I'm assuming that was sarcasm. What they do have listed isn't in stock.
Apple wins.
I don't know whats going on with that site...It's been two weeks since I got the phone and about that long since I asked them to email me when the accessories would be back in stock....Guess I'm not the only one waiting....and waiting....and waiting......
3rd party always a good choice.
Thats why the Iphone has 23426245245314124451354134 items for sale for it. People support it and other phones have a few items and well get lost in the shuffle because they can't find an adapter that will allow the phone to dock with the toilet roll dispenser.
http://ipad.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/ipod_toilet_paper_roll.jpg
I mean common if they have a doc listed how freaking hard is it for them to actually make them and sell them. They have to know we want them and would actually use them.

You realize that there is only 1 iPhone for them to make accessories for each time apple releases a new model. And currently only 4 models period. Apple has kept a similar design each and every time, so to say that Iphones have 23426245245314124451354134 items for sale is a "thanks captain obvious" statement. About how many accessories did iPhone have 2 weeks after there launch huh?
Joe thanks for the captian obvious comment because I wasnt aware the iPhone hasnt changed much. My point overall being there will never be the support in the aftermarket world for any electronic device than the iPhone, but at the same time Samsung themselves who list accessories arent even selling them. Says two things to me. Its either a sells ploy to get you to buy their phones because look what you can buy or they are slow as heck to move on things.
Anyways I'm looking forward to some of their items, but I guess time will tell.
Anyone hear anything besides CDMA coming in Q1 ? I've been following all day nothing so far on any new models or anything on brands.
I've seen a bunch of phones but, all that Anroid crap... (sorry fanboys, I'm not a fan)
Did anyone else see anything ?
Nothing really new.
When an MS rep was questioned, he did say something like (I'm paraphrasing), "We're saving some news for a later date. Only if there was an event coming up dedicated to mobile devices in Barcelona, Spain where we could talk about this..."
Making a not so thinly veiled reference to the Mobile World Congress starting on February 14th.
I honestly didn't think there was anything exciting at CES. Dual core is nothing without the apps to back it up. As a former Android user, I didn't find anything interesting. Maybe that is because T-Mobile didn't announce a superphone and I will not break my contract.
They will drop a couple devices in February. Maybe in Spain.
Than again, sometime in the Fall.
Yea, nothing good, it sucks to be honest with ya.... It's not over yet (later date ?) but, I guess we'll see.
We CDMA people have to wait till Feb before we hear anything about a CDMA WP7 ? I feel like one of those (you know who you are) Verizon iPhone people, just waiting and waiting....
I'll have to admit, some of those Android phones looked nice just only if they had WP7 on them, it would be great.

It is over on Sunday (I think) and there are still companies that need to present. I believe that Sprint has yet to present knowing that AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon already presented.
Someone said that the HTC Trophy is coming very soon. Just passed the FCC with Verizon's banding.
But all of the Android phones have skins. Oddly enough, only one of them had Gingerbread and it is not even on a US carrier anytime soon.
I am not sure if there is anything new - as in the case you haven't yet heard of - coming on MWC, MS has a single stand at the event.
i was really expecting some aha announcements from balmer and his team. just some rattling on about nothing really, ahem xbox this and that. he's really looking old and tired now.
really expecting to see some cool innovations. maybe those projector phones with 12 hour batteries and lte connectivity ? well, no.
of course there are android phones everywhere (ya i'm a big fan) but expected more there also. one dual core phone. well, ok. if i get my nexus one, g2, g1, and wifes g2 all together, i'll have 4 cores really close to each other. woooo-p.
tell the truth i'd get more excited if there was some shazam new battery tech announced that let a badass smartphone run for a week on a charge that i'd be if there was a quad core handset.
tablets, good lord tablets everywhere ! and honeycomb is really going to be tailored specifically for tablets. sweet. nice to see a company making a specific OS for tablets.
things that aren't selling me:
tablets (too big for phoning, too small for real computing)
front facing cameras
barely usable batteries
gee-wiz dual cores/quad cores
kick stands
anything that isn't a micro-usb (c'mon already, standards!)
things taht would get me hot to buy:
LTE (the upgrade to this g2 with 6-7Mbps is pretty smokin fast, i want more though)
led projector, HD quality
720p that rivaled the iphone's (their stuff is really, really , really good)
a week long battery
waterproof
drop proof

Where did you read "The Entry level WP7 device" AKA HTC The Trophy just passed FCC banding ??
If it just got passed, it could be a few months before anyone sees it... Not sure I want the Trophy anyway, it's the lowest end model out of all current WP7 phones...
I'd rather have the Pro 7 (yea, the one Sprint is getting), I was hoping for something else on Verizon than just the Trophy.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, after 1 billion planned and millions so far spent on adveristing for WP7, Verizon and Sprint will not come to market with just 1 device each.

Out of all the stuff they come up, they can't solve a simple battery problem ? WTF ???

simple? if it was so simple why wouldn't you or anyone else for that matter do it? I guess its because im an engineer and i know science that i find this statement ridiculous. Lithium is the best element for energy storage and that is already being used. This is because lithum's desire to give elections away on it outer shell (hydrogen ist because it is hofbrincl). It is really going to be hard to find something else that can work better than this. Battery cell architecture enhancements are they best way to go with this route until some kind of reaction proves better, but that can only go so far. my point, it is hard, and a new approach to energy storage will have to be solved for it to really get better so i'd quit expecting something.
ok enough of the science lesson, I was also kind of disappointed in CES. Honestly I might of gone back to andriod if there was a LTE, dual core, sim card based, high res, 8 mp with FF VGA camera, 4.3 in phone that had excellent 4G coverage and 2.3 on it but noting announced met that criteria.
I was also hoping MS would drop the flash surprise or extended limited multitasking abilty but that also failed to happen. Basically what I heard from MS was exactly what everyone already knew. Some apis that allow certian types of services (streaming music apis, chat, etc) to preform in the backgroud would of been great.
i'm walking away from CES like eh, but eventually an LTE tablet might be in my future.

The HTC Pro 7 the one thought, I could not find any actual proof of it going to Sprint, the only way we know the Trophy is going to Verizon because they offered it to MS Employees.
The Trophy just passed the FCC yesterday. The HTC Pro 7 (the other CDMA "7" phone) passed the FCC 10/25/2010 and is still not here.
If someone is counting on getting it very soon, I would be shocked.

Dude, calm down... I was kidding with that... We've only been with the same battery tech for 5-10+ years now ? I'm sure someone came up with something by now. I know it's not simple by any means, it just sucks that no one has solved it. Not even any proto-types or rumors, that dead on this subject.
Pretty soon, something is going to have to happen, phones get faster, need more power, phones get bigger for bigger batteries...Sounds like we are going backwards to me...

from a simple stand point i can see your stance, but once you know the technology it makes since. Solar energy is actually the leading cause for the push in energy storage, but maybe cell phones will help push that.
What i honestly think is going to happen id the evolution of the power mat from Duracell. When the guy who invented it was still at MIT and proposing this tech he also stated in the future it would be possible to get rid of the mat and transmit power OTA. This would be a future with no batteries in cell phones thus making them the slimiest they could possibly be. However what happens when you are too far away from the tower emitting power.
This is all just FYI stuff, but if you are interested in the future of batteries this is the answer.

Yea, very interesting, if it ever comes out, I read about that like almost a year ago, as it could hold the power, the possable problems coming out (to the world) could be really bad.
As for wireless power, cool but, at what cost? As I think about this more, someone has to pay for the power and no one is going to give power away for free. So a power system off of a tower someplace ? Never will happen, there are too many companies making money off the grid and they would never let it happen, even for small devices.
It's a nice idea over all, to have a longer range "power mat" type of system, one in your home, one in your car, one in your office so you can limit your breaks of constant power (kind of like plugging it in when your in those locations) but, then you go back to the battery tech. Try recharging your battery 5-10 times a day or more (going between locations) how long do you think your battery would last (after discharge and recharge 100's of times more a month) ????
Anyway, for Verizon cusomers... a Press statement or "event" coming on Tuesday... Said, releases, so maybe WP7 along with the iPhoney.

Thank god I am not alone with this. Front facing cameras are basically dead. Some old Windows Mobile devices had them, but I don't think anyone ever used them.
I am waiting for Microsoft to make dual core fully optimized for dual core, it might happen 2012 though. I could wait on that.
And for data speed, I would rather wait for HSPA+ (the one with a peak of 42 mpbs) on a WP7 devices, only because I have no plans of switching carriers (all carriers work here, so doesn't really matter which one I use). LTE is pretty cool and it is available in my area.
My wife and I were at the mall today and I went into a Rogers store (Canadian cell provider), and was comparing the Focus to my Quantum.
A sales monkey came over to see if I needed help and we started chatting. I asked him if the wp7's had been selling he kinda laughed nervously and said he hasn't seen a rep sell one yet. He mentioned that one concern is the lack of multi-tasking. I kinda find that hard to believe. That used to be the rallying cry of all anti-apple people, yet they sold like crazy. And I've yet to see one 'in the wild'. Anecdotal I know, but kinda disappointing. I think it's a fantastic OS, I thought more people would be into it.
Many people are into it.
The sales man is only a sales man. He only wants to sell you what ever he thinks he can make money off.
As it stands the multitasking functionality is about the same as the iphone, but with MANGO on its way, that will be fixed.
Don't worry, generally sales rep don't know what they are talking about, they just know the basic/general stuffs.
If I'm the sales officer,I would not reckon this device to any customer, until 2nd gen of devices or mango are released.
@FooisM, most of the consumers not even know what is WP7,so,whats the point telling them about Mango?lol....
@JC_agga, yea true, they just know basic and general stuffs, that is what ordinary or normal customers want.

I love my sammy Focus. When I went to the ATT store to get my wife the same phone, the salesman said good things about the phone, asked me about my experience. I got a little bit of view time with both of these devices and even a bit of hands on with the titan II and I must say, I have not been impressed by an HTC design since the G1 and this was impressive. The soft plastic they used retained a necessary weight to the device without feeling like it'd break from a four foot fall as HTCs often do. The 16 mp camera was stunning for both video and pictures, and the FFC didn't suffer from the pixelation my titan has. The only downside I saw to this was it's inability to compare to the lumia aesthetically.
The lumia has a 4.3 inch CBD AMOLED display that actually seems to trump the samoled on my focus and is right on par with the samoled+ on my focus S. The CBD bonding process is amazing. It has the Carl Zeiss optics that will blow you away for pics and videos and the polycarbonate unibody that can take a lot of beating. This is as close as I've seen a phone come to flawless. I'll get both eventually, likely the lumia first, but which would you prefer?
Hmm, maybe you should try the WP7 forums...might get some better input there.
How about some pictures of CES?
Edit: Actually if you read the rules of the forum, "which phone is better" threads do not belong in general. You should read that before posting. Wouldn't want you to get banned again...
Well, then the mods have a lot of removal to handle. However, I assume that mine will be the first reported since you opted to pay the thread a visit. I didn't take pictures at CES, I was toting my one year old around the whole time.

When you get the probable worst of the original wp7 line up, have salespeople who think it's running winmo, market it as a dead device less than a month after release, and essentially hide it, it will not flourish despite excellent customer reviews.

No excuses, the arrive can be seen in the advertisement telling them to trade their old devices in for an iPhone 4. Many XDA members wrote (proper usage, you meant written) that sprint reps outright refused to sell them the device. When I walked into the local sprint store to check one out the rep was telling me that his evo 3d could outdo the arrive at anything, first time using the phone I proved him wrong. Sales reps often know nothing and sale only what they know.

I think you should wait for the future days for lumia. nokia's first experience with wp7 and it is a little bit risky.
I was holding out hoping they would start getting desperate to get the recalled units back, let's hope this is the case, so i guess i should hold out longer now Nd see what happens. They should give us discounts on the next phone, but that doesn't really help being on contract for people like me on the next plan, if i switch the s7 edge right now, I'm locked in for a year unless I pay off half the phone, its a mess but I'm hoping this mess blows over soon, I dont want the S7 but I will use it temporarily until a real upgrade drops, otherwise I'll keep my Note 7, really just depends in what Samsung is willing to do to get me to give it up lol.

I was feeling the same until, in the interests of safety and concern I might need to fly unexpectedly, I swapped for an S7E. The phone is fine. I miss the iris scanner a bit. I barely used the s-pen. I think the battery life is better. I can totally live with this phone for a year or two. I'm on the Jump plan but I really don't make use of the upgrade option much.

LCD? Really? I just can't see beyond that glaring weakness.
So far this offer appears to only be for users in South Korea - Samsung may simply never make the offer worldwide, that would be somewhat extreme and basically cost them double what this whole thing is costing them at this point in time.
Perhaps this offer arose for Korea because some 500 people are sueing them there already?
Now a S7 Edge explodes. wtf?

Assuming they extend this offer to the UK that is. Well I returned my N7 and am awaiting a call from Carphone Warehouse to upgrade to the S7E. But I guess I'll only do this if they extend the offer to the UK...
COME ON SAMSUNG....it's not just S. Korea that have been screwed over.

I would be willing to bet that almost every model of phone has had a couple examples of individual phones having meltdowns. It's called "acceptable risk of failure"
i.e. the manufacturer tests and does calculations on their product, and analyzes it to determine how likely the device is to fail, and what the potential damage from said failure would be. If the financial risk due to that failure is lower than the cost to lower the failure rate, they don't care about it (unless the failure rate would be so high that it would draw negative media attention, such as the case with the Note 7).
I imagine that Samsung did this with the Note 7 - they looked at the situation and figured "well, we can swap to the single battery maker for xx million dollars, and replace existing batteries (as well as potentially the glass and body), and the failure rate risk will be lowered to 1 in whatever number of phones". Then when they did that, they realized that the continuing failure of first gen phones, combined with a very small handful of second gen phones (yes, there were 25 or so failures after the phones started being replaced, but not nearly all of those were second gen phones), the only options were either do a full recall, and mitigate the potential financial liability from a lawsuit, or do a complete recall and re-release the phone after putting it through even more extensive testing and possibly an update or repair to the hardware (requiring full recertification and testing for most countries they are sold in that require such certification). The cost was too great, and the risk was too great, so they canned the phone.

I wonder if the editor of that publication read the article before he wrote the headline? The article says 50% off screen repair costs. It says nothing about a 50% discount on an S8 or Note 8!

So much for keeping the S8 a secret.
I think I've already made up my mind with the LG V20. So I'll pass on this offer.

Oh of course. I'm actually brand neutral. I have tried many brand of smartphones over the years.
Starting with the HTC Dream, and then I've had Motorola, Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony and one more that slipped my mind.
The smartphone has become such a personal device for me, it has already superceded my laptop usage. I've had cheap smartphones in the past and I had enough of those. Few months ago, decided to have one super smartphone that does everything I need. And the Note 7 looked like it fit the bill. But we know how that ended up. And the S7 Edge doesn't quite fit the bill for me.
The LG V20 looks good for my daily use. I totally understand why you'd disagree. But we all have our personal preferences. And the V20 might just work out for me. At the same time, it would be the first time I'd try LG.

How was your Xiaomi experience? I'm eye-balling the Xiaomi Note 2 that just dropped today as a temporary device until the S8 or Note 8 comes out, something to just buy outright and enjoy. But never owned anything but Samsung, so yes I'll def lose the Samsung Perks, I.E. Samsung Pay, Gear VR Etc. But looks-wise Xiaomi did a DECENT job imitating the Note 7, that Skin is just blehhhhhh though.

They're decent smart devices for the price.
However, most reviews of smartphones (every smartphone, not just Xiaomi) fail to cover is the call quality. I mean, it's a smart -phone- after all.
I make phone calls all the time. My parents, my in-laws, my wife, friends, etc.
Once, my wife and I had the Redmi 2, and it was one of the most frustrating experiences we had. We were constantly struggling to make out what we're telling each other.
We've since switched phones. She got a Galaxy S6, I got the Xperia Z3 Compact, VoLTE and HD Voice was like butter to our ears.
I got the Note 7 initially, so that we could communicate using 3G video calls, something not many smartphones support. But now that the Note 7 is discontinued, I have to search for an alternative.
I was quite close to settle for the S7 (no Edge), until I discovered the V20 also supoorts 3G video calls. So I'm giving that a shot.
Edit - Oh and charging was slow. After experiencing quick charge, you can't go back.
To be fair, I'm not sure about the newer flagship Xiaomi phones. But I don't think I'll be getting another Mi phone soon. I am eager to try OnePlus 3 some day.
My country the only option is to get the refund. So will I still able to get the discount rate for s8?

So far, reports suggests it's only in S Korea. Not worldwide.
