Check out the answer i got from Moto customer service.. i removed my real name.. i hope you understand why...If any of you have something similar please post here
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Motorola.
Rooting the phone and unlocking the boot loader means the same. As we already inform you, we are not allowed to provide details on it.
For any further assistance or information please do not hesitate to contact us again, quoting your Customer Reference number.
Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.
Kind regards,
Motorola Mobile Devices Contact

Moto thinks all their customers are stupid or only their customer care consultants are idiots????

Well, I think they only try to say, weither you root your phone our unlock the bootloader, would be the same for them, since both actions would void warranty and thats all they are interested in their small point of view.
cheers..

If customer care guys were so intelligent... they would have been inside development team and not servicing customers !!

ROFL, This guy is trying to get people to pay for a completely useless service. Hilarious!!
-s
It's an automatic message each time a new device is added to the forum. this used to be all GSM phones on this board so it was useful, but the automatic post really isn't a good idea anymore as it's misleading and could almost seem fraudulent for this device.
i'am not a robot... i'am posting these messages by hands
Not a very usefull thread for a CDMA phone. Maybe this one needs to be closed. Thanks anyway though.

I have a Vogue, and I'm POSITIVE it's not simlocked!
Hello to everyone
dont bother yourself for those unlocking service that is not free, just wait for a day of weeks it will comeout.
tupisdin does not profit from these unlocks, he makes people donate to the forum to get thier key, however: the 'auto' posting in new forums should be toned down a little mate, at least until you know the devices actually have a simlock!
Midget_1990...
What makes you believe that what you are talking about is really donating?
Come on!!! What I did is donating.. Just to thank XDA-Developers.
(I didn't donate much, but still...)
But making people PAY to get an unlock code via the "donating" button IS NOT DONATING!
Vogue Unlock
I think he is saying the unlock for ESN. Anybody know how to change the ESN on Titan?
I am agree with your answer mate.

MOTO wants to unlock bootloader!!

This getting interesting!!!
MOTO wants to unlock the bootloader!!!!!
Sent from my MOTO Defy
I'll believe it when I see it, but I do hope this is true. That would be awesome!
I think that Motorola wants to unlock it because bad reviews from devs.
Sent from my MOTO Defy
Not to mention the bad PR they received when that schmuck handling their YouTube account posted that users should "look elsewhere because they will continue to do what works for them".
Can you believe that?! Motorola's an ungrateful b*tch! If it weren't for us, they'd have closed operations a long time ago. It's us, their Android users, that are saving their *sses!
Leaving alone that customization becomes a topic more and more important to the "technically apt" customers and a locked bootloader makes them "look elsewhere".
Maybe they also realize sometime that devs normally influence a large number of people in their consumer behavior, be it by their dev work or in their direct social environment.
Wait and see...
And hope it's retroactive and not just a new more open bootloader for new phones.
They starting to ask about bootloader!!
Lest keep asking Motorola!!
Maybe we and it someware!!
lets hope this is true and not just a pr thing it would make development lots better. e.g cyanogen!

You do realise they didn't actually say that, right?
I really hope they do remove all the restrictions that are there just now but what they said was actually fairly non-committal unfortunately.
Exactly.
1. If I buy my phone from retail store (not unusual here), then there's no *partner* to concern with. So, give me an unlocked bootloader *now*?
2. They may only offer it for certain models, or certain SIM-locked models from certain operators.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Email received from HTC support

Hey everyone,
I went ahead and emailed HTC support asking about if there is plans to have our bootloader unlocked with a future software upgrade. I received a pretty canned response. Just thought I might share for those of you that don't have the time to email them yourselves.
Direct link to HTC email support added, please email them yourself!:

Dear Ryan, Thank you for registering your feedback in regards to HTC’s latest statement on bootloader policy. While the statement notes that locked bootloaders will not be occurring on future devices, the official policy is still being reviewed as it pertains to existing devices. Please keep an eye on www.htc.com and www.twitter.com/htc for the latest news.

Question on unlocking bootloader for Droid Incredible II.
Hello HTC,
I currently own a Droid Incredible and am considering purchasing and Incredible II. I am waiting to hear if you will include a way to unlock the bootloader at some point. A statement from HTC will go a long way in helping me decide on my next phone purchase...
Sincerely,
Scott

Unfortunately HTC will see you as a potential customer of a future device in this case. They will likely push you to a device that will be unlocked rather than a device that likely will not be. I'm not saying don't try it, just that you should expect that kind of response.
Sent mine, i'll post the response when i recieve it.
Let's hope we can get something started here. Here's the direct link to the email support page to make it that much easier for those of you that haven't sent one yet. If everyone that viewed this thread sent an email, it will surely make some difference...? Maybe?

I did specifically state that I wanted the Dinc II.. We'll see. If anything, HTC that we mean business with all of their devices.
I put in my email that i hadn't yet upgraded but i would likely switch to a different brand because thunderbolt was too big for me.
Guess what i got back? The exact same email that you did, word for word.
I think that if you send them a email with the word bootloader in it, you will get the same response. I sent one earlier today and I also have the same reply, word for word.
I think if we keep asking them to make their policy retroactive for all previously locked phones, they might give an official statement that they're releasing the update for all the phones, similar to how the fans got them to stop locking the bootloader.
i got a response from HTC that appeared to be a little more personalized:
"At this point in time, we don't have any information on if and how existing locked bootloaders will be unlocked (although I, for one, will be surprized if we just leave them as-is)."
Take that for whatever it may be worth...

I would be surprised if they weren't working on it now. They did it for the sensation and the DInc2 was the phone that really started the natives grumbling, so... It's a race Between hackers and htc. I would love an official, safe unlock but...

Damn O2.......asif i found a help that understands

OK, im on O2 and on contract. So im screwed when it comes to unlocking bootloader.
I know there are many ppl that all know the same as me.......O2 are t**ts and wont let you do it. But why??? Ive found so many blogs and forum posts about it but nobody has a definitive answer why. All i can find is opinions and ideas. So after emails to sony and them telling me its O2. Then emails to O2, and only being told there is a web page to sim unlock my phone (morons!) I decided to try the online chat help thing..... 5 attempts and several days at it, i have just been talking to someone that understands...he even told me to goto.......XDA...woohoo, but still no joy....he has no idea but ive made progress.....
Ha! Senoir member

Welcome to O2. A Guru will be with you soon.

You're through to Guru Jake.
Jake:
Hi I'm Jake. How can I help?
Rob:
I really hope you can....Im trying to find out some info about custyomizing
my phone
Jake:
I'll be happy to help you.
Rob:
I want to be able to install custom firmwares, and custom versions of android
onto my phone....I know it is more than possible as i was able to do so with
my X10 i had (also with O2). The process involves unlocking the bootloader of
the phone (not sim unlocking) Unlocking the bootloader is fully supported by
Sony but for some reason O2 have locked the function and im trying to find
out how i can get it unlocked
Jake:
Okay.
Jake:
Please can you help me with your full name as it's registered on your
account?
Rob:
Rob*********************
Jake:
Thanks.
Jake:
Please contact sony for boot loaders as we have not locked it
Jake:
and if you install custom rom the warant is void on the phone
Rob:
OMG some help that understands!!! Thank you but i have already contacted sony
and they tell me to talk to you....because if i follow the instructions on
this website (-http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/) i must enter
*#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu. In your phone, tap Service info >
Configuration > Rooting Status. On my phone it says "No" and according to
Sony technical assistance that is a functin set by O2. If i had bought the
phone outright and not on contract it would be "Yes" and i would have no
problem. But for some reason O2 decided to lock this function preventing
contract customers from installing custom firmware....i understand that it
will void my warranty, adnd i am OK with that. I just wish to find out how i
can get O2 to unlock the function and allow me to void my warranty
Jake:
I do understand that you wish to get the full experiance of your anrdoid
phone by rooting and installing custom roms, I would sugegst you to check on
XDA and they will have a greak for it and please note its at your own risk
and O2 will never all this as fas as I know.
Rob:
I am already a member. I even made my own ROM for my previous phone, the X10.
According to XDA and FXP the bootloader being locked is due to the phone
operator, and only happens to contract customers. But strangly enough, not
all operators do this. Is there any way you could find an official O2 answer
as to why they wont allow this?
Jake:
I guessed as much you would be one of the serior members of XDA. To be frank
I do not know whether O2 unlocks it or not but I can send this entire chat to
my manager to get this checked for you and I can then reply to via via email
about this
Rob:
That would be great if you could. Its frustrating as hell not being able to
install custom ROMs
Jake:
I understand your concern.
Jake:
I'd be upset too if I'd be in your place.
Jake:
Can I take your preferred email address?
Rob:
yeah - 7hr08ik*****@****com
Jake:
Thanks.
Jake:
Please give me a minute.
Jake:
Thanks for waiting.
Jake:
I've forwarded this request and will inform you asap.
Rob:
Thank you. Even if i cant just get an answer as to why, would be good
Jake:
You're welcome :)
Jake:
I'll let you know with a detail explanation to this.
Rob:
Cheers
Jake:
It was really nice chatting with you :)
So when i hear back from his boss.....im gonna give him an earfull untill i can get them to allow me to void my warranty!!! Let me do it dam you!
thats the reason you should buy a factory ulocked phone....
I know. But there must be a service to unlock it once I have finish my contract and paid off the phone right?
So if I can find out what it is, maybe I can make so headway to getting it sorted

Dear Jun-Ho Cho,
We've started a petition yesterday on Change.org in an attempt to gain the attention of your company. We have gained over 250 signatures in less than 24 hours. There are many of us who feel it would be very beneficial to have the option to unlock the bootloaders on our G4 mobile devices. I understand you offer the option on one European model. We would like to respectfully request the option to unlock the bootloader on all models. This would benefit the development of your phone fiercely!
I am aware the results of your sales for the G4 are far below the projected sales volume. I can guarantee, the unlocking of the bootloaders would boost your sales significantly.
Please Mr. Cho, consider our request.
Respectfully Yours,

Rightfull efforts should not be taken as spams, no matter how much we have faith in the future of it..
The companies build their plans about what (not) to give their customers, not only over the demanding people but also the un-demanding people.
So, do demand. That won't kill your cat.
Just a suggestion, I would rename this topic to "Please sign the petition to LG, to unlock the bootloader for all G4 variants"
....and unlock bootloader for all but WITHOUT loose warranty !!! it's really possible ???!!!
And they can make this effort because it's daylight robbery ,scandalous, to buy a phone with a very big problem of hardware ("bootloop&dead" illness)
mine is still work but i sympathize with persons who have had this serious problem...

Guys keep in mind!!!! Only chans devs.LG never help ......
But good look and hello spam topic....(sorry)
I do know we are a minority here on XDA, compared to the whole mobile phone market. However I also know that many of us are asked when a friend or a relative tries to decide to a new device. So we actually have the power to influence enough amount of customers and shape the market. I, for one, have been doing this for many years. Now, there is no single person in my life with a Samsung device. I have talked them into other devices.
I know that this is a technical forum and needs to be well-organized. But in this case, just to show the power of us, customers, a few extra topic wouldn't hurt anyone.
I remember the times when companies backing off to "ok, we will honor the warranty because it is a manufacturing fault, so it has nothing to do with your device being rooted" and giving new phones to the rooted users couple years ago. And the reason behind it was the topics here, on XDA, about many people having the same problem.
So, long story short, showing how we are feeling about our devices and their companies (and also carriers sometimes) is necessary in the way I see things.
I think, more power to topics like these everywhere.
Whether you think it helps or not, switching off a light bulb that you are not using in your house, our sending a dollar somewhere in the world when you can spare it, makes a difference.
It's those people who start something that eventually save us all.
Onward.
