Hi guys.
I'm having a little trouble finding out how to un-root and flash back to stock rom and kernel.
I have searched around for like one hour, and cant seem to find any threads that's answers my question. So therefore i need some help.
I want to re-lock and get back to stock (As i just bought the phone).
Information's about the phone (Kernel/firmware/etc.)
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_21-22
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Version: 3.0.1.A.0.145
If there is more information you need, then just ask
Thanks in advance
For relocking your bootloader check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
And for unrooting this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18879974#post18879974
Or just flash a firmware using PCC or SEUS, then the root is also gone (after you relocked your BL!)
if you want fresh stock,
relock bootloader, flash any global fw,
and reflash using SEUS.

Flash the relock *.ftf file with flashtool.
Then flash another firmware using PCC or SEUS.
You'll have a locked BL, stock firmware without root.
I think that's what you want.

Exactly Want to use OTA Updates, because im trying to sell my phone. so i can buy a Nexus
Hey @ all
i'm a new SE Arc S user and saw my friend using a custom rom on his galaxy s so i decided to give it a try myself ^^
reading the FAQ i got to the thread Read BEFORE flashing!!
it says before flashing i got to test if i can get into the download mode.
so i tried all three methods but i can't.
then i went through many other threads and saw that it actually works on an arc s.
so my question is how do i do it?
i already rooted my phone and i have installed the android sdk including platform-tools and the adb drivers.
additionally i tried to get into recovery mode using the button combination but it doesn't work as well.
Information to the phone:
Arc S (LT18i)
Android-Version: 2.3.4
Build: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
if there are any more questions just ask and i will try my best answering them ^^
hope someone can help me

You have to unlock your bootloader, push a kernel via adb, and install a custom ROM via CWM recovery.
Sent from my LT18i using XDA Premium App
EDIT:
Your guide is for the Samsung Captivate.
Start here.
Thx for your replay.
The guide you linked in your post is for an arc.
Does it work on my arc s too?
Of course, I own the Arc S too and about 95 % of the kernel/ROMs/MODs/themes/etc. works for our device too.
heey
i just unlocked my bootloader.
now i would like to back up everything so that i can switch back to the actual state of the phone.
but recovery is only described with changing the kernel.
is there a different option for a backup?
Flash this on stock kernel, go in recovery and take a backup.
Then you can push kernels, flash custom ROMs, etc.
that means if i make a backup using cwm i bavk up the kernel too?
No, you just push kernels via adb, but you can when ever you want push the stock kernel again.

Download Flashtool and ICS (4.1.B.0.587) or GB 4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic firmware, which is a FTF file, and flash it in. Will install fully stock firmware on your phone.
I got my LT18i .42 Locked Bootloader. Rooted with zergrush, installed CWM using the Xperia CWM installer from the market, and all was perfect... Then updated my phone using companion %&@@&%. Then read that I can't root .62, so I downloaded a .42.ftf, flashed it booted it and noticed that now I had a LT15a at first thought it booted so should be ok I'll do a OTA update see what happens. Rooted, CWM installed. Reboot, reboot, press (any key) freezes at boot logo. Using Rom manager to reboot to recovery just reboots normally to android. For the past fiew days I was reading up on this, but could not find any definitive resolution. Tried reflasing proper LT18i .42, .58 using flash tools, and using wotan client. Tried repair with both companion and SE update service, then downgrade with flash tools and with wotan, obviously I don't mean all at once just different methods . Root seems ok titanium works I can get in and edit system/bin, /xbin. I tried manually moving the files for CWM, and changing permissions. All with no luck. Yesterday I came across a post that said that the LT15 room might have changed something to do with mounting the sd. But no explanation. I'm not a complete noob but need assistance on this.
Thanx guys.
Flash an Arc S firmware on your Arc S and you should be good to go.

Any other Ideas why it freezes if i press (any) key, please
PS.
I got Locked Bootloader BTW.
bl
try unlocking your bootloader, why not? unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
Thanx anthraxter
I have been thinking verry hard about that, but still on a contract, so dont want to mess with that. i have been plaing with fiew rooms on my X8 (unlocked Bootloader) before i got this ARC S, and not without snags, but allways managet to get it back up. Do you think it's the bootloaders fault??
BL
I can't tell you for sure but I would suggest you to unlock it (75%) . Download this LT18i_4.0.1.A.0.266_CUSTOMIZED-UK -( mediafire.com/?ie832txe46ia2bh) Always worked for me to do a clean install if i was gonna flash-it, download ROM Manager again and it should work. Gotta love playing. .
I'll Try it Thank you.
flashing with flashtools, or wotan should wipe all left over date, cash, davlik, ect..
unlike using CWM to install update.zip where you need to do it manu.
or am i crazy?
I personally use only flashtool. That does the whole job.

No Cigar. still lockes up at first SE logo if i manualy want to get in, and if i use any software method from within android to reboot in to recovery it simply reboots back to android. Tried (flashing, rooting, cwm) with and without SD. This Sucks, what good is an Android device without CWM.
there has to be some way to get it to fff work.
Ok, so it goes like this.. Flash a new firmware, flash a stock kernel with CWM ( DooMKernel) through flashtool of course and the kernel through fastboot.. U done that?

I've had a similar experience today with a Arc S LT18i. Was on .42 (rooted and some system bloatware
removed). I tried an OTA upgrade last night, but this failed, presumably because I'd deleted some system apps. I then (without reading forums first - big mistake) upgraded with PC companion to .62 and THEN read that I couldn't root it again. After much reading of forums I found a version of LT15i .42 and flashed that - and rooted it again.
Then the problems started, I tried an OTA upgrade, and it failed mid-upgrade, giving me a blue arrow pointing down onto a screen with a yellow triangle of doom with an exclamation mark.
Flashtool didn't want to know for ages, then (fortunately) it suddenly let me flash back to .42. I've rooted it again, and any apps that weren't there have been re-installed. From what I can tell the LT15i (Arc) seems absolutely fine, with no visible difference from LT18i at all.
The question is - should I just leave it as it is and avoid risking bricking it again, or do I really need to try and get an ARC S version of .42 onto it with Flashtool, so I can upgrade to ICS when the time comes. If so, does anyone have a good link to .42 for LT18i pls? Ideally not from uploaded.to as that site was driving me nuts.
Thanks, and good luck to the OP who had similar issues.

That's cool. But with a locked bootloader there is no fastboot
So what I do is flash LT18i 2.3.4 .42 using wotan client, root using zergrush. Now at this point phone can be updated to .62 , using the updater inside the phone AKA - OTA, that way I end up with LT18i .62 rooted, Locked bootloader. It is very important to keep in mind that this method for update will only work if ALL oryginal SYSTEM applications are on the phone.
I tried To Iinstall CWM on a locked bootloader using : NAn's app from market, extreme tweeker, both CMD methods, and manual method using root explorer.
By now I can do it all with my eyes closed hehe, but still can't get in to CWM.
unlock your bootloader then flash doom's kernel

Until ICS comes out i dont want to unlock my bootloader
Is it posible to flash firmware .ftf (with flashtools) that is already rooted and has CWM instaled, on a locked bootloader?
also is there any way to flash CWM backup on to the phone, if i cant get in to CWM (convert it to .ftf) ?
Can someone post a link to LT18i firmware that is rooted and has CWM instaled. For locked bootloader (.ftf) ?
OK. So i'm a "GENIUS" LOL
i got a reason to belive that simlinks got screwed.
I failed to manchen that affter i upgraded the firm to 62 with pc companion, i tried to ROOT again but when: DooMLoRD zergRush did not work i decided to give a try SuperOneClick, then FlashTools... Kurrrr.
eaven thugh they all use Mr. zerg's methode there is another choice psneuter, if i uderstand correctly the two methods differ a bit.
So simlinks dont get whiped, nor deleated when flashing, or restoring with seus.
or am i missing something eaven simpler like "reflash with SD inserted But no SIM, take out battery(or DON'T take out the baterry untill rebooting the Phone twice" or some think briliant as such.
like the one for relocking bootloader in The SE X8.
Can i deleate the simlinks and what ever i belive wrong, then UnRoot, whipe, reflash, root, CWM?
Would that fix it?
the phone is usless without CWM
Unlocking BL is not an option for me, i'm afraid
SOLVED
Ok. I managed to install CWM using flashtool. Entering CWM no problems, creating backup no problem, but after restoring from backup the phone was freezing every time.
puppet13th was nice enough to help, it was not easy so THANX VERY MUCH MAN.
The problem is that my partition layout got messed up. this is how it is setup.

Guys can any one plz tel me how do i get back to factory original OS from unlocked bootloader and custom room, i got no idea how to restore back to factory original os, help plz.
Flash the ftf file using flashtool. You need to know which firmware your phone originally had on it.
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk 2
need firmware
can you post a link for below firmware
sony ericsson LT18i
SI 1253-9721
well you need to know the orignal os that was installed on the phone by default.
consider this. if your phone came with the dafault firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 and you install 4.0.2.A.0.42/58 then it will not work on your phone( although it wont get bricked)however, if it came with 4.0.2.A.0.42 then you would be sucess fully able to install gingerbread:- 4.0.2.A.0.42, 4.0.2.A.0.58, 4.0.2.A.0.62
as well as ics :- 4.1.a.0.562, 4.1.b.0.431
you need to download any 1 firmware you like and then flash it using flashtool
the links to firmwares http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22105604
the tutorial of using flashtool http://www.theandroidsoul.com/tutorial-how-to-flash-a-firmware-using-flashtool-on-xperia-arc/
however remember you need to install all the required drivers for flashing a ftf firmware. although this tutorial is old, the method of flashing is more or less the same. best of luck if u need any more help, i will be glad to help you.
I have the LT26i boot loader unlocked Xperia S and it was updated to 6.1.A.2.55. Its still Android 4.0.4 and not much has changed. I am trying to root it and it get all the way to where I hit the restore button but then nothing happens. I figured I can flash it back to the 6.1.A.0.452 but I ran into a snag there too. The old ics driver is not working. I am running flash tool 0.9.10.1
Is there any work around for this? Your help is much appreciated
PS
I got the new update directly from Sony.

Hi it seems untilnow there is no option for root for 6.1.A.2.55, you have to go back to some other version .45 or .50 and root that one and flash a .55 sytem to get the latest updates.
The strange thing is, i did the same and i was getting still the notification to update to .55 and i uninstalled the update service aplication.
Good luck i hope this helps.
hey try this since your bootloader is unlocked,
1.flash advanced stock kernel or ka sspeed then boot.
2. after that reboot, then flash via fastboot kernel.sin from stock ftf of .55 firmware.
"fastboot flash boot kernel.sin" without the quote ,

The problem is I get a Driver error when I try to flash anything even though I installed the drivers so I am unable to flash anything in flash and fastboot mode so I cant go back.
Thanks for the help.. But the current version of flash tool cant seem to make changes it only recognize the device
download pda.net, this will install your driver.
