Are cases and batteries interchangeable between the Hercules and Skyrocket? The phone looks exactly the same
Does anyone have both to compare? If they're physically the same then the cases will fit both.

This is incorrect. The rear speaker is on the opposite side of ours. So the cases may fit but the speaker will be muffled due to being blocked.

this is the biggest advantage of owning an iphone. It doesn't matter which carrier you use accessories will work on any of them. the skyrocket is the same exact phone (ignoring LTE) except the placement of the speaker? that is just stupid. I hope htc and samsung learn that companies will be more likely to give their products a better selection of accessories when their products reach more people. Samsung has 5 different galaxy sIIs. Thats crazy.
Probably the only advantage LOL

I'm wondering if this would work too ... the SGP Neo Hybrid cases look pretty sweet. Even if the speaker is on the other side it would work well.
I wonder if they are going to make a T-Mobile/Telus version of the case??
EDIT: After checking it out, the headphone and second mic hole on the top are on the opposite sides as well ... so that sucks. I really hope they make another version.
Was thinking the same thing noticing that since it's on AT&T, they will be getting an Otterbox. Looking forward to the Seidio Active case and holster, though.

They are shaped slightly different, battery doors are completely different, speaker is on the other side. Your a mod bro, come on! (its a playful tone. I know you can't hear me but I'm just joshin you). But seriously, the cases wont work, the skyrocket is *slightly* thicker too. Look at go to "Samsung phones" and look at the dimensions (not to mention pics), its .1mm thicker. If you look at the pics side by side (I am as I type) the t989 is much more rounded where the skyrocket is more squared off like the i9100.

It doesn't bounce and you won't even know it's there after half a mile. I had mine for over a year and used it with an Evo 4g, nexus s, Photon, and an Epic 4g Touch. Ask for the bigger size model. You can fit extra batteries and keys in there too.
Is our phone the same dimensions of the infuse? I imagine since it's been out longer there may be some options and could fit our phones.

i tried the infuse 4G cases, they fit fine, not exactly the right size, but even the hard cases were big enough. the main issue is that the infuse is square at the corners. but any soft case or band or belt or fanny pack that fits the infuse should at least hold you over. i would say wait for an exact fit if you can, but the universalish armbands that fit the infuse will be 100% fine.

Do you think the fact that the Evo 3D is a little thicker mean the Epic 4G would move around inside the armband? I would want something to hold the phone tight. If so, then this seems good enough for me.

FYI, if you're picking up a Tunebelt there are a couple different sizes, I believe the one mentioned in the thread previously is the AB85, I ended up picking up the slightly smaller size, AB84, and it fits the 4.5" GSII just fine.
Granted I'm using the T-Mo variant but I believe the AB84 should fit the Sprint variant just as well.

Hey guys,
I am planning on jumping ship, I am just curious if the screen is a fingerprint magnet, or does it repel finger prints like the new screens which have special oleophobic coatings on them?
Also all around the device, does it feel sturdy or just plasticy as the Galaxy S2? is the body a finger print magnet as well?
Thanks a lot in advance guys,
Cheers

You better do it quick - Christmas is coming up and there won`t be enough phones for everybody to buy.
Its hard to explain, but its quite less fingerprint magnetic compared to iPhone 4. Device feels posh and solid from front, but back is plastic and feels a bit cheap. I`m not also fan of this "snake skin" pattern.

lesser than iPhone 4 sounds fantastic, because I currently own a HTC Desire and a LG Optimus 3D which, well too seem to collect a lot of fingerprints on the screen. I know there are options of using an anti fingerprint screen protectors, but I simply don't want to degrade the experience of that gorgeous screen.
I will keep that in mind *places order now* xD

The Galaxy Nexus, like the Nexus S before it, has an oleophobic coating on the screen.

I'm also in Dubai.. where are you planning on getting the Nexus from? I contacted Samsung and a few retailers but they don't have a clue to when they phone will arrive. If the SGS2 release is any indication, it will take 2 more months to get here!
I'm finding that the screen doesn't have a lot of fingerprints left on. I don't usually leave as much fingerprints as most other people anyway (I have pretty dry hands) but compared to other touchscreen devices I have it is leaving noticeably less fingerprints.
As for the rest of the body, the phones doesn't have a glossy finish so there will be no fingerprints at all. From what I have compared to my friend's S2, the device feels similar in the hand in terms of weight and shape, as they are both "plastic" phones.
Having said that I tend to disagree with people who say plastic phones feel cheap compared to metal phones. The Galaxy Nexus feels pretty solid and premium in my hand, with no creaky plastics or awkward edges. Sure it doesn't have the weight you get with metal but I'm not sure why having a heavy phone is a good thing.

I agree, i came from a Nexus One and loved the build of that and was a bit hesitant about the Galaxy's plastic build but it does feel solid. My sister has an S2 and IMO the Nexus feels and looks a much better build quiality, also the colouring of it makes it not feel as plastic.
I still would of preferred a metal backing to the device but i'm not dissapointed with the way it is.
For my part:The device feels solid, well built, classy. This compares to the Optimus Black (my outgoing device) which had all those qualities, but felt somehow 'less premium', The device before that was the Desire HD - a metal phone that was so badly built it was thrown back, the device before that the first Desire, reasonably well made, slightly plasticy button feel! and before that the Hero - felt bulletproof at the time!
Fingerprints: My better-half has the 4S ... "much less fingerprints than the iPhone" her words, not mine!
A friend has the Galaxy S2, handling it for a few hours around a month ago - is why I waited for the Galaxy Nexus!!
I heard rubbing RainX on it once a week will eliminate fingerprints.
Good to know about the coating. My Asus Transformer was nasty until I threw on a nifty screen protector (I wanted one anyway for that 10 incher). I've never tried RainX. My G2x stays pretty clean.

I never had a Nexus One, so I cannot compare to that. I've had an HTC Magic and HTC Desire in the past, but I don't remember too much about fingerprints on them. I can say that the cases of the HTC's didn't show fingerprints at all (the Magic was white, so it would have never shown at any rate). I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S, and I can say that the Galaxy Nexus's screen is way way more fingerprint-resistant than the Galaxy S - I'm looking at them right now - the GN has one small smudge on it, and the GS is covered (screen-wise).
The GN case is matte, so it doesn't pick up fingerprints at all.
By sheer coincidence I ran into the Regional Manager for Samsung in the UAE - he was carrying a Samsung Note and I wanted a closer look so I approached him. If you go by the way Samsung handles launches here, then yes, Jan is what you are looking at, I'm hearing a mid dec. launch from sources but then again, they tend to push the dates when they feel like. So I can't vouch for that.
Been using my new toy all day today and I can say WOOW - screen is really clean, very very little fingerprints even with my oily fingers. Impressive, well done Sammy!
iPhone 4 just looked terrible
I was torn on posting this in the accessories or the Q&A area, but, here goes.
We have an "exciting" new accessory for the Note. Now you can legally work
"hands free" in your car or office, without using a bluetooth, or wired headset!
Saw this on TV, so it must be a good one. And, act now, and you'll get TWO for the price of ONE (just pay separate process & handling of course)
It can even hold the weight of a FIVE POUND laptop! Wow! You can "hands free" your laptop to your ear! Cool!!

as the title says, anyone with a Note II thinking about ditching it for a One? don't get me wrong, i love my N2, but it's something about it that i don't like. maybe its the size, and coming from a G2, the plastic annoys me also. I'm just not sure if I want to give up the screen real estate, and the powerful battery.
On the other hand, the one is GORGEOUS, the camera is better, and i dont mind giving up the LED display for a 468(?)ppi display. Plus, i prefer Sense over any other version of android. its much more polished.
any thoughts?
Think you answered your own question here really. It's simply a better quality device. Win factor!

I just sold my Sprint Note 2 for $550, with the HTC One in mind. I figured I'll sell now while the phone could feach a pretty penny.
I too love the N2 but its size does somewhat get annoying. I figured I could try the HTC One and if I don't like it I could resell that and by then the GS4 will be announced.
Its basically a never ending cycle of phone for me.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
I'll be selling mine as well. I'm not a huge HTC or Sense fan, but this phone is too sexy to pass up.
I'm thinking about it. I am expecting the screen on the One to be the best you can find on the market judging by the HTC One X's Super LCD 2 is the best that I have used so far. So I am likely to switch over, the only thing that's making it difficult is a great battery and I actually enjoy the screen size.
The Note 2 I had already went to my dad A long time ago. I still use my old DHD
Why? I just hate the plastic feel.
The WORST part of the Note 2 was that it would take 2 seconds to turn on the screen... I couldn't stand it after 2 weeks and gave it to him.
Why do Samsung devices take so long to wake? It is for that reason I am hesitant to buy the GS4.
There are only two reasons anyone should consider the N2 in the first place:
- They are heavy productivity users and get a lot of use out of S Pen, S Note, multiview, airview, etc.
- They want the 5.5" display to try and have a single device double as a phone and a tablet.
Since OP didn't mention either of those two things he probably should have gotten a high-end smartphone and not have had to deal with the N2's enormous size. The N2 was never meant to compete with the likes of the SGS3, One X, and Optimus G and neither the One nor SGS4 will have the productivity features of the N2 so they aren't real competitors either. A lot of people bought the N2 only because it was "shiny and new" rather than for what it could do. They are the ones that create threads like this. So, OP, get the One as it’s probably a lot more suited to your needs than the N2 ever would be.
As for "plastic." Samsung's devices are as well built and durable as HTC's. To allow for the removable battery a lot of people still consider important they have paper thin plastic back covers that peel off to allow access to the battery. It's a design choice to accommodate function. The design's been that way since the SGS2 came out. With ten times more SGS3's sold than One X's (an admittedly more handsome device) the public would seem to be OK with it. And the N2's internals are made of magnesium (item 3 below) which is an expensive (but light) alloy to work with.

yeah, i didn't get it for the TW features. after a few weeks i put paranoid on it. but i did get it to double as a phone and tablet. if i do get the one, i'll have to get used to a normal sized phone not running phablet mode. but i didn't get it because it's "shiny and new". like i said , i needed something that doubles as a phone and tablet. but on a day to day thing, it gets uncomfortable sometimes.
but samsung devices are not as durable as most HTC phones, plastic just can't stand up to metal/aluminum. imo, the galaxy s iii outsold the one x because it was on 5 different carriers (and of course samsungs amazing marketing). the one x being exclusively on AT&T is the reason i didn't get it. & it doesn't too much matter what the inside of your phone is made of when you drop it and the cheap material on the outside can't protect the phone from damage.

Based on what? There were as many One X/L/+'s with displays cracked from drops as there were SGS3's and N2's. HTC had tons of issues with the Teg3 One X including public acknowledgment that the design caused Wi-Fi issues on some devices because of tolerances not met in the production process. And most of HTC's recent phones have been plastic too. Here's what happens to the matte finish on the One X(s) and DNA/Butterfly when exposed to any kind of abrasion. So I totally get that people like HTC's designs better (I do too) but that doesn't make them more durable.
And here's what happens to aluminum-backed devices with wear.

HTC took the best deal they could get. I'm sure if VZW and T-Mobile (Sprint did sort of) wanted to sell the One X they wouldn't have ended up in an AT&T exclusive. The One X was a beautiful device with a fantastic display cursed with an undersized battery and laughable storage on the XL and adequate storage on the One X. HTC's 2012 with the One's was their worst in history in terms of revenue, margin, and market share and that takes in to account worldwide sales not just what happened here in the U.S. I'm sure that wasn't what they were planning on when the One's were in R&D. Any how or why Samsung outsells them is less important than the fact HTC will be out of business soon if they don't come up with a formula to drastically improve sales. Let’s hope the One is a step in that direction.

A uni-body design (One X/One) can't distribute impact as well as a modular design. You'll see the battery cover fly off a Samsung device in most drop tests. That's a by-product of the energy of the impact being dissapated. Here's a N2 that survived a drop from 5'.
And here's a Samsung device being torture tested.
I was a very happy Teg3 One X owner and wouldn't hesitate to buy another HTC device if it met my needs. I'm using an N2 now and happy with it too but that doesn't mean I've suddenly become a Samsung fan-boy. Every device and the manufacturers that build them have strengths and weaknesses and it's not blasphemy to talk about them.

Also thinking of switching. My Note 2 is sold already, so now eyeing the HTC One.

yay welcome, really liked the stock slim rom that you made for the note 2!
Well, I just bought myself a Note 2 and love it wouldn't ditch it for a htc one!
hmmm... now I looked at the pictures from the camera... damn
I must say they are pretty different!
Note 2 is a 5.5'' while One is 4.7'' so it's a big difference in screen size
Note 2 is all plastic a la samsung meaning c.r.a.p. while the One is premium aluminum body
So if you don't like huge screen smartphones but prefer a 1080p delicious screen with Terminator build phone switch the damn phone
Seeing that this phone was not intended to go up against htc one, it sure is holding it own. Most post I reading only problem with the note is the material it made from. I say isn't this the reason we have insurance and for all those that are prone to dropping their phone..get a good case. Why do I need a phone that is waterproof? How many times are you going to drop it into the toilet? I got my note because I want phone and tablet and the note has lived up to that. I like the spec's of the one and if I was to cross over it would be because I want a new toy. Not because of some lame excuse the phone is aluminum.

Driving a BMW 7 series with full option is the same as driving a kia picanto?
All the luxury and refined material make the BMW make you love to use it,the One is the same, just feel the aluminum body in your hand and the playschool samsung in the other and you will understand
I'm thinking about switching to the one it has great spec but not sure about the battery life. Note 2 has awesome battery life lasts.

Currently using note 2 as well. I am selling in the coming days. That $$$ will go to my htc one.
I love the size of the note 2. I've always been partial to htc. I've had the opportunity to play with them side by side and I will have to adjust to a smaller screen. Yes, 4.7 is quite small after using the note 2.

Like I said this argument would be valid if we were comparing to same things. I would argue about beats headphones vs Boise. I wouldn't argue a BMW (luxury car) vs an economy car. The consumer is buying for different reasons. BMW consumers has money and therefore it looks and feel pretty is okay. Economy consumers are on a budget therefore the question for them is can it get me from point a to point b.

Wow. I've been using HyperDroid ROMs on my Note2 and I'm very happy to see you here!
And to the topic: my feelings with Note2 are absolutely same as OP. I hate the plastic and I never use s-pen. Its going to be my first HTC Android phone (had Titan 'bout year ago).
I'm seriously considering it, as much as I love the note 2 it feels too big in my hands. The One has a beautiful design, great screen, high ppi and those dual speakers are all things that attract me to it. But I'm waiting for the SGS4 reveal and user experience before making any decisions, I want to know how good the battery life is and if the gpu throttling is going to ruin the gaming experience on the device. If the phone holds up and the rumored specs of the SGS4 turns out to be true, I'm more than likely getting the One in black. But I will miss the expandable memory and amazing battery life of the Note though. Only time will tell
Hi guys, no a long time ago we saw a chinesse website selling Iphone-like aluminum case for GS3. But this website was WAY too creepy and unsecure. I've found the same product over here : www .casefanatic.com/samsung-2/galaxy-s3/metal/hunterf-galaxy-s3-thin-alu-bumper-case/ no spacing
on a secure website and with a lot of choise for color !
I've ordered one today !
looks like an ad...
look cool
If you want your phone to look like an iPhone then but am iPhone and not some cheap look alike.
Even come topped off with a brushed bezel haha
Well, not a bad idea, I wonder about the reception quality though since a metal case also shields the built in antenna..
I have one, and I have to say that I have got it not because I want my phone to look like an iPhone, but I like the metal touch and sturdiness my SG3 has now.
I have notice some minor wifi signal but has far as gsm, there was no loss (that was one of mine concerns).
I can say that I am happy with the results.
Ordered mine today.
hmm thinking of getting this case but some comments on the video said it blocks service. can anyone confirm?
You can buy it from ebay for 18 dollars seach ultra thin case samsung galaxy s3

looks good but...
wifi and cellular reception will drop dramatically. I used this. no doubt it gave the phone an awesome looks and feel but i couldn't live with very low reception.
Just received it, it's really nice. Haven't noticed any difference in signals. Still need to check NFC.
Ordered the black/silver. Don't like the combo, so I'll be ordering the all silver.
I'm going to start telling people it's the iPhone 5S/6... Lol.

Where are you located?
I don't have this case but I tried using a different case with a metal backing and NFC (including S-Beam) is blocked. It was only the backing and not all around so I can't say for sure if the signal strength will be affected by this case. Looks very cool though.
