I am running FB15 on CM9 and have had a pretty good experience with it. Has anyone moved to the latest radio, FC09 (i think it is still the latest)???? Did it make a difference? Is it worth changing over to it?
haven't seen any difference in Daytona area. I really don't think they are doing any modem work since EI22.

I have to say I believe fc09 appears more consistant on day 2 of testing! 4g and 3g are more consistant on speeds and much less fluctuation than fb15

YAAAYUUUUUHH!!!!
I no longer have Sprint service but, instead, uses it on WIFI. I noticed battery life under use is better with FC09, GPS is back to being more accurate and the automatic brightness is finally more consistent, whereas, before it used to fluctuate.

Modem only effects signal, 1x, and 3g. If you only use wifi, you do not need a modem.

It sounds like he has the whole update, not just the modem.
FC09 gave my data speeds a little boost and more consistency as well as made my WiFi speeds jump up a whole 10 Mbps. Very worth the tedious task of collecting files, odining back to EL30, then using the CWM 5.0.2.7 zip to flash the FC09 delta file, even with a 20% chance of possible corruption that would cause me to start the entire process over again.
I'm on FB15 and have been since it leaked....seems like the whole community skipped over it and jumped directly to FC09 tho might jump ship myself soon enough but as of late I've had great 3G speeds and download speeds (could be the 3G Turbo tweak tho) and I never use wifi so.

Dunno, that's what I thought as well, but I can't explain the boost in speed otherwise.

ok, i asked this question originally to see if there was a definite answer. seems to be half and half. however, being that i am on cm9 with fb15, what is the easiest way to install fc09? should i boot in to stock rom from my sddisk and install fc09, or can i just odin the modem directly to the phone while on cm9? i tried to odin it a while back and screwed the entire phone up and had to start all over.
Just Odin the modem directly.

Do you bother to read posts? Odin the fc modem on its own, or titanium backup your apps and flash the fc tar and reinstall your apps. How many hand outs do you need?

the reason i asked is i did odin it and caused my phone to not boot up. i had to start all over. if you do not have anything constructive or professional to say, perhaps you should keep it to yourself. you are probably 5'2" and angry at the world and what,...17 and no life?

when you odin just the modem it should be a modem.bin in the phone section of odin I believe. someone else can chime in but for sure. but I had the same problem with the modem.tar for fc09. but if you have to start over just flash the official fc09 or fc19 tar then root and boot.

Can you give us some info? Is your device stock? Is it rooted? What Android version are you running and are you on a custom rom? If you can, post a picture of your About Phone page so we can see versions and firmwares please
With those questions answered we can take a look and see why you're not receiving your calls. There are a few reasons this could be happening, ranging from data toggles to APN settings. Without knowing what I'm working with, I can only speculate. When noticing these missed calls are you on a particular data network? 4G LTE through AT&T will momentarily disconnect and run on 3g while a call is implemented, then return to LTE 2-3 seconds after the call has ended. Maybe you have an option to prefer LTE and it's not disconnecting the data to allow the call? This may only occur on a custom rom though. Check your APN settings under APN type and make sure things like default, supl, mms are there.
If you're on a stock rom with stock recovery, you may want to consider backing up your data and performing a factory reset. This may not help at all though.
If you know what you're doing, and have root on a custom rom, then chances are you know how to flash a new radio (modem) and may want to research ones available to you and try flashing one of those. (NOTE: Be sure you know what you're doing before flashing anything, and remember to flash a radio (modem) twice for good measure. - MAKE SURE the modem is compatible with your phone model and your rom.
Mine does this every now and then. I assumed it is a network thing, but it may not be.

That is when it happened the first time for me also...and for a few days got 2 different stories. It started up again yesterday, I thought that I would post on here about it. I have come to a pretty safe conclusion that people on here know more about these phones than the people at Sprint. And I am thinking it is a network issue again...it has been ringing like it should this afternoon.
Area code 336? That's in NC, and where I live. Seven of my coworkers have switched from Sprint due to issues with the network. It is a local issue here though, and in Sprint's defense, they are trying hard to fix the issues. (I'm not knocking anyone or any carrier
If we are sure this is a network issue, it may be best to contact Sprint and ask if they have had others complaining about the same problem.

hi all,
I didnt find any threads that answered my question well, so if its a repeat my apologies. I am running Blu Kuban 1.0.5.4, it runs nice and smooth, i love everything about it, but i dont know JACK about modems in this sense. In about phone it says my modem is FF18, which seems right from everything i HAVE read lol, but then the BK build # say FL24.
i have read that GB and ICS modems are interchangeable, but i have no knowledge of where to start or IF i should bother messing with it. i know i have to travel to downtown orlando to catch a 4g signal, and 3g kinda sux and i get almost nothing inside my apt, and wifi is alot lower than i expected given i run a full dual-band DDWRT gigabit cat6 network.
so the crux of the question is the modem in the build number what it seems like? are the 2 conflicting or am i just misunderstanding al together lol and more, is there a better setup i can use, i know that tends to be phone specific but it seems like in general some prove to work well together and some dont.
thanks in advance for any/all help

FF18 is fine to run in BK FL24. Both are ICS. However, modems vary from phone to phone, location to location. I would try updating your modem to FL24, and after you reboot, update prl and profile, and see if that improves signal. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But the short answer is no, the build is not conflicting with your modem, it's most likely the area you are in. Play around with other modems, see if it helps! Good luck

for the first one the FL24 i used the internal updater built into BK, but after that i switched to mobile odin bc i was afraid it was an updater issue...though my battery was a tad low but it was on the charger, and a straight wall charger too not a usb to my pc charger. ah well im not sweating it, like i said im mostly home anyway so having a kick ass rom thats rock solid is more important anyway lol
Not sure if you know but mobile Odin does not support the flashing of modems for the epic touch. It may look like it flashes but nothing happens. Either desktop Odin or recovery is the only way to flash a modem.

Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. Sprint/Boost/Virgin Mobile should just link to this forum in their communities for all tech support issues. It's faster, better info, and way friendlier. And wow it beats the heck out of going into their stores. I remember when Garwynn would post in the Sprint forum for the E4GT, and his input was far better than the Sprint monitors.
I bought my phone already flashed to Verizon prepaid. It is currently on ICS 4.0.4 rooted stock build FH13. The guy who flashed it sold it to me and told me to never update it cuz it could destroy the flash. Is this true? Also, hot spot is working and i wouldn't want to lose that if i were to update. So should i just disable OTA update notifications with FOTAkill.apk and stay on 4.0.4?
When you update just change the APN for MMS. The flash should stay regardless of the ROM on the phone. Be sure to do a nandroid first. Also someone who has done a flash to another carrier can please chime in

DO NOT UPGRADE! If you're on PagePlus, the system WILL NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR PHONE. The place you bought it will charge you to re-flash it back to 4.0.4.
Just curious but how will flashing a new ROM in Odin or cwm make the system not recognize the phone? From what I can tell the "flash" was using the numbers from a donor phone. All the info used in the flash except the APN would all still be there after a new ROM flash. Can you not factory reset the phone after a flash to page plus as well? I would like to know what your info is. Because this is the first I have heard it.

Ok it looks like someone is saying it will be safe to update and someone else is saying that it is NOT safe to update. I cannot afford to lose the flash as I do not have access to a computer so I can't take the chance unless someone can absolutely positively for sure tell me that I will not lose my Verizon Prepaid flash.
If the Epic 4g Touch was made for Verizon I wouldnt be worried but being that its originally a Sprint phone I am having doubts. Isn't the OTA update designed for the Sprint Epic 4g Touch? If I do end up letting the OTA update install what version will I end up being on?

Well the update depends on which brand epic touch your on. (Sprint, Virgin Mobile, Boost) it will update you too jellybean either way just your modem will be different. I have a sprint brand.
Ya it is a pain to get MMS to work threw touchwiz without a 3rd party app of some sorts. I find it pretty easy on CM builds. I normally just ditch MMS and send the pic threw gmail cuz its less of a headache. But sure you can send me a screenshot of the settings. I'm willing to help as much as I can.

Okay three screenshots attached to this message. Thanks beezie
Interesting. I have the same settings saved on my computer for when I had touchwiz... This is what I was saying with having to use a 3rd party app and the headaches.
Have you considered jumping over to a cm10.1 build? MMS used to be a big issue for me until I realized what a pain it can be from phone to phone to upgrade etc. I'll flash over to stock tomarow after work and let you know if I can get it working right again. Sorry I can't be of more further help.

Im actually scared to flash my rom as i dont have access to a computer if it bricks. But i might if someone were to guarantee i wont lose root or flash AND i will still have wifi tethering capability. Im gonna do some research on the cm10.1 rom. Yea id appreciate it if you could help me out tomorrow. Thanks again man. Btw, does you're phone go into airplane mode every now n then? Mine does for about ten seconds then comes back on. It'll happen like maybe five times a day. Was wondering if that's normal. If not, is it something cm10.1 could fix?
Its not normal. There was a bunch of bugs in the ROM you are on. Being on that build though because its rooted you can use mobile Odin. To get the modem you would need to flash that in cwm though.

Yup patroa is correct. ICS builds for the epic touch were horrible. (In My Opinion) I wish I could give you a 100% guarantee that nothing could go wrong but there is always a small slight chance.
No its not normal for airplane mode to pop on from time to time.
I rooted and used mobile Odin to install a cwm and flashed a cm10.1 build all without a volume down button (can't easily get into download mode or at all) I was able to do it from a ICS build. The same build you are on.

What would you say the odds are of something going wrong? Like if you were to compare the amount of horror stories to the amount of success stories what the ratio look like? One bad scenario to one hundred successful ones?

Just follow directions to the letter. Almost all if not all issues in flashing ROMs are from not following directions close enough. You are already rooted so get mobile Odin from play store or here on xda download el26 or el29 kernel from the kernel repository DL the tar file flash in mobile Odin boot into recovery make backup wipe and flash the ROM of your choosing. There is a ton of awesome ones out there

I had Beanstalk on my phone for a while, no issues, upgrading to the 041414 (jftle) version that was posted. Ever since then weird things are happening. I would text people and I wouldn't get their response back. People would call but my phone wouldn't ring and they said it was giving a message 'out of calling area" etc.. I called from my house phone and it was say "one moment, then my phone would ring" I didn't have a NB4 modem on it before last week when this happened (I had the original modem that came with the S4 Tmob last year with JB.) Thinking it would help, I flashed the NB4 modem but no difference that I can tell
I tried to restore from nandroid and everything works but I still have the above problems, I tried a different rom, (all CYAN 11 based) but still same thing. It show in About, that I have a NB4 modem. Never had this issue before, any ideas? I tried different kernals also (ktoonz) etc..
Have you tried odining back to stock?

Went ahead and odin'ed to stock, but it still shows nb4 for baseband. When I call my number I get , ring, "one moment, please..." then it rings on my mobile phone. Is this something weird going on or what can be doing this?
