebay usb cord to charge my phone because it was 6ft and I needed the length. I still used the same adapter that plugs into the wall so it was just a new cord. I figured I would include any details that might have done something? My battery icon will show the charging symbol on and off frequently. This is obviously killing my battery life and is very annoying as the screen turns on and off too. BUT if I go into the settings and check the battery from there it shows correctly when it is charging and discharging. I have swapped batteries to make sure that is not the issue and I also reverted fully back to stock. The problem still persisted but only with the battery icon. I contacted verzion to send me a replacement and it was horrible so I'm sending it back. I am on my first nexus and it has been wonderful and I wanted to keep it if i could! I didnt know if there was a way I could look into the phone or if anyone would have an idea to why this is happening...

Battery dead because of rooted phone?

My phone wasn't holding a charge so I got a new charger. The new charger still wouldn't work on my phone.
My dad has the exact same phone as me (Sprint instead of Verizon) and the new charger worked on his phone.
I thought it might be a battery problem so I got a new battery. Once the new battery (first charge) prompted me to plug it into the charger the charger wouldn't charge. My dad's battery works fine in my phone. I want to see if anyone else has experienced this problem with their rooted or if you think it's the actual phone itself?
When my phone is turned off the charging battery icon shows. I'm stumped.

Dude first of all, totally wrong section entirely.. there is a Q&A section for a reason. Might want to contact a mod to move this..
and secondly, probably not due to rooting the phone.. all it does is give you superuser access (similar to having superuser on linux or admin rights on windows) for your phone... i have never seen any case of this breaking the charging port lol

I would wipe everything in recovery...factory reset ...system ...cache and dalvik (have a backup first) and start flashing a new ROM and see if that helps....if it doesn't then its definitely the phone itself...good luck

ok more info
what rom kernel
type of battery
charger
Can you see the phone on the computer when it's booted and plugged in? If not, your USB port is probably shot. All the other symptoms point to this and it's unfortunately common.
Troll? Lol

Lets assume for a moment they aren't.
To test to see if it's not related to any root/rom/kernel issues. Turn the phone off and plug it in. If it doesn't show that it's charging, then it's physical, or you jsut have a bad combo. I have a charger that works on everything but my phone, and my phone's charger works on everything. Chargers can really be picky, I don't know why, but I can provide proof if needed.
I'm running JBSourcery v4.2.
Samsung battery - extended, 1850 mAh
Charger - iGo
When the phone is off it shows that it is being charged.
My computer hasn't ever recognized the phone when it's plugged into the ports.

Note 2 only shows Battery screen?

My phone died overnight yesterday, and when I got home today I found it to be dead, so I plugged it in and turned it on.
The menu where it shows an empty battery which fills up as you charge it was there, but the screen was frozen.
I tried plugging in and out the charger, tried booting with and without the battery, and each and every time, the screen with the empty battery and a frozen loading circle just comes up.
It might be my cable, so I plugged it into my HTC One X.
It worked fine, it charges but only if I bend the micro-usb side of the cable.
The reason for this is because I ran over the cable's front end with my computer chair, and somehow it only works when you angle it some way now. But, if I do angle it correctly, it will charge and if remained in that position it will charge.
I plugged the USB into my computer to see if it would read the Note 2, nothing.
Tried it with the One X, and it worked.
The very dim red LED light did come up though, when I was holding the power button.
Any ideas on what I should do?
Should I replace the USB cable? This may be a factor, but the frozen empty battery screen and the fact that the charger still works baffles me.
Some other notes:
The Note 2 is running a custom 4.4.2. ROM: W03 SLIM V9 or something.
It has also been recently hard resetted, and everything was working fine until it died last night.
What should I do!!

Swap the cable...
And not sure what you mean about the charger ???
I've managed to get the right angle of my charge and bot into recovery, and from there I booted into system.
Now it isn't stuck on the zero battery screen and is charging now

Sounds to me like the battery was drained enough that it needed some time to charge before it would even turn on. I know my old iPhone behaved like that if I let the phone die.
Glad it sorted itself out.
