Dear forum, I've always found help searching these forums, but this time I have to ask something myself:
I use a MIUIes ROM for my HTC Desire, with a 1024MB ext partition, the ROM works fine, I can power it off, power it on, reboot... everything without problems,
BUT, sometimes, without having made any single change on the phone, not installed anything, nor changed anything on the setup, when I turn off and on, it stays on the white screen with green htc text...
Sometimes I can solve this by simply taking the battery out, and powering on again; but other times I have to reflash the whole rom back again (and install every single program back from scratch), since I tried to use nandroid backups and that doesn't help.
Any ideas why this might happen? any solutions?
Thanks in advance

I decided to try out the new RcmixHD 6.0 today...I backed up my Rom , wiped data n Cache n Dalvik Cache..The phone rebooted n now I am stuck on the bootscreen with white background n htc...plz someone help!!...I dont know what to do!!!....neone?..plz reply soon..
OK, i'm only new to this, so it might be better to wait and see if someone more experienced can answer you question.
but if its still stuck on the white screen then remove the battery & then put it back in again then hold down the Vol down button and power button until the bootloader loads up. then select 'recovery', it hopefully should take you back into the clockworkmod recovery & you can then flash your rom.
again, i'm only new & thats just my best guess.
first off, when you flash a new rom, it tends to stay on the white htc screen a bit longer. make sure you give it a few minutes (i'd say a good 3-4 minute wait should suffice but lets say 5 just to be safe). if nothing happens by then, you can always follow the method listed above by henipah to restore your backed-up rom.
once you have restored your rom and your heart rate has returned to normal levels, you can try flashing the new rom again. remember to wait it out a bit at the white htc screen.
First boot can take an age, if you issue the command
Code:
adb logcat
it will at least confirm the phone is doing something and hasn't hung, if it has hung issue
Code:
adb reboot recovery
and reflash your chosen rom.
Thank you for the replies...flashed it again n its fixed...it was stuck on Boot screen for about 15 minutes!!!..I thought I bricked by device or something...lolz..neways, all is well now..
Help plzzzz!!!!
I am a newbie here and am facing a problem with the data connection on the phone. I have flashed the new RCMix Rom v6.0.0.1 with partial Sense 3.0.
The problem is that if I leave the phone unattended or even otherwise, the data connection turns off. Is this a bug with the ROM, cause I see that the option for the Mobile Data Connection is still ticked in the Notifications Menu, but for me to be able to connect, I have to untick and then tick it again for the connection to happen again. Would also want to specify that I am not on 3G. Any help would be really appreciated.
Hi
Strange occurrence today. Turned on phone--nothing. Reset battery and it booted fine, but after awhile (when the screen timed out) it went back to black. When I turn it on it goes to dark blue (BSOD?) but nothing else happens, however as soon as I reset the battery, it will boot successfully and as long as the screen is on, the apps seem to work etc. As soon as I lose the screen, I lose the phone again. Volume down followed by power switch brings up the same BSOD.
The lcd is on and the phone is apparently charging regardless.
Can anyone help get me back in business?
Thanks
Are you using a custom rom of any kind, rooted etc. giving details like this helps people answer questions.
My advice is if you are useing a custom rom then backup your apps etc. then redownload the rom and flash it as new then recover your apps.
Hi, I left my Desire with low battery on night, in the morning I woke up and I realized that it is turned off - it probably discharged. I turned it on, and it turned off while booting, it didn't have enough energy to boot... So I charged it a little bit, and again booted - phone is booting, there is green HTC logo, then "HTC Quietly Brilliant" with booting sound, and then black screen and it is booting again and again... Phone have RUU 2.3 (Gingerbread), I used GoLauncherEx, and it is rooted. I can enter recovery, I tried "reboot" and "reboot bootloader" but still the same. I wasn't doing anything with Phone, everything was working, so it happened without reason? Or maybe it's because of Launcher which is loading after turning on phone? Help me, please
I don't think that it is caused by launcher, because from what you wrote, your phone doesn't even get to UI.
Firt of all, I'd try doing a nandroid backup (just for sure), then full wipe (everything...., do it 3 times, I think I have read somewhere that cwm sometimes doesn't do i properly first time). Try to reboot. If it is still the same, try to flash another rom (cm7 for example). If that doesn't help, try official not rooted RUU and it should fix the problem. (Then, ofcourse, you will have to root your phone again.)
Good luck
Well, I found something like "Clear Storage" and it helped, thanks for answer anyway
OK, I am glad it has been solved
Hi, I have been running JellyTime 4.2 R11 for few weeks now on my S-OFF Desire HD.
Today, I noticed that the light was blinking and battery was low 6%, so I decided to put it into charger, and somehow when I connected it soon I accidently disconnected the charger, and when I put it back, the phone probably crashed or something, since it went black and the white screen with HTC logo appeared and it started to boot again. Now, JellyTime tries to boot, the bootanimation goes fine for sometime but then it gets stuck after "playing" the bootanimation for a while, nothing happens, even if I wait 5 minutes, it's stuck, bootanimation is frozen, no matter do I have the charger connected or not.
So, is there anything I could do, or is reflashing the only solution? I did full wipe when I flashed the ROM.
If you need more information, sure, just ask.
You could try dirty flashing, but if that doesn't work you'll have to reflash.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't help, gets stuck still on bootanimation.
Time to full wipe and flash it again then. Wipe&FlashTime
Happened to me a few times. I suggest a battery pull before anything else. Seems stupid. But it can work in some cases

I did battery pull several times considering that the phone refused to shutdown even when holding the power button for 10 secs, so battery pull was needed every time.
Anyway, it's now running fine when I reflashed.

I have the same problem since a crash on opening the outlook-email App (JellyTime 4.2 R9).
I found, that the "data" partition causes the trouble when booting. Formating the "data" partition with "4ext recovery" fixes boot-freezing. But this is not an option for me as my last (working) backup is a couple of months ago (yes, I know - should backup more frequently...).
I was able to backup the up-to-date "data" partition (with 4ext recovery) but when restoring it (even on an fully wiped and updated system) boot sequence freezes again.
Any ideas???
Many thanks!
Solved the problem with the data-backup. Instead of restoring complete partition the APP "AppExtractor" works fine for restoring data of the partition backuped.
For now, system runs perfectly.
Conclusion:
If system hangs in Boot-Animation use Recovery for backup of up-to-date system. Full wipe system and install ROM of your choise. After that restore SMS, contacts, etc. with "AppExtractor". Apps should be installed from PlayStore as far as possible. "AppExtractor" allows restoring of app, data+app, data.
Hi guys
I seem to have an incredibly weird issue on my HTC. It is rooted and running DU 6.0.1.
For some reason, despite the battery being 60%+, whenever I unplug my phone from power it just switches off. If I try to reboot it/go to recovery, it starts up for a second and goes off. However, it seems to function normally when it is plugged in via usb. I can access recovery as well. I have tried to reflash as well as a full wipe, but nothing seems to work.
Im thinking something went wrong with the boot.img maybe ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe its a stupid inquiry but does battery work as it should in stock rom? so that you can be absolutely sure its not faulty battery that's creating issues.because two things happen(in my experience when something goes wrong with boot.img) either its stuck at splash screen (hboot) with red text OR it goes blank but not off, just blank
Definitely isnt the battery. I am not experiencing any drain and it functions completely normally when plugged it. When I unplug, it works fine for a few min and then switches off. It will then not turn on, despite it showing 90%+ when I plug it in
but it happens in stock rom also? thats what i wanted to know .if you can full wipe and phone works when connected to usb, maybe you can run ruu and confirm that as well . If you can go to recovery ,make a nandroid backup.and try a ruu.
Yup, happens on stock as well.
Also, I think the recovery is messed up as well since it just crashes now when trying to flash something. It's having issues doing a nanroid backup as well
And no love for exe ruu as well?
