i have a lot of issues
a. Cant connect via wifi to ad-hoc connection created with win7
b. Cant connect to internet using internet pass through
also there is proxy set up
i have tried myhotspot application that is available but even that, after connecting and showing full signal, doesnt alow me to open even google
i have a lan cable connection in my laptop
please desperatly want help

I was playing around with the laptop and pda and setup a ad-hoc connection (device to device) i don't have a wireless router but i was wondering if anyone has managed to get the internet wireless on the laptop wen the pda is docked using ad-hoc connection for my laptop.
So i want to use the pda as my router getting internet from the pc and send the internet connection to the laptop wireless.

There are 2 ways for using internet through WIFI in your blueangel
1. ActiveSync through WIFI (works only in WM2003SE and ActiveSync 3.8 or earlyer)
2. AdHoc plus Internet Connection Sharing (works if your proviced does not limit your connection for sharing)
Could you guide through the steps to share the internet connection please?
I have no problem to connect to the internet (to update weather, news etc) when I connect my P3300 to my desktop (which connect to the internet through a hardwire modem and a hardwire router). When I connect the P3300 to my laptop (the laptop is connect to internet through the WIFI rounter), I then cannot update those weather or news in my P3300. What setup do I need to change in the P3300 in order to be able to get to the internet through the laptop's WIFI connection? Thank you for any help.
Should happen automatically if you have a standing ActiveSync connection. No special settings needed. On the other hand - Check your firewall. Maybe some soft on the laptop is preventing your PDA from getting access to the internet!

not tried this yet but....just plug in and it will recognise the phone as a modem or GSM connection for internet surfing on the laptop?

Thanks for the feedback. I have try to disable the firewall, but it still cannot connect to the internet. By the way, the laptop us window XT. If I enable the WIFI on the P3300, then it can connect to the internet by it's own WIFI. But if I disable it's own WIFI, then it did not connect to the internet throught the laptop's WIFI connection. I think there must be some setting in the network connection, so that it will be able to use the laptops WIFI and get information through it. But I do not know how. Any help is appreciated. So I'm using wireless tether app and it runs great on my PC. My PC's wifi card found my phone with no problem and connected to it. I gave my PC access control in the app and I can now access internet. However, when attempting to scan for networks on my playstation 3 it does not see my phone. I have assigned an SSID from within the app. Also, something else I noticed that was weird if anyone knows, I enabled wifi encryption but the setup methods threw me off with the Auto, iwconfig, and wpa_supplicant. I chose wpa_supplicant and gave the phone a password but when I connected my PC to the tether it never prompted me for a password (weird?). So if anyone knows what all this stuff means and also how I can get my playstation 3 to see my phone please let me know! Thanks in advance!!

You can however connect your PC/Laptop through wifi tether... then connect the PS3 to the PC with an ethernet cable... and internet connection sharing (ICS) enabled on that port.

I have installed RCMix HD rom, with new Sense, and i have option for Internet Pass-Through. I am wondering, if it is possible, to use on phone internet connection from PC via Internet Pass-Through, and in settings turn on Portable WiFi Hotspot, that will let me to connect to internet on another laptop? I tried this, but i doesn't have internet on laptop...
And, is this possible anyway?
The way the internet sharing works with the Desire is that it acts like a modem which then shares the internet with a PC. You can't do it the other way around, sharing internet from your PC to your phone, just phone to PC.
You can use your computers internet via internet pass through, I know because I've tried it, but you can't use the computer internet for hotspot, I tried that too

@damo : bro can u tell me how u did it???m using windows 7 but cant seem to get it work on the phone....everything is getting connected but no show on the phone....
is there any particular setting u need to do???
as a thought - what about if you made an adhoc connection from laptop and shared internet with that connection...?

just remember when I had a machine set up with a crossover and shared wifi from laptop to PC and wondered if you could do something similar with an adhoc wifi connection...
You can't share the internet connection used from a pass through connection. The reason is that it uses the same framework for both pass through connections and Portable Hotspot. Would be cool if it could be done, but with Windows XP and above you setup an AdHoc Wifi connection which will allow you to connect one device and share and internet connection.

I know that you can reverse tether to allow the PC to connect to the phone for internet. That's not what I'm looking for. I have a laptop that I want to be able to connect to from the phone to the WIFI connection, and access the internet via the shared LAN connection that I have on the laptop.

Internet Connection Sharing on your Wifi, set it to Ad-Hoc so it broadcasts a signal. My laptop has Intel MyFi so that part's done automatically (I can be both connected wirelessly and share my connection) but setting it this way should work.
