DooMLord's Root (zergRush exploit) works for EpicTouch4g - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I used the DooMLord exploit to root my epic4g without using ODIN.
They werent sure if it would work on this phone since it started on the Experia's.
I am happy because since haunting the XDA site all I could find was the usual flash kernal w/ odin stuff. Didnt want that.. plus LOS ****.
Also after doing this I used Chris41 'get rid of the yellow triangle script'.
Kuddos to you Chris I will be saving up money to donate to you for your own Epic4g! Dont have to **** with jig.

I really like using the jig. Quick and easy. Plus its extremely cheap to make one yourself.

Help rooting

Ok, So I did some searching and I found lots of information, but I didn't really find anything that tied all of the information together. I am not new to rooting or flashing phones, but I am new to this phone. So Here is my problem. I have seen a lot of the "how to root" guides. But I haven't really seen a guide on how to know which method to use. I have a brand new phone that I got today before work. So I have no idea how to tell which root method to use. Any information regarding how to tell which method/root this thing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Its up to you, just follow the directions. I prefer odin from pc or sfhub autoroot package. I always have pc access though.
Using either of those methods, does it matter that I just got my phone and I don't know what software is on it? What if I wanted to try an ICS ROM or something? I am just a bit apprehensive.
So more reading and I figured out that I have the EL29 what ever. So I need to do this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
But am I right in thinking that I still need to install CWM somehow in order to flash custom ROMs? Also, does flashing a custom ROM increase the flash counter thing?

Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662295 Watch Qbking's videos - here is the one for the FF18 build [located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229 [
Take some time and read read and then read again or you will turn you device into an expensive shiny fishing lure.
If you start off with sfhub's one-clicks you really can't go wrong. He has made it dead simple and safe and provided outstanding directions.
You can then use sfhub's Autoroot package to add Agat's 'safe' recovery with CWM.
Good luck
So I see that the the initial autoroot, it doesn't increase the Odin flash counter. But flashing a custom ROM (like say I wanted to go to ICS) would increase the counter?
I use this to get rid of the triangle and reset flash counter http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114

My friend one of the best pieces of advice I have seen here for you is too do some reading. Also why do you want to root your phone? If its for tethering you can simply install foxfi. If you want to try out different roms and tweaks then you really need to learn your phone. Developers, themers and contributors have set up thread after thread of great tutorials and answers to all your questions.
Welcome to android rooting world and you made a good choice but before I have to view another "I May Have Bricked My Phone" thread please read up and get up to speed on the craziness in here
Also to answer your question your counter only goes up when you flash an unsecure kernel through odin. Not when you use CWM

I Have rooted 3 previous phones, I just am new to this one. I Haven't done anything yet and I don't plan on it until I understand this phone better. Right now I am just kind of lost with a lot of the shorthand that is used in a lot of the threads. I am doing a ton of reading, but like I said, there are just some things that I feel aren't clarified enough for me to be comfortable just yet.
I just got a replacement phone from Sprint that I can't root. Every time I get the Hellions with BLUE flame message.

Yeah my old phone was a samsung but rooting and flashing were way different. This phone is really easy though. Don't over complicate it, just read the directions and go when ready. Don't flash anything brand new or any alpha releases, everything else out there is pretty safe if you follow directions.
Well the phone just updated to FF18. If I am not mistaken, I thought I saw somewhere something about rooting it (or flashing it) with ICS/ICS ROMs to be very risky? is this true?

Quick Q about root & recovery: I basically got each of them with 1 click, and:

Can that be right?
Is it really THAT easy on this device now?
(I got my Note 2 at launch; didn't worry about root bc of other devices to hold my attention. Then a buddy texted me and told me about the exynos abuse one-click app, (here's a copy, if you haven't seen it: http://goo.gl/6Jg61 ), and I literally rooted it one-handed, while unlocking my car after work.
Then, I remembered Goo Manager, and installed that from the Play Store to one-click install TWRP 2. (Link for the needy: http://goo.gl/cCI4x
So, my question, if anyone can answer for sure: is it really THAT easy?
Is there anything wrong with the above method for gaining root and installing a custom recovery?
Edit: Oh, yeah: I did have to one-click patch the root exploit to protect my phone after rooting, so make that a 2-click method I used for "protected" root.

Looks like if you did it, it really is just that easy..I believe this is the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297

Okay, and thanks for replying.
Boy, it just doesn't seem right to be that simple. Even the other "one-click" methods that exist on other devices weren't really that. (usually involved hooking up to a pc, plus installing an exploit program, then crossing fingers.)
Basically, I guess it comes down to Chainfire and the guys at TeamWin are the ones who deserve all the credit for making it this easy.

Root questions.

Please dont flame me. I was wondering as I read online that rooting causes the S-Pen to quit working is it still an issue? What is the best way to get root, just root at this time? Is there a way to do so from the phine? I tried exynos abuse which I guess no longer works with 4.1.2. The only reason I wish to root is to get super user access to remove quite a bit of bloatware from samsung, tmobile and google, since 4.1.2 apparently they feel I must have google chrome on my phone. I already had it but since theyre trying to force it on me im going to delete it.
Please help. Im not looking to flash roms yet maybe in a few more months when more developement has been done and I find one that would suit me. Also I dont want to trip my counter in case of warranty. Just an easy way to root 4.1.2 and thats easy to undo. Preferably from the phone if there is a way.
I know theres a search option but as ive found with my xperia my htc incredible and my captivate not all root methods work and some dont work for very long. While not completely new to rooting ia am still a noob so the easiest way is always best. I do have a pc with linux installed if that might help if not disregard as ive also a pos netbook with xp that works most of the time.
Thanks to everyone on xda for providing the time, experience, and information contained within these forums. Yall are great and have helped me hugely.

Tripping the counter is no problem you can dial it back. Never been an issue with spen. I use Note2 toolkit to root.
Carbon Nightly | Kroz Hhue Theme | Crack Flasher
That requires the pc correct? Flashing with odin? Does odin work with linux? I have an old (I mean 3.5inch floppy drive 256mb of ram and 56k modem old) that is running puppy linux. My netbook doesnt like odin all that much. When I was using it for my cappy I had to install and uninstall odin several times.

Maybe buy mobile odin. Runs off the phone. Should be able to flash a recovery, then rooted rom.

The XDA Search button is the best method to use to find out this information. :good:
I agree. CF-Autoroot is very easy and it keeps.everything stock. Tested and proven by many.
Optionally, if you are flashing TWRP recovery, it will offer to root the device if it doesn't detect that it is already rooted.
I still prefer CF-Autoroot. And I use pretty much all ChanFire's Root apps and everything has always run perfectly. You will have SuperSU. Suggest upgrading to pro for a couple bucks. And Triangle Away if you need to reset your flash counter. When you get to the apps, please spend the extra few dollars to support their development by buying their apps in the Google play store. Chainfire never requires it, but it shows respect and keeps the few gems like him helping us out. If it weren't for a handful of people, we wouldn't be able to root our devices. Great folks.

Make sure you are fully updated on your stock. If you have the sprint lgog, you should be on ZVC. You don't HAVE to be but it will lead to less headaches later. Look for an app called framaroot (you can google it, Im not sure if it's in the playstore). Choose the Gandalf exploit and you should be good to go(after a restart). If you want to unlock the bootloader, install the FreeGee app from the play store. Very simple to use but if you need further help there are guides already on here that should help. Just search!
