[REVIEW] Ballistic SG Case (UPDATE)

UPDATE:
I have seen a lot of questions about people seeing this case with out the lip portion which is on the top right of the screen. I just found this case on ebay which is half the price and does not have the lip.

Ballistic SG Case for T-Mobile
I just saw it on eBay and it looks like a great case for protection.
Here is the company's site with the standard S2. They haven't added our phones yet to their site.

Just recieved it today. I like the way it looks but it has a couple of drawbacks.
Pros:
1) Pushing the volume or power button is the best I have seen yet for the T-Mobile GS2 cases. Very fluid just like there isnt a case and the buttons make the natural noise that they make just like not using a case.
2) Seems to be the best protection I have seen for the GS2. I think it will handle a drop very easily.
3) I dont have a screen protector but the way this is designed I dont see how this case would cause any issues like the D30 cases do due to a tight fit. Its somewhat loose and should not cause the corners of a screen protector to lift up.
4) Has a great feel to it and adds some weight to the phone.
5) Protects the back camera perfectly.
6) It does add some thickness to the phone but this is because the phone is extra protected. I would say it is about 1.5x to 1.75x as thick as the phone without a case on it.
Cons:
1) The first layer is rubber and due to this fact it has a few issues.
2) Collects lint easily from your pocket.
3) Can be difficult at times to put in and out of your pocket due to the rubber.
By far though this is the best case I have had for a phone. I own a couple of TPU cases for the T-Mobile GS2 and a D30. It makes the D30 look like junk even though the D30 is a great basic case.It has some drawbacks but the pros outweigh the cons. I definitively recommend this case to anyone that wants the ultimate protection for their phone and doesnt mind cleaning the lint off everyonce in a while. If you like my review please give me a thanks.

just saw one too. didnt kno that they started to make them yet. their a little bulky for my line of work. and since im a student im not really in the situations where is need THAT Much protection....but do a review if you get one.

Got mine. I love it! It does add xtra bulk. Forgot cam at office. Will post pics tomorrow.
Highly recommended. Fits perfect. Buttons easy to push. 2 pieces, inside rubber and outside hard plastic. Hasn't bubbled up my zagg yet. All holes line up as they should. Looks super cool. A++++++. I have to say yes... I'll take measurement tmrw but the corners are thicker than all of it. Its still not bad. Fits in my pocket n like how it feels in my hand ... I like the texture of back compared to the d3o.
To be fair, the rubber corners will pick up lint just like vibrant otter box. This thing is maximum protection...

i agree, i like the idea of the full protection but this case makes to phone wayyy to bulky, i feel like im carrying around one of those old ass phones that looked like bricks. haha

Thanks, got one on order. This will be my 4th and hopefully final case for this phone, I am a fan of otterbox so I think I will like it. I started with the black bodyglove from tmobile, not a bad case but a pain in the ass to take of so I got one of the clear TPU cases from ebay and its a great case. And then the D30 came out so I exchanged the bodyglove for it, had to take it back because it fit like crap, the next one fit 95% better but is still uneven around the edges and for a $25.00 piece of rubber it should be perfect like the $7.00 one from ebay.

The first D30 that I got was from T-Mobile. That one fit perfectly, just didn't like the way how the button press felt. So then I also got a TPU case from eBay. Next thing T-Mobile gave out the cases so I picked it up, returned the original one I bought at T-Mobile store, but then the one I got from T-Mobile online, it fit 95% and was bubbling up my Realook. I was hoping for a Seidio case to come first but since I've heard good things about Ballistic case, I gave it a shot. Waiting for it to come in the mail now.

Oh yeah, that was the other thing, the buttons. Volume not too bad, power button was a PITA on the D30.

Got the case today and its awesome.

Video Review: Case-Mate Tough Case

Hey guys,
I usually post on the Int. Galaxy S II and Nexus S forums but my roommate recently picked up the Epic Touch 4G so I'm going to start with some coverage on cases for the device. The folks over at Case-Mate sent me out their Tough case for review, and I will be bringing more reviews of their cases in the coming weeks.
The Tough case is a dual layered case that offers good protection and style, although is it a little thick. You can find the full video below:

I would love to see a review of the barely there brushed aluminum case that casemate is making for the phone.

I have the case mate tough case, its very nice, not incredibly easy to get on and off, but nice. I came from the otterbox commuter on my evo, but am very pleased with the protection the tough case offers. Best out there I think

I agree! Taking it off is easy for me, however putting it back on can sometimes be a pain.

Don't bother. I placed an order a couple days ago and it was taking my item forever to ship. I called them and they told me the item was on backorder and they won't be receiving stock till 11/30. I can confirm the item is backordered, they are now saying 11/22, so I am cancelling my order.

I have posted some comparison shots in this review thread.
To be honest though, I didn't like the Brushed Aluminium all that much.. ended up giving it to a co-worker and ordering another TPU Matte Back Black.

Got my tough case today for Christmas. Must say that I love it. The tpu I had wasn't bad but the added protection and grip of this case is much better! Comparable to an otterbox commuter series. Not super bulky like the defender series.

[Q]Best case so far?

I am finally getting my sgs2 tomorrow and need a recommendation for the best case. I'm looking at the incepio or the d30 or the body glove silver. I am looking for the maximum protection while having the buttons be easily pushable. Bulk is not a factor. Please advise I need to decide by tommorow. Thank you.

I tried the D30 and the Incipio Sillicylic and they se both good cases. The D30 feels good but the damn buttons are too hard too push. The Incipio looks good and protects well but it's a damn lint magnet. I.bought the white Body Glove today at a local Tmobile and I like it alot better than the other two. Looks good, protects well, and the buttons are easy to push. Plus it fits nicely in the Seidio Holster LOL!

off topic, I'm also die hard laker fan and its not looking good for us. Odem for nothing and to our rivals? No chris paul, if we don't howard and a good point guard its gonna be a long season.

I got the D30 (Flex Prot.) cover and applied the hack that I found on xda to stick a small piece of paper behind the volume and power buttons and it works perfectly. Without the paper, as everyone has mentioned, it is hard to depress them.
FYI, I bought it on ebay for half the price of T-mobile retail.

I ordered the Trident Aegis today and should have it in several days. I'll take pics and do a little review, etc. Can't weigh in on any others as I currently do not have a case.

If you want the most protection w/o the fear of bulk, get the Ballistic case. My little cousin dropped my phone onto cobblestone in a distance of 4 feet TWICE, and survived both falls with no blemishes to the case either.

im thinking about getting the ballistic case, how much bulk does it add? i also hate the silicone as it attracts dust and it doesnt slide near as well as tpu. any of these problems with yours?

I was going to get the ballistic case, but the corners just seemed so bulbous. So I went with the trident aegis because I am definitely into the protection, but I like the smooth corners. I was not sure if the fact that the corners stick out so much would bother me or not. I can tell you about the trident aegis in a few days. It is in the mail now.

Ok, how do I know authentic TPU cases from the Ebay garbage? Mine is coming in next week, need to order it so it arrives promptly.

D30 Case is awesome. Try a few of the D30 cases if you go in to the T-Mobile store. You'll see that some of them have more ease of pressing the buttons. The first one I had was really hard to press the buttons, I took it in to return it but tried a different one and its like butter

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I have decided to go with the seidio active case for my first case. I like the fact that it has a kick stand and it looks like it will provide good protection.

Got my wife the white BG, she loves it, I wish I had gotten it for myself instead. I'm using Black TPU...its ok

I got an awesome one from ebay, it's gelly, and matte, it's awesome!

After getting used to the buttons, I love my D30 case

I used to love my white D3O case until it started develop the common cracking issue. no drops,I just take my case off to wash and santitize weekly.
I wish I went with the white BG as it still a lightweight case and no bulk

Which one?

D30 and Body Glove from T-Mobile and several cheap ones from eBay, I decided to try the Trident case.
By far, the best case IMO

Elago Breath Cases GS3 White & Blue pictured on white GS3

Hey guys I ordered two Elago Breathe Cases for the GS3 from Amazon. I purchased the Glossy White as well as a blue called Glossy Coral. They cost $9.99 each and since I have prime I got two day shipping for free. Here is the direct link for the cases for the GS3:

I purchased the white one for myself and the blue one for my girlfriend. The cases are very thin and sleek. They feel great in the hand and do not add extra bulk to the phone. The top and bottom of the case is open so you wont get overall protection there, so be careful when handling it and not dropping it. There is a slight lip, but I don't think that it will keep the phone raised up enough off a surface if you lay the phone flat on the screen side. I would definitely recommend putting a screen protector on to be combined with this case. I had already purchased a screen protector the day I picked up the phone from the store, however Elago actually sells the case together with a screen protector from amazon as well. The prices for the two combined are $24.99, and the screen protectors from Elago are $8.99 alone. There are cut outs on the sides for the power button and the volume rocker. I feel that the cut outs aren't recessed enough, and your made aware of it however it does not bother me too much. Overall I am very happy with the cases especially for the price. I would definitely buy from Elago again, and I do like the variety of colors that they offer the cases in. I like the Breathe style because they are different than all of these other snap on thin cases and make the phone stand out more. I took some pics from various angles with both cases on the phone and off the phone with my dslr so you guys can take a look for yourselves.

nice review. how well does the phone stay in the case though? i've been hesitant with snap on cases because i'm afraid the phone will come out of it.

are they grippy or are they still really smooth? I am planning on getting a case only because the phone is so smooth i know i'm going to drop it eventually.

Thanks! The phone is snug within the case. It hasn't come out of the phone. It fell earlier today, and the case popped off but i've had that happen with other cases though. When it fell, there was not damage to the phone. THANK GOD! LOL.

It is smooth but I feel like the perforated holes add grip while your hands are holding it. I used it all day yesterday and today so far and haven't slip because of it being too smooth.

I was hoping that the official vent case for the GS3 looked like the official case for the GS2 but they screwed the look up pretty badly. This one looks good but it needs that flashy silver plaque. Haha.
Although I felt the same way about the actual phone itself but the GS3 grew on me and is now the best looking phone ever. Maybe that official vent case will grow on me as well.

Had an elago s4 on my iPhone. Best case I ever had. Thanks for the review!

Actually it doesn't. I lay mines everywhere whole I'm at work and cat home and I haven't gotten anything in the holes yet. Plus the white hasn't gotten dirty yet neither. Very impressed with the case so far. I would definitely buy more from them.

By the way for those of you worried that the case is slippery there's a soft feel version they sell as well that doesn't have the glossy back and has more a rubbery feel like a tpu case.

Body Glove "Defender-like" case!!!

So I'm browsing through the electronics section at Wal-Mart looking for a wireless mouse and I happen to stumble upon a new case for our phone. At first I'm thinking, "Oh, so now we have an Otterbox Defender!" Then I look at the box and it's a Body Glove!
I looked online for this case, but cannot even find it on the Body Glove website. I took a few pictures of it. It looks pretty good. It's a little bulky, but not too much. Very sturdy. The case is three parts - two for the inner hard plastic and one for the outer rubber-like shell. It's much easier to install than the Otterbox cases, but really feels just as protective - for less as well (paid less than $40). I said "Defender-like", so yes it comes with a holster - and it's almost identical to the Defender holsters.
Have any of you guys seen this case in any local stores? It feels like a pretty good one.

I haven't seen one in stores yet...because i have not been looking for one. I will see if i can find it...

OK, here are photos of the case this thread is talking about. Not much info on the case itself, and I threw the box away pretty quickly.
I took pictures of the box in the store. Its like $38. They show up fine in my gallery, so not sure why tapatalk is turning them sideways.

Apparently this is very new. Military tested specs, and it feels and looks much better than the Otterbox. I'm using a Thunderbolt for work with the Otterbox Defender. They look similar from a distance, but the look and feel in your hands is not even close. They also had one for the GS3. After several days of use, this has to be the best looking, best feeling, sleekest (relatively speaking, of course) heavy duty shock resistant case I've owned (and I've owned quite a few over the years).

Got this today and just luving it. Had the Body Glove Diamond white case before and it was a good quality but the Tough Suit case is perfect. Not too thick, built like a tank, this is the new batmobile from Christian Bale's Batman Trilogy if the other thin and slick cases are the stealthy slick batmobiles from the past xD

How are the buttons? Are they nice and tactile or stiff and mushy? That's what's bugging me about the D30 Impact case. The buttons are way too stiff and mushy (and before someone says I should hit the gym, I'm no chump. I can press them just fine, it's just annoying).

I'm using this case as well and it fits perfectly and adds the exact amount of weight and size to it. Only thing was I got ripped off haha I think I paid 20 something for it and saw it on amazon for less than half of that. But I needed a case asap.

My co-worker has one of these on his black T989, he's happy with it, however I don't believe he's ever really dropped it so no drop-test experience with it. Oh, and those cases were also being sold at the T-Mobile store, for $29.95 label, no discount for clearing stock.

they look pretty beefy compared to mine and when i dropped mine it was fine the only thing that looks off in the pictures is that it doesnt look completely snug.

I also bought the black body glove case at Walmart and after 24 hours I'm loving it. The only gripe I had was the built in screen protector. I have zagg so I took a razor knife and cut it out. Couldn't ask for a better case.

I want one of these cases, but I can't find it anywhere.

Love my seidio active case and holster. Better than my old phones otterbox!
