On Myn's thread i downloaded a new boot animation or a new kernal and when I install it I get this

How do I fix this? I toggled off signature verification thinking that would fix it.
Are you using cloackwork? If yes switch to Amon_RA
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Wonderfull!! Thank you
The message was because that animation had the Amend scripting [old] and you were running clockwork 3.0+ which uses Edify scripting [new], so the files aren't compatible. Your options are to as the other user suggested, use amon_ra 2.3 or use and older version of clockworkmod.
Sorry for posting this here but I have not permission to post in the developers forum yet.
My problem is that after install Defy 2ndlit I try to install Pays Rom.zip by using recovery system but Defy 2ndlit says "Amend scriptin is no longer suported. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting... bla bla bla" Installation Aborted
what happened?
thanks in advance!
You should use 2nd Init version 1.4.2 or 1.3 to install zip which are using amend scripting. The latest 2nd Init version installs CWM 3.x which will install only with Edify scripting.

Thanks! and where can I find that version? I installed from Android Market. isn't supposed is the newest version, is it?
You welcome! You can download those versions from this topic.
Hi... I just found that Clockwork Recovery has new version from their website but in zip format. Try to install it through ROM Manager and recovery mode but it is just temporary recovery. Every time I enter recovery mode by pressing power and vol down and choose recovery it is back to old recovery.
Does anyone try this new recovery and how to make it permanent or is it available in img format so I can flash it using Android Flasher.
for your reference please find it here :
hxxp://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.0.0-bravo.zip (please change hxxp into http)
*** sorry for my horrible English and grammar
it is cause you use the fake-flash method, launching CWM 5.0.0 by flashing a .zip file from your current recovery.
in order to permanently change your recovery you would have to be S-OFF and have a .img file of the new recovery
My HTC Desire already S-OFF but where to find this img file of new CWM Recovery?
I have search over Google and this forum but did not found. Is it possible to change this zip file into img file?

Yes but not all file available.
like HTC Bravo only latest recovery in zip format only.
Thanks
Yeah, but as this thread is for v5.0.0.0 then people will want the newest will they not?
someone already did some test?
for example backup the current rom (maybe one with ext partition), then flash an other rom (just for test), and then restore the backup (and see if boots and everything ok)?
i will try later anyway, but of course will be nice to already know if its work or have some problems
Has any one had the edify script error with CWM 5.0.0.0 recovery ?
I flashed CWM 5.0.0.0 today via fastboot and it works fine - however I tried flashing Cool 3D V9 Rom and then when i flashed the boot loop fix & got the edify scripting error does any one know of a work around ??? I did a search and i found some code by coolexe and baadnews but not sure if there is a way to fix this ?

ask the dev to update the script in the flashable zip or flash a 2.x recovery (amend script is no more supported from 3.x and up, only edify is supported)
anyone have a changelog? cant find one anywhere!

follow koush or clockworkmod on twitter..5.x has faster backups (now it used .tar files) and preserve the file system of each partition (if ur sd-ext is ext3, it will be backup and restore as ext3, if u have ext4 it will be ext4, etc..with previous cwm recoveries the sdext was restored always as ext3)
also a new color sheme..now is blue light
edit: new recovery seems available 5.0.1.0 http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-bravo.img
I read from a koush twit :
"Desire and Desire CDMA users: I have just switched you to real flashing rather than fakeflash. You will need to S-OFF. with unrevoked."
so, out of curiosity, how Rom Manager can flash the recovery for real?
I always use fastboot, and i though there was no other way than that and the PB99IMG.zip method..
Someone know how that works (i mean the flashing through an app)?
i'm fine with 4.xxxx

Well there have always been another way just not on desire, since s-on users couldn't write to system or recovery while system was booted. But with s-off using a flash_image script will work just fine, which is pretty much what rom manager does(i assume).
So I asked koush on twitter to change us to native recovery flashing since s-off have been around for quite some time for desire
edit: so for everyone s-off that means: to update just install/open rommanager and press "flash clockworkmod recovery"(tested and working just fine)

Thanks to ur tips, i found how it works!
from the terminat emulator on the phone:
Code:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
that should flash the recovery (even other partition i though), without use fastboot and without use the pc! thats nice!
On AOSP roms the flash_image utility is already included on /system/bin..in other roms (like stock ones) it should be downloaded and placed on the phone and used in the same way
that probably what rom manager does
So there is no way to get the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery if we are on S-ON ?
I have the desire from when the phone came out. After 3 months i already had a custom rom running on the device, but now comes the problem.
Not one off the rom's i used made it to the end. Always mem leaks, error messages, battery problemsw or/and slowness after a while.
Now i want to know a ROM suggestion from you guys that i never need to update or reinstall because of one of this problems. I don't need to have a nice theme installed and i don't need the newest version of Android.
Just a rom that works for 1, 2 or even 3 years.
Thanks a lot for answering.
I have following specs from my device:
Device: HTC Desire PVT4 Ship S-Off
Hboot: i can use anything you advice (currently stock)
Recovery: 4EXT Recovery Touch (v1.0.0.5 RC7)
Radio: 5.14.05.17
Rom: thats my question.
Kernel: Anything you advice.
SD: 16GB (Class 10)

Oxygen r2 hboot for Oxygen, Cm7r2 hboot for CM7, if you need more space use S2E. (you need 512Mb-1GB ext partition for it)
Also update your radio to latest one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464&highlight=radio
Basically you can use anything CM7/Oxygen based if you want stable ROM. (you can try MildWild if you want something themed)

If i want to update my Radio to the latest version it give me following error message in 4Ext touch:
-- Installing: /sdcard/bravo.5.17.05.23.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (update-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted.
I don't understand this. Can someone explain?

U can flash it using fastboot (fastboot flash radio image_name.img)
Unpack radio.zip for img
Also you can flash ROM without upgrading radio, but you will have to flash it if you will have some problems with wifi signal or reception.
Fastboot? First time i would use that.
Are there easy tools for witout using a command in windows that i don't get working after running.
Found it: Universal Android AIO Flasher Tools

I dont recommend rom manager but a simple way to flash radio is to install Clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.7 using rom manager. Fastboot is the best way but u can do it this way too. Download rom manager, install it then in the app go to the bottom and choose flash older recovery, 2.5.0.7 then u can flash radio in recovery as zip file. U can always flash 4ext recovery using the 4ext recovery updater app straight after u update radio. Look here for a guide.

i have a question, why cant i fash zips like cronmod int2ext4+ ? i can flash cm9 and gapps but thats about it. is there something that i have to do to get the zips to work?
Thread cleaned and moved to Q&A.
Its caused by outdated update-binary used by dev of that script. You can either use diffrent recovery, or rollback to TWRP 2.2.2.0 ( it uses recovery API v2 ).

ok so say im making a rom with dsixda, how would i go about making fixin the update-binary?
You should be able to flash every zip with TRWP 2.3+ as long as you include this http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/utilities/update-binary update-binary.
