That, or the rom is corrupt. Or the rom isn't meant for the evo
I've never seen black ice here before. That's not the ander web theme/rom he created is it. I know he has versions for different phones but didn't think for evo. At least not in a long time

Thank you for proving my point in that the was NOT for the evo.
First thanks founder.
I never understand people that try to flash ROMs for other phones...
I mean, wouldn't it be obvious that it's not going to work?
Black Ice Rom is for the Galaxy S 4G from Samsung, its not meant to be installed on the EVO.http://androidspin.com/2011/06/22/rom-krylon360-bionix-black-ice-galaxy-s-4g-for-samsung-galaxy-s-4g/
@HipKat - I think it's OK to try things out that "shouldn't" work... it's part of the learning process. People who are newer to all this are going to try things that are obviously wrong to more experienced people... but it shows a good inquisitive spirit, no? When I think of all the time I wasted trying to install the Sense camera on a non-Sense ROM... oy.
I flashed BlackIce the other day and it's looking like a keeper!

You and everyone else that's new to this need to realize that flashing something incorrectly can f your phone up. A borked radio flash can perm brick your phone for example. Read thoroughly and make sure before you flash anything that you check md5s, and since roms, kernels, radios, miss, etc are model specific make sure that you are in the right forum.
seriously? I'm a noob to custom roms on my evo but I know not to do that.

Will there be any compatibility issues trying to flash nandroid backups made with 2.5.1.2?
3.0 is not working for me I can't flash in recovery?
It's only allowing me to recover gingerbread. I can't flash new roms either.
I just installed 3.0.0.2 and I havent tried any new ROM's or GB ROM's yet.

"gingerbread recovery" doesn't make any sense.
Recoverys aren't specific to whichever ROM you have installed.

Yeah come on. I have it and have flashed fresh and miui with it just fine. I even did a recover nandroid just to check if it was compatible with old nandroids and it worked fine.

Not to be confused with the new version of Rom Manager which is... 3.0.0.2

It does if Gingerbread uses ext4 and previous Android versions do not. Especially if ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0 doesn't support the earlier file systems.

Two "ifs" in that sentence.
Just cause it may allow for the use of ext4 doesn't mean it's not backward compatible.

Being as it was released via Rom Manager for all, I would doubt that they would release something like that which isn't.
I just got an Incredible at the begging of December and i know a little bit about this stuff and i follow the directions everyone gives me and nothing seems to work. Every mod that i have tried on my phone will NOT work. Oh and the UOT Kitchen things won't work either. I have Android 2.2 rooted before unrevoked 3.3 came out, with software 3.26.6. Any suggestions? Should I unroot and then reroot with unrevoked 3.3? Please help this is really annoying.

I tried the UOT Kitchen roms...Pushing though ADB and flashing it with all boot loops in result.
The themed market...Pushing though ADB and flashing it with all boot loops in result, and market failure open.
I can't do any themes at all.
I've never had any luck pushing anything. I always have to flash it.

Yes it is. How do I fix that?
Over the last few weeks many of you have had problems with boot looping roms and not being able to restore a nandroid. 9 times out of 10 the problem comes down to being cw 3.0.0.5.
Our Q & A forum has been flooded with questions about problems that could have been avoided if people would simply take a few minuets to update their recovery. This is NOT something that is mandatory, but please save yourself as well as the people that take the time to fix everyones problems a headache! There are two simple ways to flash the recovery listed below. Thank you all for adhering to this request, it will be appreciated!
Option94, Zinx and Koush have taken the time out of their lives to put this new recovery together for all of us. So please remember to thank them!
I have attached a copy of the recovery to this thread. For those of you who have the eng SPL (0.85.2007) place the file in your AndroidSDK\tools\ folder and the run this script from fastboot
Fastboot flash recovery c:\AndroidSDK\tools\recovery.img
If you don't have the eng spl or if you are unfamiliar with ADB you can use TrueBlue_Drew meathod below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681
You can also try flashing this version from your recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=555930&d=1301465416
You can find the original cw 3.0.0.6 thread from option94 below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952433
mod maybe u could sticky this for a few weeks
You're right that this gets asked a lot. It should be stickied!
You might want to add that you must have the engineering SPL (0.85.2007) to use the fastboot method. I can imagine people trying that and not being able to, and not knowing why.
There's already a similar sticky in the Q&A section.
Yep, thanks.
Rom manager will only flash version 3.0.0.5. This is version 3.0.0.6. This is still the needed recovery for the 2 different file systems.
Ok. Perhaps we do still need this. Maybe I haven't flashed enough ext3 ROMs...lol
nice of you to post this even tho 3.0.0.6 has been out for awhile now. been using for couple months

Yeah it has, and that's the whole point. Despite 3.0.0.6 being out for so long, people still aren't using it and have no idea why their ROM won't boot.
yeah, but its THEIR fault for not researching and reading thru the forum

I agree! However, THEM not researching leads to the same question being asked over and over, which means WE end up answering it over and over. So it's to everyone's benefit to be informed, and hopefully threads like this will help in that matter.
totally agree
I may have a better solution. Need to see if I can get a hold of koush though.
I wonder why ROM Manager doesn't have it yet. (I've been circumventing ROM Manager anyway and just flashing through fastboot.)

Because 3.0.0.6 was not created by Koush and is therefore not an "official" build of CWM. It was created by option94 and distributed on XDA.

Technically, all I did was compile his source code for it. Its still his.
Maybe somebody will email koush and see if he is willing to put 3.0.0.6 in the Rom manager.

I've been trying alot of ROMs lately and they have not been working! I either get a getprop or Status 7 installation aborted error. I've also tried to update 2.2 Froyo to 2.3 Android and get a model ID error. If there are any ROMs for my CDMA that work could you help me with a tut or something! , if not tell me so i can stop trying.
Cyanogenmod definitely works.. also don't try to use GSM RUU's for your CDMA phone or you'll end up with a brick
I like Cyanongen Mod, but I love HTC Sense! I'm looking for a HTC Sense ROM cause Android is fast, but i like the sense UI.
There are a few out there. I'm struggling to find one with sense that I like. However, Oxygen is a good rom that I've been using recently.

Ok I've tried to flash them in ClockworkMod but I always get an getprop or status 7 installation. Aborted error Or stuck in bootloop!
Anyone out there? ??
have you tried using a different recovery perhaps?
You're not likely to get as much help as you would with GSM phone since they're so uncommon and so... difficult.. lol

alright i have this evo with hboot .97 how do i go about updating this because its not updating through ota
You need to search through the dev section, for the radios / hboot thread. Pick the version you want from the thread, and then follow the instructions. Personally, I recommend the 2.10 hboot, but there really is no need for you to change your hboot.

His advice is best, however;
you need to be S-OFF first before you can flash radios. You will need to flash this file through your (Custom) Recovery first.

I would flash it on amon ra or an older cwm recovery; I believe the package it written in amend scripting, and I can't remember if twrp on the evo supports amend packages; otherwise you'll get an error flashing it in recovery.

I'm on the GSIII, I used to be on the evo and did some good work here, lol. if you want a 100% stable rom, you'll need to look at gingerbread roms. Most of the ICS roms are fairly stable, but have bugs inherent to them, like no front facing camera, due to hardware limitattions, etc, and some jellybean roms, but they'd have bugs as well.
